Simps Built TOXIC Women and It's RUINING Dating | CC Podcast EP 161In Episode 161 of the Cancel Culture Podcast, the panel unpacks the raw truth behind why modern dating is falling apart and it starts with simps. The group dives deep into how low-effort male behavior, digital thirst, and unconditional validation have empowered toxic femininity, giving average women inflated egos and unrealistic standards. They break down the rise of platforms like OnlyFans, where mid-tier women are earning like celebrities not because of value, but because men have dropped their standards entirely. With attention being the new currency, women don't have to change because men keep paying. The fallout? Real relationships are being replaced by transactional dynamics, clout-chasing, and manipulation. From masculinity being labeled “controlling” to submission becoming taboo, this episode exposes how the gender balance has completely flipped. If you're wondering why dating feels fake, transactional, or hopeless this is the blueprint. Dr. Robert PhilipsonFilmmaker/ExecutivePhilipson is a former academic professor of African-American studies with a passion for Jazz & African art. A published author and Harlem Renaissance historian, he has produced multiple films about the intersectionality of Race, Music, & Sexuality. His newest film is "The Knowing"Written by Dr. Robert Philipson and directed by Jonathan RowanAdam, a white man in his late 30s, is visiting his Black ex-lover, Peter, who is dying of AIDS in a DC hospital. The year is 1992. Also in attendance is Cherie, a Black lesbian naval officer who is Peter's best friend. The two sympathetically listen to Peter's complaints about how his “Christian” family has abandoned him until a nurse arrives to give Peter medication. While waiting in the hospital cafeteria, Adam and Cherie, meeting that day for the first time, compare notes about the course of Peter's illness. This leads them to a terrible discovery. Adam, in particular, is confronted with a choice that, while still in shock, he doesn't know how to handle. In this episode of 'The Family Ties,' co-hosts Frank Abdul Shaheed and Faridah Abdul Tawwab Brown delve into the critical issue of how media consumption and the pursuit of material wealth have impacted family structures and the innocence of children. They reflect on their personal experiences growing up and the cultural influences that have shifted society from a community-oriented focus to individualism. The discussion touches on several aspects, including the significance of music and media, the role of parents in curating these influences, and the loss of moral guidance. They emphasize the importance of re-establishing secure, nurturing environments for children and the urgent need to re-align societal values with moral and spiritual guidance to protect future generations. The conversation also highlights the broader implications of these societal shifts and the ways in which communities can reclaim their foundational purposes.00:00 Welcome to The Family Ties Podcast00:36 Reflecting on Music and Family Values02:06 The Influence of Music on Youth07:05 Materialism and the American Dream12:08 The Rise of Fear and Media Influence21:39 Urbanization and Its Impact on Children26:30 The Decline of Religious Values28:54 A Great and Dreadful Day30:12 Struggling with Faith and War Zones30:56 Natural Curiosity and Morality in Children31:34 The Role of Nature in Moral Guidance33:16 The Fig and the Olive: A Metaphor for Growth37:53 The Importance of Parental Guidance41:06 Media's Impact on Children43:44 Challenges of Single-Parent Households45:21 Interracial Relationships and Identity49:33 The Need for Guidance and Revelation50:16 Concluding Thoughts on Family and SocietyThis podcast is about family life as a means to address current problems in American society. The Therapy for Black Girls Podcast is a weekly conversation with Dr. Joy Harden Bradford, a licensed Psychologist in Atlanta, Georgia, about all things mental health, personal development, and all the small decisions we can make to become the best possible versions of ourselves. When it comes to dating outside of your race, Black women are up against cultural stigmas, thoughts of missing out on Black love, fear of losing our “Black card,” and disapproval from family, friends, and social media. How many of these sentiments against interracial dating are reasonable things to consider, and how many are blocking us from finding what could be true love? To answer these questions and more, I'm joined by Dr. Racine Henry. Dr. Henry is a licensed marriage and family therapist whose practice focuses on Black, interracial, and non-monogamous couples. In our conversation, we unpack both the common and unanticipated conflicts experienced in interracial relationships, things to consider before and while in an interracial relationship, and how to navigate disapproval from family, friends, and society at large.
