Together, Nick and Michael explore why communication is the single most overlooked skill in HR and leadership development, and why the gap between a good leader and a great one almost always comes down to how well they can communicate, influence, and connect. This conversation unpacks what it truly means to master the art of communication from the inside out. Nick and Michael discuss why talent is nothing more than practice in disguise, how preparation is the real source of confidence on stage, and why the spotlight effect is quietly destroying the impact of otherwise brilliant leaders. They explore why most professionals have never received a single hour of public speaking or presentation training, and why that gap is costing organizations more than they realize. They also explore how elite communicators listen just as powerfully as they speak, why reading the room is a skill that separates good presenters from exceptional ones, and how the deepest wounds in our personal story often sit right next to our greatest strengths. The discussion highlights why most presentations fail not because of poor content but because of poor emotional design, and how shifting the question from what do I want to say to how do I want them to feel changes everything. In a world where AI is rapidly commoditizing information and content, this episode examines why human communication has never been more valuable, why effort and personalization are the ultimate costly signals in business, and how HR and L&D professionals can invest in the one skill that touches every part of their role.A must-listen for HR leaders, L&D professionals, and anyone ready to stop leaving their communication potential on the table and start showing up with the presence, preparation, and emotional intelligence their message deserves.Enjoyed this? In this live broadcast from April 8th, Pastor John Alworth shifts the focus of recovery from mere abstinence to the necessity of a personal relationship with the Creator. Drawing a parallel to "Gallery Furniture's" famous slogan, Alworth emphasizes that God’s plan for healing is "free, free, free," provided one is willing to engage in a reciprocal bond of love. The episode outlines the dynamics of the man-God relationship through several key perspectives: God’s Initiating Love: Alworth explains that God’s love is "initiating" and "sacrificial." Using the imagery of the Garden of Eden, he notes that when humanity hid in sin, it was God who came looking for them, asking, "Where are you?" He highlights that Christ’s sacrifice on the cross occurred while we were still sinners, proving that God loves individuals into transformation rather than waiting for them to clean themselves up first. The Two-Way Street of Love: A healthy relationship cannot be one-sided. Alworth challenges listeners to move beyond "knocking" and actually open the door to Christ (Revelation 3:20). He defines loving God back through obedience—not as a rigid set of rules, but as a path to clearing the "chaos" of a sinful lifestyle—and through trusting His plan over personal preferences. The Biological Benefit of Worship: Alworth introduces the concept of neuroplasticity, specifically how worship affects the brain. He explains that acts of devotion and creative praise cause "dendrites" (the connectors between neurons) to flower and bloom. Remarkably, the area of the brain most improved by this spiritual practice is the center for empathy, which directly impacts the second greatest commandment: loving your neighbor. Recovery as Reconciliation: Whether recovering from addiction, pride, or a "divided society," the solution remains the same: reconciliation. Alworth reminds listeners that unforgiveness is a "ball and chain" that only weighs down the person holding the grudge. By forgiving oneself and others, the "bridge" broken in Eden is restored. The program concludes with an invitation to move past "religion" (a man-made construct) and embrace "relationship"—the intimacy of crying "Abba, Father" to a God who is ready to pick His children up every time they stumble. Key Scriptural References Romans 5:8Christ dying for us while we were yet sinners. John 5:6The fundamental question of recovery: "Do you want to be healed?" Revelation 3:20The invitation to open the door and "sup" (socialize) with God. 1 John 4:19We love because He first loved us. Psalm 139Being fearfully and wonderfully made with an individual purpose. Reflection Question Pastor Alworth mentioned that we often try to "clean ourselves up" before coming to God. Is there an area of your life you've been trying to "fix" on your own before inviting Him into the process?See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We often treat movement like a one-way equation: Brain → Body → Performance. But in reality, it's a feedback loop. The body is constantly sending information back to the brain, and that information shapes how we move, perform, and recover. In this conversation with Harry Worrow, we talk about his frameworks for working with everyone from athletes to individuals with neurodegenerative conditions, and how he uses biomechanical analysis paired with functional neurology. Specifically, we cover: The two-way relationship between neurology and biomechanics Why better sensory input leads to better movement output A deeper look at working with the visual and vestibular systems Why movement quality should come before load and intensity Strategies for long-term progression in neurodegenerative cases Movement is a blend of hardware and software, mechanics and neuroscience. Ultimately, it's shaped by how the nervous system interprets and responds to the world – and the good news is that this you can influence this process with the right techniques and strategies.

Nervous system regulation isn't just about breathwork, cold exposure, or calming rituals. Those tools matter—but they're only half the equation. In this episode, we break down why true nervous system support is a two-way street: regulating the system and removing the internal stressors that keep the body stuck in survival mode. Dr. Halie talks about how things like gut infections, parasites, mold exposure, chronic inflammation, and nutrient deficiencies quietly drive fight-or-flight, making regulation practices feel ineffective or short-lived. If you're doing “all the right things” but still feel wired, tired, or inflamed, this episode explains why—and what a more honest, root-cause approach to nervous system healing actually looks like.Work with me HEREMinerals and Chill link (code drhalie10) Clean brands, supplements, non tox staples I love Connect with us on social media @drhalieschoff

Ryan was especially interested in the back-end logic that was executed in the applications. 05:32 Ryan – “I was impressed because there’s how we’re thinking about AI is still evolving, and how we’re protecting it’s gonna be changing rapidly, and having real-world examples really helped really flesh out how their AI services are, how they’re integrated into a security ecosystem. It was pretty impressive. And it’s something that’s near and dear. I’ve been working and trying to roll out Google agent spaces and different AI workloads and trying to get involved and make sure that we, just getting visibility into all the different ones. What if time isn't a river flowing in one direction, but rather, a two-way street? In this episode of Unpacking Possibility, psychologist Traci Stein delves into the intriguing concept of retrocausality, the possibility that our future actions and thoughts can influence our past. Traci discusses the traditional view of time and challenges it with the idea that future events and future decisions may affect us even before they occur. The episode also explores how precognitive dreams or other knowings may be generated retrocausally by future events.Traci provides examples of what retrocausality is and how it might work via highlighting experiments by noted psychologist Dr. Daryl Bem and information outlined in anthropologist Eric Wargo's book, “Time Loops.” Traci also offers an exercise for listeners to try out sending positive emotions and support back to their past selves in the service of feeling, doing, and living better overall.00:00 What if the River of Time is a Two-Way Street?00:38 Overview of Retrocausality, or the Future Affecting the Past02:33 Precognition, Retrocausality and Time Loops05:00 Examples and Experiments on Precognition20:36 Psychological and Hypnotic Perspectives on Healing the Past35:44 Practical Exercises and ConclusionFor more on Traci Stein, her hypnotic imagery, courses and more, visit: https://www.drtracistein.com/For more information about Dr. Daryl Bem's research and an abstract of, “Feeling the Future,” visit: https://psycnet.apa.org/doiLanding?doi=10.1037%2Fa0021524For more on Eric Wargo's interviews, books (including Time Loops), and his work related to precognition and retrocausality, visit: https://ericwargo.com/

Joshua 11:1-23 | Andrew Murch | The question before us centers on why we should care about these narratives in Joshua. Aren't they just bedtime stories we read to our children? 1 Corinthians 10:11 tells us why the historical books in both the Old Testament and New Testament are so important. “Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction.” The narratives that we read are all lessons that we are to learn from those who went before us. As we read about the victories of God's people, our faith is increased knowing that God will do the same for us. He will give us victory over our enemies.

Lee Horton delves into the critical role of setting clear expectations in leadership and team dynamics. He emphasises that expectations should be a shared understanding between leaders and their teams, forming the foundation for trust, collaboration, and success. Drawing an analogy from Santa Claus, Lee illustrates how genuine connection and clarity can lead to delightful surprises rather than unwelcome ones in the workplace. He outlines three essential steps for leaders: listening deeply to their teams, collaboratively setting expectations, and connecting meaningfully with individuals. By prioritising these elements, leaders can unlock creativity, innovation, and stronger relationships within their teams, ultimately driving better results. KEY TAKEAWAYS Importance of Clear Expectations: Expectations should be a shared understanding between parties. When they are clear, aligned, and agreed upon, they form the foundation for trust, collaboration, and success. Connection is Key: Building genuine connections on a human level is essential for effective leadership. This includes understanding team members' strengths, motivations, and challenges, as well as fostering a two-way connection. Three Steps for Leaders: To enhance connection and set expectations effectively, leaders should: 1. Listen deeply to their teams to understand their needs and aspirations. 2. Set expectations collaboratively, clarifying what should happen while co-creating how it will happen. 3. Connect meaningfully with team members, moving beyond transactional relationships to build trust and rapport. Two-Way Street of Leadership: Leadership involves both top-down and bottom-up communication. Leaders must provide direction while also empowering their teams to contribute ideas and solutions, ensuring everyone feels heard and valued. Unlocking Potential: When leaders prioritise connection and set clear expectations, they unlock not just the potential for results, but also for creativity, innovation, joy, and strong relationships within the team. BEST MOMENTS "An expectation is a shared understanding of what is desired, required, and possible between two or more people." "When people understand each other, when there's genuine two-way connection, expectations are met and surprises are welcome." "Missed expectations lead to frustration, they lead to conflict, leads to disengagement." "Leaders must build genuine relationships with their people. Leadership isn't a one-way street." "Expectations are powerful, but only when they're clear, aligned and agreed upon." Not all forces are aligned to push rates higher Though the possibility of tariffs and immigration reform, in combination with pro-growth policies, would seem to bias interest rates higher, the 10Y yield is up fairly modestly since election results were announced. And while Mark Cabana expects the 10Y yield to trade in a higher range than it did previously, Mark and the team don't expect 10Y yields to run to 5% and beyond. Mark joins us to discuss the forces that could push rates higher and those that could weigh them down. He discusses Fed path implications for the 10Y and how the rate components have changed since the election. Mark also discusses how US policies could spill over to rate markets globally and what that means for Treasury demand. Today, Matt discusses the significance of building coaching cultures with sales leader Derek Bates, VP of Northeast Sales at Alteryx. They delve into the myths of sales coaching, the importance of efficiency and work-life balance, and Derek's unique 3-P (People, Process, Performance) framework. Derek shares insights from his extensive career at Oracle and how he has applied those experiences at Alteryx. Additionally, they touch on personal stories, including Derek's college baseball coach's influence, the role of leadership in retaining talent, and strategies for effective time management.Takeaways:Recognize that money isn't the only motivator. Salespeople are complex, and good leaders need to understand what truly drives their team members beyond just their compensation.Encourage discipline and efficiency to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Overworking should not be glorified; find ways to help your team manage their time effectively.Tailor your coaching approach to the individual needs of each team member. Every person is different; understanding their unique triggers and motivational factors will help you coach them more effectively.Hire and build teams with a diversity of thought. Different perspectives can lead to innovative solutions and a more dynamic team environment.Teach and practice strong time-management skills. Block off dedicated time for key activities like prospecting to maintain a steady pipeline and avoid the rollercoaster effect in performance.Develop and refine processes that support your team but allow their creativity to shine with customers. A good process should eliminate internal inefficiencies.Teach your team to look at the bigger picture in their deals and accounts. Hitting short-term targets is important, but building sustainable long-term relationships with clients is essential.Quote of the Show:“Not everybody works like you, otherwise they would be in your role.” - Derek BatesLinks:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/derek-bates-a14a7720/ Website: https://www.alteryx.com/ Ways to Tune In:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0Yb1wPzUxyrfR0Dx35ym1A Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coach2scale-how-modern-leaders-build-a-coaching-culture/id1699901434 Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy50cmFuc2lzdG9yLmZtL2NvYWNoMnNjYWxlLWhvdy1tb2Rlcm4tbGVhZGVycy1idWlsZC1hLWNvYWNoaW5nLWN1bHR1cmU Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/fd188af6-7c17-4b2e-a0b2-196ecd6fdf77 Podchaser: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/coach2scale-how-modern-leaders-5419703 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Coach2Scale CoachEm™ is the first Coaching Execution Platform that integrates deep learning technology to proactively analyze patterns, highlight the "why" behind the data with root causes, and identify the actions that will ultimately improve business results going forward. We've all been there. Prepped extensively for a job interview only to clam up, stumble over our words and feel like we failed a test. Are we right? Join CH this week as she reflects on her experience having sat on both sides of the interview table, and how she has come to believe job interviewing should ideally be a collaborative event, not a one-sided interrogation. And that meaningful dialogue is just as important as being able to answer questions. She also delves into her own unique analogy of how job interviews can sometimes resemble an actor auditioning for a part. At the end of the day, though, it's all about the importance of actively listening, balancing preparation with authenticity, seeing the entire experience as a two-way conversation, and feeling empowered to walk way if red flags start to appear - no matter how much we may want the job. Show Notes CH references the term active (or actively) listening throughout the episode. You can Google the term to learn more, or check out the Wikipedia definition.
The common wisdom these days says that "interviewing is a two-way street." In other words, the candidate is evaluating you and your company and your opportunity at the same time. Unfortunately, like most common wisdom - wisdom not being common - this is very bad advice! Candidates should not be trying to interview you while you are interviewing them. Here's what to do when they start asking questions. They'll get their chance to ask questions, but not just yet.
