Julie and Jason are talking about goals and goal setting. While neither of them is a self-described goal setter, they both acknowledge that taking a goal-oriented approach can be a helpful tool for professional development. Using the SMART(ER) model as a reference point, they talk through different ways professionals in the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform space can set goals for their own professional development. They note examples of various people in the Microsoft community who have modelled great goal-setting behaviors for the rest of us, and they identify tools and programs that listeners can look at for further guidance and inspiration. Sam Apple joins us to discuss his fascinating book 'Ravenous: Otto Warburg, the Nazis, and the Search for the Cancer-Diet Connection'. We discuss the connection between diet and cancer, and the Warburg Effect, which states that cancer cells thrive on dietary glucose, and why Sam thinks it's not entirely accurate because it ignores the role of insulin resistance. We also discuss Hitler's fascination with cancer research, which allowed Warburg to survive the Nazi era even though he was Jewish and gay, and Hitler's infamous addiction to sugar. We further discuss why this enormously important work has been ignored in modern science, why alternative genetic hypotheses are woefully inadequate, whether modern medicine can be reformed to focus on dietary causes of disease, and, of course, how bitcoin fixes this!References (All links are available on saifedean.com/podcast/150-the-cancer-diet-connection-with-sam-apple)Sam Apple's official website.Buy Sam's book on Amazon, The Book Shop and Norton.Chris PalmerEcontalk with Gary TaubesThe Nazi War on Cancer by Robert N. Bitcoin Magazine market analyst Dylan Leclair joins us for an in-depth discussion of the many ponzi schemes and failed financial institutions of our times, and how he identified the problems with them in his prescient writings. Dylan discusses the many red flags and structural problems with Luna/UST, Three Arrows Capital, Celsius, Blockfi, FTX, and Genesis, and why so many people refuse to see the warning signs and seem to want to fall victim for anything that offers them the holy grail of “yield.” We conclude with Dylan's view on the bond market, why he successfully predicted the recent crash in bonds, what his expectations are for the fiat market moving forward, and what the lessons of crypto ponzis have to teach us about fiat and its ponzis.References (All links available on saifedean.com/podcast/145-ponzi-hunting-with-dylan-leclair)Speculative Attack – Pierre RochardThe Myth of National Defense – Hans Herman HoppeDebate with MashinskySaifedean's thread on why withdraw bitcoin from exchanges Only the stronger survive – Allen Farrington Dylan's Thread on GBTC and GrayscaleDylan's Thread on Genesis Dylan's thread on Alameda Pitch Deck Luke Gromen Twitter accountSaifedean's first book, The Bitcoin Standard.Saifedean's second book, The Fiat Standard.Enjoyed this episode? Princeton Professor Emeritus in Physics, William Happer, joins us to discuss the impact of CO2 on the Earth's climate and the state of modern science. What is the scientific evidence on the relationship between CO2 and Earth's climate? Does CO2 drive the Earth's temperature, or does temperature drive CO2? What does the fossil record tell us about the state of the world's climate in the past? Is current warming unprecedented? Why don't scientists study the evidence of prehistoric forests in the Arctic, and what it implies for historical temperatures? Why is there little focus on the enormous benefits of CO2? What is the evidence for CO2 driving ocean acidification? How much better are scientists today from the scientists involved in the Salem witch hunt? There is so much we don't know. But, we do know that answers come. Joseph found answers to his questions about his brother Alvin, and his answer was incredible. What answers have you been waiting on? In this meditation, we get our minds and spirits in the right place so that we can find the answers we are seeking. Music provided by Addison Kirk. REFERENCES: “All who have died without a knowledge of this gospel, who would have received it if they had been permitted to tarry, shall be heirs of the celestial kingdom of God” (D&C 137:7). “Sometimes revelation comes even though we do not seek it. But more often, it comes because we diligently search and prepare” (Come Follow Me for Individuals and Families, pg. 207). “Reflecting upon the great atoning sacrifice that was made by the Son of God” (D&C 138:2) “[Your] eyes [will be] opened, and [your] understanding quickened” (D&C 138:29).

In this discussion from our Stewards of Gondor recordings, we talk about Nimloth, the White Tree of Gondor. We also talk about Elrond solving everyone’s problem by just kicking Isildur into a volcano and the Netflix Shannara series. 00:30 What’s the deal with the tree? 00:58 It’s name is Nimloth 1:08 Descendent and look alike of Telperion 1:20 The trees of Valinor 1:30 You were right, Erica, the lamps were first! 1:50 The silver tree is Telperion. 2:00 The trees were killed by Morgoth and Ungoliant 2:20 Who are Morgoth and Ungoliant again? 2:40 Ugh. Spiders. 3:00 The tree in Numenor 3:15 Tar Palantir’s prophecy. 3:30 Sauron was in Númenor and wanted the tree destroyed. 3:57 Isildur stole a fruit from the tree/Herculean labor 4:30 Derpules - get a photo of Derpules 4:47 Nerd alerts all around! 4:57 Isildur brought the fruit to Middle Earth (the continent) 5:50 Isildur doesn’t mess up all the things he does… 6:00 At least he’s not an idiot like Eänur! 6:09 But… he had a chance to destroy the ring and he didn’t. 6:14 Elrond didn’t Sparta-kick him in like he could have. 6:23 Beowulf - Killing one’s kin is one of the worst crimes imaginable. Unfortunately, Erica was wrong here. Elrond wasn’t really related to Isildur, but they were definitely buddies. 6:47HISHE, LOTR pt 2: Elrond Sparta-kicking Isildur into Mount Doom. 7:07 Elrond’s dad was an amazing fighter 7:10? (oops, Erica said badass). 7:07 Elrond was the standard bearer for Gil-Galad. 7:43 The tree in Gondor was tended in the courtyard. One died and was buried in the tombs of the kings. They didn’t want to burn it after the last time… The one in LOTR is the second one. 8:26 Buried another fruit 8:37 Aragorn and Gandalf find it in the mountains. 9:00 It’s a new tree when Aragorn takes the throne. 9:08 In the movie, it’s different. The tree comes back to life. 9:42 Shannara - Ellcrys - Netflix series. 11:58 Magic has a price. 13:40 Back to the topic… 13:45 Tree that Galadriel gave Sam was a mallorn tree. There were mallorns in Númenor, but they aren’t the same. 14:15 Was Sam’s seed from the golden tree? No. It was a mallorn, which is different. It’s the only one West of the Misty Mountains and East of the Sea. 14:38 Sam is Sam 15:12 In the book, Sam gets an important box of dirt. There’s no scouring of the Shire, so they didn’t have to put it in. References: All music is by the amazing Doctor Turtle! Feel free to show him some love over on Bandcamp.
