Ron's Amazing Stories

Ron's Amazing Stories is home to a variety of thrilling and thought-provoking tales. In this episode, we have an extended segment of These Are Your Stories, where listeners share their own eerie and unexplained experiences. First up, Belinda takes us on a tour of one of Hollywood's most famous hotels, known for its haunted history and eerie atmosphere. She recounts tales of strange noises, and ghostly encounters that have cemented the hotel's reputation as a paranormal hotspot. Next, an anonymous listener shares her chilling encounter with black eyed kids—mysterious children with large, black eyes that have been reported in various parts of the world. She describes her terrifying experience with these eerie entities, leaving listeners on the edge of their seats. Finally, Jessica takes us on a wild ride with her incredible tale that unfolded during a drama class. Following that segment, we have a classic double feature in store. The first story, A Thing That Glistened, written by Frank R. Stockton in 1891, transports us to the early age of deep sea diving. Despite its age, the story has a timeless quality and remains captivating with its imaginative storytelling. To conclude the show, we end with a humorous and tongue-in-cheek story called Navy Day by Harry Harrison (One of Ron's favorite authors). This lighthearted tale from 1954 offers a satirical take on the future of technology and the military, leaving listeners with a chuckle and a thought-provoking message. Featured Story -  A Thing That Glistened Our featured story comes from a book called Eleven Possible Cases published by Cassell and Company in 1891. This is an anthology composed of eleven short stories from eleven different authors. Our story is titled A Thing That Glistened and it was written by Frank R. Stockton. It was suggested to me by Jamar Linkous from New York. He first read this story as a kid and it stuck with him. Jamar decided to track it down and found it on .  It is a unique story and one that doesn't  really sound like something that was written in 1891. Stories Include - The Machine Factory Murder, Hollywood Roosevelt, BEK & Halloween, Under The Desk, A Thing That Glistened, and Navy Day Ron's Amazing Stories Is Sponsored by: Audible - You can get a free audiobook and a 30 day free trial at . Nate and Benjamin are taking over a suite in the Hollywood Roosevelt and teaming up with the Felix Art Fair to whip up a slew of quick-hit special edition pods with some legends of the LA art scene. First up are Mills Morán and Dean Valentine, co-founders of Felix, who swing by the suite to talk about the decision to go ahead with LA's first in-person fair in 18 months, why this is a breakthrough moment for local galleries, how sick it is to have a legit bank sponsor, and whether or not the new Nancy Silverton joint in the Roosevelt is any good. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/benjamin-godsill/support

My sister and I had to endure a haunted hotel visit... Have you ever stayed at a haunted hotel? One time in L.A. on a layover from Hawaii, I stayed at the Hollywood Roosevelt and wow... when the elevator doors, going DOWN to the lobby, opened I swore I was at the entrance to hell.... People in mismatched decade clothing around the ballroom, dim lights, and very thick air. Marilyn Monroe, supposedly haunts her old room (1200) where she lived while working in her earlier years of acting. It is rumored that her first ad was shot at the Roosevelt's pool. “Many see Marilyn in the mirror. They also see a little girl in a blue dress,” a maintenance worker claimed. There is SO much more to this story including tea about R. Kelly and where he kept one of the young girls he kidnapped and kept locked away at a hotel.
