The queens are creating supersized trailers for satirical versions of a season of Drag Race that's only just begun. And it's one of the best challenges we've seen in a while. But how much of that is thanks to an “UNHhhh” level of editing? Who cares, we get Willow Pill desperately seeking Jeffrey Bowyer Chapman, DeJa Skye as both a Social Justice Corner queen and a cow, Bosco doing bashful brain surgery and Kornbread rolling off a table. Lohifa Pogoson-Acker is a mother, sister, daughter, entrepreneur, social activist and in Linda's mind, the unofficial Mayor of Hamilton, Canada. Born in Nigeria, Lohifa came to Canada at 16, via the UK. Her parents were professionals and she'd had some opportunities to travel but she was excited about this new adventure, embracing a new country, different cultures and the opportunity to get to know people. A great joy in her life. Her mother was a lawyer and her father a food sciences engineer. While she had chosen biopsychology and economics for her career, she also had a great love of the arts, English and storytelling. She worked at home and abroad in public health including through the Clinton Foundation to fight HIV and AIDS in mothers and their children. But early in life, she discovered a passion for braiding and hairstyling. When she was 8-years old her mother needed her hair styled. She worked at KPMG, and she needed a professional look. Lohifa stepped up and did so well that other family and friends asked her to braid and style their hair for them. What began as a hobby became a passion. She continued to style part-time while she juggled her career and young family. She was encouraged open her own shop do it full-time. As Lohifa talked to her husband about it, he didn't really want her to quit her steady job in at St. Joseph's Healthcare, and he didn't really believe she would. Until one day in 2019, she took the rest of the day off, forever. She began to style fulltime under LoDidThat. Since then she's had a few celebrity clients including receiving a last minute call from supermodel Stacey McKenzie to style her for the debut season of Canada's Drag Race as well as fellow judge, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman. Lo has a busy calendar of client appointments and are much in demand often booked for months in advance. But she hasn't forgotten the people in her community. Lo actively works to promote Hamilton businesses, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ businesses and community initiatives related to food insecurity, violence against women, racism and poverty. She is often boosting others in her Instagram feed, and taking on issues important to her. _______________________________________ Lohifa's Social Media: Instagram is her jam: @lodidthat Website coming soon! The scariest and yet most healing podcast for me to share so far. I added this photo to show the visual component of this episode- the search for balance in my mind has manifested in my physical body over the last few years…I haven't had the courage to listen to it back yet- it was very raw and vulnerable to share some of my experiences around disordered eating, but kindly Vilius has had a wee listen and reassures me that it is valuable for others to hear. The main reason I share this podcast is that I firmly believe that eating disorders, issues around food, and diet can consume and steal our time and our potential. Wasting so much energy and time worrying about food can prevent us from being fully present and creating a life we enjoy and gets in the way of us loving ourselves and others fully. Disordered eating and eating disorders are often a symptom to deeper rooted issues... and this is by no means a podcast to share advice. It is simply a podcast to share my own experiences, healing journey, and thoughts in the hope that someone can relate and feel as peace knowing that you are not alone. Unfortunately, there is a lot of shame and stigma attached to these issues, but I hope that it provides us comfort knowing that we are complex multi-faceted beings. We are more than one thing. We are more than our views; we are more than one moment. We can have parts of ourselves that we want to improve and heal from… but that doesn't make us less than, it makes us human. Healing from ‘disordered eating patterns' can be a long journey. Stress and uncertainty can bring old habits, pain, and negative thoughts back into my life for sure- but there is hope in love, acceptance, vulnerability, courage and compassion for ourself and others- words inspired and feelings by many hours reading and listening to Maya Angelou, Jameela Jamil, Brene Brown, Laverne Cox and Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman to name a few…I hope to have a conversation about some of these issues with another human being soon. It is really challenging to talk about sensitive topics that I have never really shared out loud into a mic to myself without any feedback from someone else. There is a range of support and information available online from podcasts to books, to support groups... depending on the stage of your healing journey.BEAT can be a good one to start withMusic played: Stephen Wake, The Old CopperplateThank you again to everyone who has taken the time to listen to the podcast and share feedback!

In today’s episode, we’ll be talking about Canada’s Drag Race. I really enjoyed the first season and I really think the 2nd season will be super interesting. So we’ll discuss it and its contestants. We’ll talk about the girls, the highs and lows, the fandom’s hate for Jeffrey Bowyer Chapman and finally the winner, Priyanka. We made this episode really quickly so we won’t have a new word of the day from our sister in the closet. We will repeat one we used in the first episode because it is still appropriate.
