I hear it often, even from motorcycle riders traveling on vacation. I often hear it as I meet vacationers in the National Park. If people tell me that they are leaving for home the next day, they often say “We have to go back to reality”. Maybe, they've got it all wrong. Maybe they have it backwards. Perhaps they have been in reality all along.Support the show

A thrill-seeking motorcyclist has an accident and lies in the hospital thinking over his aloneness without God. In all my podcasts, I try to apply scripture to real-life experiences. And I expound on what I believe the scripture is trying to convey to us. Airbag Inside Sweden AB, an airbag design company, recently designed a pair of jeans that can protect motorcycle riders from injuries. The special pants look like a regular pair of jeans, but their insides are lined with airbags. In order to work, the pants should be tethered to a motorcycle via a detachable string. If the rider falls from the vehicle, the string will be pulled, triggering the airbags to inflate. The jeans are made of special fibers that make them very sturdy. They are also reusable, as the airbags can be deflated and refilled with gas even after a fall. The jeans were created to reduce instances of serious lower-body injuries among motorcycle riders. Currently, only upper-body protection, such as inflatable vests, is available to motorcyclists. According to US data on road accidents, motorcycle riders are 28 times more likely to die in crashes compared to car passengers. In addition, motorcyclists who survive extreme accidents generally suffer more damage in their lower bodies than in their upper bodies. Injuries to the lower body are less deadly than upper-body injuries, but they tend to have lasting effects. News of the jeans was well-received by motorcycle enthusiasts. One said that lower-body protection for motorcyclists is long overdue and believes that airbag pants can greatly improve motorcycle safety. Another was intrigued by the pants but wanted to know more details before trying them. Currently, Airbag Inside Sweden AB is having the jeans tested so that they can be certified to European health and safety standards. The company hopes to release them commercially in 2022. It has received around $180,000 in funding from the European Union, which it will use to further develop the product.

IN THE WORDS OF GREGORY WIDMAR My vision is to inspire riders to wear full gear, take courses, and practice in order to reduce crashes on public roads. I'm accomplishing this vision by sharing the insights I've acquired as a Total Control Instructor, attending 22 motorcycle courses, and riding over 200,000 miles since 2013. I spent 11 years in the Marines before becoming a Total Control Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Riding Clinic Instructor. I have a BA in Psychology, MA in Human Behavior, and a MS in Forensic Science. I’ve created over 200 motorcycle videos available on YouTube where you can find information on cornering, managing your fear, advice for new riders, low-speed control, and much more! GREGORY'S BIO After 11 years in the Marines with 2 deployments in Iraq and becoming an instructor of drill instructors, Greg left the military to chart a new course in his life. What followed was the pursuit of his enjoyment of motorcycle riding, combined with his passion for teaching. He became an MSF RiderCoach & a Total Control Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Riding Clinic Instructor, and personally attended 21 different motorcycle courses. While teaching, one of the questions he heard the most from students was "what should I practice in-between courses?" With that, Greg conceived the MotoJitsu system, inspired by martial arts, and designed to help street riders become more proficient and confident in their daily riding. After suffering his own serious accident early in his riding career, Greg is a passionate advocate for riders to wear full gear, take advanced courses, and to practice skills that could help save their lives on public roads. Practicing what he preaches, Greg meets with fellow riders in quiet parking lots every week, spending hours helping his friends master skills, and also furthering his own. Greg has created hundreds of educational motorcycle videos, available on his YouTube channel, and has over 95,000 subscribers. Find videos and more at motojitsu.com. https://www.motojitsu.com/

Gregory Ormson is a yoga teacher, writer, and a motorcycle enthusiast! On this unique episode of the podcast, Gregory and I chat about his story becoming a yoga teacher and what inspired him to create his signature program: Yoga & Leather. Yoga & Leather is a unique offering based out of a Harley Davidson store in Arizona where Gregory teaches yoga to motorcycle riders. Gregory shares the links between riding motorcycles and yoga, including balance, mobility, and feeling relaxed while riding a bike that weighs so much more than you. Gregory teaches at the Harley Davidson shop because this is a place where motorcycle riders feel comfortable. He does his best to make them feel comfortable in the setting, by allowing them to show up as they are. Gregory also teaches classes that are geared towards the muscles that are tighter from riding motorcycles and are geared towards people who don't normally practice yoga. On this episode, Gregory and I discuss how to find a niche that you resonate with and how to pitch, market, and teach speciality classes to a very niche audience. Enjoy! July Behl - Madagascar Adventure July Behl, was one of the six finalists for the United People of Adventure project organized by Touratech, with their initiative being to unite riders from different continents, cultures and speaking different languages, through their love of adventure motorcycling and travel. July found riding in Madagascar incredibly exciting, experiencing "gnarly roads to deep sand, broken bridges to unforgiving ruts, extreme heat to torrential rain, mad foreigners to slightly confused locals". He connected with his fellow riders saying "the people, everyone and I mean everyone was just brilliant - helpful, kind, considerate and always there for each other". It's a trip he won't ever forget, and would do again in a heartbeat.
