The links to diet, life style, gut biomes and what we can do about it. Welcome, folks. Good Wednesday morning. It is Wednesday, September the 11th, 2024. For this is episode 3, 556 of the survival podcast. We're bringing back on one of my favorite people to interview Dr. Steven Lewis of green wisdom health. I don't think he's been with us since about 2019. If I remember right somewhere in that range, and it's good to have him back on today. We're going to be talking about stress, anxiety, and depression and how, no, it's. Not all in your head. There's a variety of environmental and nutritional stressors that are actually causing stress. when you have stress, then maybe you have anxiety. And then maybe when you're stressed out and have anxiety. Maybe you get depressed, so you might feel it in your head some, but there are things that you can do to alleviate this and, Dr. Lewis will be with us in just a minute. Next up today, you know, we're going to talk about stress and one of those things that stresses people out is money and having your money constantly erode. That'll stress you out. Well, you know, I don't ever recommend going in all in on anything, but I'll tell you, I've been recommending alternative investments for as long as I've done this show. Anyway, with that, let's bring Dr lewis back on to the survival podcast. Steven, man, welcome to the show. Hey, it's good to be back. Can you just start out with, instead of our subject today, kind of your origin story. Before you decided to go to chiropractic school and then kind of go down this whole world of nutrition with those studies, what was your life like before that? What led you in that direction to choose this as a profession? Well, my parents always took us to the chiropractor first and then an osteopath or MB. Later, if the chiropractor suggested it, I always thought there should be a very symbiotic relationship between them. And that's mostly true now, but, a chiropractor talked me into being a chiropractor and it's been a really good road, because I couldn't handle the blood and guts. I admired the medical profession, but I've seen so many people get well. by taking supplements. And I know the FDA says, it can't help a symptom or cure a disease, but still your body has to have the basics just to work with and our food doesn't have it. And that's why I kind of really admire what you're doing. You're teaching people to grow more nutritious food. And you tell them it's not the soil, it's the microorganism that's, fixing the nitrogen, for example. we're going to talk about microorganisms today and how important that is in your brain health, stress, anxiety, depression, your musculoskeletal health. early on in my chiropractic career, I was really busy. And I noticed that when I put people on nutrients to stop the musculoskeletal inflammation, Then say well God I see better. I'm not as stressed or my husband's nicer to me Which meant I'm not as irritable it all works together structure function nerve supply nutrition and choosing a happy attitude. I think right now people are experiencing more anxiety more depression. but they're also dealing with kind of, as you alluded to, like, and probably part of this is like gut inflammation and you're a chiropractor. So I would imagine muscular skeletal issues or something you'd be looking at. how are all these challenges interconnected? Cause I think people tend to like make these compartmentalized, like anxiety and depressions over here. And that's exactly what pharmaceutical companies want. Cause then they can tell you, right. Take this drug that's on the TV where the mentally, mentally, depressed person is dancing through a field. And then when your hands twitch, take this other drug to go with that first drug.

"Being FAT, faithful, available, and teachable are key to improving your health and energy levels." - Dr. Stephen Lewis Today on Green Wisdom Health: How sedentary lifestyles and chronic pain are significant contributors to fatigue, which can be managed by increasing physical activity gradually and addressing pain through natural anti-inflammatory remedies and dietary changes. Show Notes Welcome to the Green Wisdom Health Podcast with Dr. Steven and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now here are your hosts, Dr. Steven and Janet Lewis. Hello and welcome to this week's edition of the Green Wisdom Health Show. I'm Janet Lewis and I'm Dr. Lewis, and we're excited that you guys have joined us again. I know it's been a bit since we've been here, got so many things to tell you as usual. And I'm sure you're really wondering of why this show is called This Broke My Heart. Uh, Dr. Lewis has decided that he would like to go on air and tell his story, which is partially my story too. It just didn't happen to me, but it could have. Um, I wanted to call this show, This Broke My Heart. Really I wanted to call it My Husband's an Idiot, but I still love him. But Janet said no on that. That's not exactly what she said. She prefaced that with heck no. Because your wife's not an idiot and I didn't want to be in that title. So. Well, you married me. Okay. Um, well, the point is that, you know, we have so many of you people that, uh, listen to me in spite of my Texas draw, which abhors me, but, uh, I take lots of supplements and I believe in them and we go through all kinds of convoluted inside out to get the right ones at the best price. But I'm pretty bad about just showing up and shooting from the hip. Y 'all kind of know that. And we're almost like a mechanic, right? It's like we're really great at fixing other people's cars, but sometimes ignore our own. Yeah. I used to go to court. They pay me big bucks to go testify in court and I wouldn't study cause I love embarrassing the hell out of insurance companies, attorneys. But anyway, I didn't target things that I kind of sort of knew I needed to target. And I'm like everybody else. I'm just cheating a little bit when I'm eating that a Hershey bar or ice cream or whatever. And how long had it been since you've done your last lab? Four and a half years and you you've gone five years. Okay. I'm not, I'm not saying that you did that. I'm just trying to divert the attention off me. But anyway, I screwed around, had a heart attack. So the point is folks that I understand that the world's gone through some really difficult times and people, you know, the inflation and that includes the supplements to, uh, some people have a tendency to drop out and, you know, there's, you know, double down and go for it. And, um, anyway, I don't know how deep you want to get into this heart attack thing. Well, the one, basically we had run, we've been extremely stressed, you know, Brandy was our right hand and she's not been here for quite some time now, even though she still works with us remotely, but not physically in the store, which is a lot of work. And, um, we were under tremendous stress and, you know, and all this things going on in the country's not really helping it either. And so we just kept taking everything we always knew to take, you know, which was, I took half the store. I mean, it wasn't like we weren't taking anything. Well, well, we were taking lots of stuff. Well, uh, we just are joining or we're partner partnering now with a triple board certified pain management doctor. And because of that, we decided we'd run our lab and see what was going on and see what she thought about our...
Are you feeling tired, depressed, and lacking libido? You might be experiencing low testosterone levels. Low testosterone can affect both men and women. But before you rush to the doctor for synthetic testosterone replacement therapy, listen to Dr. Stephen and Janet Lewis talk about the natural way to boost testosterone. Products Mentioned in Today's Show: Nitric Oxide Revive represents an extended-release nitric oxide precursor. Scientists now refer to nitric oxide (NO) as the “foundation” of cardiovascular health. This tiny molecule is a vasodilator responsible for controlling blood flow to the entire body, which may help support healthy blood flow pressure and promote the health of the endothelium—the inside of blood vessels. With age comes diminished NO levels; that's why since 1998, when three scientists won the Nobel Prize for their discovery of NO, researchers have been working to harness its heart-healthy activity. Today, with the application of extended-release technology, that activity has been realized with Nitric Oxide Revive. Testo Essentials Max features two safe, clinically-tested, standardized, and patented ingredients designed to support vitality and general physical and mental well-being in men and women. Numerous studies have demonstrated that PrimaVie® shilajit and LJ100® Eurycoma longifolia support healthy androgen biosynthesis, which includes modulating the influence of sex hormone-binding globulin.† You can also listen to The Natural Way to Boost Testosterone on Spotify here. SHOW NOTES: Speaker 0 (00:00:01) - Welcome to the Green Wisdom Health Podcast with Dr. Steven and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now here are your hosts, Dr. Steven and Janet Lewis. Janet Lewis (00:00:18) - Hello and welcome to this week's edition of the Green Wisdom Health Show. I'm Janet Lewis. Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:00:24) - And I'm Dr. Lewis. Janet Lewis (00:00:25) - And we are excited that you are here today listening to our testosterone podcast, because who doesn't need testosterone? Apparently a lot of people are lacking testosterone, so that's why Dr. Lewis wrote a book about it. But today, we are going to educate men and women about how to balance it naturally. I know people are used to getting patches and things, but we have a little bit different approach, don't we, Dr. Lewis? Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:00:54) - Yeah. I've never thought that, uh, disease was a lack of a drug. And, you know, everybody's got an opinion, but, uh, success leaves clues, but so does failure. Janet Lewis (00:01:07) - Well, um, you know, I think there's maybe some hormonal issues that go on that people don't even realize or could be a testosterone issue, and they're different for men and women. Uh, you know, usually you hear men saying, I need testosterone used to them getting pellets, or, Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:01:25) - That started with Tim Allen going two the two men. Janet Lewis (00:01:29) - Yeah. But why, why is that so rampant nowadays that the testosterone is low? I, I, you know, maybe that's a better place to start. Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:01:39) - You know, there, there are a lot of things, and, and it, it's multifaceted. Well, our food is terrible. They're genetically modified. And I know there's some people say that doesn't matter. Yes, it does. We've been to Europe and we've been to China. It does make a difference. The other thing is we have so many, uh, different things in our environment, 85,000 to a hundred thousand different chemicals that act like estrogen. And that's why, and you've heard me say it many times before, little girls develop breast and menstrual cycle years before they're supposed to. Little boys are getting more and more feminine. And if you hadn't noticed that, you ain't paying attention. And that's why there's, uh, an epidemic of, uh, low testosterone, only more low T clinics popping up and, you know, they're getting, uh,

And now, here are your hosts doctor Steven and Janet Lewis. Hello and welcome to this week's edition of the green wisdom health show. I'm Janet Lewis. And I'm doctor Lewis. And we are here to bring you an exciting show about pain. Doesn't everybody like pain? Actually, we're going to bring you to show about natural solutions to remedy pain. Now that sounds better, doesn't it? Anyway, we are very excited and blessed to be able to bring you some new options to our office. We have all been working diligently on per the past few months. I know you've not heard a podcast from us for a while. So we are back, we have been busy, doctor Lewis, the most busy, but it takes all of us to put it together. Doctor Lewis has been in the middle of creating a bunch of books and one of them is on pain. So doctor Lewis, would you like to tell us a little bit about what you've been doing? Well, I used to recommend so many different books and in January says Stephen quit recommending those Rachel book. It's like, I don't want to write my book. So anyway, we had to develop my answer to that was yes, ma'am. Whatever you want, ma'am. But we want you to know it's really an honor and responsibility for when you come to us for a so called natural solution to common ailments. And I get in a lot of controversy by saying, well, your body's made by God, and it knows what to do. It just needs the tools to work with. So we have developed a what I would call a very ingenious program, but then that would sound like I'm bragging on myself and really and truly Janet's name should be on this book more than me. But we're going to talk a lot about what you should do. And you know, as a chiropractor, I started out with musculoskeletal conditions with all my patients and they would say, and I'd say, well, you need this supplement you need that supplement. So your body can, you know, it's going to decrease the inflammatory cytokines, et cetera, et cetera, and some of them say, but I like tacos, and it's like, yeah, well, you need to do something different or people say, well, I have fibromyalgia, it's like, well, I can teach you to eat differently. So this is we have programs now that we're getting some phenomenal success with because it teaches you how to eat and it's not a book about what not to eat. It's about what a and we make it simple where it's you have the grocery list. It's easy to prepare. And they're actually super delicious. You feel healthy after you eat these things. So we've got a lot to say, sorry, I only had 30 minutes to say it. I was going to say, what is food have to do with pain? Everything. Just asking. Well, if you're in chronic pain and you've tried all these things, including chiropractic care,

And unfortunately, many times these patients suffered from severe hormone...
A large number of Americans experience fatigue and brain fog on a daily basis, and these issues can take a toll on your health and mind over time. There are many potential reasons for the prevalence of fatigue, several of which we will discuss in today's show, Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired?. We'll also give you some guidance on how to support healthy energy levels and detoxification processes with supplements and lifestyle changes. Products Mentioned in Today's Show Ageless Cell Revive - Phospholipids or phosphatides are an integral part of biological membranes, and they tend to decrease as we age. They are critical for cell and mitochondrial membrane shape, repair, and growth. Proper cell membrane function facilitates healthy cell signaling, which is important for energy production, immune function and regulating inflammatory cascades. L-Carnitine - L-carnitine is an amino acid essential for the transport of fatty acids into the cell mitochondria. Research has shown that L-carnitine stimulates the use of fat for fuel and boosts metabolism, which plays a key role in weight management. L-carnitine has also been found to support cardiovascular health and to increase aerobic capacity during exercise. The symptoms of heavy metal toxicity can manifest in many different ways including diarrhea, nausea, chills, etc. Because of the many different symptoms that often mimic other conditions, it can be difficult to determine if you have heavy metal toxicity. Fortunately, there are some steps you can take now that can help support your body's detoxification pathways in filtering out metals and other toxins. Show Notes: 00:00:01 - 00:05:03 Welcome to the green wisdom health podcast, with Doctor Stephen and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now, here are your hosts doctor Stephen and Janet Lewis. Hello and welcome to the green wisdom health show. I'm Janet Lewis. And I'm doctor Lewis. And today we are going to discuss heavy metal toxicity. The name of this show is called symptoms of heavy metal toxicity. Doctor Lewis, can you tell us why you felt the need to discuss heavy metals? He's thinking about why he's discussing heavy metals. It goes back to the 70s in the music, but no, not really. Well, you know, I've talked about being toxic off and on for many, many years, even before we got into this. And I noticed that as I tried to fix people's joint pain, nerve pain, musculoskeletal pain, that if I would put people on something that could displace toxins, heavy metals and others, that their pain would get much, much better. Much more quickly, they could achieve or we could achieve the goals with fewer adjustments and less time. So I think we should always be taking up new trends to help our bodies detox, not just metals, but other things. And the side effect of being cleaner is deep sleep. You know, most of us don't get the deep restorative sleep, which not having good sleep actually helps induce leaky gut, which we've talked about. And that can lead to insulin resistance. So when we talk insulin resistance, we're talking about pre diabetic or diabetic. And it can lack of the sleep can lead to actually autoimmune disorders. We're seeing more and more autoimmune disorders and people say, well, what's chiropractor doing? Talking about, oh, no immune disorders. Well, guess what? That has a lot to do with osteoarthritis, which I've already gotten most of that podcast written for the future about how osteoarthritis can be helped with nutrients as well as the chiropractic adjustments. But to get deep restorative sleep puts you in a better position to detox and heavy metal is a big part of that. You know, I think a lot of people out there don't really realize they're even exposed to heavy metals and they're probably thinking, well, I'm not around any of that. So, I'm not really sure how it pertains to me, but there's good metals like zinc and copper and iron that are beneficial for your health, but there's also some very toxic ones like cadmium, arsenic, chromium, lead mercury, you know, and people are like. Yeah, and where do you get those bad ones from? Is everyone exposed to one or more of those? Absolutely. And people say, I'm not exposed to that. It's like, yeah, you are, you just don't know it. I mean, if you walked into a newly sprayed build and has had pesticides in it, or even new building materials or the outgassing of carpets and those are not necessarily metals, but they can be seen in styrene and Styrofoam cups. There're so many toxins in the world. If you're not exposed to it, one of the polar bears have thyroid problems in osteoporosis. We don't spray anything up there. And we'll probably go over a list today. And I've always said, please don't try to diagnose yourself at all, but if you don't diagnose yourself off this list because of these lists, we may say, well, this is hypothyroidism. Well, it could also be leaky good. It can be chronic fatigue, syndrome. And you know, I had a kid one-time, young man who was not very developed, and you could tell he had some problems. And he brought me a book and says, here, what do you think about it?
Many people have been experiencing long-lasting symptoms after going through an illness. The cause of these lingering symptoms is still unknown, but some people have reported that certain supplements and lifestyle changes have reduced some of their symptoms like fatigue and brain fog. In this week's episode, Supporting Long-Haul Syndrome, we'll discuss some things you can do that may help support your body in dealing with these symptoms. Show Notes: 00:00:01 - 00:05:15 Welcome to the green wisdom health podcast, with doctor Steven and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now, here are your hosts doctor Stephen and Janet Lewis. Hello and welcome to this week's edition of the green wisdom health show. I'm Janet Lewis. And I'm doctor Lewis. And today we are going to discuss a topic you guys keep asking us about that we keep trying to dance around. So we're going to keep dancing, but we're going to give you our best shot at explaining what we do and what's going on. Now that we have your curiosity, you're wondering what it is. I know. But we can't tell you. We have to just kind of talk in code. The name of the show is called treating long, I'm sorry. It's not treating. We're supporting long haul syndrome. So we do not treat that. We just give you things that might help you get over long term chronic sickness. And you'll just have to fill in the blank on what that is. But, you know, many things can help with that sort of thing. And we also have a symptom list of you figuring out if you have these long haul symptoms or the syndrome. So chronic immune system depletion. There you go. So we're going to tell you the things that we do, the things we recommend because we're getting another round of people getting sick and we want to make sure you stay healthy, especially going into this fall, you know, we've got Saharan dust attacking us now and people have a bunch of allergies. And then you have this virus stuff that just seems to be on the loose. So doctor Lewis, I think you should go ahead and explain what we're doing. You know, before we started this, we asked God to help organize my mind. You know if you've listened to me before organization in my mind is pretty much nonexistent and I'm way off the charts today. I've got too much to say and not enough time to get there. So what we're talking about is helping your body boost immune system. I'm a chiropractor, so I always approach you from a musculoskeletal sense. But if you support musculoskeletal, you're supporting all the cells, which are supporting your immune system. So we'll get into that. I wanted to talk about mushrooms and Janet kind of changed that. I'm going to talk about mushrooms anyway. Maybe he's wanting to smoke mushrooms. I'm not sure which one, but we're using them for immune system. Yeah, and I do not treat cancer, God knows you need a hematologist that understands natural stuff too, but when Janet's first said, we talk about mushrooms and she changed her mind. She never changes her mind about me, but everything else may be. There's a lot of cancer books. And again, I don't treat cancer, of course, but mushroom extracts are used sometimes it's mataki, sometimes shiitake, a turkey tail lines made. And the beta glucans that you can get from that. And this is in some of the books that talk about how some people natural doctors treat cancer. And that's certainly not the only thing you should be doing if you have cancer, but other things that are anti proliferative, which means they kind of help keep the cancer and if it works for cancer, it's going to work for immune system. And you people that have chronic fatigue, some of the anti prolific agents are selenium, fish oil, garlic, cat's claw, mataki, diffraction vitamin a, vitamin K, of course, in bovine cartilage, which actually we've been proved our collagen has just come in again. Thank you. But that all might assist the cancer patient in this manner.
Our special guest, Casey, is back this week to discuss the exciting new product Ageless Cell Revive. In this week's episode, Ageless Mind and Increased Energy, Janet, Dr. Lewis and Casey will discuss how the phospholipids in this formulation help support the brain, healthy aging, and energy levels. They will also discuss a few other products and some lifestyle changes you can implement to support healthy aging. Show Transcript 00:00:01 - 00:05:05 Welcome to the green wisdom health podcast, with doctor Steven and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now, here are your hosts doctor Stephen and Janet Lewis. Hello and welcome to this week's edition of the green wisdom health show. I am Janet Lewis. And I'm doctor Lewis. And we have our very special speaker back with us today. Casey, who works with one of our manufacturers to bring you the wonderful products that we currently have. Including the new one that we just started carrying called ageless cell revive. So the name of this show, and he's going to tell us why it works. It's called ageless mind. And increased energy. And those of you that are having the bad side effects of the long-term COVID symptoms, you probably want to listen up to this because this is going to have a lot of information pertaining to that in ways that you can get your energy back, your mind back, get rid of a lot of your fatigue. So doctor Lewis, what would you like to tell us before we add Casey to it? Well, since it's so good for the brain, I would like to ask you, if you can remember to take it, do you really need it? Thanks. Go ahead, guys. Take and run with it. Yeah, thank you for having me again. It's always, it's always a pleasure to be back out in east Texas. Being that you're from. Yeah, exactly. We want to talk about where I'm from. But over Dallas way. But yeah, this is a we gave him his green card to get him into Texas. I'm doctor Lewis approved, hopefully. Yep. But yeah, this is a really exciting new product. There's been a lot of ageless cell revive that is. There's a lot of chatter right now. I would say over the last couple of years around this idea of membrane lipid replacement therapy. And what I mean by that. So what ageless cell revive is is it's a sunflower, lecithin derived phospholipid complex. And why that is so important is that phospholipids are an extremely critical component to all biological membranes. In the body, from the membrane that lines your digestive tract, the membrane that lines your bronchial passages, the membranes that make up the membranes that protect and house your both your cells and then also membrane intermembrane that houses your mitochondria. So and that goes along with the podcast we did earlier about diabetes and metabolic syndrome or syndrome X. The main cause of stroke, for example, is syndrome X, which is the same thing as metabolic syndrome leading to diabetes or type two diabetes. And as chiropractor I was always interested in the demyelination, things that DeMille are like infections, trauma, which is what I took care of as a chiropractor. Inflammation, which specifically diabetes, but any kind of inflammation, lack of thyroid function that you people with low thyroid, it goes further than just checking your thyroid. Nutritional deficiencies and that's where Casey just shines like a brand new penny. Lack of vitamin B and allergies such as gluten. So we're happy to have him here because he kind of has the intelligence and the knowledge to get technical. So I'm just like throw it in like God sorted out. Yeah, so all those things you just mentioned is that like the simpler version of what Casey's saying about the mitochondrial function. Yeah, because Janet told me I get two technical and one case it gets technical. She didn't say anything to him. She just smiled and said, hey, Casey. Well, I invite him to the show because he tells me all of this when we talk and I'm like,
One of the most common issues we see in people today is difficulty maintaining a healthy weight. Weight loss is a hot topic and a booming industry, but so many products just don't work. Unfortunately, there is no magic fix for this, but there is one often overlooked aspect of weight management, and that is insulin. Insulin is an extremely important hormone responsible for regulating several metabolic processes and ensuring cells get the energy they need. Due to this, insulin has a strong influence on weight management. When the body begins to respond less to insulin, it could indicate that you are developing insulin resistance, which can contribute to a variety of health issues. In this week's episode, The Secret Enemy of Weight Loss, we'll discuss insulin's role in metabolism and weight management, as well as some positive lifestyle changes you could make. Transcription The Secret Enemy of Weight Loss 00:00:01 - 00:05:01 Welcome to the green wisdom health podcast, with doctor Steven and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now, here are your hosts doctor Stephen and Janet Lewis. Hello and welcome to this week's edition of the green wisdom health show. I'm Janet Lewis. And I'm doctor Lewis. And we are here to give you some inspiring helpful healthful hope. So in a world full of a lot of chaos, hopefully we're bringing you a lot of joy and information and news you can use. So we today are going to talk a little bit about the secret enemy of weight loss because it's summertime and who's not trying to get into that bikini for the beach. But having a little bit of white problems or a lot of weight problems and we're going to talk about what that secret and me is, doctor Lewis has got him captured over here behind the door and he's going to let him loose a little bit and tell us what the enemy has been. He's good at corralling things. So also, we want to mention our collagen people have been asking a lot about when is collagen coming back in. We do not know. The ingredient in there that's a registered trademark called mobily, which is one of the several ingredients in that product that make it work wonderfully and that is the reason why it is so missed, we can not get from the manufacturer because it's trapped in Spain. It is rooster comb. I guess they have special roosters there. I don't know, but they're organic. They're organic rooster combs. Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid can heal in big ways. So I won't go into too many stories there, but it's not here. So that's the bottom line. We don't know what it's coming. People ask if we have a replacement. Not yet. We're waiting for the person that makes that product for us to tell us what they're going to do. They have very high standards. And they don't want to take something out that they may get in. I don't know. If we do it, you're going to know it and we're going to tell you, hey, it didn't come in with this. I don't know what we're going to do. So for the time being that's out and people say, well, what brand should I take? We don't know. I know that they have designs for help, has a pretty good one. I just haven't gotten any kind of feedback from anybody that's just had miraculous results with collagen other than the powdered one we carry. So sorry about that. You know how it is nowadays, so hopefully that's the only product that's doesn't come in for a while, but you know, there could be others. So anyway, doctor Lewis picked this subject today because he is passionate about helping people regain their health and would you like to let the enemy out of the closet you're keeping him in and tell us who the secret enemy of weight loss is. Well, I've had so many people talk bad about me because I'm so blunt and it's like, well you made a sugar coat it and the answer to that is most people would rather have it sugar coated. The active, the real enemy is insulin and I will get into that. I promise you in big ways.

I call this the Hashimoto's connection. How did you get involved in chiropractic care and in functional medicine? You know, I was asked that question on a very large podcast one time and I started crying because I saw my daddy died when I was 15 years old. Maybe from ulcerative colitis, but maybe from the drugs they gave him for that. And I knew right then at 15, I was smarter than that. I developed ulcerative colitis whether it was physical or psychological, whatever. And I went to 5 different MDs. I had 5 different diagnoses and 5 different treatments, not one of them that worked. And I love her MDH. Don't misunderstand me. They did a lot of really good things, but so I pursued chiropractic and we look at things in a musculoskeletal arena and I figured that what I thought through some good nutrients, notice I said good. That even if it's four musculoskeletal things, other things got better. Well, if it's turmeric, will it help their brain to help their cognitive factors that help their eyesight and help decrease inflammation? I did it people do things for two reasons. You make a decision to do something because you're moving away from pain. Are you making a decision to do something because you're moving toward pleasure? And the story about my daddy died leaving 5 kids at home and a moth...
Many experts believe that a healthy gut is the foundation for overall health, and that keeping your digestive system healthy should be a priority. However, maintaining a healthy gut can be more difficult than it seems due to the toxins we encounter every day. There are many things that can disrupt the delicate balance in your gut, and an imbalanced gut can have many different symptoms. Some of the most common symptoms of poor gut health can include food sensitivities, bloating, poor digestion, and much more. Podcast Transcription Is Your Gut Healthy? How to Tell 00:00:01 - 00:05:09 Welcome to the green wisdom health podcast, with doctor Steven and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now, here are your hosts doctor Stephen and Janet Lewis. Hello and welcome to this week's edition of the green wisdom health show. I'm Janet Lewis. And I'm doctor Lewis. And today we are going to talk to you about your gut, which is one of my favorite subjects. It seems everything goes back to it. The name of this show is called is your gut, healthy, and how to tell. And then toward the end of the show, we're going to tell you a very exciting story about one of our patients and his journey with us. So hang on tight, we got a lot to cover. But we wanted to get started with gut health because immune system is out of the gut and people don't understand that. And I'm hoping doctor Lewis will explain to us how that's possible and why it is compromised and what we can do about it. So doctor Lewis, would you tell us what you want us to know about is your gut healthy? Yeah, the quick answer is no it's not. It's just how unhealthy is it. The reason I pretty much say everybody has a gut problem is because we have horrible food. It's not nutrient dense. And yes, food is important, but it's not complete. So the presence of glyphosate and all these chemicals they put on it. One of the things that messes with gut health and causes leaky gut, and I'll get into those symptoms in a minute. Is the presence of gluten, but gluten's not the only bad protein that's in wheat and barley and hops and rye. What is happening is we fertilize our crops with NPK. The plants say, oh my God, I've got this burst of energy. And since I have this, it's like we're feeding our food fast food when we're feeding it NPK. And it grows at an accelerated rate, and it says, oh, I've got to put it out in protein, and people think protein is a good thing. Well, that protein is gluten and other bad proteins. And we have four to 40 times more gluten in our food. In our wheat, especially, than we did just a few short decades ago. Gluten is not a good thing, and we test people. It's like, oh my God, no wonder you can't get well. You got to cut this out. And it's just a varying degrees, but we're seeing more and more of it. Nailed, then we saw, say, 20 years ago, autoimmunity is getting to be it's definitely on the rise in that starts into gut, even if the autoimmune disease is Hashimoto's or Socrates or rheumatoid arthritis. So the excess gluten and glutenin and all kinds of other things. When it causes a leaky gut syndrome, what it really causes is what we say, microbial dysbiosis, which means you don't have the right kind of bacteria yeast and fungus in your guts or the rat ratio. Things that cause leaky gut, we talked about gluten. That's the main thing. Medications, people that do NSAIDs forever, and I just talked to real sweet men. It says, well, I've done all the acid reducers for many, many, many years. Well, that's covering up the problem, but not really fixing it.
Thyroid issues are one of the most common health issues in America, and it can have many different symptoms. One of the most common symptoms of a thyroid imbalance is poor weight management. In this week's episode, Dr. Lewis will discuss the thyroid's connection to weight loss and offer some tips on how you can help support your thyroid. Show Transcription 00:00:01 - 00:05:06 Welcome to the green wisdom health podcast, with doctor Steven and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now, here are your hosts doctor Stephen and Janet Lewis. Hello and welcome to this week's edition of the green wisdom health show. I'm Janet Lewis. And I'm doctor Lewis. And we are here to help you with all of your weight loss and thyroid questions I know that you have. This week's episode is called the thyroid connection to weight loss because many of you out there are struggling with weight loss and it is the season for bikinis. So we want to make sure that we're able to get into those and look really good. So we're going to tell you today some shortcuts or maybe some long cuts to getting that body back the way you want it to be and what the thyroid has to do with it because we all know that thyroid's got everything to do with weight loss, doesn't it, doctor Lewis? I don't know about everything, but it's certainly a huge, huge player there. So what is it you would like for us to learn today about thyroid? What does it got to do with you losing weight? Well, first of all, it usually is the thyroid and the statistics vary depending on the book you read or the research or the doctor you talk to, but I'd say about two out of three or three out of four people. That we do are low cost lab work on probably three, four, 7 have a suboptimal thyroid. Well, wait a minute. When you say low cost lab work, why do you run lab work? I mean, don't the doctor do it. I mean, haven't they been told they're okay? Why do you do that? I'm just asking. Okay. Asking for a friend. Well, you know, I love the whole profession, the medical profession and chiropractic may be in a chiropractor. Of course, I look at it more holistically, structure function, nerf supply. But let me just tell you a story. There's this really wonderful medical doctor that came in. He wanted to talk to us and Janet and I was off gallivanting around the country like we do a lot in the RV. And Janet, my sweet darling a little wife says, I do not want to talk to this MD. I said, I'll talk to him. He's an ass guy. I've never met an MD that wasn't a nice person and have good intentions. And so he came in, he was a real quiet shy, soft spoken, very, very nice man. He says, you're getting our patients well, and we don't understand how you're doing it. And I said, well, God's a lot smarter than you and me. And we're trying to help people. We're just doing it differently. I just throw in nutrients that your body uses for the greater good. And he says, okay. And so I asked Janet to go get this particular lab. Once she got here, my sweet wife said she didn't want to talk to the sim day, but I said, now you're here, what do you tell the stock for about thyroid? And she gave me the look. I have no idea what the look is. You eyes out there, have no idea what the look is. In any way, this light he had a three point something on her TSH. And that's what most people run TSH, which is not thyroid. That is the thyroid stimulating hormone. It comes out of the pituitary in the brain. And it was a three. And the range goes up to 4.5 in Janice says, what would you do with this person? He says nothing. She's my patient, too. I don't do anything. It's well within the range it's normal. And I'm thinking it's not normal, it's common. There is a difference. And Janet says, well, if it doesn't go down around 1.5, that means the brain is putting out the signal and the thyroid's not using it. And she will be overweight. Can't lose weight and be thyroid crazy. And he said,
Have you been struggling to think clearly, or found it difficult to complete the tasks on your to-do list? Low energy and brain fog are issues we see often, and they can have many different causes. Since there are so many potential causes, there are also many potential solutions. In this week's episode, Brain Fog, Low Energy, Motivation?, we'll discuss some of the possible causes like food sensitivities, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, thyroid issues, and much more. Dr. Stephen E. Lewis, D.C. and Janet Lewis will also go over some potential solutions to these issues and how to implement some lifestyle changes. Show Transcription 00:00:01 - 00:05:02 Welcome to the green wisdom health podcast, with doctor Steven and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now, here are your hosts doctor Stephen and Janet Lewis. Hello and welcome to this week's edition of the green wisdom health show. I'm Janet Lewis. And I'm doctor Lewis. And today we are going to give you energy and hope you remember it. The name of this show is called brain fog, low energy, motivation. So if you need it or have it, we're going to we're going to help you find it. Anyway, so welcome to this week's show. We've had a lot of people telling us they are experiencing brain fog for various reasons, having trouble remembering having trouble staying motivated, very low energy. And doctor Lewis thought it might be a good idea to do a show about things or items that you could take, some things that might be, causing it, what brain fog actually is. If you're wondering if you have it. So doctor Lewis, welcome. And tell us what's going on. You know, one of the first things Janet asked when we were ready to come in and do this, do you have your notes? I said, yeah, she said, I'm not saying you're not, so I said, I can shoot from the hip I'm fine. My wife has such a great faith in me. Thank God. And that's why I can't stay on the same rabbit trail. What's one got to do with the other got to do with all go together, I always tried the musculoskeletal and I found out well, people's blood pressure got better. My God, their brain fog went away. Oh my God, they got energy. Well, that's not just muscles and bones and nerves, folks. That's everything in your body. So what do you want to talk about? Let me go down a rabbit trail that weren't she didn't even know. I generally don't know. I was one of her best choices, however. You just go down whatever trail you're going. Well, you know, some people talk about, well, my doctor put me on cows at me, it's like, no, you don't want calcium all by itself. And excess calcium. And I'm getting to that you need the right proportion of magnesium and vitamin K and there's plenty of studies that support this that says, if you don't have enough vitamin K, you can't shunt the calcium back where it's supposed to do. So one of the issues with too much calcium is aging all sounds colon, cancer, crowns, which that's a lot of other things too. Coronary artery disease. I really appreciate the fact that some of my patients have listened to me and gone to their cardiologist and got a coronary calcium scan. Kidney stones, dental plaque, ovarian cysts, hypothyroidism, cataract glaucoma, obesity and diabetes as well. Don't just take calcium, please ask somebody that's an expert and I don't mean doctor Google either. You need to find out what goes with calcium. And well, it's magnesium, but it's phosphorus and did you know that bone health has to do with the bone is like 50% protein. Yeah. So you've got to get enough K one. And if you can de plaque some of these little bit of arteries in the heart, brain, whatever, then you get better blood flow in better nutrition, plus the ability to drag out the toxins. Which gives you what, more energy and better cognitive function. I have to pause to say, what was I going to say? Cognitive function, thinking of the brain. Janet gave me the look like she knew us baking ...
Many people want to lose weight, and they have often tried diet and lifestyle changes with little results. While there can be several contributing factors to this like hormone imbalances, mold exposure, and imbalanced thyroid function, one of the lesser-known influences is your toxic burden. Toxic burden refers to the cumulative exposure you have had to different toxins from air, water, food, cosmetic products, etc. Many of these toxins build-up in the body and can have lasting effects, affecting many different parts of the body in different ways. Fortunately there are things you can do to help avoid toxins in the future, reduce your current toxin burden and speed up detoxification. In this week's episode, Is Your Toxic Burden Stopping Weight Loss?, we will discuss some symptoms of a high toxic burden, and give you some solutions to help your body detox. Show Transcription Is Your Toxic Burden Stopping Weight Loss? 00:00:01 - 00:05:04 Welcome to the green wisdom health podcast, with doctor Steven and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now, here are your hosts doctor Stephen and Janet Lewis. Hello and welcome to this week's edition of the green wisdom health show. I'm Janet Lewis. And I'm doctor Lewis. And today we are going to discuss with our one of our favorite guests that we have come in from time to time, Casey. Apparently it's one of your favorites too. So thank you for the feedback. Yeah, I know he is good. We learned so much and people are really understanding differences in products because of him. But today he's going to talk with us about is your toxic burden stopping your weight loss and you're probably going, what's toxic burden? Well, many people are very burdened with so many toxins and then they go and try to lose weight and their bodies going, oh please. I can't do this. So he's going to discuss why that could be happening. Of course, doctor Lewis is going to chime in with his isms. And hopefully he's how this together for you with a lot of fun. So Casey, welcome. Thank you. Always, always a pleasure to be here. You know, we learned so much about fish all the last time and I can't tell you the collagen story has really helped so many people. It walk into the store. They're like, I take collagen. What makes yours different? I'm like, I know this, I know this was a Casey. That was a huge differentiators that are ultimately going to affect how people feel taking their products. I actually had a lady that came in and said, I'm taking this I'm already on college, 'cause she had knee pain really bad and I said, this is different. She goes, well, why? Collagen's collagen and I explained to her no it was not. So she purchased it and then she came in two days later. I wasn't here in a brandy said, she actually walked up to me and said, does this stuff really work? And Brandi said, yes, it works. And she goes, my knee pain is totally gone. And I thought it might be in my head and so yeah, you were absolutely wrong. I also believe in her collagen. Yeah, exactly. So today we're going to discuss a few products that help with eliminating toxins, I guess. And can help with weight loss and the differences between them. Which one do you want to start with? Well, I think first we should kind of paint the picture of what when you mentioned toxic burden and weight loss and potentially thwarting somebody's efforts to lose weight, what that actually means. A good picture to have in your head is, I mean, we all have a toxic burden. Our environment is very toxic, our body produces toxins that I say that toxins, there's byproducts of processes in the body that the body needs to get rid of. These things accumulate in the body, specifically they accumulate in fat. So if you take a, let's just say a 200 pound frame. And you want to shrink that frame down to a 150 pounds. And you start losing weight and you're feeling great, weight's coming off.
Low energy and difficulty losing weight are common issues that most Americans struggle with. In some cases, the cause can be a simple nutritional deficiency or an unknown food sensitivity, but it can be difficult to pinpoint the cause. In this week's episode, we'll discuss how to help rev up your metabolism through supplementation and lifestyle changes. We'll also go over some of Dr. Lewis' favorite supplements to help support energy levels and detoxification. Show Transcription Welcome to the green wisdom health podcast, with Dr Stephen and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now, here are your hosts doctor Stephen and Janet Lewis. Hello and welcome to this week's edition of the green wisdom health show. I'm Janet Lewis. And I'm doctor Lewis. And we are going to help you rev up your metabolism this week because who doesn't need energy, weight loss, just all around feeling better. And especially now we're coming into the spring. It's time to get cleaned up and get moving, right, doctor Lewis. If you can get me up moving, yes, ma'am. He's coming along. And he's developed these fine ideas here of how to do this because he has, he does this himself. Because all of us from time to time experience tiredness and fatigue and coming out of the winter, it seems worse for some reason because we've just been sitting on the couch. A lot. And it's time to get rid of a lot of that stuff. It's time to shed it, right? Doctor Lewis. Shared is a good word, yes. Yes, okay. So we're going to help you with tiredness fatigue, drug to lose weight, cold, hands and feet, thinning hair, Lola libido. This depresses me reading it. Irregular periods for women poor slate. For me, I've heard PMS belongs to me and also. Bloating and constipation and more. It's not like an OE hall song. I know. So we want to figure out what's going on. Get to the root of it and get you feeling better and have a life worth living. So doctor Lewis, what do you want to talk about today as far as that is concerned? Well, we can talk about BMR. Who? BMR. BMR. Yeah, that's not a big fan revolver, but what is a BMR? It's called basal metabolic metabolic rate. If I can pronounce it correctly. So tell us about it. Energy sometimes seems to be not enough of it. It seems to be running and hiding from us. For example, the BMR is you've got to understand most of your energy is about 50% of it or so is used for the nervous system itself. 27% or so, I think she used for the liver, which is about synthesizing glucose and ketone ketone bodies as fuel for the brain itself. Women usually yeah, I'm going to get hate mail on this one. Women usually have 5 to 10% lower being BMR compared to men and part of that is because when the typical woman has 25% body fat while the typical male has 15% and fat cells in your body for the most part produces no energy at all. Lose weight, people, people want to lose weight, but they're always looking for the magic peel. There's not any magic eat, half as much, eat good stuff and eat half as much of it. And I had a sweet lady from Houston come up the other night. She said, but you promised me. I said, I don't know what I promised you, but I know what you're eating and it's not going to work. We should have called this show the magic bullet, right? Yeah, her silver bullet. You're a product of your choices, and that kind of irks a lot of people. It's like, well, I didn't choose this. And I said, yeah, but you've made a thousand little bitty choices. That did, you know, I mean, for example, the volume of water, let's just say, is one, but when you crank it up 1°. From 211° to 212 expands 1700 times. So sometimes you just have to crank it up a little bit to get things going. Sleep decreases BMR by 10%. And Janet, I'm sure I won't get into some of her notes because I know she's got notes and sometimes we do funny things like we don't compare each other's notes just to see who can stump who.
Difficulty losing weight is one of the most common issues plaguing the U.S. There are many things that influence weight such as diet, activity level, hormones, genetics, food sensitivities, environment, and much more.
