In this episode of the Great Trials Podcast, hosts Steve Lowry and Yvonne Godfrey discuss the case of Ramirez v. Avalon Mobile Home Park with guests Tony DelCampo, Randy Grayson, and Dax Lopez from DGL Attorneys At Law. Remember to rate and review GTP on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or your favorite platform. --- Case Details: "After a one-week trial, a jury returned a verdict of $31 million for the wrongful death of Israel Ramirez. Mr. Ramirez was living with his sister and brother-in-law at Avalon Mobile Home Park. Avalon had experienced multiple crimes in the years before Israel's death. While home from work for lunch, Israel and his sister saw a thief stealing his car from his home. Israel reacted quickly and confronted the thief, who shot and killed him. Avalon failed to have reasonable security in place to protect its residents from foreseeable crimes. At trial, Avalon tried to blame Israel for his own death, claiming he should not have reacted to the theft of his vehicle. The defense claimed Israel acted unreasonably for defending his property. Our firm introduced evidence that the husband of Avalon's property manager had left his own home to confront trespassers with a loaded gun on a previous occasion, contrasting the defense's blaming Israel while celebrating a different resident who survived a similar encounter. After hearing from Israel's family members, including his children, the jury determined the value of his lost life, pain and suffering and awarded $31 million against Avalon Mobile Home Park." Adding a personal touch, we share our appreciation for Erath Pinot Noir from Oregon's Willamette Valley and discuss our preferences in tequila and mezcal, making for a well-rounded and engaging discussion. The spotlight then shifts to the booming e-bike market, charting its rise from niche interest to mainstream adoption. We explore the role of independent bike dealers and major retailers like Best Buy and Walmart in this burgeoning sector. US stocks eased in afternoon trade, with earnings pending after the closing bell from Apple, Alphabet and Amazon. The Nasdaq was up more than 2% when the final hour of the session began, after rising 3.5% earlier in the day. The Nasdaq's rally was boosted by Meta Platforms, which was 22% higher by 3pm after the company announced its plans to buy US$40 billion worth of its own shares. At DGL's current share price of $1.49, this implies 34.2% share price growth in a year. And Trading Central have identified a bullish signal in IDP Education (ASX:IEL), indicating that the stock price may rise from the close of $31.80 to the range of $36.25 to $37.25 over 26 days, according to the standard principles of technical analysis.

ASX 200 fought back to close down only 5 points at 7142 (0.1%). Once again it was the tale of two sectors. Resources on the nose after some good rises, lithium stocks depressed as Goldman Sachs issued another sell note citing oversupply from 2025. CXO, PLS and AKE whacked hard with second liners also in the seller's sights. Stop losses and profit taking also at play. Base metals eased too with OZL down 1.0% and S32 off 1.1%. Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Richard: Hi Dr. Cabral, I have recently been looking for a new blender and it seems like much to my surprise, all the descent premium or high end blenders have a plastic jar. After some time of doing research I had decided on purchasing the ninja but then found out that the jar of this particular blender is plastic. This is really concerning to me because it's something that I use everyday and I don't want to be ingesting chemicals from the plastic. I know a lot of these blenders claim that the plastic is BPA free but from what I understand, when BPA is not used they use other chemicals that are just as bad if not worse than BPAs. I also mix in hot water for my morning smoothies to warm them up a bit since I use a lot of frozen fruits so that would make things more problematic. I also use hot water to clean the blender since sometimes there are stains I need to remove. Is this a legitimate concern or am I missing something here? I would love to hear your thoughts on this and some potential alternatives. Thank you for all your help, it is much appreciated! Kristen: Hello! I've learned and been helped so much through you! After a “virus” my chest feels so much pressure, I went to a cardio dr and all checks out. I do have MTHFR I read that “ Homozygous variants, and some heterozygotes, may see a decrease in the metabolic pathway that converts folate and folic acid (vitamin Bs) into active forms. There can be a build up of homocysteine (amino acid) which has been linked to cardiovascular issues. ” I'm trying to turn over every leaf to get to the bottom of the random pressure when I lay down. Is It possible they are related or is there a connection with either one of these issues. I've done 5 protocols in over a year with significant improvement! To which I'm soo grateful to you and your staff! Darren: Good day Dr Cabral. I see un ayurveda, they extol the benefits of ghee. I use it but recently started looking at the nutrition facts label and all the grass fed New Zealand based ghee brands I have seen say they contain some trans fat. Is pure grass-fed ghee of transfat concern? ? If ghee has trans-fat, why is ghee called healthy? Or is it a misperception given New Zealand is often touted as favoured by nature when making milk, with a climate, soils, and plentiful water that generate an ideal environment for growing healthy grass and New Zealand livestock access open pasture year-round, meaning space to roam and follow their natural affinity outdoors. Care to make us understand? Thank you Lori: Hi, I am considering enrolling in your certification program. I am wondering, however, how to utilize it to practice legally in IL and many other states where it seems only an RD or CNS are allowed to make nutritional recommendations to clients. Thank you! ~Lori Hazel: Im at a loss for breakfast I have high oxalates, a latex alergy and spontaneous uticaria/ dermatographia. I am following your mediteranean diet Many thanks. I listen to all your podcasts Cody: Hi Dr. Cabral - I get acid reflux, mild diarrhea, and intestinal pain on my left side when I eat mildly spicy or citrus foods. I was curious if I had H Pylori, and I did a stool test and upper endoscopy which both came back negative. I also did an organic acid test which showed high levels of yeast. Before I start the CBO protocol, I decided to try some supplements targeted towards H Pylori just in case due to my symptoms. I've been taking Manuka honey, 1/2 cup cabbage juice, and L. Reuteri. I was fine for 2 weeks, but I'm now starting to get intestinal pain on my left side. I was planning to add mastic gum, but I've put that on hold now. Would you recommend stopping the H Pylori supplements and starting the CBO protocol? Compared to the CBO protocol, I've taken much less potent antimicrobials/antifungals in the past which started out fine but then gradually gave me intestinal pain. This is what led me to trying a treatment targeted towards H Pylori, which testing says I don't have, in the hope that it would allow me to tolerate the CBO protocol better, but I'm already having pain which I suspect is from the strength of the Manuka honey. In addition, zinc supplements give me intestinal pain, but I also take DGL licorice which is fine. Thank you for your time and advice. B2B marketers can learn a lot from the direct-to-consumer industry. For one, there is no sales team in DTC. That means marketing has to get a person from awareness, all the way through the checkout process with no outbound sales to help carry the weight. Because of that, DTC marketing strategy is inherently different. Today, we welcome back DGL legend Gaetano DiNardi, a former B2B marketer who transitioned to B2C marketing at Aura - a digital security company that helps consumers stay safe online. A KiwiSaver fund has blacklisted a chemical company over its chief executive's alleged racist and sexist comments about celebrity chef and My Food Bag Founder, Nadia Lim. In an interview with NBR, the rich lister boss of DGL, Simon Henry described Ms Lim as a "little bit of Eurasian fluff " and claimed she was showing cleavage in the company prospectus to sell shares. Investment organisation Kiwi Wealth has a responded by adding DGL to its exclusion list. Its CEO Rhiannon McKinnon talks to Lisa Owen.
You know by now I'm not one to join aboard the cancel culture train when someone says something deemed out of line, but I think that businessman Simon Henry would be wise to apologise for what he said about Nadia Lim.I'm saying this not because I've taken offence at it, but because he's wrong and because he risks wearing personal and business damage unless here he kills this off as a media story as soon as possible.Just in case you haven't heard this, what he said during an interview with NBR was this: “I can tell you, and you can quote me, when you've got Nadia Lim, when you've got a little bit of Eurasian fluff in the middle of your prospectus with a blouse unbuttoned showing some cleavage, and that's what it takes to sell your scrip, then you know you're in trouble.”If you read the context of the article, he was trying to compare his business' recent IPO with My Food Bag's recent IPO.His IPO did really well. Shares that were worth AUD $1 at float are now worth near AUD $3.80.My Food Bag's IPO did not do as well. Shares that were worth $1.85 at float fell immediately, never recovered, and are now worth less than half of that at 89 cents.Simon Henry accuses My Food Bag of attracting investors by selling on Nadia Lim's appeal. If he is trying to suggest that there are naïve mum and dad investors out there who invest in shares because they recognise the brand and they like the brand and they like the person associated with the brand rather than because they actually understand the fundamentals of the business, than he's right. That does happen. That happens a lot lately, especially in the Sharesies age.But he's wrong to suggest that it's got anything to do with Nadia's cleavage and ethnicity and sensuality. There's not even that any cleavage in the photo that he's talking about and there's certainly nothing in that top to unbutton. Now there's every chance that Simon Henry could weather this storm. He's obviously great at the core part of his job. One equity analyst told media that Henry's one of the best CEO's he's met. DGL's share value is pretty much largely unchanged since the story printed. But already a KiwiSaver fund has added his business to the list of businesses it will not invest in anymore.Commentators are universally outraged by what he said and My Food Bag co-founder Cecilia Robinson is pressuring his board to take action and pressuring investors to reconsider whether this lines up with their principles. Now he can decide whether he wants this to carry on or not.If I was him, I would just rip the bandage off, stem any possible damage by simply getting it over and done with and saying that he's sorry.
There's a bit of uproar over some comments by an NZ business leader... CEO of DGL group Simon Henry. Henry was interviewed by the NBR and was disparaging about My Food Bag's IPO last year when he said this: "I can tell you, and you can quote me, when you've got Nadia Lim, when you've got a little bit of Eurasian fluff in the middle of your prospectus with a blouse unbuttoned showing some cleavage, and that's what it takes to sell your script, then you know you're in trouble." Cecilia Robinson, co-founder of My Food Bag, joined Heather du Plessis-Allan. LISTEN ABOVE

Heartburn, indigestion, and GERD plague many people, and these conditions can have several causes. One of the most common causes is poor digestion. Fortunately, there are many things you can do to help support digestion like testing for food sensitivities, taking digestive enzymes with each meal, cutting out gluten, etc. In this week's show, we'll discuss how to end heartburn and GERD the natural way through the use of supplements and diet changes. Products Mentioned in Today's Show: Digest Ease - Digest Ease is a cinnamon flavored chewable tablet containing DGL (deglycyrrhizinated licorice root and rhizome extract) and mastic gum to support healthy digestion and gastrointestinal function.† This product may help alleviate gastrointestinal discomfort associated with occasional indigestion.† SBI Spore - Bacillus spores remain dormant in harsh environments until they reach more favorable environments like the human gastrointestinal tract. The combination of specific strains, particularly Bacillus coagulans, Bacillus clausii, and Bacillus subtilis, may help relieve symptoms for common GI complaints and reinforce healthy gut function. Probio 100 - Probio 100 is a high-dose probiotic delivering 100 billion active cultures for cases of gastrointestinal and immune distress. You can also listen to End Heartburn and GERD the Natural Way on our YouTube channel here.

With each day that passes we learn more about the importance of our gut health in relation to our overall health and well being. Our GI system is directly correlated to many systems in our body. When this is off it throws everything off leading to hormone disturbances, anxiety, depression, brain fog, skin conditions, food allergies and obviously lots of GI upset. Our gut has influence on nearly every system in our body to the list of symptoms goes on and on. In Functional medicine we use the 5 R system to heal and repair the gut. Remove, Replace , Reinoculate, Repair and Rebalance. Remove :Includes removing foods and medications that may be irritating to the GI tract. The biggest culprits I see for intestinal inflammation are gluten, dairy and sugar . Other irritants include caffeine , alcohol, NSAIDS, antibiotics, antifungals, and Anti acids just to name a few. Start with eliminating these foods for several weeks, when you add them back watch for symptoms!Pathogens: If you are thinking you may have a bacterial or yeast overgrowth get tested, don't just try to treat it if you don't know what you are dealing with. Replace:Add back in the essential nutrients needed for proper break down and absorption of food such as digestive enzymes, hydrochloric acid and bile acids. Ill talk about ways you can do this naturally and when to use supplementation. Reinoculate:Restore beneficial bacteria by taking in prebiotic and probiotic foods or supplements that contain “good” bacteria. Prebiotic's feed good bacteria and can be supplemented by consuming high soluble fiber foods like oats, dandelion root, chicory, banana, onions and garlic. Ill discuss probiotics and how to get them from foods and when to supplementsRepair- When the GI tract is in a diseased state it lacks key nutrients that help repair its lining . By supplying these nutrients we can help the lining repair itself . My favorite supplement for this is L-Glutamine. Aloe,DGL and marshmallow root can all help soothe the mucosal lining for individuals with a lot of irritation . Vitamins A,C and E and zinc all help repair the intestinal lining. Lastly collagen which is rich in amino acids can help further seal the intestines, repair damage, and build new tissue.Rebalance:This one is such a big topic that i didn't not even get into it in this episode. This includes paying attention to your lifestyle habits. Stress, sleep , and excessive exercise can all negatively impact your GI tract. Stay tuned for future episodes where we will get into self care ,stress and how you can evaluate the things in your life that may be adding unwanted stressors to your system Here are the products I love to start on your healing journey!
