Join Desmond and Scott as they dive into the chaotic world of "Mega Time Squad" from 2018. This 86-minute New Zealand comedy offers a unique take on time travel, filled with dry humor and a plot that spirals into delightful chaos. With a bracelet that allows limited time travel, our protagonist, John, finds himself in a loop of clones, crime, and comedic misadventures. In this episode, we explore the film's humorous take on time travel mechanics, the cultural nuances of New Zealand comedy, and the complexities of tracking multiple versions of the same character. Desmond attempts to unravel the tangled web of timelines, while Scott contemplates the film's thematic elements, including the recurring motif of "growing nuts."Join the conversation as we discuss the film's strengths and weaknesses, from its low-budget charm to its sometimes confusing narrative. We also debate the portrayal of folklore within the movie and whether the film's humor lands for audiences outside of New Zealand.(00:00) This is time pop, a podcast that discusses time travel and pop culture (02:24) So today we're gonna talk about mega Time squad from Mega Time Squad from 2018 (04:25) This movie is number 55 on Barry's list of best time travel films (07:07) Barry gives everything a number, and then he divides by 100 (09:14) Megaton is a New Zealand comedy with dry New Zealand humor (10:41) We gather quickly that these guys work for a New Zealand crime boss (13:00) The symbolism of nuts is major, uh, in this film (13:32) John takes money and then he gets the bracelet. So we're gonna get into this real fast (14:20) Scott: This movie is so small. There's no timeline on online (15:05) John travels back in time only, but not in space (18:59) This film feels like it was made in, like, the late nineties (23:45) There's a love interest with them. One of them becomes the demon later (27:55) Obviously, movies handle this where people try to kill other versions of themselves (31:45) In the end, there is two. So is what, the folklore is met (34:38) This film plays with the idea of making copies of yourself with time (39:14) Desmond: The movie is highly praised. Critics, too. It's a cult film (43:39) Low budget comedy with laugh out loud humor that peters out towards end (44:46) Scott: God, is this better or worse than my greatest hits (46:37) Desmond: I give this movie a mid the middle rating (49:09) Scott Lifton: We're still live right now, Desmond McNeeseMore FREE Podcasts at whatsoundsawesome.com/ or wherever you find fine, free podcasts.Show notes created by https://headliner.app Show notes created by https://headliner.app

The B-Crew goes back and back and back and back and a little under in time for a New Zealand, time travelling, Demon avoiding, mob stealing heist! John, a small town crook, discovers an ancient bracelet that gives him the power to travel through time. Does he use this to make the world a better place? Of course not! He uses it to build the best team of thieves he knows – multiple versions of himself. Together with himselves, he sets out to steal his gang leader’s money and woo the love of his life. It’s Mega Time Squad!Intro and outro music: https://www.purple-planet.com “Silver Sparkles”
John steals money and a bracelet/temporal dislocator from a Chinese antiques shop. Fleeing, he triggers the device and goes minutes back in time. The time travels result in new Johns and they form the Mega Time Squad.

K cestování v čase dnes už není potřeba luxusní auto značky DeLorean, kterým se v osmdesátkách vracel do budoucnosti Marty McFly a Doc Brown. Afroamerickým teenagerům z filmu See You Yesterday a novozélandskému buranovi z komedie Mega Time Squad stačí vybavení ze středoškolské fyzikářské laboratoře nebo prastarý čínský talisman.
Welcome to the latest episode of The Pick of the Flicks Podcast from Flickering Myth, in which a different guest stops by each week to chat about their favourite movie. This week, film director Tim van Dammen discusses his barmy new film Mega Time Squad and takes a deep dive into the nightmarish long grass of the 1960s Japanese horror Onibaba. We chat about the surreal, erotically-charged imagery of the film's world and the rich symbolism of its iconic mask.If you enjoy the podcast, please subscribe on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify and Player FM and leave us a comment, rating or review. We’re joined by long-time listener, first-time guest Chris Jones! And this time we’re watching 1985’s “Fright Night”. A film in which indiscreet vampires eat a lot of fruit, a future porn star turns into a wolf and Roddy McDowall is the fucking man! Along the way, we discuss the career of the late lamented Larry Cohen, “Mega Time Squad” and “Love Death + Robots”. Watch (or re-watch) to avoid spoilers, and join us.

Dazu gehören natürlich „The Rise of Skywalker“ und der passende Trailer dazu. Zum Beispiel "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile“ oder „El Angel“ oder „You Might Be The Killer“ und dann auch „Dragged Across Concrete“.

Welcome to Episode 135 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, Nate, Jake and Matt Orrin) are joined by Monica Nevi, a comic and film maker based out of Los Angeles, at the Sexpot Comedy Studios located above the awesome Mutiny Information Cafe for another packed episode of geeky goodness. Monica, much like Jeff, is a big basketball fan so we talked a lot about the NBA and the WNBA. We talked about the greatness of old teams, the movement of teams like the Seattle Supersonics, and her documentary webseries 80 for 80. On it, she interviews octogenarians with sports related questions. Well, you can't talk about sports, like basketball, without mentioning Space Jam. Monica shared her favorite line from that movie, which involved a conversation between Bill Murray and Michael Jordan. Could we see more basketball related movies, or TV shows? Maybe we could get a new channel, such as The CWNBA? Daredevil season 3 has been released on Netflix and the man with no fear definitely doesn't disappoint this time around, neither does Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk. This all happened at the same time that Netflix dropped Iron Fist, and Luke Cage, from their roster of shows. The last came as a surprise to all, and we throw our thoughts out on why this happened. Is it because of Disney releasing their own streaming service in the near future? Does it have to do with ratings? Listen to find out. Matt Orrin just got back from the Telluride Horror Show, a horror film festival set in one of the most beautiful parts of Colorado, and talks about the fun times he had. He met Stephen Chiodo, director of Killer Klowns from Outer Space, and even hung out with him over the weekend. They were Festies! There were a lot of fun, and some scary, movies at the fest and they talked about one call Mega Time Squad, which allows a person with the cursed amulet to create a copy of himself and go back in time. Not exactly like Madrox, the Multiple Man, but that led to interesting conversations about him. How many copies can he make of himself, and does he lose strength and power with each copy? If you could copy yourself, how many would YOU need to get through each day? We put the magic number at around 3-4 copies. We finish up with the regular topics, such as CW shows, comic books, new movies, and Clint Howard. We also talk about the new Halloween movie, which Nate saw and enjoyed. He talks about it but there are no big spoilers. If you havent already checked out Denver Open Media, and what they have offered then go to https://www.denveropenmedia.org As you might already know, we'll be on Tuesday nights at 10pm. That's a wrap! The boy finish there coverage of the Calgary International Film Festival with a variety of wierd stuff. Hope you Lars Heads are ready becuase we cover the new THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT. We also hit a cool doc about blues music with SATAN AND ADAM. We find out if New Zealand is a real place in MEGA TIME SQUAD. Buck was tricked once again into watching a shitty David Robert Mitchell movie called UNDER THE SILVER LAKE. We also cover the wierd a wonderful LONG DAYS JOURNEY INTO NIGHT which has an abrupt 50 minute unintrupeted shot that makes you put on 3D glass mid way through the film.
In this year's off-peak release schedule are two comedies from either side of the Tasman – a safe, Australian romantic comedy called The Flip Side for no discernable reason, and a rickety, unsafe Kiwi romp called Mega Time Squad.

We thought we were done. You thought we were done. And we are. But we got a little homesick for some good ol’ fashioned Cinecast magic. And today’s films up for discussion could not have scratched that itch any better. It’s been close to ten months since the boys last spoke and so naturally we need to take some time to play catch-up with our cinematic lives over that time. 2017 stand outs, what’s been on the radar for 2018 and so forth. And then we get into full SPOILER discussions of Boots Riley’s magnetic Sorry to Bother You as well as Tom Cruise’s stunt extravaganzza, Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Kurt, once again, visited Montreal for the always entertaining “Fantasia Film Festival” while Andrew stayed home and watch Kevin Costner on the small screen. The Cinecast is resurrected one more time and there’s a lot to catch up on here folks, so let’s get to it… As always, please join the conversation by leaving your own thoughts in the comment section below and again, thanks for listening!
