If you ever wanted to be a fly on the wall listening to two great minds discuss dogs and Pit Bulls in particular, then you are in luck. My guest, Diane Jessup, is an author and a legend and author in the world of pit bulls and titling dogs. Her dog Dread had the most titles of any dog of any breed. She competed in many dog sports when not doing her day job as an animal control officer. Diane's shares opinions about pit bulls, sound temperament, safe dog rescue practices, and how her dog Dread acted in a scene with a child movie star. Here is some background info about Diane Jessup taken from her book The Working Pit Bull and her website that lists her Cairn terriers and Dobermans she meticulously breeds, DanBar Ranch.com. Diane worked for 20 years in animal control ,which itself is an amazing accomplishment. But she also was the director of the Canine Aggression Outreach center where she did consulting services for animal control and public services on canine human interaction. Diane and her pit bulldogs traveled to give seminars on dog behavior and law enforcement. Diane competed extensively with her pit bulls and her banddog Dread had the record for holding the most titles in the most sports of any dog of any breed. Diane competed in shutzhund, weight pull, tracking obedience, conformation, and guard work, and herding with Dread and her other dogs. This is all while using positive marking methods for training her dogs. She has written three books, The Working Pit Bull, Colbys Book of the American Pit Bull Terrier, and The Dog Who Spoke with Gods. Her dogs have been in five films and many other media and she has been featured in many TV shows including Oprah and CNN. She is currently retired from official work, but breeds and cares for Dobermans and Cairn Terriers. We are so honored she is joining us today to share her love and knowledge of pit bulsl and other things dog.

Personal anecdote last night I was involved in a scuffle where a guest in our condo building got belligerent and unruly. He'd had a long day of drinking and was wandering the building and making some residents anxious and nervous. Some neighbors and I tried corralling him to guide him back to whatever unit he was staying in, and the guy got physical. My 8:45pm call to 911 likely caught it all on audio recording before Atlanta PD end the call. No one from the department arrived until 12:15am. Atlanta doesn't need "Cop City" as much as Atlanta needs more COPS in the city. What my neighbors and I dealt with last night wasn't deadly - but what if it could have become deadly? I went to bed having given up on my city's police department to show up two hours after waiting and one hour before they arrived. Atlantans deserve better. Okay, enough about that; Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger's ⁠roaming the state testing counties' voting machines and tabulation processes⁠. Then, get this: former Fulton County Elections supervisor Cathy Woodard - frequent pundit on local TV's "The Georgia Gang" - recorded her appearance for that show Friday morning, then filed an ethics complaint against the "MAGA-3" not he Georgia Elections Board. Legislative Democrats followed with their own call for action over the weekend, as well. Woolard's action is particularly delicious in that Governor Brian Kemp is mandated to do something - and that something will anger Donald Trump. Competing economic messages have been unleashed by the two major Presidential candidates; one a rambling off-prompter tirade of incoherence by a buffoon in front of tables of grocery items, the other a pointed list of actions the American people need relief on: grocery prices, more and attainable housing and tax breaks for families raising kids. Seems an easy choice to make.

I have known Michael Weiss for quite some time through his day job with UCF Incubator as a manager over two incubator sites.  What I didn't know is that he is an entrepreneur, graduated with hospitality as his field of study, and that he has quite a bit of knowledge and experience in the sports industry.  When I asked him what his five words are that defined him, he shared that he likes to have fun. One of the short stories he shared was about a new minor league basketball team that he had a job with. He had the opportunity to come up with slogans and his idea was selected. The team was the Pitbulls, and the slogan that was a “slam dunk” (pun intended) was "Meet the Pitbulls unleashed".   Michael is interesting because he works every day with startup founders and is a wealth of knowledge and demonstrates his desire to help others achieve greatness.  His startup is Room Rite and he decided to launch when he identified a problem when planning a family reunion. He noticed there were very few hotels that offered affordable room rates. The hotels were overpriced and had little inventory.  Michael wondered how often hotels have rooms that are not picked up during conferences.  Taking you to the end of this first chapter of his startup journey.
