Ryan presses Dan on whether the revelations on Trump's position regarding abortion, considering a federal ban at 15 weeks, might cause him to lean more heavily toward an endorsement of Ron DeSantis in the GOP primary for Colorado. Dan explains why he can still support Trump based on his actions and record as President, so long as he doesn't feel Trump has gone fully to the pro-abortion position like Joe O'Dea did in the U.S. Senate race. Also, Dan has his first chance to respond to the wild developments in Rep. Lauren Boebert's trip to Buell Theatre to see the stage production of 'Beetlejuice.'

Episode 74: Countdown With Keith Olbermann A-Block (1:45) Let me tell you what is to come: Trump and DeSantis will both run for the '24 Republican Nomination. When DeSantis wins, Trump will run anyway as an independent, cinching the White House for Biden (or any Democrat) (2:05) The Republican establishment has, overnight, turned on Trump and burned the bridges to him. The front page of Murdoch's New York Post has an illustration of Trump as an egg, atop a wall, and in big block letters: "TRUMPTY DUMPTY" and a column inside nicknames him "Toxic Trump." (7:00) Let's review your doubts: Do you doubt DeSantis will run? You think he made that two-minute miniature Bible Epic movie just to run up the score in Florida? Do you doubt the GOP has bailed? Peter King has just said Trump "should no longer be the face of the Republican Party." (12:10) Now Kevin McCarthy gets to lead an impotent, fractured Republican party in the House with not enough power to crush the crazies but not enough power to impeach Biden, either (11:50) And Trump got them a runoff in Georgia where the 203,000 Georgians who voted for Brian Kemp but did not vote for Herschel Walker are really expected to vote for Walker in the runoff?  B-Block (17:00) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Spaghetti in Staten Island (18:22) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Glenn Youngkin apologizes to the Pelosis but only after the election is over, and competes with Chris Cillizza and Elon Musk screwing twitter into the ground and threatening to turn your non-blue-checked tweets into junk mail, for the honors. ( 23:14) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: The story of the anniversary of my late beloved puppy Mishu. EPISODE 73: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT There WAS a Red Wave: A wave goodbye to your tsunami. Sanity got up off the mat. We beat the undead zombies with some well placed shovels. Fetterman defeated Oz. Free Crudites for EVERYONE. This could turn out to be the BEST midterms for any first-term president in decades. Joe Biden just went from nomination Dark Horse, to superhero Dark Brandon. And as a bonus, regardless of who ultimately gets the House and who gets the Senate, among Republicans, Trump will get much of the blame. B-Block (15:00) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Princess Wiggles in New York (15:58) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: 1/6 Commish interviews Trump's driver, big countries may finally pony up at COP27, Zelenskyy softens stance on negotiations with Russia (18:15) IN SPORTS: Dusty Baker will return, invoking memories of Jesse Orosco and the poet Rolfe Humphries (21:11) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Peacock, with its upcoming Casey Anthony series, battles Tucker "One of the Largest Sources of Death Threats" Carlson and Brett "Another Day, Another Scandal" Favre for the dishonors. C-Block (25:55) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: 25 years since I met her and nearly as long since I went out on a date with Laura Ingraham. It was worse than you'd expect, and it was followed by a second date that was actually closer to me being kidnapped and held hostage. But I learned a valuable lesson about how - and how efficiently - "The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" actually works, that remains instructive to this day.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Abortionist quit after pastor preached only pro-life sermon, GOP Senatorial candidates' stance on abortion, Muslim twin car bombings kill 100 in Somalia

It's Election Day, Tuesday, November 8th, A.D. 2022.  This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Indian pastor slashed by assailants Attacks on Christian pastors continue in India. One pastor was cruelly assaulted and slashed up by three assailants in Northern India in September, reports Morning Star News. A part-time taxi driver, Pastor Sukhdev Mark, had shared his faith with a Sikh, who allegedly arranged the assault. Thankfully, the pastor was able to make it to a hospital for treatment.  Pray that he will completely heal from his wounds. Muslim twin car bombings kill 100 in Somalia A Muslim terrorist attack on October 30th in Mogadishu, Somalia resulted in at least 100 deaths, including some elderly folk, women, and children. The twin car bombings, which had targeted the country's ministry of education, injured an additional 300 people, reports CBS News. Reportedly, it was the worst act of terrorism in six years. Claiming responsibility is an Islamic fundamentalist group known as Al Shabaab. U.S. Senate still a toss-up Today is mid-term election day in the United States! The 270towin.com summary puts the U.S. Senate in a neck-and-neck, Republican-Democrat race. The races in Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Georgia are all too close to call. New Hampshire is leaning Democrat. Ohio and Nevada are both leaning Republican. The same 270towin website favors Republicans in the House, by a ratio of 222 to 200.  The political winds, and “the lot is cast into the lap but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord.” (Proverbs 16:33) Make sure to cast a Biblically-informed vote with the help of iVoterGuide.com GOP Senatorial candidates' stance on abortion Will the pro-life candidates win U.S. Senate seats in this election today? Here are the Republican candidates' stances on abortion. New Hampshire Republican Don Bolduc will not push for federal legislation restricting abortion. Neither will Ron Johnson from Wisconsin, Adam Laxalt from Nevada, Joe O'Dea from Colorado, Mehmet Oz from Pennsylvania, or Tiffany Smiley from Washington state. By contrast, pro-life U.S. Senate candidates who favor federal abortion restrictions include Herschel Walker in Georgia, J.D. Vance in Ohio, Marco Rubio in Florida, Blake Masters in Arizona, Mike Lee in Utah, and Chuck Grassley in Iowa. More women registering to vote and voting than men Since the Dobbs decision reversed Roe v. Wade on June 24th, women have been registering to vote at higher rates than ever. Since July, the total number of women registering to vote increased by 35%, while the increase for male registrations hit 9%, reports Voice of America. The most enthusiastic increase in participation occurred in Kansas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Florida. For the last few elections, there were 4% more women voting than men. That trend has continued since 1980, when equal ratios of men and women voted.   According to the Center for American Women and Politics, in the 2016 and 2020 elections, 13% and 15% more women respectively voted Democrat than Republican. That compares to the 1988 presidential election, when 1% more women voted Republican than Democrat.  As you vote today, remember the words of Proverbs 17:15. “He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord.” Bad time to buy a house The U.S. housing market is registering the lowest level consumer confidence since the poll has been taken. A recent Fannie Mae survey found that only 16% of consumers thought this was a good time to buy a home. The average 30-year mortgage rate hit 7.25% on Monday, reports The New York Times. The average house payment for the average home buy has increased by 121% since January of 2020, from $1,434 to $3,174. Realtor.com reports an increase of 77% on the average mortgage payment just since last year at this time. That would put the average house payment at about 49% of the median U.S. household income.  Powerball lottery grand prize tops $1.9 billion As of Monday, the American Powerball grand prize stands at a world record of $1.9 billion. Powerball is run by 46 states, a form of gambling encouraged by state governments.  Of monies collected from the gamblers, about 10% goes to administrative costs, 55% goes to prizes, 5% goes to retailers, and 30% ends up in state coffers as a tax on the poor, reports LiveAbout. Bankrate.com found that 28% of the lowest-income households in America play the lottery weekly. By contrast, only 19% of families with higher incomes do so. Financially-strapped households spend an average of $412 on lottery tickets in a year.  Former abortionist quit after pastor preached only pro-life sermon And finally, CBN provides an excellent interview of a doctor who repented of performing abortions. To his credit, he has taken on the campaign against the California Abortion Amendment.   But here's how Dr. Vansen Wong quit doing abortions.  It took a pastor with the courage to preach against abortion. Listen to this. WONG: “When I reached the point where I knew abortion --  I couldn't continue anymore -- was the only time our pastor has ever spoken about abortion. And this was during the time when the partial-birth abortion ban was being discussed. “You know, in a growing church, you have to be kind of politically correct and not really be too in your face. But it was an uncharacteristic description of that barbaric procedure that made me realize, ‘My God, you are telling me that abortion is wrong.'” Dr. Wong realized that abortion, no matter the size of the child, was morally wrong. “Within a short period of time as I was walking back to the parking lot, I realized that what I was doing with my small plastic tube was no less barbaric than what people who were doing these partial-birth abortions were doing. The body parts were smaller, for me, but the act and the effect on that little baby was just as barbaric.” We have the CBN interview with the former abortionist linked in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com.  It's worth watching! Two Weeks Away From a Red Tsunami or Another Stolen Election

NOQ Report

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 25, 2022 62:19

There are only two possible outcomes two weeks from today. Either there will be a massive red tsunami that will give the GOP control of the House and the Senate along with multiple wins at the state level compared to few surprising losses, or we'll have a repeat of 2020. We know this because the polls are close in races that normally lean very much Democrat. Considering the polls are invariably tilted to favor Democrats by between 4- and 12-points, it's mathematically impossible for them to come out of this election without massive losses.Of course, this is 2022. This is the age of propaganda followed by voter fraud followed by gaslighting, just like we saw in 2020 and beyond. We've been seeing the propaganda in "neutral" corporate media for some time, but that would happen whether there was a plan to steal the midterms or not. We won't know how boldly they're going to manufacture wins for Democrats until after election day, but know this: If we see anything short of a massive red wave that gives full control of Capitol Hill to Republicans, we can blame voter fraud. The House of Representatives being turned over to Republicans is pretty much a foregone conclusion. Even with massive voter fraud, it's actually much harder to contaminate House races because the districts are smaller. It would take voter fraud operations in at least 20 districts across the country. To steal the 2020 election, they had operations in 8 or 9 districts that flipped the states necessary for Joe Biden to win.The Senate is a bit more challenging because there are far fewer races — 35 Senate seats compared to all 435 up for grabs in the House. Of those 35, most are already secured to be red or blue. There are only about a dozen races that are really in question. The four most likely races the Democrats could flip should all be won by Republicans. Ron Johnson should be safe in Wisconsin despite the race being currently called a "toss up." Ted Budd will win in North Carolina and J.D. Vance will win in Ohio. As for John Fetterman vs Dr. Mehmet Oz, that's the seat that has the best chance of being flipped to the Democrats. If it is, that would put them at 51-49.But there are six vulnerable Democrat seats and I can see at least four of them being flipped. As much as I like Tiffany Smiley, she will need some major help to beat Patty Murray in Washington. She's surging, albeit a bit late. Mark Kelly is vulnerable and if Blake Masters can ride the red wave properly he should flip Arizona. Joe O'Dea is a massive RINO so I think he loses to Michael Bennet in Colorado. Don Bolduc has a shot against Maggie Hassan in New Hampshire. That leaves Herschel Walker in Georgia and Adam Laxalt in Nevada. I believe both races will flip red.Smiley and O'Dea will likely lose, but I believe the other four seats will be flipped which, if Fetterman wins in Pennsylvania, would put the count at 53-47 for Republicans. That means I can be wrong about two races and the GOP still retakes control. If Democrats "miraculously" keep a 50-50 tie to give Chuck Schumer another round as Majority Leader, we can look to voter fraud in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Nevada as the most likely arenas for voter fraud to have won out.Not surprisingly, those happen to be four of the states that many believe were stolen in the 2020 presidential election. On today's episode of The JD Rucker Show, I broke down why I believe there will be either a red tsunami or the election was stolen. There's actually a third scenario in which the Arizona and Pennsylvania races are the primary focus of voter fraud. The powers-that-be do not want Kari Lake or Doug Mastriano to win because they would have access to voter fraud information from 2020 that they would likely reveal to the world. Their races aren't just about stopping America First patriots from being in office. It's about continuing the gaslighting about the 2020 election.

Let's get into it: COLORADO NEWSLINE: RINO hunters looking for a bloodbathAs county clerks across Colorado prepared to send out mail ballots to voters on Monday, former President Donald Trump weighed in on one of the state's most-watched 2022 races.Trump blasted Republican U.S. Senate candidate Joe O'Dea, a Denver construction CEO, as a “RINO,” or Republican in name only, over comments O'Dea made about a potential 2024 Trump presidential campaign. In a Sunday appearance on CNN's State of the Union, O'Dea was asked whether the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol should disqualify Trump from running again. O'Dea called the events of Jan. 6 “a black eye for our country,” though he has previously said he doesn't believe Trump deserves blame for the Capitol attack.“I don't think Donald Trump should run again,” O'Dea said Sunday. “I'm going to actively campaign against Donald Trump and make sure that we've got four or five really great Republicans right now — Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Tim Scott. They can run and serve for eight years.”Trump responded in a post on his Truth Social website: “MAGA doesn't Vote for stupid people with big mouths”O'Dea faces an uphill battle against incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet, a Democrat who is seeking his third full Senate term, in a state that has trended increasingly blue in recent elections. Bennet has led O'Dea in recent polling by an average of eight percentage points, according to FiveThirtyEight.A first-time candidate who has pitched himself as a moderate on social issues, O'Dea has walked a tightrope throughout his campaign as he seeks to win over moderate voters without alienating the conservative Republican base.He did not publicly state his opposition to a Trump 2024 bid until after the June GOP primary, when he defeated far-right state Rep. Ron Hanks with 55% of the vote. His campaign clarified that O'Dea would still support Trump in the general election if the former president wins the GOP nomination, but O'Dea has since backed off of that position in interviews.GOP state Rep. Dave Williams, a far-right election denier who mounted an unsuccessful primary challenge against U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn earlier this year, reacted to Trump's comments in a Twitter post.“Ouch,” Williams wrote. “Maybe Joe's campaign shouldn't alienate the base 3 weeks before an election.”Trump's criticism follows Ron Hanks' endorsement of the Libertarian in the Senate race, Bryan Peotter, who has put election denial and total opposition to abortion at the center of his campaign. The Libertarian wrote on Twitter that Trump's attack on O'Dea “reads like an endorsement for my campaign pretty clearly.”In an Oct. 7 appearance on the conservative “Chuck and Julie Show,” Ron Hanks, who received just under 45% of the vote in the GOP's June primary, said neither Peotter nor O'Dea have a chance of beating Bennet - and that Republican voters should vote for Peotter to send a message to party leaders.“It's our time now as grassroots Colorado conservatives to step in. We have a big battle ahead to try to reform this leadership,” said Hanks. “It's got to be a bloodbath.”COLORADO NEWSLINE: Will Colorado legalize psychedelic mushrooms?Ten years after Colorado voters made history by approving the ballot measure that legalized recreational marijuana, this November's Proposition 122 would allow licensed ‘healing centers' and decriminalize personal use of some hallucinogens. The Natural Medicine Health Act would establish a regulated market for psilocybin and psilocyn, the psychoactive compounds found in psychedelic mushrooms. Placed on the 2022 ballot by a citizen initiative, it will become law if a majority of Colorado voters give their approval. The measure would allow licensed “healing centers” to provide access to psilocybin and psilocyn for therapeutic purposes. It would also decriminalize the “personal use” of the substances, allowing people to possess and grow psychedelic mushrooms in their own homes.GET THE MORNING HEADLINES DELIVERED TO YOUR INBOXNatural Medicine Colorado, the group backing the effort says “Natural psychedelic medicines are non-addictive, and can have profound benefits for people struggling with mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, opioid use disorder, and those struggling to find peace at the end of their lives.”Proposition 122 qualified for the ballot in July after organizers submitted more than the required 124,632 valid signatures to the secretary of state's office. An issue committee backing the measure has reported more than $2.8 million in contributions, according to campaign finance disclosures.Nearly all of that funding came from New Approach PAC, a Washington, D.C.-based PAC that advocates for drug policy reform. Top donors to the group include the van Ameringen Foundation, Scotts Miracle-Gro and Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps.New Approach PAC supported successful mushroom decriminalization measures in Oregon and Washington, D.C., in 2020. If voters approve Proposition 122, Colorado would become the third jurisdiction in the country to legalize psilocybin.Denver voters took a more limited step towards the decriminalization of psychedelic mushrooms in 2019, approving a measure that directed police to make possession of psychedelics the city's ”lowest law-enforcement priority.”Legalization advocates point to a vast body of existing research showing that psychedelics can be effective in treating depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental health conditions. The federal Food and Drug Administration has designated psilocybin as a “breakthrough therapy” for the treatment of major depressive disorder.Luke Gruber, an initiative backer and a Marine veteran who suffered from PTSD and depression after serving in Afghanistan, says psilocybin therapy “changed his life.”He said, “I can't really describe the experience, but I can describe what it was like after my first treatment with natural medicine. It was like being reminded of what hope felt like.”If passed, Proposition 122 would establish a 15-member Natural Medicine Advisory Board to oversee the regulation of psychedelic substances. The first licenses for regulated providers would be issued beginning in September 2024. Pending recommendations from the advisory board, other substances, including DMT and mescaline, could be added to the program in 2026.I WILL BE VOTING YES. COLORADO NEWSLINE: SHE'S JUST BLOWING SMOKEKirkmeyer repeats false Colorado oil and gas claims in 8th District debate against CaraveoIn a recent debate in the race for Colorado's new 8th Congressional District, right-wing GOP State Sen. Barbara Kirkmeyer took the opportunity to repeat a series of false claims about the oil and gas industry, and the impacts of a 2019 law sponsored by her Democratic opponent, state Rep. Dr. Yadira Caraveo.Kirkmeyer called the package of new health, safety and environmental reforms a “de facto ban on oil and gas. We went from 5,100 permits approved in 2018 down to about, I think, 22 — 22 permits this year, something approximately in that area,” she claimed. So, it's not 22. It's actually 842 new drilling permits that have been approved this year. Nearly 40 times higher than what Kirkmeyer claimed. In total, there are 1,314 active drilling permits held by Colorado oil and gas producers as of last week. She made a similar false claim in March, asserting that only four permits had been issued at that point in the year. The true figure was 125.Colorado's oil production levels have dipped slightly from their 2019 peak, but remain near historic highs. Producers within the state are on pace to pump more than 156 million barrels of crude oil out of Colorado this year. That's higher than every other year prior to 2018, and it's more than five times the volume being pumped in Colorado ten years ago. Drillers have reduced growth plans and capital budgets in large part due to the demands of Wall Street investors, who flooded the industry with cheap credit amid the 2010s fracking boom, but have since sought to prioritize more profitable streams of revenue.Kirkmeyer claimed that SB-181 “killed thousands of jobs” in the 8th District, which encompasses an area in north metro Denver and Weld County that is home to the vast majority of Colorado's oil production. Asked why the same trends were observed in drilling-friendly states like Texas and Wyoming recently, Kirkmeyer said, “I have no idea what other laws, or what other kinds of regulations, or what else was going on in those states.” Kirkmeyer also denied the scientific consensus on fossil fuels and climate change. Dr. Caraveo, the Democratic candidate, is a pediatrician who has seen the impacts of drilling and refinery operations in the lungs of the innocent kids who come into her clinic. The Suncor refinery, one of Colorado's largest sources of air pollution, is located within the new district. Dr. Caraveo said 2019's oil and gas reform bill was moderate, and incorporated industry input. The 8th District, the boundaries of which were drawn last year by Colorado's first-ever Independent Redistricting Commission, is the state's most competitive. According to the commission's analysis, former President Donald Trump would have won the district by 1.7 percentage points in the 2016 election, while Democratic Sen. John Hickenlooper would have carried the district by the same margin in his defeat of former GOP Sen. Cory Gardner in 2020. Nonpartisan elections analysts rate the race as a toss-up.ARIZONA MIRROR:Oath Keepers are planning to watch drop boxes in Arizona, spurred by conspiracy theories. The groups' violent rhetoric has advocates worried, and some local politicians are stirring the pot. The increased attention to ballot drop boxes comes in the wake of the debunked film “2000 Mules” about a completely made up ballot stuffing operation supposedly benefitting Democratic candidates. Now, groups are organizing events to keep an eye on drop boxes in Arizona. One of those groups is connected directly to the Arizona chapter of the Oath Keepers, a known white supremacist group. They're calling their midterm voter intimidation efforts “Operation Drop Box.” On its website the group members describe themselves as “conservative patriots” who say the country has been hijacked global elites, communists, leftists, deep state bureaucrats, and fake news.”Jim Arroyo, the leader of the Arizona Oath Keepers said the group sent emails to everyone in the group's roster, about 1,000 people. In an Oath Keeprs meeting, Arroyo said “For the November election we would like to post people at drop boxes to have eyes on target to be able to notify law enforcement. We have already coordinated with Sheriff Rhodes and he told us that if we see somebody stuffing a ballot box and we get a license plate number, that deputies would make an arrest and there will be a prosecution.” County Sheriff David Rhodes has spoken to the Arizona chapter of the Oath Keepers on two separate occasions. In an August 2021 meeting, he said “I've got to tell you, this is one of my favorite groups. It is great to be with friends” When asked about coordination between the Sheriff, Lions of Liberty and the Oath Keepers. County spokesperson Kristin Greene said “Sheriff Rhodes has zero to do with their effort to watch the drop boxes.”Rhodes also spoke to the group in late September, a meeting which the Sheriff's Office said was to educate the group on what was legal and what was not legal for the group to do. The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office told the group members that as long as they stay 75 feet away from the drop boxes, they are within their legal rights, but any closer and they could be violating the law. The county is also at the center of another effort led by former Graham County Sheriff Richard Mack, who leads the so-called Constitutional Sheriffs Association, an extremist anti-government group.  CSPOA and the Oath Keepers have long had close ties.State Sen. Kelly Townsend, a Republican, called on “vigilantes” to camp out on drop boxes. At a legislative hearing all about indulging wild conspiracy theories, she said, “I have been so pleased to hear about all you vigilantes out there that want to camp out at these drop boxes. We're going to have hidden trail cameras, we are going to have people parked out there watching you and they are going to follow you to your car and get your license plate, so don't try it. Don't try it anymore.” Lake Havasu Republican Sonny Borrelli has also made similar calls while at an election security forum. “We need to be force multipliers,” Borrelli told the crowd in Tempe. “We need to have people camped on unmanned drop boxes and camp on those and keep an eye on them and take down that data, license plates, pictures and so on and so forth.”Concerned voter advocates are advising that .ocal law enforcement may not be the best option for a voter to turn to, if you end up feeling intimidated at the polls - instead suggesting contacting local election officials, the election protection hotline, or federal law enforcement. Voter intimidation is a federal crime, one that is enforced by the FBI and Department of Justice. When asked for comment about the situation with white supremacists camping out at ballot drop boxes, United States Attorney for Arizona Gary Restaino said “Enough with the election deniers and fear-mongers, who only seek to undermine our democratic process. I'm proud to live in a state that endeavors to remove barriers to voting, and that has long believed in vote-by-mail. Working in partnership with our state and local election officials, the Department of Justice will do its very best to ensure that every eligible voter who chooses to vote can do so easily and efficiently, without interference or discrimination.”Most importantly, voters shouldn't let wackos like the Oath Keepers and so-called Constitutional Sheriffs keep you from participating in American democracy. ON THAT NOTE:Arizona's General Election has officially begun, with ballots being sent out across the state to voters who have signed up to receive them by mail, and with polling places opening up for early voting. Voters who have registered for mail-in ballots will begin receiving their ballots soon, and can check the status of their ballot at my.arizona.voteThose who have not yet requested a mail-in ballot have until Oct. 28 to do so. NEVADA CURRENT:Nevada launches opioid task force as fentanyl overdoses increaseThe Nevada Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Attorney General Aaron Ford and Gov. Steve Sisolak have launched an opioid task force designed to provide technical assistance, guidance and resources to local and state jurisdictions amid the rise of opioid overdoses. The increase in overdoses is associated with fentanyl, which is 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times more powerful than morphine. Fentanyl is often found in other drugs like cocaine and pills and is not detectable without a chemical test. Between July and August in Nevada, emergency department visits from suspected opioid-related deaths increased by 66% - and emergency department visits from suspected stimulant-related overdoses increased by 50%.For those looking for help, visit: behavioralhealthnv.org in Nevada, or can call the free, confidential, national treatment and referral hotline at 1-800-662-4357. 1-800-662-helpTo find free naloxone or learn about using fentanyl test strips in Nevada, visit nvopioidresponse.orgLast year, 107,000 Americans died from opioid overdoses. Concert pick of the Week: Todd Snider at Washington's FOCOTodd Snider is an American singer/songwriter who is 1000x more fucking badass than implied by that term. This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, Republican Senate candidate Joe O'Dea appoints himself the arbiter of the balance of women's rights; finally, a man who is brave enough and strong enough to tell women what rights they can and cannot have! The battles for Colorado's competitive congressional seats are heating up, and Ian personally doesn't have any stake in the outcome whatsoever. We've got another fundraising quarter in the books for statewide contests, and it appears only one side of the aisle knows there's a campaign going on. There's also no indication that significant national Republican money is coming to Colorado because the GOP needs to help a bunch of other asshats in key states. A local MAGA millionaire says he'll light a huge bucket of money on fire because he doesn't like Jared Polis, or something. The Kevin Priola recall clock is ticking, and you'll never believe which day is their deadline to submit signatures. Oh, and the race is on for Denver Mayor despite the current election still being 8 weeks away!

Sam and Emma break down the biggest headlines of the day, beginning with the massive water crisis in Jackson, Mississippi leaving over 180,000 without running water, also walking through how Brian Kemp was called to testify in the GA trials, and the GOP's continued push on pointless political culture wars like high school sports. Next, they dive into the other lackluster yet vitriolic rhetoric coming from the right, particularly with their moralizing of student loans – despite mass swaths of the US population holding them – and take on the recent revelations that Tony Ornato, Cassidy Hutchinson's source in the secret service on Donald Trump's 1/6 freakout, has suddenly quit. They also cover the three incredible pieces of legislation coming to the floor in California, bolstering affordable housing production, promoting living wages, and giving labor leverage to fast food workers, also parsing through where Gavin Newsome will fall in these fights. Wrapping up the news day, Sam and Emma get into the midterms as they continue to heat up, with Biden finally departing from the “ultra-MAGA” tact, now calling them “MAGA republicans,” and admitting to their “semi-fascist” status, also walking through the absence of a real message from the GOP, with conservative Joe O'Dea claiming to run on the great platform of “mitigating circumstances” around abortion, and Blake Masters wiping his website of the big three party policies of great replacement theory, the big lie, and an abortion ban. And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma dive deeper into the GOP's problems heading into the midterms, with JD Vance trailing the ever-bland Tim Ryan, Minnesota Statehouse Republican Mark Bishofsky proclaiming the GOP platform of “your pain, my gain,” and Donald Trump's lawyer calls on his base to use the raid of Mar-a-Lago as a galvanizing force comparable to… Pearl Harbor. Sam reflects on the Confessions of an Economic Hitman, Joe Rogan endorses a GOP vote with Aaron Rodgers, Mike Lindell continues to be blacklisted by nobody, and JK Rowling continues to engage in both self-obsession and stochastic terrorism. In Colorado's hotly contested Senate primary, Joe O'Dea came out victorious. O'Dea beat opponent Rep. Ron Hanks, who despite being 'far-right,' was the Democrats' preferred candidate to face Senator Michael Bennett in the fall. Joe O'Dea is making his political debut with his Senate campaign. O'Dea is a businessman and CEO who believes his background in the construction industry gives him an edge with blue-collar voters. He discusses how his business has been impacted by inflation and rising gas prices, and how that helps him relate to Coloradans facing these issues every day. Due to time limitations, we could not include all of the interview in our original segment.
