In this engaging and insightful podcast episode, Mercury, the charismatic frontman of the renowned rock band Priest, delves into the intricacies of their latest tour, which has been a resounding success. He shares the stage with Julian K and September Mourning, two acts that have contributed to the electrifying atmosphere of the performances. Mercury speaks with enthusiasm about the seamless nature of their collaboration, which has been a key factor in the tour's triumph, leading to numerous sold-out shows and an overwhelming response from fans.As the conversation unfolds, Mercury draws a vivid comparison between touring in the expansive United States and their native Sweden. He points out the stark contrast in the distances they have to travel between venues in the US, which can be vast and challenging, as opposed to the more compact geography of Sweden. Moreover, he touches upon the unique energy of American audiences, which differs from the Swedish crowds, adding a distinctive flavor to each performance.Adding a personal touch to the discussion, Mercury fondly recalls a potential return to the Emerald Isle, specifically mentioning a cherished pub in the heart of Dublin. This anecdote serves as a testament to the band's connection with their fans and the memorable experiences they have while on tour. However, not all aspects of Priest's musical journey have been smooth sailing. Mercury candidly addresses the struggles they've faced with the band Ghost and it's leader Tobias Forge. He explains how they have lost record deal and radio play opportunities in their native Sweden. Despite these challenges, Mercury expresses a firm resolve to continue creating and sharing their art, emphasizing the importance of authenticity and the band's dedication to their unique sound and vision. The episode then shifts gears to the much-anticipated fourth studio album from Priest, titled "Dark Pulse." Mercury provides a deep dive into the thematic elements of the album, which promises to be an exploration of darker, more introspective themes, yet maintaining a danceable and humanistic approach. He credits his time spent in the vibrant city of Berlin as a significant influence on the album's direction, as well as drawing from his own personal experiences to infuse authenticity into the music.Reflecting on the creative process behind "Dark Pulse," Mercury reveals that the album's genesis began with a collection of unused tracks from their previous project. These initial ideas underwent a transformation once the evocative title "Dark Pulse" was conceived, providing a thematic compass that steered the band towards the completion of this ambitious and exciting new project. Despite the external pressures and the shadow of legal battles, Mercury assures fans that Priest's music will continue to shine through, undimmed and true to the vision they have always pursued.Find Priest here: https://priestnexus.com/Find CTMU hereLinktreeNewsletter: https://concertsthatmadeus.aweb.page/p/f065707b-2e34-4268-8e73-94f12bd2e938Save 10% on Band Builder Academy membership by following this link https://bandbuilderacademy.com/Brian_Concerts/join and using promo code "concerts" at signup Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/concerts-that-made-us. This time around on the show that talks about you on purpose, we're picking up the holiday slack by reading a bunch of listener feedback from our Christmas-themed episodes. Think of it as a Christmas in July kind of thing. That's festive and timely, after all. We discuss the classic film It's A Wonderful Life, our favorite adaptations of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, stuff that didn't make the final cut of our KTRP Christmas special, the music of an obscure nu-metal outfit called September Mourning, the films of late director Stuart Gordon, a brief interlude with the iconic Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, and for some inexplicable reason, the hit pop country song "Islands In The Stream" from Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. There's a bunch of other stuff in there, too. The episode's over an hour long, after all. But we'll leave a few surprises in there for you to discover on your own. You're welcome. Join the conversation! Click here to visit the official TRAPPO blog and leave some comments! Leave seventeen comments on any post that catches your fancy. Just tell us some stuff. Leave a name when you comment, however. Please. Don't just stay anonymous. You don't have to use your real name. Just type a string of random letters and numbers if you'd like. We don't care. Just please, for the love of all things sacred, don't assault us with another deluge of "anonymous" comments. You're better than that, dear listener. So just click here and share your feedback, and we may address it on a future episode. We'll probably address it on a future episode of the show. You could also send us an email, because we have a dedicated email address. It's trapposhow@gmail.com, and it's waiting for you to use and abuse. Fill our inbox with delicious emails. If we depended on consuming emails to survive, we'd have starved to death a long time ago. Luckily we don't live in a topsy-turvy world like that, but we'd still love to read your long-form thoughts in a much appreciated email. Either way, we'll be okay. But we'd be a little more okay if you sent us an email. Tell us whatever you feel like, even if it's not pop culture-related. Share some precious family recipes. We love that stuff. Emily Lazar is a creative force who has achieved success in various artistic outlets. She is a multi- disciplinary artist fronting the rock band September Mourning which is based on a comic book series that she created and is published through Image/ Top Cow Comics. She designed the costuming and fashion of the world which she brings to life on stage… and has also recently extended the storyline through music/ animation/ art/ storytelling NFT's she released which are now sold out on Open Sea. She made history as being the first female metal/ rock musician to mint and sell an NFT online. The music tells an epic tale of “heartbreak, loss, pain, joy, love, redemption, but most of all, courage…” while the comic books chronicle the first two chapters of her story. September Mourning revives the concept of rock star meets superhero. If Marilyn Manson and X-Men's Storm had a kid, it would be September Mourning, who also cites influences as varied as Rob Zombie, Disturbed, and Muse. “For me, the project is a story, a theatrical art piece,” Lazar explains. “Music is the backbone, but for this to work, it has to include the imagery and the narrative all symbiotically linked into the live performance, videos, art, nft's etc. Music taps into your innermost being. There's something very intimate and personal about it.” The character of September Mourning is a human-reaper hybrid, who feels the need to give some human souls a second chance, and thus starts an epic battle between the living and the dead. To expound on this narrative, Lazar created, wrote and published the graphic novel (four books in one) entitled “September Mourning: The Complete Collection” through Image/ Top Cow Comics in partnership with iconic comic book artist Marc Silvestri, who is working on Batman comics and is owner of Top Cow Productions (Witchblade, The Darkness). and partner in Image Comics.Together, they pulled together the story of September Mourning in graphic form, to accompany, and enhance the musical message. Having performed at large festivals like Rock on the Range and Download Festival and shared the stage with acts like Rob Zombie, Slipknot and Five Finger Death Punch among others, September Mourning has already built up an impressive fan base, which she calls her “Children of Fate,” constantly encouraging them to have “the courage to embrace their passion… to allow yourself to follow your heart and not be a slave to your fears. To know that the only boundaries that exist in our lives are the ones we allow.” Lazar's creative talents extend into visual art/ modeling, as well. She has been the face of many alternative fashion companies' campaigns over the years such as Manic Panic NYC, Draven Shoes, Leg Avenue and the Japanese line Komachi Dark Lolita to name a few.... often styling the campaigns herself. J-Bunny sits down at Dark Side of the Con with Emily Lazar of September Mourning (and Rich Juzwick occasionally chimes in from the background). They discuss Emily's early days as a pop artist before making the transition to rock music, why it was important to get Rich in the band after he left Gemini Syndrome, how September Mourning is more of a multimedia project than just a band and how that impacts the songwriting. They also discuss the band's relationship with Sahaj Ticotin of the band Ra, how crowds at cons like Dark Side of the Con differ from those at a regular concert, and the band's substantial amount of touring planned for the year. Emily also gives the first explanation of NFTs that has ever made any sense. Podcast intro "Rock Intro 3" courtesy of audionautix.com. "Dirty" and "Mausoleum" are standalone singles by September Mourning. Both songs were included with the permission of Rich Juzwick.

He fills me in on their latest single, upcoming album/tour, the record label and lots more. Finally, around the 35 minute mark, I'm joined my Marty McCoy of the Lonely Ones. September Mourning is a heavy metal band, which incorporates a transmedia dark culture project created by Emily Lazar and Marc Silvestri. The band was formed by frontwoman, vocalist, and screamer, Emily Lazar in New York in 2009. The concept narrative created by Lazar and incorporated in the band and their performances, centers around the fictional story of a human-grim reaper hybrid named September, as she navigates the worlds of the living and the dead. The character's human-side possesses the empathy to give some human souls a second chance. The story is presented on different media platforms, including music, comic books, and live concerts. The comic books are published by Top Cow Productions Image Comics. The storyline of September Mourning was first created by Lazar. Marc Silvestri of Top Cow Productions became involved after Lazar pitched the idea to him via Myspace. Together, they developed the world and storyline of September Mourning. Lazar described the project: "It's a storyline that has a musical component to it. An artistic component to it. The storyline is what holds it all together. The music is like the icing on the cake. It's very important of course, but it's the vehicle to tell the story." J-bunny sits down on Skype (while drinking beer from Ghost Hawk Brewing Co, of course) and talks to Rich Juzwick, founder and former guitarist for the band Gemini Syndrome, and current guitarist for September Mourning. We go very in-depth and discuss the formation of Gemini Syndrome, the inspiration behind the band's symbology, why Rich ultimately left the band, and why he did not make any statements about his departure for nearly a year. We then discuss how he came to join September Mourning, how being more of a multimedia project than just a band provides unique opportunities, and how his approach to writing differs in each band. Rich also talks about posting things from his video archive on his YouTube channel, and how he is adjusting to the forced time off due to coronavirus. Podcast intro "Rock Intro 3" courtesy of audionautix.com. "Overdose" and "Madness" both appear on September Mourning's EP Volume III. Both songs were included with the permission of Rich Juzwick.

Reign of Z is a rock outfit from western Pennsylvania. Following the release of their single Dysmorphia, Reign of Z launched a crowd-funding campaign for their debut EP, Mirrors and Memoirs with Steve Sopchak (Ice Nine Kills). The Indiegogo was a massive success, raising 125% of their target goal of $5,000. Mirrors and Memoirs is a chronicle of front-woman Zosia West's life. No filler, no embellishments; what you hear are doorways to walk in her world. While young, Reign of Z has made massive accomplishments in its short inception, from playing the final cross-country Vans Warped Tour (Shira girl stage) to taking their act to the Whiskey A Go-Go in Los Angeles and sharing the stage with Blameshift, Flaw and September Mourning in between. I had the pleasure to talk to Emily Lazar of September Mourning, this morning.
Emily Lazar of the band and art project September Mourning is this week’s guest on Fresh is the Word. Lazar, who goes by September in the whole September Mourning universe, created a project that cultivates the joys and struggles of everyday life and results in a sense of upliftment even through some of its dark and murky images. Recently, the first volume of the September Mourning comic book hit shelves through Top Cow Productions/Image Comics along with the new ballet-inspired September Mourning video “Till You See Heaven” from their 2016 album Volume II. DJ Ryan March talks with September of September Mourning. Described as a "transmedia project," September Mourning is more than just a band. September discusses her vision of putting theater, dance, and even comic books into the musical project. Fresh off Columbus's Rock on The Range, they talk about growing up in a musically diverse family, and even the influence of ancient Japanese culture. Learn about the dangerous battle between September and Fate, and keep an eye out for the album release this fall! Connect with the project at http://www.septembermourning.com/
