Everyone's most anticipated movie of the year (wink, wink) - SNOW WHITE, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot - has released in theaters. Listen, I watched Snow White about as much as any guy when I was younger, but I haven't exactly kept it as a favorite since I was like 5 years old. Also, I'm completely sick of Disney live-action remakes and had less than no interest going into this movie. I do love Marc Webb as a filmmaker though, even though I don't love all his movies, because he's fantastic at creating realistic character relationships onscreen. Snow White, though, wasn't ever exactly going to be the best showcase of his skills. So, did Snow White surpass my rock bottom expectations? Find out in this review!Snow White:Directed by: Marc WebbScreenplay by: Erin Cressida WilsonBased on the fairy tale by: The Brothers GrimmProduced by: Jeff LeBoff, Marc PlattExecutive Producer: Callum McDougallMusic by: Jeff Morrow, Benji Pasek, Justin PaulCinematography by: Mandy WalkerCasting by: Mark SangerProduction Design by: Kave QuinnCostume Design by: Sandy PowellCast: Rachel Zegler, Gal Gadot, Andrew Burnap, Jeremy Swift, Jason Kravitz , Martin Klebba, George Salazar, Tituss Burgess, Andy Gretelueschen, Andrew Barth Feldman, Emilia FaucherSynopsis: A beautiful girl, Snow White, takes refuge in the forest in the house of seven dwarfs to hide from her stepmother, the wicked Queen. The Queen is jealous because she wants to be known as ‘the fairest in the land', and Snow White's beauty surpasses her own.
Singer and actor Tituss Burgess, who rose to fame following his Emmy-nominated performance in the Netflix series “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” says he tries to find musicality in every life experience. He's headed to Saratoga Springs this week to perform his stage show “An Evening with Tituss Burgess,” and joins us on this episode of “The Eagle.” Also on this episode, we'll go over the week's top headlines, which include a foiled murder-for-hire plot and a shooting incident that resulted in the death of a U.S. Border Patrol agent. Tomorrow night, Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga Springs, New York presents “An Evening with Tituss Burgess.Burgess is a marvelous singer and hilarious actor - with range in more ways than one. His Broadway credits include “Good Vibrations,” “Jersey Boys,” “Guys and Dolls,” and “Moulin Rouge!” In 2008, he originated the role of Sebastian in the Broadway adaptation of Disney's “The Little Mermaid.”As for TV: We'll start with an early credit: a recurring role as D'Fwan on NBC's “30 Rock.”Burgess then bodied and embodied Titus Andromedon on Netflix's “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” Andromedon was a talented - though entitled and mostly unmotivated - performer and roommate to Ellie Kemper's title character. Since breaking out (ahem) on "Unbreakable," Burgess' career as an on-screen actor, voice actor and host has thrived.
"Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" is a 2015 Netflix sitcom created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. The show follows the life of Kimmy Schmidt (Ellie Kemper), a relentlessly optimistic woman who, after being rescued from a doomsday cult where she was held captive for 15 years, decides to start a new life in New York City. After four seasons, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt ended when its creators felt that the story had reached a natural conclusion. Rather than stretching the premise or compromising the quality of the show, they decided to wrap it up while it was still fresh and beloved by fans. Will the S1E1 guys want to bunker up and binge this one? Listen as they deep dive the show's pilot episode, "Kimmy Goes Outside!" and find out. Starring: Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess, Carol Kane, Jane Krakowski, Lauren Adams, Sara Chase, Sol Miranda, Matt Lauer & Jon Hamm www.S1E1POD.com MERCH Instagram & X (Twitter): @S1E1Pod

Schmigadoon is back on Apple TV! The second season takes us in a slightly different direction, and today Peter & Nathan explore the theology of the musicals being lovingly "spoofed" by "Schmicago" and wonder what it means that "every day can be a happy beginning." (By the way: if you missed our episode on Schmigadoon Season 1, you can listen here, or wherever you like to listen!) We talk about: – The power of parables, and how stories can (and can't) transform us. – The theology of the Broadway musicals of the 60s & 70s, steeped in sex & nihilism, and how Schmicago navigates – and ultimately rejects – that theology. – We explore the show's ending, and what kind of theology is implicit in the final number. You'll hear: Cecily Strong, Keegan-Michael Key, Kristen Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Tituss Burgess, Dove Cameron, Aaron Tveit and the cast of Schmigadoon Season 2. Continue the conversation with Peter (@pgeinvan) and Nathan (@nathan_lerud) on Twitter, and follow the Gospel of Musical Theatre on Instagram or Twitter @gospelofmt.

Tread Perilously's month of Halloween TV continues with the 30 Rock episode "Stone Mountain." When Jack becomes displeased with Liz Lemon's attempts to find a new cast member, a folksy encounter with Kenneth the Page leads him to Stone Mountain, Georgia for "real American" humor. Liz is with him, of course, but a bad sandwich leaves her in the grips of Peppy Bizmilk. Will Jack's chosen local talent, a ventriloquist, be what TGS needs? Or will he learn some sort of lesson about his assumptions of the South? Meanwhile, Toofer, Frank, and Lutz try to sneak into Gay Halloween and Tracy becomes obsessed with the Rule of Threes. Justin is determined to get cancelled. He also freely admits there are problematic elements to Tina Fey's comedy. It leads to a discussion of the Fantasy genre's love affair with monarchy. Erik also discusses the problem with "the redneck voice." Justin recalls the comedy of the 2000s. Despite not being in the episode, James Marsden gets a shoutout. The pair also, once again, praise Jane Krakowski. They also compare the chuckle in various parts of the country and try to imagine Tituss Burgess as a Star Trek character. Also, unkind things about Jimmy Fallon may be said.

Dr. Jacqui Lewis, Author of Fierce Love: A Bold Path to Ferocious Courage, and Rule-Breaking Kindness That Can Change The World. Dr. Jacqui Lewis is an activist, preacher, public theologian toward creating an antiracist, just, fully welcoming society in which everyone has enough. After graduating with an M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1992, Jacqui fell in love with urban ministry, leading two churches in Trenton, New Jersey. Fascinated with how faith heals the soul—so we can heal the world—she returned to graduate school, for a Ph.D. in Psychology and Religion from Drew University (2004). Jacqui went to Middle Church, received a call, and joined the staff in January 2004. Believing faith communities can lead the way to racial reconciliation, Dr. Lewis co-founded The Middle Project and The Revolutionary Love Conference with her spouse, The Rev. John Janka, which train leaders to create a more just society. Each year, Dr. Lewis curates a national justice conference—Revolutionary Love—which features speakers from many disciplines who are working to create a world based on a public ethic of love. America Ferrera, Ani Di Franco, Tituss Burgess, Van Jones, Valarie Kaur, William J. Barber II, Melissa Harris-Perry, Wajahat Ali, Linda Sarsour, Sharon Brous, Brian McLaren, angel Kyodo Williams and Ruby Sales are some of the speakers who have graced the Revolutionary Love stage. During the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, I had the honor of having some of the most extraordinary raw unedited conversations with many of my friends. It was so hard for me not to be a fan. I never ask them these questions. So all of this was new to me. Ron left me alone so I had no supervision. Yes…I annoyed myself getting too excited. (Laughing) Still I'm grateful all of this happened. Season 2 of Listenback The Podcast opens the first episode with Emmy Nominated Actor and Recording Artist Tituss Burgess (UnBreakable Kimmy Schmidt, RESPECT). One special moment he shares is the phone call he had just received during this time, coming off of the heels of his tribute at Carnegie Hall to the late Great Stephen Sondheim. Produced by Ron T.
