Got some feedback? Drop us a message! We sat down for a 1-2-1 solocast this week to discuss our views on managing external feedback and body image both in season and off season. This is a topic that has been raised by our listeners time and time again and we wanted to take the opportunity to discuss the things we have encountered, learned and implemented when it comes to receiving negative or discerning feedback and acknowledge how these scenarios might impact you as a person, an athlete and how you view your body and yourself.I'm this episode we discuss:- Body image both in a prep setting and off season and how that can impact you as an athlete and a person in day to day life;- Managing body image in normal settings;- Sexualisation and managing feedback around physique development;- Managing external feedback in relation to diet choices in different settings;- Having compassion and an understanding that what we do isn't “normal”;- Socially imposed expectations of the female body and what challenges that can impose when it comes to physique development;- Centring your communication from a place of passion rather than defence when it comes to being challenged about your decision to compete; And so much more.We really exposed much of our experiences in this podcast and it's a topic that has shaped both of our journeys when it comes to competing and managing day to day life. We truly hope the insight and advice will help you navigate your own exposure to similar situations and limit the impact of any negativity whether that be from an internal or external source.Make sure you keep up with us on social media for previews and details about upcoming guest speakers.Instagram: @thebackstagebikinipodcastHosts: @gracemannion_ | @jadeleahegartyAvailable on Spotify, Apple Podcast, Youtube and Amazon Music.

Has your kid seen porn? Research says 1 in 3 kids have seen explicit, hardcore porn by the age of 12, many by accident.Whether or not your tween or teen has seen it the fact that hardcore porn is widely available, free, and easily accessed from any device with an internet connection will be having an impact on the whole culture they are growing up in.We want our teens to feel that it's normal and natural to be interested in sex, and want to explore what's out there, but talking about it the modern issues can be a minefield. Whilst we're openly trying to teach our kids about consent, and educate our boys to be respectful of women, what they might be accessing online is the opposite. Much of it is degrading, and objectifying, and normalises potentially dangerous and harmful sexual behaviour.A lot of parents I have spoken with don't know how to have those conversations, so I contacted Dr Mandy Sanchez, from Culture Reframed, an organisation that provides free education resources and worksheets for parents. In this episode she talks about how, and when, to talk about porn with your kid.www.culturereframed.orgwww.teenagersuntangled.comThanks for listening. As well as sexualisation, he's currently engaged in research about language change, the metaphysics of touch, conscientious objection in medicine, and the value of consensual sexual activity. In this conversation, we discuss sexualisation. Unwanted sexualisation is at the very least an inappropriate behaviour. At worst it can be an illegitimate exercise of power which involves harassing, bullying, or terrorising another person. In this episode, Hannah is joined by Lolo Cynthia, a gender and sexuality activist and educator from Nigeria. Lolo discusses her own experiences of sexualization and grooming as a curvy woman with big breasts, the harmful stigma and myths in Nigeria around girls' bodies and sexuality and how that makes them more at risk to predatory behaviour. Lolo shares how she is working to empower young people and girls especially to reconnect with their bodies, trust their intuition and let this guide how they engage with sex. Hannah and Lolo chat about how interconnected alcohol and dating are and why Lolo feels bringing alcohol into dating prevents you from understanding how connected you actually feel to someone. Lolo also shares anecdotes about the different kinds of questions girls versus boys ask in her sex education classes, why she's not allowed to include LGBTQ+ themes in sex education but how she finds loop holes to teach students about understanding and accepting themselves. Finally, Lolo discusses how to talk about sexual pleasure that is more inclusive of people with vaginas who have been circumcised and how those in the sex positive world can be better allies to people who have experienced FGM.CW: grooming, sexual assault, and female genital mutilation✨MORE ABOUT LOLO CYNTHIA ✨Lolo started her own social enterprise, LoloTalks, to increase comprehensive sexuality education across Nigeria, with a special focus on people in underserved communities such as brothels and prisons. She created a sexuality toolkit – MyBodyIsMine- to use in schools and uses her various platforms to speak about the importance of sex education. Lolo's interest in sexual and reproductive health and rights was deepened when she moved to South Africa and saw how issues around sexuality, including access to legal and safe abortion, were treated differently than in her home country. Lolo strives to educate young men and women about sexuality, respect, and contraceptives. As a natural leader, with a passion to drive positive change, she joined Niyel - an impact-driven campaign agency to create campaigns that lead to positive change in Africa and beyond- Twitter: https://twitter.com/Lolo_cy- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lolo_cy/?hl=en- YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/LoloTalksInc

This week Jonathan sits down with Melinda Tankard Reist of Collective Shout for a very honest conversation about the widespread sexual dysfunction of our age and its catastrophic consequences for our children. Melinda is a co-founder and movement director of Collective Shout, a grassroots campaigns movement for a world free of sexploitation in all its forms. Melinda is author/editor of six books including Getting Real: Challenging the Sexualisation of Girls (Spinifex Press, 2009) and Big Porn Inc: Exposing the harms of the global pornography industry (Spinifex Press, 2011, co-edited with Dr Abigail Bray). She is an Ambassador for World Vision Australia, Compassion Australia, Hagar NZ and the youth mentoring body the Raise Foundation.
