Join our hosts on the wee Scottish Isle of Hegg (or, rather, the Isle of Mann, masquerading as Scotland if we are being honest about our filming locations) as they review Chelsea's pick: The Decoy Bride. Madison is baffled, yet delighted, at Chelsea's appreciation of the movie and both uncover the real reason why this movie works so well: David Tennant. Sure, the dialogue is witty and the accents and scenery are great, but the cast of the movie is really what elevates it to a height like that of the Hebridean cliffside. While we adored Kelly MacDonald's accent, can we please start letting David Tennant use his Scottish accent? For science? Either way, this movie is definitely worth the watch (and for what it's worth-- this is Madison's favorite episode this season). The cinematic world of love and laughter had rom-com enthusiast Madison head over heels from the time Harry met Sally. For genre skeptic Chelsea, however, it's been a grueling enemies-to-lovers plot. In Love at First Screening, Madison introduces Chelsea to all the fan-favorite love stories she's never wanted to watch. One friend's passion might be the other's displeasure, but doesn't love conquer all? Our 1832 publication, 'A Poetical Guide to the Isle of Mann' by Rev Thomas Stephen, has brought us to explore down north, to which we came via the western route. After seeing some of the sights - including Thomas Stephen's old family home in Ballaugh - we set out to return to Douglas, this time by the east coast route. In this episode of our Manx translation of Bram Stoker's 'Dracula', whilst the ship's log of the Demeter has been given in evidence before an inquest, the verdict is left open. The burial service for the captain - regarded as a hero by the populace of Whitby - is a touching one, observed by Mina Murray and Lucy Westenra, but ends in an unpleasant incident. In our translation into Manx of Bram Stoker's 'Dracula', we hear of the aftermath of the surprising arrival into Whitby Harbour of a Russian schooner - and it's equally, if not more, surprising, according to the correspondent of a newspaper called The Dailygraph.

Writing in 1832, Rev Thomas Stephen is giving us 'A Poetical Guide to the Isle of Mann'. He includes the Island's government, including the role of the Legislative Council - though without mentioning that he, as Vicar-General, was an ex officio member of it. Jonathan Harker realises that he was not dreaming when he was faced with three beautiful women for whom he felt lust, which turned to horror when it became obvious they wanted to feast on his blood. Count Dracula has him prepare a series of letters - by the dates of which Jonathan Harker sees how long he can expect to stay alive before the Count kills him. In our translation into Manx of Bram Stoker's 'Dracula', Jonathan Harker is exploring part of Castle Dracula where it appears the ladies of the household used to live. This is the fourth episode of our segment, Tales of the Unexplained, where I'll be talking about some of the aliens, spirits, semi-mythical creatures and various other entities that go ‘bump' in the night. Today, we're gonna be discussing some Celtic cryptids, by which I mean cryptids from England, Cornwall, Wales, Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Mann. More specifically, we're gonna be taking a look at six of the most well-known Celtic cryptids: Black Shuck; the Church Grim; the Banshee; the Dullahan; the Kelpie; and the Selkie. Now, a quick disclaimer before I begin. This series is comprised of folklore and urban legends. The existence of the cryptids featured in these episodes are, as of this recording, currently unconfirmed by the scientific community at large. As such, any and all opinions I may reach in this segment are mine and mine alone, unless explicitly stated otherwise. It is quite possible you may have heard different versions of the legends and stories I may retell in this series, so if you feel that the version you heard, or even may have experienced, is different to the one I tell, please bear in mind that I'm just a storyteller. I will try to cross-reference the different versions of the legends and stories, so if I miss something, that's on me. Also, this episode of the Raven's Grove features the following trigger warnings: · Body harm mentions · Physical combat related bodily trauma mentions · Animal predatory behaviour mentions · Being hunted mentions · Murder mentions · Witchcraft mentions · Urban legends · Folklore · Potentially frightening stories So if any of those are in any way an issue for you, PLEASE GIVE THIS EPISODE A MISS.

We turn to 'A Poetical Guide to the Isle of Mann', written by Rev Thomas Stephen and published in 1832. He wrote in the Manx language as well, but we hear from his work in English this time. Thomas Stephen was Vicar of Kirk Patrick for 15 years and was also Vicar-General - though some parts of his work perhaps belie his day job! In our story in Manx, Count Dracula is pressing Jonathan Harker to write to his employer, Peter Hawkins, and to anyone else he wishes - but with a clear threat not to write too much. There's also a dire warning not to fall asleep anywhere else in Castle Dracula but in his own set of rooms. Welcome to Make Yoga Magick Again: The House of Mages Podcast, streaming on all platforms here www.thehouseofmages.com/makeyogamagickagain Follow us on instagram www.instagram.com/thehouseofmages This is one I've looked forward to since I started the podcast. In this episode I chat with author and magician in every sense of the word, Michael Kelly. Born in 1965 on the Isle of Man, a descendant of Celts and Vikings, Michael was brought up on fairy tales told by people who actually still believed in fairies. Surrounded by hills and glens and by that most mystical of natural phenomena: the sea. It's small wonder that he grew up having learned to see around a corner or two, born into this land of magic and mystery. Even after earning disapproval for them during his schooling all the way into his career, his interest in mysticism and the transformative power of storytelling continued, but in a subdued and submissive way. Until the day somone asked him to write a book. Not just any old book, but a book on the ancient Celts, their beliefs and their worldview. Thus he sat down, struggled to learn the disciplines of writing, and eventually finished ‘The Book of Ogham'. Now, nearly 20 years later Michael Kelly has authored over 30 books, Including the groundbreaking Apophis and its expanded titles. Previously a master of The Order of Leviathan; an order within the well respected mystery school the Temple of Set, he dived deeply into the serpentine mysteries, eventually founding what is now known as The Apophis Club. This is a very personal interview for me. Michael Kelly has perhaps been THE most influential person on my magical journey. It was his books that I found about 10 years ago that really gave me the blueprint in which I've been able to build and expand upon my own growth and development. I even trekked to the other side of the world, to a small island called The Isle of Mann to meet with Michael in person, and was accepted as an apprenticed by him in the school known as The Rune Gild, in which he is also an active member and teacher within. So as you can imagine, I'm pretty excited to not only sit down with Michael for this podcast, but to now be sharing his paradigm shattering wisdom with you all. So without further ado, occult and fiction author, bizarre magician & mischievous jester, Michael Kelly. You can find out my about Michael Kelly via www.theapophisclub.com You can find more information about what we do here at The House of Mages by getting in touch with us at www.thehouseofmages.com Thanks for listening!
