We are continuing the conversation about how you can build strong bonds with your kids in today's episode of Awkward Conversations with host and Full House and Fuller House star, Jodie Sweetin. Jodie is joined by Amy McCarthy, Sr. Clinical Social Worker at Boston Children's Hospital and Heidi P. Dutson who serves as a prevention administrator at the Utah Department of Human Services. Heidi kicks off the episode by explaining the science behind boundaries and clear standards in parenting and how it prevents future behavioral issues like substance abuse. They also share practical ways that parents can connect with their kids through teaching basic skills, spending quality time together, and establishing family meetings. IN THIS EPISODE: [01:12] What is the Social Development Strategy [08:00] How consequences and boundaries help kids [09:48] Ways to create a strong bond with your kids [16:55] The importance of listening and spending time with your kids KEY TAKEAWAYS: The very first thing kids need is really clear standards on a healthy belief – AKA rules. They need to know very clearly what your family standards are and that they are for their protection and safety. One way to build a strong bond with a child is to find an opportunity to teach them a skill and then reinforce that with appropriate recognition and praise. Get in the habit of spending 10 to 15 minutes a day focusing on your child(ren) and seeing the world through their eyes. Please join us as we sit down with Greg Grunberg a.k.a. snap Wexley An actual member the black squadron joins us to discuss his time in the Star Wars universe.
The "Rise of Skywalker" left even those of us who live and breathe Star Wars with more questions than answers. Our resident expert Stephen Gawrit and Brett Ashley sit down to hash out what showrunners left unanswered. Why leave Snap Wexley's important familial role in the Rebellion and Resistance untouched? Why Retcon most of Rose's story? Why cast a talent like Keri Russell and not even show us her whole face? Who the hell are the Knights of Ren? What was Finn so desperate to tell Rey? And how the heck did Palpatine reemerge? Did Ben/Kylo's story really conclude the way we think it did? And could Cara Dune have been somewhere in that armada? Let's get into it.
The Rise of Skywalker is still fresh in theaters, and the discussion continues of the Star Wars Saga concluding film on another fully armed and operational podcast. On this episode, we discuss: The roles of Rose Tico and Beaumont, Zorii Bliss’s appearance in the movie, The appearance of General Pryde and General Hux’s role, Lando’s introduction and role in The Rise of Skywalker, The fate of Snap Wexley, and The identity of the Jedi that spoke to Rey and what it might imply. On this episode of the show, we bring you a double feature interview: Greg Grunberg and Lucas Turnbloom. Greg has had roles in all the things you love, and Lucas is a crazy-talented cartoonist. Together, they've created the graphic novel Dream Jumper. We chat with both of them about the book, its origin, and how the two of them work together. With Greg, we also chat about Geeking Out, having a Star Wars action figure of himself, the background that Snap Wexley (his Star Wars character) has developed in the comics and novels, how he's the portal through which the J.J. Abrams multiverse connects...and the insanely satisfying role of just being a dad.
The Star Wars fandom received a gift this month in the form of the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer, and we're here with the second episode of Blaster Canon to talk Rogue One and some of the other Star Wars news that came out in the last two weeks.Paul Hermann leads an episode that asks the big questions about Rogue One: Does Gareth Edwards' film "look like Star Wars"? Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso brings a smuggler attitude to the Rebellion - is she more Luke Skywalker or Jack Sparrow? She's one of the few Star Wars heroes of the new era who has a last name - where does she fit in the saga of the Skywalkers? Who are the mysterious Imperial characters? We break down each character in the surprisingly revealing teaser trailer. This week, we also cover the first issue of the Poe Dameron comic book and its place in the new canon: Phil Noto and Charles Soule both bring a lot of experience to the story of Poe's quest to find Lor San Tekka, but did the story start off with a bang or more of a "huh?" Where do the Egg Worshippers fit into the Star Wars canon? We also take a look at the latest excerpt from next book in the Aftermath series, Life Debt, which sends Norra and Snap Wexley on a collision course with Han Solo and promises an adventure on Kashyyyk.Lastly, we take a deep dive into the Star Wars Rebels finale, "Twilight of the Apprentice." Darth Maul and Darth Vader take on the Rebels in an episode set at a Sith temple on Korriban. The episode also develops the relationship between Ezra and Kanan, but perhaps the most talked-about event was conflict between Vader and his former apprentice Ahsoka Tano. We also discussed the tone of the episode and the audience Rebels was intended for - is the show too childish, or does it match the "family-friendly" tone that Star Wars material often aims for? See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
The Force may be imminent on the small screen but we're still going large with with our continuing efforts to bring you guests from The Force Awakens. Snap Wexley himself Greg Grunberg joins us from London Film and Comic Con along with the one and only Billy Dee Williams. The voice of the first ever female First Order Stormtrooper Verona Blue is here, Mark talks 'Do Or Do Not, There Is No Try' with filmumentarian Jamie Benning and discusses the passing of R2-D2 maker Tony Dyson on BBC Radio 4. We spar with Jordan Court from Ludosport, travel with #teamjedinews to the real Takodana at Puzzlewood, talk the return of Indiana Jones and the search for a new Han Solo on a jam-packed 39th episode of RADIO 1138.
David and Casey discuss and review 'Shroud of Darkness' of Star Wars Rebels. They also play an interview with Greg Grunberg, who was Snap Wexley in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Yeah yeah yeah, we are a comic book based podcast but how can we not talk about The Force Awakens!?!? We are back to five bears strong this week as Bill, Justin, Bryan, Steve and Matt discuss what they thought of the new movie. (SPOILER ... they are not all in agreement ... except about Snap Wexley!) Then the CBBears each recount our earliest Star Wars memories. Then, to tie it back into comic books, we recount the history of Star Wars in comics and spotlight some of our favorite SW funnybooks including Dark Empire, Tales of the Jedi, X-Wing Squadron, Darth Vader and the Cry of Shadows, The Star Wars among them right into the current Marvel books. Intro: Bear in Heaven - "Reflections of You" Outro: The Clash - "1977"
Is the Chinese trailer too spoilery to watch? What's the official word on whether Captain Phasma was to have been male? Who is Snap Wexley? Is it true that we may eventually see Star Wars 1313 and/or Star Wars: Underworld? Fill those last few moments before the big release with The ForceCast!
