Today we jump back 15 years to two back-to-back episodes of the PWTorch Livecast from Aug. 27 and 30, 2010.On the Aug. 27, 2010 episode, PWTorch assistant editor James Caldwell and co-host PWTorch Nostalgia columnist Brian Hoops includes discussion with live callers on the deaths of Luna Vachon, Tony Borne, and 21-year-old wrestling student Jeremy Wood. Also, live calls on last night's TNA Impact, Dixie Carter moving more into a character role on TV, the entire promotion now built around keeping Dixie interested, the confusing and silly and counter-productive Impact feuds with EV2.0 vs. Fortune vs. Sting & Nash vs. Hogan & Jarrett vs. TNA Title competitors, Reacting making things more confusing, the lack of emphasis on quests for championships and over-use of verbiage on "building the company up," Paul Heyman's role in the wrestler health issue of today from his time running ECW, Kurt Angle's future in TNA or WWE, WWE wrestlers getting paid if they're sent down to FCW, and more. Then in the previously VIP-exclusive Aftershow, they discussed Magnus & Desmond Wolfe, the lack of value of any title in TNA, how insane the booking is in terms of titles, Smackdown tonight with a disagreeable Summerslam re-match & the Dolph Ziggler-Kofi Kingston feud, a big Nostalgia interview next week, Ric Flair's interview on ESPN and where he is in TNA, plus much more.On the Aug. 30, 2010 episode, PWTorch editor Wade Keller and co-host PWTorch columnist Bruce Mitchell previewed Raw episode #900 and took live phone calls discussing the Top Stars of the Raw Era, starting with Steve Austin at #1, then discussed who falls in line after Austin. On this weeks show I continue my long form history of pro wrestling series taken from my book DragonKingKarl's 1984-1985 Pro Wrestling Omnibus. I take a deep dive into October 1985 where Vince McMahon buries Uncle Elmer during his own (real!) wedding! Road Trip After Hours w/ WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long and Host Mac Davis
Ever wonder what happens when wrestling legends gather to celebrate one of the industry's most powerful figures? This week, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long joins Mac Davis to pull back the curtain on his recent attendance at Vince McMahon's ultra-private 80th birthday bash. From sitting at McMahon's personal table alongside John Cena to receiving a remarkable marble bust inscribed with "Some legends are carved in stone," Teddy shares rare glimpses into this exclusive celebration where phones were prohibited and the WWE patriarch was "at home" directing the production. The conversation shifts to Teddy's adventures at Dragon Con, where he brought an unexpected superhero into the wrestling world by appointing Superman as a special referee for the main event. With costumed fans and electric crowds creating what Teddy calls "an indie performer's dream," his stories paint a vivid picture of wrestling's unique intersection with fan culture.Through the mailbag segment, Teddy reflects on career highlights and regrets—from refereeing the legendary Steamboat-Flair match at Chi-Town Heat to wishing his bout with Eric Bischoff and Boogeyman "never happened." He shares fascinating insights about his early days refereeing sixteen matches in a single day and the evolution of Doom (Ron Simmons and Butch Reed) from hooded Ebony Express members to one of wrestling's most formidable tag teams.Whether you're a longtime wrestling fan or simply love behind-the-scenes stories from entertainment's most colorful characters, this episode delivers candid reflections from someone who's truly seen it all.
