TRACK YOUR TIME: figure out where it goes. Get clear on what Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-goals are important + what can wait + what can be delegated or eradicated completely. Learn to prioritize and put things in order from highest urgency + priority to lowest + learn to eat the frog - a method that was put on the map by Brian Tracy in his book but basically it says to take on the worst, biggest task first thing in the morning. Which I've always tried to do, because otherwise I just wont - and its a game changer. Create a priorities list and get it all on paper so you can start ticking them off and visualizing the progress.Be picky about what you say yes to. Remove anything non-essential. Meetings that can be emails, Try focus strategies = no phone, no distractions, special work space + ritual. Binaural beats or focus music is also a great vibe for work spaces. Attempt mono-tasking but don't be afraid to “batch” like with like. Schedule, allot + delegate appropriate amounts of times for things. This means start AND end times. Limiting work can limit burn out. If you're really flowing - fine, but know when to cut and return. Your flow will return too, if you give it time to breathe. INCLUDING REST: Get enough sleep but not too much. Planning ahead or using time tools like the Pareto/pomodoro/time segmenting can help Set yourself up for success in any way you can. I'm a big fan of the night before optimization moment: if I need to do laundry the next day, I will set everything I need to do it, including dirty laundry, quarters, soap, and dryer balls near the door so it's ready for when I am ready in the morning. Half ass it and keep coming back to it if you're not happy with it til it's to your liking. Half assing it twice is basically a full ass in some cultures. Plus who can afford a full ass right now? In this economy? Seriously - Focus, Take it seriously. Learn to like it. Make a nice space + associate work with work .If can share this with a friend (or enemy) that you think would benefit from it, that would truly be a game changer. Subscribe to the newsletter at www.makeyourdamnbedpodcast.com or visit our patreon for highly exclusive bonus content. Support our sponsors, because they support us (which supports the accessibility of this daily content). Honestly, though, thank you for simply being here. for existing. it really means more than you know. luhh ya.The opinions expressed by Julie Merica and Make Your Damn Bed Podcast are intended for entertainment purposes only. Today we are talking about Time Management tip #3 to help you increase your success, which is to Track Your Time. The best way to manage your time is by tracking it. We often don't realize where our time goes, but by tracking your time, you can see exactly how you're spending it. Even if your time isn't billable, it's a good practice, at least initially, to get an overview of your day and where your time goes, so that you can adjust it accordingly. There are plenty of free apps and tools you can use to track your time, including Toggl or Clockify. You may be able to find areas of your business where you can delegate more to others by tracking your time, so you are focused on doing only what you can do and can't be done by anyone else. For example, if you work on something that consistently takes up the majority of your day, it might be time (pun intended) to let that go and delegate it to someone else who can work on it more efficiently. It's not a bad thing to be able to do so, as you can focus on using your strengths to grow your business! Today we are talking about Time Management Principle #2 to help you Accelerate Your Results, which is to Track Your Time and Then Honestly Evaluate How You Spent It. In order to truly accelerate your time management efforts, you need to have a solid understanding of where you're missing the mark. The only way to do this is to be able to honestly evaluate the time you spend each day. This is where time and task tracking comes into play. You could keep a bullet list on a notepad of everything you do and how long you spend doing it, or you could jot down voice notes on your iPhone. Or you can download my complimentary Time Log Sample and help you be even more time efficient, so you are in a higher probability position to achieve your goals, go to: https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/time-log/. Simple instructions come with the sample document to help you know how to complete the time log. How you chart everything you do is irrelevant – just do what is the easiest for you to do consistently. The important thing here is to write down everything. Including the time spent on social media during your commute, or the time you spent checking emails while on the sidelines of a child's game. Don't leave out things you are not proud of having spent time on. This process is meant to illuminate areas of your day where time is being wasted instead of intentionally spent, and then finding ways to redeem that lost time moving forward. EVR specializes in marketing services for hospitals in the northeast, Senior Living, and businesses residing in or doing business in the state of New Hampshire. Prior to acquiring the agency in 2010, Jeff spent many years in the professional sports industry, including with the Philadelphia Phillies, the Milwaukee Brewers, and the Buffalo Sabres. In this episode of the Progressive Agency podcast, Jeff joins us to share his journey and talk about the importance of the time management process in project management. Running an Agency by the Numbers EVR is an Agency Management Institute (AMI) agency and Jeff has been working with them since purchasing EVR in 2010. He believes that to run a successful agency, you have to surround yourself with people who are smart about the business aspect of advertising. This is where he learned to run his agency using data systems and processes that enable him to keep a finger on the pulse of everything that is happening under the EVR roof. In fact, Jeff and his team have been able to master the time management process in project management to meet the unique needs of their agency and its goals. Track Your Time! The importance of the time management process in project management is paramount to the success of any agency. Even with the right tools and software in place, it took Jeff two years to build a culture around time management and get a collective buy-in from his team. If time and activity is accurately being tracked in an agency, agency owners will have all of the data they need to make sound leadership decisions and grow the business. The more detailed you can get, the better. Jeff and his team break time management into 4 categories: billable hours, non-billable hours, biz dev, and professional development. We're shifting gears this week and talking about parenting! I don't usually cover parenting here on the show, so I invited my good friend Crystal Paine to join me.   Now, you may know her as the Money Saving Mom, but her message goes beyond good deals at the grocery store. And I'm so glad she's with us today to talk about what it's like to be vulnerable, especially when it comes to parenting our children.    We dive into love-centered parenting, mom guilt, and what happens when we let our kids make mistakes. She also talks about her latest book and the hard-won lessons she's taken away from shifting from results-based parenting to a love-centered model of raising her kids.   You're going to want to stay until the end of this episode, friends! Tune in to hear: Crystal's journey with one of her children, who was experiencing depression and suicidal thoughts How our mental, physical and spiritual health affect our parenting styles and choices Practical tips for productive communication with your kids and how to ask for (and accept!) their feedback     Favorite quotes:   1. When we cram truth in and we continue to call out the lie and  replace it with truth, it rewires our brain. Like scripture talks about renewing our mind, it's that rewiring of the way that we've always thought that allows us to renew instead of walking in lies and letting those lies be what we lead with. It allows us to have freedom and to walk in truth, and then to live out of that truth.2. Are the words that you are saying to yourself, about yourself and letting just kind of swirl around in your brain, are those words that you would say to other people?   3. Our kids are paying attention to that life we're living before them. And that's probably going to be the most powerful sermon we are ever going to preach to them.   4. Ultimately, I want to be able to send my kids out as adults, not dependent children. And so if I'm going to do that, I have to let go and not just create all these rules in order to protect them from never getting hurt, never having to make choices and never making mistakes.   5. How we interact with our kids affects how they view God.   In this episode I answer this business question:   Would you rather have in your team a nice fool or a reliable jerk?  (40:01)   Great things we discussed: 1. If you want to truly accelerate your workday efforts and get more done in less time, it will require discipline and humility. nnThe rewards though? They are well worth the sacrifice. In addition to having more mental and physical bandwidth for the people and projects in your life that you truly care about, improving your time management gives you mental space for a renewed passion for your business and increased patience and resilience for the difficult things your workday throws your way.nnWhile there are many different principles that you can focus on that will help move you closer to a more productive schedule, these four time management principles are guaranteed to help accelerate your results and boost your productivity. The catch is that they all require intentionality.nnThese principles will not work unless you do, which is both liberating and limiting. However, if you are ready to find freedom and move beyond being a slave to your business and your to-do list, then roll up your sleeves and get ready to dive in.nn1. Remove Distractions – Even the Good OnesnnPerhaps one of the greatest workplace myths is the one that says we can multitask well. We may be multitasking, but the ball is always getting dropped somewhere. Our brains are only hardwired to be able to handle one thing at one time. We are fooled into thinking we are doing multiple things at once, but really our brains are just swapping back and forth at tremendous speeds. nnAdding more to the already spinning plate just makes it more difficult to gracefully switch to something different when the time comes. Not only that, but it actually takes longer to complete tasks this way. When was the last time you found enjoyment and success while trying to simultaneously eat a waffle and go for a jog? The answer is never – you would never try to overlap those two tasks because of the sheer impracticality of it all. Multitasking in business may appear to be more practical, but don't be fooled. Dialing in your focus on one thing at a time whenever possible is a truly simple way to see amazing time management and productivity results. nn2. Track Your Time and Then Honestly Evaluate How You Spent ItnnIn order to truly accelerate your time management efforts, you need to have a solid understanding of where you're missing the mark. Simple instructions come with the sample document to help you know how to complete the time log for yourself and everyone on your team.nnHow you chart everything you do is irrelevant – just do what is the easiest for you to do consistently. The important thing here is to write down everything. Including the time spent on social media during your commute, or the time you spent checking emails while on the sidelines of a child's game. Today we are talking about 4 Time Management Principles Guaranteed to Help You Accelerate Your Results. Time management is not just a buzzword that you can throw around but never dig into. It’s also not something you try on for a week or two and become instantly successful at. If you want to truly accelerate your workday efforts and get more done in less time, it will require discipline and humility. The rewards though? They are well worth the sacrifice. In addition to having more mental and physical bandwidth for the people and projects in your life that you truly care about, improving your time management gives you mental space for a renewed passion for your business and increased patience and resilience for the difficult things your workday throws your way. While there are many different principles that you can focus on that will help move you closer to a more productive schedule, these four time management principles are guaranteed to help accelerate your results and boost your productivity. The catch is that they all require intentionality. These principles will not work unless you do, which is both liberating and limiting. However, if you are ready to find freedom and move beyond being a slave to your business and your to-do list, then roll up your sleeves and get ready to dive in. 1. Remove Distractions – Even the Good Ones Perhaps one of the greatest workplace myths is the one that says we can multitask well. Dialing in your focus on one thing at a time whenever possible is a truly simple way to see amazing time management and productivity results. 2. Track Your Time and Then Honestly Evaluate How You Spent It In order to truly accelerate your time management efforts, you need to have a solid understanding of where you’re missing the mark. The only way to do this is to be able to honestly evaluate the time you spend each day. This is where time and task tracking comes into play. Including the time spent on social media during your commute, or the time you spent checking emails while on the sidelines of a child’s game. Don’t leave out things you are not proud of having spent time on. This process is meant to illuminate areas of your day where time is being wasted instead of intentionally spent, and then finding ways to redeem that lost time moving forward. 3. Find Accountability Partners One of the biggest enemies of progress is our own subconscious self. We are excellent self-saboteurs and are able to talk ourselves out of or into things that we would never allow for someone else. The best way to silence your inner critic and set yourself up for long-term time management success is to allow a few people into your life as accountability partners. High-powered execs, small business owners, and even individuals alike are flocking to accountability coaches in droves, and one of the main reasons for this is the ability of an outside figure to help you break through mental barriers. They see your life from a different perspective, and are able to challenge you in ways you could never challenge yourself. 4. Don’t Confuse Busy Work with Truly Important, Dial-Moving Work. We’ve all been there: caught up being busy only to get to the end of the day and feel the crushing guilt that comes with not having accomplished anything of real value. Whether it is office chit-chat or a meeting that goes on way too long, there are pockets of time in every one of our days that are no doubt spent being busy instead of actually being productive. How can we avoid this? The first step is to honestly evaluate where your greatest value and benefit lies. What can you do that someone else cannot? Once you start identifying the areas in your business where your skills truly shine, you can begin to move away from those areas that don’t require your best self to show up. At the end of the day, we all want the work we do to be meaningful and important. We want to go home feeling like what we did mattered and moved the needle forward. Do what only you can do and delegate everything else, even if you don’t mind doing it. Download a Free Delegation List Sample to help you identify more activities to delegate, by going to https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/delegation-list-sample/. Delegation helps give you more capacity and bandwidth to do what you need to do that nobody else can do. Remember: Progress Equals Freedom One of the thought leaders in time management and habit formation, Brendon Burchard, says, “Everybody hates talking about time management…there’s no such thing as true work-life balance. But if you’re not making progress in your life, you’re not happy. And worse, without time management you’ll never find freedom. You want more freedom and free time? Then get more focused and productive in managing the things you have to.” If you are getting value from any of Podcasts, please take a minute to leave me a short rating and review. Today we are talking about 4 Time Management Principles Guaranteed to Help You Accelerate Your Results. Time management is not just a buzzword that you can throw around but never dig into. It's also not something you try on for a week or two and become instantly successful at. 4 Time Management Principles to Accelerate Your Results

The Business Accelerator: Accountability | Productivity

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 2, 2021 8:57

Today we are talking about 4 Time Management Principles Guaranteed to Help You Accelerate Your Results. Time management is not just a buzzword that you can throw around but never dig into. It's also not something you try on for a week or two and become instantly successful at. We may be multitasking, but the ball is always getting dropped somewhere. Our brains are only hardwired to be able to handle one thing at one time. We are fooled into thinking we are doing multiple things at once, but really our brains are just swapping back and forth at tremendous speeds. Adding more to the already spinning plate just makes it more difficult to gracefully switch to something different when the time comes. 2. Track Your Time and Then Honestly Evaluate How You Spent It In order to truly accelerate your time management efforts, you need to have a solid understanding of where you're missing the mark. Simple instructions come with the sample document to help you know how to complete the time log for yourself and everyone on your team. 4. Don't Confuse Busy Work with Truly Important, Dial-Moving Work. We've all been there: caught up being busy only to get to the end of the day and feel the crushing guilt that comes with not having accomplished anything of real value. Once you start identifying the areas in your business where your skills truly shine, you can begin to move away from those areas that don't require your best self to show up. At the end of the day, we all want the work we do to be meaningful and important. We want to go home feeling like what we did mattered and moved the needle forward. Do what only you can do and delegate everything else, even if you don't mind doing it. Download a Free Delegation List Sample to help you identify more activities to delegate, by going to https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/delegation-list-sample/. Delegation helps give you more capacity and bandwidth to do what you need to do that nobody else can do. Remember: Progress Equals Freedom One of the thought leaders in time management and habit formation, Brendon Burchard, says, “Everybody hates talking about time management…there's no such thing as true work-life balance. But if you're not making progress in your life, you're not happy. And worse, without time management you'll never find freedom. You want more freedom and free time? Then get more focused and productive in managing the things you have to.” If you are getting value from any of Podcasts, please take a minute to leave me a short rating and review. The first time I tracked my time was back in 2014 I think. I just finished reading 168 Hours by Laura Vanderkam (In case you didn't know, that's how many hours there are in a week.). At the time, I was juggling a growing photography business, and I was married to a youth pastor and training for a half marathon. To be honest, my life felt out-of-control busy. I would stay up late every single night working, and I did that a lot back then. I never felt close to being caught up. It just felt like my work life was taking over. So, I decided to track my time for a week, and I learned that I worked about 32 hours that week when I've been saying I've worked 60 hours. I was really enlarging and just exaggerating my work so much in my head, but it wasn't reality. Fast forward to today, and I still think back to this exercise. I know not to conflate things in my head or in conversations when I don't actually know the hours I'm spending on them. I try to be much more realistic with my time. Today I want to share this exercise for YOU to consider. I know you probably don't want another thing to do to add to your already busy life, but this might just give you the insight you need to see how you're actually spending your days and give you the courage to make the changes that you want to make. How do you stick to your weekly flow? We’re back for another episode of Well Planned, a Plan Simple series with Megan Flatt. Megan is a business growth strategist who works with female entrepreneurs, specifically mom entrepreneurs. She helps women build thriving businesses that they can feel good about and sustain them while still being actively present in the day-to-day lives of their kids and their families. One of her secret weapons is the Weekly Workflow, which we talked about on a our Systems and Support episode. I like to call it time blocking. A weekly workflow is different from your schedule, but it’s what helps you schedule all the important stuff. For example, you might have certain days you see clients and certain days that you work on creating content or record your podcast and certain days that you do other things. You assign certain blocks of time to particular task buckets—then you fit specific tasks into those buckets. We discuss making a plan (even if you aren’t a planner), and sticking with it. We also talk about how to stay on track when stuff comes up—a kid emergency or something else that causes you to change your plan. Because stuff always comes up. So what do you do about it? We talk about: Making sure there is enough buffer space to let you shift things around, for example to reschedule calls if you have a sick kid or to keep moving on a project if you are in a groove or even if something fun comes up that you want to do—if you schedule every week down to the minute you lose that necessary flexibility Having a framework and then plotting out the week OR just taking the time to plot out the week, whichever is working for your life right now Creating rules and boundaries, like saying I don’t see clients on Fridays, for yourself to help make things easier Using a framework for home and selfcare stuff as well as business stuff (like Mia’s food rhythm or Megan making sure she eats lunch every day) Deciding whether or not your plan is realistic and what needs to happen for it to be realistic—and getting realistic about how we are actually spending our time Accounting for transitions between activities—you need time to stretch or get more water or switching gears mentally Knowing your own personality and what kind of accountability or motivation you need We touched on motherhood and balance and being the default parent, but we’d love to talk about it some more Have a question for Mia and Megan?Go to plansimplemeals.com/ask. You will get prompted to record your question and we’ll try to answer it. Or just email your question to mia@plansimplemeals.com Megan Flatt is a Mama CEO, a business growth strategist, and a planning pro. She’s been working with clients for years to create strategic growth plans in their business that allow them to scale while still being present for the important moments in their families’ lives. She shows Mama CEOs with big vision and great ideas how to get those big CEO ideas into a day-by-day plan where they actually happen.   LINKS Meganflatt.com Systems and Support episode So Money The Four Tendencies Better Than Before The Happiness Project   Doable Changes from this episode: ADD BUFFER TIME. Try adding buffer time into your day. Think of this as transition or runway time, the time you need in between activities. This might mean 10 minutes between client calls to use the bathroom and refresh your water or 5 minutes before you need to leave the house to gather things you need. Then add buffer time to your week. Know that if you have a sick kid one day or a project runs over that there is some extra time build into your week to absorb at least some of that. SET ONE HABIT. Pick one thing that you will make a habit. It could be filling your car with gas on the same day and time every week or putting your phone in the other room when you are focusing on writing. Pick ONE thing and start to do it regularly until it becomes routine. TRACK YOUR TIME. We tend to underestimate how long it takes to do things and how long we are distracted sometimes. Start jotting down when you start a task and when you finish it. Then start using this data when you plan. If week after week it takes you an hour and a half to write a blog post, stop trying to give yourself half an hour to write it. If you are going to write for three hours and halfway through you go to write a Facebook post and get lost in there for an hour, note that. Start to see where you are actually spending your time.

Here are the 5 things that will help you DOUBLE your personal and/or landscaping business income in 2017 1.) Hire Someone to do EVERYTHING in Your Business Besides Sales You've gotta focus on the key drivers of growth and the #1 item you must pay attention to is sales and revenue generation. Yes, payroll, expense tracking, web design, office organization etc are all important but having a clean desk or perfectly design Profit/Loss Statement won't double your business in one year. Outsource clerical/admin tasks or hire someone to do them for you. You should be out in the field, giving estimates, talking to property managers for maintenance contracts, meeting contractors for landscaping work. 2.) Call Your 10 Dream Clients/Customers Which companies or persons would blow your business up if they became paying customers? Write them down — call them. Better yet, walk into their office and show them you mean business about doing business with them. If you listened to the last episode on guerrilla marketing you already have some tactical ideas for approaching property management companies and obtaining commercial contracts. 3.) Track Your Time and Work 8% More Per Day 8% is just 2 hours per day. That might mean cutting out some TV time or mindlessly fingering through magazines or watching sports highlights on YouTube, but the results of this ultra productivity will pay big dividends — not just financial ones either. Get your focus on time, it' the one thing you got! Spend this time systemizing your business, generating leads, and working ON the business. 4.) Cut Your Monthly Expenses by 25% This is personal finance 101. Cutting back might mean selling the big house in the nice neighborhood or downsizing from the Mercedes E-Class to a Honda Accord. Or it might just mean not eating out and going to the movies 3-4 times/week. Decrease your expenses, limit you junk, live a more fulfilling life. 5.) Know You Numbers and Set Bench Marks If you want to go from $30K / year to $60K per year you will need to increase your income by $2500 per month. Set benchmarks. In the next 6 months you need to increase your monthly income by $1250. Seem hard? That just means you need to make $42 more each day. Know your numbers, break it down, set benchmarks.

A little more time for Video marketing that is that can all be created in a small amount of time with these tips... Tip #1 The Shorter the Better The less you say, the more likely people are to remember. Video is an overview or a hook to get people to take the next step. Did you know that after After 7 seconds people been to fade. If you are doing a promo or commercial. Never over 60 seconds. I like 30 even better. The shorter the video is, the less time it takes to complete every other aspect of the whole entire process is. Writing, filming, editing, less graphics etc. Tip #2 Focus on 4 simple things: - The problem - The solution - How it works - A call to action Tip #3 Do a shot list to organize your shots/thoughts before you roll the camera. Tip #4 Your video doesn't have to be a big production. Remember you are not competing with HBO. It's engaging and personal and from the heart. Authenticity at it's best. Just be you, in your clothes, in a comfortable setting. And just get your point across. Tip #5 Use equipment that you are comfortable with. An iPhone is fine! Use a soft light in your home. Make sure your sound is clear and go! Tip #6 Batch the process. If you have 3 videos to create, do it all at the same time. Or parts of the process at the same time. For example, write all the scripts in one sitting. Shoot all the videos in one morning. Keep it together and your work flow will be efficient. Tip #7 Recap on the 50 tips! Find solutions in your business to free up time....or take something out of your schedule that isn't as effective for scaling your business and insert video marketing. FYI-I have these tips on a nice little infographic with all the notes and details for you... just go to caseydestefano.com/7VideoTips and will be sent to your inbox asap!
