En 2012, on découvrait Jake Bugg, le Britannique avait tout juste 18 ans. Acclamé par les critiques, on lui promettait un avenir brillant et on lui endossait déjà le rôle de jeune prodige de la scène folk rock anglaise. Le chanteur et guitariste fête les 10 ans de sa carrière musicale avec un cinquième album “Saturday Night, Sunday Morning”. Depuis sa troisième production, le public s'est un peu désengagé de la relation qu'il partageait avec Jake Bugg. Les ventes ont inexorablement chuté et ont conduit Jake Bugg à quitter sa maison de disques Virgin EMI. Désormais signé chez Sony, l'anglais prend un nouvelle direction musicale avec “Saturday Night, Sunday Morning” en s'orientant vers une pop rock accrocheuse et bien plus mainstream. Forcément, ce choix ne met pas toutes les critiques d'accord. Ça tombe bien parce que, finalement, il en faut pour tous les goûts ! Et lui, Jake Bugg, a pris un plaisir fou à faire ce disque. Il dégage de cette dizaine de titres une énergie incontestable. Loin de la folk de ses débuts, Jake Bugg s'offre quelques envolées funk et disco sur ce nouvel album. Et puis parfois, Jake Bugg nous fait la surprise de s'adoucir pour des pianos/voix minimalistes mais efficaces. “Saturday Night, Sunday Morning” nous fait revivre les hauts et les bas de nos week-ends, de l'euphorie à la dégringolade. Dans un monde où tout va bien, Jake Bugg sera sur la scène de la Cigale à Paris le Vendredi 15 avril 2022. De quoi concentrer en quelques heures les affres et les joies d'un week-end le temps d'un concert.
