News of his return to the competition sparked a wave of fan support.8月20日,孙杨在其超200万粉丝的微博超话分享了2024年全国夏季游泳锦标赛的门票销售详情,他重返赛场的消息引发了粉丝们的热情支持。"He's endured so much and still chose to continue - he truly loves the sport," wrote one fan. "Finally, we'll see you back on the field, Sun Yang," another posted. "It's been a long time—enjoy the competition," added another supporter. At 32, Sun became China's first male Olympic swimming champion at the 2012 London Games and went on to collect 3 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze Olympic medals. Between 2009 and 2019, Sun added 11 golds, 2 silvers, and 3 bronzes to his tally at the World Swimming Championships.32岁的孙杨在2012年伦敦奥运会上成为中国首位男子游泳冠军,并获得了3枚金牌、2枚银牌和1枚铜牌。 In February 2020, the Court of Arbitration for Sport handed Sun an 8-year ban for violating World Anti-Doping Agency rules by tampering with a doping sample. Despite the suspension, his previous competition results remained intact.2020年2月,在2月28号国际体育仲裁法庭宣布“世界反兴奋剂机构上诉孙杨和国际永联案”的结果,此次宣判的结果是孙杨被禁赛8年。 Sun immediately appealed the ruling to the Swiss Federal Supreme Court, but his efforts proved unsuccessful. In March 2022, the court upheld the ban, keeping him sidelined until May 2024.However, on May 28 this year, Sun completed his 4-year, 3-month suspension, marking his return to competitive swimming. On the same day, his official swimming studio posted on Weibo, stated, "Transcend yourself, swimmers fear nothing." When I received the final ruling in 2020, I was determined to return in four years - I would not retire," Sun told The Paper. Driven by his deep love for the sport, Sun expressed his desire to continue competing. Though acknowledging he is no longer in his prime, he believes his return is a personal mission, a commitment to himself and his swimming career. Court of Arbitration for Sportn.

Welcome to The Shannon Rollason Podcast, a swimming podcast like no other. The Shannon Rollason Podcast is back in 2023 and on a new home here on the Off The Blocks Swimming Podcast network. This week as we get closer to 2023 World Swimming Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, Shannon and I are joined by swimming statistician and historian David Clark once again, as we look back at the rich history of the World Swimming Championships. In this part two episode, David, Shannon and I have a look back at Montreal 2005 and Australia's continued success there with Grant Hackett winning a 4th consecutive 1500m Free, through to 2022 in Budapest and we also do a quick look ahead to Fukuoka and what is to come in 1 weeks time. From the success of 2007 in Melbourne to the controversy of 2009 in Rome where the super suits overshadowed the years racing. From James Magnussen winning the men's 100m Free in Shanghai 2011 to the emergence of a young Katie Ledecky in 2013 at Barcelona. As well as Bronte Campbells massive meet in 2015 Kazan through to more controversy in 2019 Gwangju with Mack Horton refusing to stand on the podium with Sun Yang following the men's 400m Free. This episode covers it all If you are a lover of swimming and the history of the sport, this is the podcast for you, don't miss part two
We sat down with Dan Wiffen, the Irishman who became the #4 performer in history in the 1,500 freestyle this weekend in Stockholm. He discusses what he was expecting out of himself heading into the meet as well as how he has elevated his training over the past 6 months to reflect his performances. Wiffen is at the point where he's calling out sets to challenge himself (he notes 6x500 on 5:30 best average). Wiffen makes it clear that now, with only 4 more seconds to shave off, he's gunning for Sun Yang's legendary 14:31.02 world record. What does he need to do to drop under 14:31? In his words, "I just need to swim again."
In the latest episode of our podcast On Side, esteemed lawyers Richard Young and Adair Donaldson provide incredible insights into their roles, including on anti-doping and abuse cases. Young, a leader in anti-doping litigation, has worked on the cases against Tour de France winners Lance Armstrong and Floyd Landis, Marion Jones, and the BALCO doping scandal. He also worked on the Essendon supplements case. He says he lost sleep over “all of them” and admits there has been push back as a result of his work. “I'm not real welcome in China because of Sun Yang,” Young admits. “I'm not going back to Russia because of my role in the Russian investigation. After the Essendon case I sure got a lot of letters from Melbourne … I've been back to Melbourne, but I don't think I'd run for political office there.” Adair Donaldson, who specialises in assisting survivors of trauma, says the independence offered by National Integrity Framework gives sports a lot of comfort. “That's really very important,” he says. He admits, however, that the Framework will not always satisfy everybody. “And that's going to be the case no matter what … [it's] a lot better than what we've had in the past, so that to me, is a really good step in the right direction.” Donaldson, who works closely with sporting bodies addressing cultural issues with respect to harassment, abuse, violence, and alcohol-related issues, suspects the reason why athletes are coming forward now is that “they feel confident that they will be listened to. Isn't that good? Because in the past these people have just suffered in silence.” Young admits prosecuting abuse, particularly emotional abuse, is difficult. “That will be one of the issues for Sport Integrity Australia. Is it emotional abuse? Is it motivational coaching? Is it what good coaches do? Or is it emotional abuse? And you know they're egregious examples like coaches beating their athletes, physical abuse, but the emotional abuse gets tough, but you gotta deal with the cases and bring them if you want kids to be safe in sport or you want any athlete to be safe in sport.”See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
A new review paper was published in Aging (listed as "Aging (Albany NY)" by MEDLINE/PubMed and "Aging-US" by Web of Science) Volume 14, Issue 19, entitled, “RNA modifications in aging-associated cardiovascular diseases.” Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide that bears an enormous healthcare burden. Aging is a major contributing factor to CVDs. Functional gene expression network during aging is regulated by mRNAs transcriptionally and by non-coding RNAs epi-transcriptionally. RNA modifications alter the stability and function of both mRNAs and non-coding RNAs and are involved in differentiation, development and diseases. In this new review paper, researchers Xinyu Yang, Priyanka Gokulnath, H. Immo Lehmann, Zhitao Hou, Sun Yang, Liangzhen You, Guoxia Zhang, Yanwei Xing, Ji Lei, Guoping Li, Shuwen Guo, and Hongcai Shang from Fangshan Hospital and Dongzhimen Hospital (affiliated with Beijing University of Chinese Medicine), Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine, and Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences reviewed major chemical RNA modifications on mRNAs and non-coding RNAs, including N6-adenosine methylation, N1-adenosine methylation, 5-methylcytidine, pseudouridylation, 2′ -O-ribose-methylation, and N7-methylguanosine, in the aging process with an emphasis on cardiovascular aging. They also summarize the currently available methods to detect RNA modifications and the bioinformatic tools to study RNA modifications. “More importantly, we discussed the specific implication of the RNA modifications on mRNAs and non-coding RNAs in the pathogenesis of aging-associated CVDs, including atherosclerosis, hypertension, coronary heart diseases, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, peripheral artery disease, venous insufficiency, and stroke.” DOI: https://doi.org/10.18632/aging.204311 Corresponding Authors: Guoping Li; Shuwen Guo; Hongcai Shang - Corresponding Emails: gli21@mgh.harvard.edu; guo1163@163.com; shanghongcai@bucm.edu.cn Keywords: RNA modifications, aging, aging-related cardiovascular diseases, epitranscriptome Sign up for free Altmetric alerts about this article: https://aging.altmetric.com/details/email_updates?id=10.18632%2Faging.204311 About Aging-US Launched in 2009, Aging-US publishes papers of general interest and biological significance in all fields of aging research and age-related diseases, including cancer—and now, with a special focus on COVID-19 vulnerability as an age-dependent syndrome. On the show this week, International Paralympic Committee (IPC) president Andrew Parsons delivered a fiery anti-war message at the Paralympics opening ceremony — but it was censored in China. He also flubbed a line, for which the IPC has apologized, yet China has not even acknowledged its own censorship (1:40). International sporting bodies such as the IOC and FIFA have been awarding events to countries that create headaches. Is this era coming to an end (4:26)? The IPC has historically stood apart from the IOC, often taking a stronger stance on issues (5:10), but one difference at these two Games is that the Paralympics has fewer foreign journalists in the bubble asking the difficult questions (7:15). Was the IPC's decision to send Russian and Belarusian athletes home the right one? A Russian legal appeal could have resulted in a very messy situation (8:08). Do these and other sporting sanctions actually have any impact on Putin and the war (10:45)? The absence of Russian and Belarusian athletes has severely affected the medal standings, to China's great advantage (12:27), so does that impact the legitimacy of the results (14:45)? The weather in the mountains is still treacherous, with one skier blown off course by high winds, sustaining serious injuries and still only just missing out on a medal (15:30). Mark highlights the inspirational comments of Swedish athlete Ebba Aarsjoe (16:15), as well as the heartwarming back story of pro-basketball-player-turned-Paralympic-legend Li Duan, who was the final torchbearer at the opening ceremony (18:12).The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) announced a new title sponsor this week, further evidence that they could be moving on from China. What does that mean for other sports leagues — especially the men's tour, the ATP (20:22)? Guess who won the first tournament under new sponsor Hologic, who specifically referenced the WTA's Peng Shuai stance as a catalyst for their partnership? China's Zhang Shuai — who beat a Ukrainian opponent to win her third WTA title (23:58). Finally, swimmer Sun Yang's second appeal of a doping ban at a court in Switzerland was denied. Could this spell the end of his storied career (25:28)? See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Régóta szerettük volna összefoglalni a 2021-es MLB-szezont, hiszen rengeteg érdekesség történt a tengerentúli baseball-ligában.
