Text the Show or Leave a VoicemailToday we're coming back to our interview with identical twin first responders Stuart and Steve Littlefield. Stuart is thirty-year cop, on the SWAT team and also a homicide detective; Steve is the thirty year firefighter. Both worked at the same time in the same city, my home of KCK. Today we're going to to talk about a couple of dramatic critical incidents they were involved in and also answer the question of which service is healthier and which one is worse. Pharmacists at the University of Kansas Medical Center in KCK have petitioned for a union election. It's next week. They wonder why there's so little room for advancement in their jobs and why the rules leave them without justice on the job. Our feature is Safety First with Mary Erio.
President Trump hosted a small business event at the White House Monday and one of the businesses featured was Slap's BBQ in KCK. Joe Pearce, the owner, was there with staff. The president was a little bit interested in the various sauces but mostly just asked the Slap's boys if Patrick Mahomes was going to be ok and start the season in week one. This is so good. A national hotel association says World Cup bookings are a disaster nationwide and KC is the worst of the worst. Not only are 650k people not coming to KC... regular summer visitors are AVOIDING KC because of the World Cup. Dang, if only a local podcaster could have warned officials this would happen. A pair of drivers at Central Bank in Sugar Creek got quite a scare when the roof collapsed above them. The Royals beat the Guardians with another great looking game, 6-2, and have now won 8 out of 10. The Chiefs sign 3 players out of 108 that tried out at Rookie Mini Camp... all at positions of need. The Dallas Cowboys take an off season wedding photo for the ages and Stephen A Smith welcomes back an old partner this week at ESPN.
In the fourth and final hour of New Day with SSJ we are joined by Chiefs Hall of Famer Tim Grunhard, SSJ and Tim start by recalling SSJ’s trip to Tim’s hometown. FEM The Future's mission is to build a female-forward future through creating opportunities for young womxn and girls in music, arts, and education.
We use the word "history" way too much in sports media. But Monday night was historic at Allen Field House over the most dramatic regular season three hours in years. We got a sad little whiny superstar sitting out sick, a staffer on press row texting that Darryn Peterson said, "Eff it" to playing and a wildly enthusiastic Bill Self after knocking off the number one team in the country. Oh, this made up for all the lack of fun at Super Bowl 60. Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark was at the game and says big changes are coming to the Big 12 tourney. Are they about to pay players for performance? Bad Bunny's halftime show would NEVER have been allowed in English, that's for sure. So why doesn't the FCC go after the NFL/NBC hard for all the violations in Spanish. It could be happening. 175,000 KC residents are now eligible to get their Amazon packages delivered by drones from KCK. Americans gobbled up a record amount of been in 2025. Kid Rock hits #1 on the charts while a lesser known artist records an anti-Sprinsteen song for the ages. The Royals do the cheapest thing ever and a small plane lands on traffic filled road in Georgia and the pilot must have been very hungry.
In this segment, we're joined by Christal Watson, the mayor of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and KCK. She shares her perspective on the recent vote to move forward with a sales tax for the proposed stadium project. Watson discusses the economic opportunities and challenges, including the state's expectations and the potential impact on local residents. She also addresses concerns about the tax's scope and the county's growth prospects. With a focus on transparency and community engagement, Watson provides insight into the complexities of this development project and its potential benefits for the area.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In this segment, Matt Flener from Channel 9 KMBC joins Pete to discuss the latest developments on the proposed stadium deal in Wyandotte County. The conversation touches on the public hearing in KCK, where an overwhelming majority of people spoke out against the deal, citing concerns about the speed of the process and the potential impact on the community. Matt shares insights from the meeting, including the idea of shrinking the proposed local district to focus on the stadium area. The discussion also explores the role of transparency and the pressure from the state to get the deal done.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Later on this afternoon, the K-State women's tennis team will have their 1st head-to-head matchup with ACC #21 ranked opponent in the Clemson Tigers in KCK!
An inspiring and enjoyable conversation with Eladio Valdez III, for almost thirty years the coach and owner of "The Runner's Edge", one of the largest runnning groups in the country. An accomplished runner himself, the KCK native has set and achieved countless goals throughout his life. Fascinating and uplifting!
After a long layoff, Kyle laced ‘em up for a doubleheader weekend and brought back two fresh race reviews. First up: the second annual Nolan Davidson Champions Run 10K in KCK—solid organization, community heart, and plenty of course character to wake up the legs. Then it's holiday cheer at the Jingle Bell Run 5K for the Arthritis Foundation, where costumes, cowbells, and a great cause turned miles into momentum. We talk start-line vibes, course flow, aid and finish experience, and the little moments that make local races worth showing up for. No time goals, just honest effort—and a reminder that racing with friends might be the best comeback plan of all. If you're hunting for late-season events to circle next year, this episode puts two on the shortlist and spotlights a mission worth supporting.

Almost 40 days into the government shutdown and the predictable seems to be playing out, the GOP is extending an olive branch and tasty goodies for the Dems to re-open. This is pathetic. Former CIA Director John Brennan could be in serious trouble as the DOJ is starting to issue subpoenas for a grand jury. The Chiefs have a wandering eye so strong that requests for proposals are out for architects and builders and a new stadium in KCK according to a report from Pete Mundo at KCMO Talk Radio. Meanwhile, the Royals have surveyed their fans and the results trickling out are hilarious. The Broncos are the best defense, and the ugliest team in all of football. They also now have the league's best record. Lee Sterling of www.paramountsports.com is here with the pigskin picks and our song of the week is about the new communist New York City.

In this week's episode, we revisit our interview with Karen Long, a Managing Director at KCK (Med Tech) Group. KCK focuses on capital investment in commercial and growth-stage medical device companies. Karen has been with KCK since January 2018, when she joined as Executive-in-Residence. Karen serves as Board Director in many KCK portfolio companies as well as Independently. Prior to KCK, Karen was President and CEO of Nuelle, a women's consumer health company incubated at ExploraMed, a Silicon Valley medical device incubator. Nuelle was acquired in 2017. Karen has spent over 20 years in medical devices and diagnostics developing and marketing novel and market leading products focused on improving quality of life. She has held a series of key operating roles in consumer diagnostic companies, ChemTrak and Inverness Medical and eventually management positions at LifeScan, a Johnson & Johnson company, after the acquisition of Inverness Medical. In early 2007, Karen joined Acclarent as Worldwide Vice President of Marketing and led Acclarent's marketing efforts through rapid growth and ultimately through the acquisition by Johnson & Johnson. Karen held remained at Johnson & Johnson until joining the ExploraMed incubator in 2012. Acclarent was also an early spinout from ExploraMed. Karen began her career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker after receiving her undergraduate and graduate degrees from San Diego State University.

Trump's Department of Education is going after four school districts in Kansas for supporting all the creepy and immoral sex change issues at school. Shawnee Mission, Olathe and KCK districts are three of the four and it seems to me there is something else in play here. I gotta get to www.robertsrobinson.com and see if they can dial up one of these new ICE vehicles Trump just debuted on the streets of DC. One of them is the baddest GMC SUV you have ever seen! The dude that slammed his Subway sandwich at a cop in DC, incredibly, works for the department of justice. I'm sorry... he used to work for the DOJ. The Chiefs play at Seattle Friday night and they catch a huge break with Rashee Rice. Tonight's Royals pitcher has the coolest shoes ever for Players Weekend. College football hype has started, but not at the home of the Big 12 champs. CBS has produced a feature with Kevin Harlan having him recall some of his calls. We'll play it and you're going to love it as one of them was an incredible Chiefs game. And our song of the week is an very famous band with an oldie that perfectly describes Trump's week taking over DC.
The Royals got a great win in Boston on Wednesday night, incredibly, it's their 10th straight win in the final game of a series. The whole thing was caught on film as a popular CBS television crime drama was filming at Fenway for an episode this fall. The NFL coughing up the NFL Network for 10% equity in ESPN is one of the great deals of all time. The NFL Network lost a lot of money over the years and now they have their best products on a bigger platform to make even more money. It's controversial to say the least. Patrick Mahomes says he has to be better this year for the Chiefs to succeed and I agree. The real question is how serious he is about it. Is this training camp lip service or does Mahomes really think he has to get better? Putin has indicated he's ready to end the war in Ukraine as Trump is about to level incredible financial hardship on Russia. There's reportedly a summit for next week. Meanwhile, in DC, Trump is calling in the National Guard to make the capitol safe again. An illegal alien in KCK reached fame as part of a Netflix series in 2019 and now he says he can't take it here anymore and is self deporting. You have to hear these details and why this is so perfect. The New Zealand Air Force saves three Americans in Antarctica and Trump is using his paycheck to remodel the White House historical association gift shop.
In this episode, Dale and Kurt discuss more violence in Kansas City and around the country as a KCK police officer is gunned down, massive brawls break out in Cincinnati, and a shooter takes to a Manhattan office building. Plus, an economic update as Democrats melt down over the fed and housing, Trump visits Scotland, redefining "fascism", Cory Booker puts on his angry eyes, Eric Swalwell gets ripped, Stephen A Smith for president, and Sydney Sweeney has good "jeans".Make sure to like, comment, subscribe, and share Dale Carter's America with your friends! Is this the week for the big, beautiful bill to pass? If president Trump has his way, he will sign it on the Fourth of July. But somehow that seems too good to be true. Then again, Trump is on a heater and everything seems possible. Kansas Senate president Ty Masterson released all the information on a potential Chiefs stadium in KCK and did a tv interview this week to talk about it. In the process, he couldn't have disrespected the Royals more. Kamala Harris can't even line up donors to help her run for Governor of California. Bobby Witt Jr needs your help to be the starter in the all star game. And the World Cup group stage matches featured over 1 million empty seats.
In this episode, Dale and Kurt discuss the latest in continuing anti-ICE riots and protests in California and across the country. Plus, Trump and Elon beef on X, GM brings manufacturing jobs back to KCK, a disagreement on legal immigration, historical precedent for bringing in the National Guard, ridiculous J6 comparisons, more fun with the trans movement, and Bret Baier gets jiggy with it.Make sure to like, comment, subscribe, and share Dale Carter's America with your friends!
The Peter Vermes era has come to an end in the KCK. Sporting Kansas City now has to seek a new identity for the first time in 16 years. The new coach bounce was pretty big last week in San Jose, but is there a future under interim leadership? This is no longer the team led by an experienced goalkeeper between the posts. We invited Jimmy and Daniel from the No Other Pod podcast to discuss this brave new world for SKC. Now that the old guard has left, who pilots the offense? In this wide-ranging episode, Jonathan and Cody reunite to ask the big questions: When do you stop being “from Kansas City”? Why are people pretending not to swear when they stub their toe? And is there really only 8 billion people on Earth? Because it sure feels like more. Jonathan tells the story of how he lost a sale by telling someone from Salem, MA that she is not, in fact, “from Boston.” Cody coins the phrase “New Orleans Chiefs,” and the guys debate whether moving the Royals across the state line actually matters. Spoiler: it doesn't if you're from Cass County. They also rip apart the new “Eat Like a Baby” diet (Jonathan: “Babies eat slow because they have no teeth!”), and break down the cultural phenomenon of the Hot Mugshot Girl, who may or may not be getting arrested for clout. That naturally leads to a conversation about attractive people getting out of speeding tickets and the complicated ethics of body cams, crime, and charisma. Also in the mix: Why men become obsessed with mowing the lawn after age 30 Whether tall grass once hid saber-toothed mole cats And why the real freaks are the 26% of people who claim they don't swear when they stub their toe As always, Cody wraps things up with some real talk about his tech shop, Akins PC Repair, and their new line of gear that might just outlast your laptop, your phone, and possibly your next several relationships.

If you were somebody's boss and they went on tv and trashed your decisions, what would you do? Well, whatever you would do is not going to happen at MSNBC where Rachel Maddow just unloaded on the network for cutting costs and employees. Elon Musk says a small number of government employees responded to their email request to share what they did last week. Now he says, at the President's discretion, everyone gets a second chance to send anything in to their supervisor or they will be fired. A married couple in KCK got arrested at the same time Monday in different locations. We'll tell you what they did in January to deserve it. Polls show Americans are no longer divided. I will give you 12 Trump initiatives currently taking place that as many as 83% of us are all in favor of. Hunter Dickinson is the player KU fans love to hate... but he's still their best player by far. And he proved in Monday night in a win over Colorado. Mizzou has a chance to win its last four starting tonight. Cole Ragans is already throwing 98 mph and we remember our walkout at Kauffman Stadium in 1999 after the passing of the announcer that bashed us KC fans that night
It may not make the New England Journal of Medicine but we have found a cure for the college basketball doldrums... the Missouri Tigers. Let's call them the Fast and Furious as they are must watch material popping #4 Alabama scoring 110 points. Mizzou and Auburn are the most fun teams in America to watch. I don't care how it happened I'm just glad it did. According to my sources, Chiefs President Mark Donovan is all in on a shiny new stadium at the Legends in KCK where KC can host a Super Bowl. His one last hurdle is to convince owner Clark Hunt its the best thing to do. We'll share the one hurdle Donovan has to clear to get it done. Team USA Hockey is ready to rock Thursday night against Canada... this time on American ice in Boston. I've got one request from the fans. Trump says he wants to take over Washington DC and federalize it. Trump says it's embarrassing for visiting world leaders to see what its become. The new commerce secretary is a shot of adrenaline and is fired up for how quickly he believes Trump's policies will turn around the economy and bring down interest rates. Tony Botello of www.tonyskansascity.com pens a thoughtful piece about the final years of Andrew Lester's life. Lester was the scared old man that shot the kid on his porch a couple years ago, pleaded guilty to assault just days ago and then died on Wednesday. So sad. A former NFL kicker misses wide left in front of a fully right city council in our new favorite community in LA and what is "fowling?" I wanna play.
Amber Lea is a daughter, a sister, a wife, and a mother figure to her husband's two kids. She's an incredibly intelligent woman with a great sense of humor that has taken on the challenge of facing health and medical issues with an admirable sense of strength. She's also the owner of Dear You Tattoo (4470 Rainbow in KCK), and she's my guest for Episode No. 156.I usually chat with my guests for a few minutes before we launch into the conversation, and somewhere along the way in that transition, I cut off Amber's name in introducing her, and went straight in to Dear You details, so my apologies to Amber for that oversight. Talking with Amber was really great, though.Every once in a while, I get to sit down with someone who gets the art of conversation and the concept of being real in doing so, and Amber is, for sure, one of those rarities; I consider our chat to've been a blessing. We talked about family and growing up and the pursuit of genuine customer service. We shared a couple of laughs about a few random things like Cheech & Chong, and raved over a few MTV Unplugged (which has been around for 29 seasons and over 100 episodes!) performances. And of course we talked about a few of Amber's favorite albums, which she was kind enough to break into two lists:All-Time FavesMinistry's With Sympathy (1983)Pretty Hate Machine (1989), Nine Inch NailsPortishead's Dummy (1994)Mezzanine (1998), Massive AttackModern Brain TicklersServices (2015), TempersPublic Memory's Wuthering Drum (2016)I'm Waving, Not Drowning (2020), Matte BlvckHealth's Disco4, pt. 1&2 (2022)Please check out Dear You on Instagram (@dearyoutattoo), or peruse their super-handsome Web site, dearyoutattoo.com. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Justice For Wyandotte. Visit their website @ https://www.justiceforwyandotte.org In 2017, Ms. Nikki Richardson and Khadijah Hardaway co-founded the Kansas City, Kansas non-profit with a stated mission to: “Persistently foster sustainable communities in the KCK metro area by advocating for honest, accountable, and transparent governance and empowering people.” Both Ms. Richardson and Ms. Hardaway are classified as black females. Gus learned about Justice For Wyandotte while studying deceased Race Soldier Roger Golubski. The White former Kansas City Kansas enforcement officer spent over three decades brandishing a badge and gun before eventually transitioning to the FBI. After years of allegations and suspicion, Golubski was charged with sex trafficking crimes in 2022. On the day his criminal trial was set to commence, he allegedly took his own life with a stolen firearm. After 3 years of chaos between the Royals, Jackson County and KCMO, the state of Kansas is about to vote on new language in their STAR Bond laws that would finance 100% of a new stadium for the Chiefs and/or the Royals. 100 percent. The catch? Well... Kansas wants the project to cost at least $1 billion each and have at least 30,000 seats. This is swift and effective and there will be a deadline for the teams to take the money and run from Missouri. So what a great time to have Kansas Speedway president Pat Warren on the podcast to talk about this week's Advent Health 400 in KCK and the possibility of new neighbors moving in. One important note, the interview with Mr. Warren was recorded prior to the Kansas legislature announcing Monday night it's prepared to make this offer to these teams. Kansas Speedway was partially financed by STAR bonds nearly 25 years ago.
The Kansas City, Kansas native has sampled nearly every aspect of business and entertainment. Actress, playwright, board member, film critic, and more. Her movie reviews are featured in KC and around the country and her new PBS series "Get Lost" highlights area road trips. Lonita's infectious and thoughtful personality shines here!.
On this episode, Dale and Kurt revisit some of the founding fathers during the time of the constitutional convention and ponder what they would think about our modern politics. Plus, Nancy Pelosi lies about the debt, the media lies about Claudine Gay's plagiarism, Biden scares everyone into voting for him by rehashing January 6th (again), KCK takes a different approach on gun violence, and Jimmy Kimmel is DEFINITELY not on the Epstein list. This week, a store manager at O'Reilly auto parts in KCK, without a weapon, allegedly tried to stop two thieves that left one of them dead. The details here are not all that well known just yet but the black DA that just charged the white store manager with 2nd degree murder charges says, "race did not play a part in the investigation." Huh? Senator Rand Paul sums up the war in Ukraine and why we should stop supporting it in 60 seconds. That viral singer, Oliver Anthony, crooning Rich Men North of Richmond did what he said he wasn't going to do. He signed a huge record deal with a giant corporation that reps Lizzo and Jonas Brothers. KU coach Lance Leipold is being criticized by media in Utah that cover this week's opponent, BYU, just for telling the truth. We'll preview our CFB games this weekend and then Lee Sterling of www.paramountsports.com has this weeks point spread picks.
The Chicago Bears are a hot mess. A really hot mess. Their quarterback is 5-22 in 27 starts and is blaming the coaches. The defensive coordinator just quit and they have a road game at KC. This is going to be fun. The Chiefs injury list includes a whole bunch of starters but it's a good week to have this issue. The Royals quest for a new stadium hits another roadblock and they will no longer announce their site this month, pushing it off for somewhere down the road. A school in KCK has to play high school football games in daylight after gunfire broke out last week. Merrick Garland's appearance in front of the House Judiciary committee was a slap in the face to the citizens of this great land. Senator Ted Cruz has a Dem prediction you may have heard someplace before. Howard Stern is excited about the latest jab and a school district in Pennsylvania is opening Kindergarten this fall for a record number of twins.
We rarely spend time on wild fires or drought or tornados on this podcast but I'm not sure I've ever seen anything as bad as what has just happened in Maui. The adorable little town near the tourist zone is just flat gone. It doesn't sound right to say, but the images look like Pearl Harbor. 36 are already confirmed dead in one of the worst things ever. New polls about inflation show that the overwhelming majority of Americans blame Joe Biden. Conservatives are targeting NASCAR to "Bud Light Them" after a controversial firing of a driver. A listener sent me the link to all our weather information for July in KC and what do you know... we were way colder and wetter than normal. ESPN and Penn Gaming have struck a $2 Billion deal that will bring ESPN Bet to your app store in Kansas and an ESPN Sportsbook at Hollywood Casino in KCK. And 23 year old Bobby Witt Jr already has his jersey hanging in Cooperstown.
