Ad Induced Twitch Amazon is considering making some changes to its Twitch tiers and their payout to streamers With some models not having changed in almost 10 years, pay cuts could be reduced by as much as 20% at the top tier Possibly the biggest change to come with these considerations is.. Ads!! Yes, who's surprised?? Ads everywhere! It's been noted that creators who stream for at least 40 hours a month can receive up to $100 just by running 2 mins/hr of ads. This amount obviously goes up with ad minutes. However, this new proposal would introduce a revenue sharing “arrangement” which would be more “lucrative” for streamers. A final interesting note to these changes is that Twitch would consider releasing anyone from their exclusivity deals, who may be a part of one. A Dead Hard in the right direction Behavior Interactive has officially announced that David King is their first gay character in DBD In a tweet today Behavior acknowledged the lack of LGBTQIA2+ from the character roster and have been working to change that Behavior has been working closely with the GaymerX organization, whose expertise is in integrating LGBTQIA2+ themes into video games David is was released in the Lullaby for the Dark chapter in July of 2017 and is one of DBD's 10 most popular characters There's room in the clouds More than 10 million people have streamed games over Xbox Cloud Gaming, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said Tuesday during the company's third-quarter earnings call It is however currently unclear as what Microsoft is defining as a streamed game (current subscribers, streamed game time, ect) As a side note you can subscribe for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for just a dollar and then cancel so as stated it's still unclear if people who did that are counted in the numbers The cloud gaming feature is available on the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier for 14.99 a month --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/saved-state-heros/support
Let Mom Sleep! Sega has started working on reboots of Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio In the company's annual earnings report for the year ending March 2021, it named Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi as “examples of past IP” it wanted to utilize through reboots, remasters, and remakes. Other games were mentioned such as Street Of Rage, Panzer Dragon, and Rez Sega exec Shuji Utsami also hinted at building triple AAA multiplatform titles with global releases Crazy Taxi is set to be released in 2024 - 2025. No time frame for JSR Say goodbye and Don't Tera Up Gameforge and Bluehole will be shutting down Tera (On PC) on June 30th An official announcement on the Tera Steam page states it is ending PC support to “focus internal development efforts on other projects” This however leaves the question what does this mean for console players? There currently is no answer to this Gameforge says the Tera websites and social media pages will be going away as well. But Gameforge accounts will be safe What could this mean? F2P, P2W, P2E?!? Oh, just Sony Are you a fan of F2P games? I think we all are to an extent! Well, Sony is going to dampen that by putting ads in F2P games.. That's right. Some Sony F2P games will no longer just be an argument of grinding more versus paying to win Sony plans to bring ads into F2P games running on Playstation platforms only, so far, late 2022 They are making a system available to game devs to “help them further monetize their games.” The system will incorporate ads via in-game “billboards” and other entities. This advertising method will not be forced, but encouraged to F2P developers. The ads will be built-in at the platform level of this new system. This means easier integration for rewarding players for interacting with ads (skins, items, currency). They way ads are incorporated are up to the devs, but Sony supplies them. Allegedly, Sony is still contemplating taking a cut from advertising gains in this manner. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/saved-state-heros/support
My Chemical Haptics Heat and cold (among other sensations) could be coming to VR sooner than we think Thanks to a team of scientists at the University of Chicago, feeling what your character feels may not be just another VR fantasy. Currently to fully immerse yourself in VR you would need to own devices such as VR body kits or haptic treadmills but thanks to the team (Jasmine Lu, Ziwei Liu, Jas Brooks, and Pedro Lopes ) chemical haptics might soon be a reality. Two devices lined with soft silicone will deliver chemicals via the skin to the person wearing them. One on the bridge of the nose and the other across the forearm. No we can feel how cold Sub Zero really is A Scalar and a Gentleman Ubisoft revealed a new cloud-based technology at GDC this past weekend to expand its games The game developer/publisher said that this new tech named “Scalar” would allow it's teams to create even bigger worlds Scalar would be supported across multiple platforms, will work with various components of already existing ubisoft game engines, and would be able to update games and content without the need for specific platform patches Ubisoft says their Scalar tech isn't actually for streaming games to players, like Stadia or Luna, but for devs I think we can all say I embrace and dread this Metaverse Royale This week, Sony and Kirkbi (The money behind The Lego Group) announced that they have both donated $1B EACH to Epic to more broadly develop metaverse content. This overshadows Lego's previous $250M partnership with Epic to develop more child friendly content This unity has stated that they are going to “create new social entertainment exploring the connection between digital and physical worlds.” There were statements from all sides praising Epic's expertise and game engine, the use of Sony's technologies and focusing on trends that will “impact the future world that we and our children will live in.” The future mentioned here, of course, is the metaverse --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/saved-state-heros/support

ARM Amputation Even since the final “cut” was made in the Softbank/NVidia deal last month, ARM is having to make some severances Due to the $40B acquisition's fall-through, ARM is cutting between 12-15% of its workforce to become one ARM. Yes puns, but those are their words. With a global workforce of ~6,500, most of the cuts will be taking place in the US and UK to reduce costs and remove duplication in their work Hopefully ARM's new focus will boost the semiconductor tech in a new, beneficial direction for us all RTX.. ASUS A quick quip on GPU prices, which seem to be a big topic here at SSH ASUS is slashing their GPU prices on RTX 30-series by up to 25% in Australia thanks to declining demand Although it doesn't help us much here in the U.S., this seems to be following a slightly lesser global decline in prices due to production gradually ramping up, bitcoin mining falling (not going into that here), and gamers, as usual, holding off from committing while prices are high. Prices are still up 41% over RRP, but the future is looking better than it has for some time! Intel Inside.. Everything Intel's previously veiled Project Endgame has had some light shed on it. To keep it quick, we'll just drop one, fat quote and move on "Project Endgame is a unified services layer that harnesses computing resources everywhere – cloud, edge, and your home, to improve your gaming, and non-gaming, PC experiences. With Project Endgame, we can untether our users from their local hardware specs. Project Endgame is paving the roads for the next decade of real-time GPU experiences for Intel, with the goal of petaflops of compute accessible at a few millisecond latency, and starting in Q2 of this year we will take our first public steps." Yes. Their GPUs were just their foot into our wallets.. And the cloud market Since Mando Loves Hideo Kajima.. Vati Baer We've previously talked about the father of the video game cartridge here on SSH, but yesterday marked the would-be 100th birthday of the overall ‘vater' of video games, Ralph Baer While we won't go into an extensive history lesson, German born Ralph came to the US as a teenager and joined the National Radio Institute. Shortly after he was drafted to fight in WW2, serving for military intelligence. After surviving the war and gaining a degree in radio engineering, Baer went on to develop the first video game console, the Magnavox Odyssey. This machine is largely credited for inspiring Atari's ‘Pong' He donated many of his plans and prototypes to the Smithsonian in 2006 before passing away in 2014 A Call to Duty If you look at anything online other than your current main game's wiki, you know there is quite a crisis going on in eastern Europe. Well, the video game industry isn't free of this and has taken action along with many other industries in “unplugging” from Russia. After a public call from Ukraine to all game dev companies last week, the following have since banded together in blocking all Russian accounts or transactions: Ubisoft, Take-Two, Rockstar, Activision Blizzard, EA, CD Projeckt Red, Microsoft, Epic, Nintendo, Steam, Sony and others Actions taken by all of these companies do vary, of course. From donations to halting production entirely. Some launcher/marketplace accounts still have access to content already purchased because, let's face it, the conflict over there isn't the fault of everyone in Russia. A lot of limited access comes from economic sanctions and access to banks/funds Alchemy Takes Time We saw this coming! Intel's Arch Alchemist cards have been pushed back to a May - June release Why? Well, because Intel is putting it's “finishing touches” on their new Arch Alchemy cards According to sources at Igors Labs via Tom's Hardware say that we will see qualification samples in the next few weeks Intel is still taking its time because of this anticipated launch. Polishing drivers, etc. This delay in release could mean that the Arch cards could be a heavy contender in the GPU market. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/saved-state-heros/support

To Trust or Antitrust The huge deal between Activision/Blizzard and Microsoft isn't set to be completed for another year but the FTC might be heading up the investigation Lina Khan (Lee.Na), the FTC chair, has promised to be tougher on tech companies, most notably with Nvidia's failed purchase of ARM The investigation could be focused on whether Microsoft, a console manufacturer, could absorb the entirety of the Activision/Blizzard catalog without hurting consumers and other companies Old Intel The only prototype of Intel's old Larrabee GPU, in the world, sold on Ebay France last week for $5234. Just when you think overpaying for a shiny, new 3090 was pricey, some “collector” goes and makes us feel a little better(?) about GPU prices. This is a discrete Intel GPU, but NOT the upcoming Arc cards that we've talked about before. The Larrabee was Intel's canceled project from 2009/2010 No technical specs on the card, but it did sport 32 cores at the time. 25 cores were supposedly enough to run Gears of War without AA. While it could've been a competitor back then, the power consumption was unacceptably high It's in RDNA AMD says RDNA 3 GPU's confirmed this year Alongside of the release of the Zen 4 in the second half of 2022 AMD's RDNA 3 Navi series chip is set to be a top competitor Updates to the Radeon Linux drivers show that the RDNA 3 could support 8k/60hz or 16k/60hz HDR through DisplayPort 2.0 Prices however will not be going down and consumers can expect to see a 20% increase in GPU's You Can't Cheat Me, but I Can Cheat You While Epic Games has stated that the Steam Deck is an “amazing move” by Valve, they are saying that Fortnite will not be supported on it. Basically, the Steam Deck is a handheld Linux PC and Fornite's EAC/BattleEye instances are not optimized to run on it. ARMonopoly Averted! Nvidia might be set to walk away from its deal with SoftBank's chip manufacturer Arm (reported in news patch v11.17) Receiving opposition from almost everyone who uses the chip giants hardware, as well as investigations by the UK govt., means the deal may not close as anticipated. Nvidia claims the deal would not hinder console manufacturers and may even create competition amongst its competitors There have been rumblings of Softbank preparing for a public offering The deal will expire on September 13th of this year Skynet is that you? The hope for them is to have at least 50% of their sales coming from PC related products by 2022 (or 2023). 2023 seems more likely with barely one quarter left this year. Mentionable growing profits over recent years, and record setting sales along with simultaneous multi-platform releases, instead of console first, likely led to this strategy Grand Theft Gameboy [Link] A little bittersweet humor here.. Apparently, a gang of British car thieves have been busted after stealing a Mitsubishi Outlander. They used a device disguised as a Nintendo Game Boy, which is designed to bypass security alarms on modern cars. The funny part? One of the thieves was flagged on CCTV and eventually busted while driving his own car! The car security bypass thingy was in the car with him, which was in a Supreme Game Boy case making it easily identifiable. Especially when the thief had video evidence on his own phone of the device in action, along with commentary. 3 thieves were caught in total. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/saved-state-heros/support

Intel: Target Acquired [Link] Intel appears to be hitting the ground running with breakout strategy for Q1 2022, by going right after Nvidia'a RTX 3070 and AMD's RX 6700 XT as a competitive entry point Known leaker Greymon55 stated on Twitter that he saw a slide regarding Intel's first move being being made with their 175-225W Alchemist GPU. Even though we have known that Intel has been really targeting Nvidia, Pierre Ferragu (Intel CEO) backed this up by mentioning that their GPU architecture is in a place where he believes they can really put pressure on Nvidia for the first time ever At what end of the wattage power bracket Intel ends up competing at, it will be a new chapter for the market. If they can compete at anything under 220W (Nvidia's rating for their 3070), then we may even be impressed CDPR is Still Crowdfunding? [Link] That's right! The campaign is aimed at $100k to help distribute Ronin to those interested Although we heard of this project back in July's WinterCon, I don't think we expected the several-billion-dollar company to put it behind a $40 paywall on Kickstarter. Dr. DisRespect Knows.. [Link / Link] The Two-Time now knows why Twitch banned him over a year ago, but we still don't. Doc has stated that he's knows for months as to why the streaming platform pushed him out and is planning to “sue the f**k out of them” for “the amount of damages” this has caused. Are Dr. D's words just part of his high energy persona or is this going to be something tangible? As this reignites one of the biggest gaming news related topics from 2020; I know we're all curious about the details. Halo Infinite No Longer Has an Infinite Delay [Link] The Microsoft Store leaked, or didn't, the release date of Halo Infinite this morning of Dec. 8. While fans expect this to be cemented with the start of Gamescon today, a source close to Microsoft told The Verge that December 8th is accurate. Microsoft originally planned to release Halo Infinite with the Xbox Series X / S in Nov 2020, but delayed it until fall 2021 due to the challenges of game dev during a pandemic. The disappointing facts that 343 Industries revealed regarding the lack of campaign co-op and Forge modes, still stands. Co-op will come during season 2, about three months after launch, and the Forge mode, that allows Halo players to customize and share maps, won't be in until season 3, approximately six months after launch. Moar RTX3k GPUs! [Link] Of all places, Best Buy is loading up their shelves with nVidia RTX 3k Series GPUs tomorrow, Aug. 28th! Yes, this even includes 3080 Ti, 3080, and 3090s. However, these quantities will only be available at certain locations AND only one per customer! This should curb scalpers from camping the doors to buy out all of the cards. Definitely something that should be implemented on items affected by shortages. There is a store and stock list made available by Best Buy, buried in our notes. More Blizzard Lawsuit Drama [Link] California has broadened the scope of its anti-discrimination lawsuit against Activision Blizzard. The state is now adding temporary workers to the female full-time employees of whom it is suing on behalf of. This is pretty shocking, or not: The state's DFEH is alleging that Blizzard has interfered with its investigation! The dev studio has made the investigation more challenging by enforcing NDAs requiring workers to speak with them before contacting the DFEH directly, or their hired third-party law firm, WilmerHale. Blizz HR has also supposedly SHREDDED documents related to investigations and complaints While Blizzard states that they have been, and currently are, making changes to better their work environment, these alleged actions are more than negating their intent. Intel Arc [Link] Intel is stepping on to the competitive GPU stage with Nvidia and AMD with its new Arc branding The Arc entity will cover the hardware, software and services to come for Intel's high-end, discrete GPUs. Many generations planned as well Arc GPUs will be available in both desktop and laptops as early as Q1 2022 under the build name “Alchemist” Alchemist is capable of many expected features such as mesh shading, variable rate shading, video upscaling, and real-time ray tracing. Intel is even promising AI-powered super sampling. DLSS competition anyone? While no benchmarks are currently released for Alchemist, we do already know the future generational codenames: Battlemage, Celestial and Druid. Valheim Hearth & Home Deets [Link] Not a deep dive of the upcoming content patch for Valheim, but deets are deets In addition to new building pieces (a higher tier roof and actual window pieces), the food system gets some more insight Foods will now be more focused toward the player's health or stamina, instead of varying degrees of both. Not to mention many new food items being added to the menu.. Of crafting Block will also be based off of your HP instead of stamina now! There will be a new ‘stagger bar' that shows up next to your viking as you block damage. Once this bar fills up, YOU will be staggered. As always subtle, but sensible features in this game adding to the gameplay balance. Epic Games Self-Publishing Beta [Link] A toolset for Epic Games Store self-publishing has entered closed beta Epic is stating that this will allow their games store to grow faster than ever before which is likely true since devs/publishers currently have to work hand-in-hand with Epic to get approval These new tools will allow publishers to "set up their own product pages, achievements, pricing, offers, and upload builds and updates" on the store, very similar to what we're used to with Steam Direct Unlike Steam, speaking of, Epic will still have higher standards as to what kinds of content will be approved. No hate, discrimination, porn, etc. will be allowed on the storefront. Although there are already mentions of a loophole for adult content. Epic has declined to speak on any fees associated with this publishing method yet, as, again, Steam charges $100 for an initial listing. https://www.theverge.com/2021/8/16/22626912/intel-arc-gpu-brand-alchemist-codename-release-date https://www.pcgamer.com/new-valheim-video-outlines-upcoming-changes-to-blocking-and-staggering/ https://www.pcgamer.com/the-epic-games-stores-equivalent-to-steam-direct-is-in-beta/ --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/saved-state-heros/support
More No Man's Sky Content! Since the amazing launch of NMS 5 years ago.. NMS has finally evolved into the game it was promised to be. It's not done yet! Although next to nothing is known about the new, 17th and once again free DLC titled ‘Frontiers,' Director Sean Murray took the opportunity of this announcement to express how it's felt and what it's been like to mold this title over the last 5 years. We're not going to read this lengthy quote, this time! Just know that it's your usual heart-felt, prideful and sensational 2 paragraphs. As a launch-naysayer, I can say that I'm surprised what the game has become and that I now love it. Every DLC brings me back, as this one will too. Before we finish this topic, though, one hint that Murray did give us on the PlayStation blog, is that Frontiers will be "a missing piece of the sci-fi fantasy that we've always wanted to add." The Doc Starting His Own Dev Studio The Two-time wants to partner with "mega influencers" to build their dream game This info comes from a job posting on the Champions Club website Having worked for Activision on Call of Duty before, he may have the drive and insight to actually get this off of the ground It is known that many developers now use big streamers/influencers for marketing purposes, but this may be the first time collabing with them for actual development/consultation Given Dr. D's favorite genre, and mentions of “esports and monetization,” within the job ad, I'm expecting an FPS obviously More Detailed Twitch Bans Apparently, Twitch has decided to “clear up” their decisions as to why they ban and suspend streamers. The company announced on Twitter that enforcement notifications will now include the name of the stream and the date that the violation occurred. Twitch will still not be stating exactly what got an user banned, but this could possibly help streamers narrow down what got them in trouble. I'll never understand why Twitch has to be so vague about the offenses. D2 Remastered Stripping? Blizzard has quietly announced that they're removing TCP/IP multiplayer from Diablo 2 Resurrected The feature is being removed as Blizzard is citing “Security risks” even though it was promised to be in the remaster back in February TCP/IP was a popular multiplayer mode that allowed P2P connections that didn't require dedicated battle.net servers. New World Delayed...Again...but not for long [Link] Last year it was announced New World would be delayed until Spring of 2021 then delayed again until August 31st. The new date is set for September 28th The delay by the developers is due to “take a few extra weeks to smash bugs, improve stability, and polish the game.” The beta has had over a million adventures and has had over 16 million hours played during beta Activision Blizzard Lawsuit [Link] Gamer or not, I'm sure you've heard of Activision Blizzard. Well, as I'm sure you've also heard recently; They are being eviscerated by a recent scandal consisting of accusations of discrimination and harassment! J. Allen Brack, president of the company's Blizzard Entertainment studio, has already resigned due to a lawsuit alleging a "frat boy" work culture where multiple female employees were subjected to gender discrimination, sexual harassment, unequal pay, and that "the company's executives and human resources personnel knew of the harassment and failed to take reasonable steps to prevent the unlawful conduct, and instead retaliated against women who complained." Many current and former employees started sharing their experiences online, as soon as the lawsuit was official An indirect, but not so surprising, side effect of this scandal is many players cancelling their game-based subscriptions and refraining from purchasing future titles Shareholders sue Activision Blizzard [Link] Shareholders are arguing that they have been "economically damaged" by company execs withholding information and allegations that have recently come to light The complaint specifically names a few executives, and others, that were "aware of, or recklessly disregarding, the fact that the ‘false and misleading statements' were being issued concerning the Company" This lawsuit says Activision Blizzard failed to tell shareholders that it was under investigation by the California DFEH or that it was "at greater risk of regulatory and legal scrutiny and enforcement" based on undisclosed facts. Netflix Cloud Gaming Service: Mobile.. “For Now” [Link] With all of the cloud gaming talk lately, we just wanted to mention this one, especially after recently mentioning it… ?! Back in April after Netflix stated that "games are going to be an important form of entertainment" for them, they made a move last week. Netflix hired former Oculus content VP Mike Verdu as their VP of game development. After a vague, "we're doin' games,” the company revealed that it will prioritize mobile game dev.. at first… Not targeting “gamers,” but going for their existing customers first with feature rollouts Still no ETA on any game releases, though New World Beta Bricking RTX 3090s?! [Link] New World Beta launched yesterday (7/20), hitting almost 200k player instantly It didn't take long for reports to start coming in about RTX 3090 users, specifically EVGA 3090, getting bricked! Caused by high temperatures experienced while playing and it doesn't seem to do be doing so under any real heavy load, as some users have reported it happening on the title screens EVGA has made a statement, saying they are dealing with “specific problems” in general (Amazon's New World officially addressed the reports in a post to the New World forums today, stating that they believe the issue is due to driver and framerate limiters. The team detailed steps for users worried about this happening to their GPU to take to effectively ensure that this doesn't brick your GPU as well.) GTA Online Fast and Furious Edition [Link] GTAO has received one of it largest updates to date, ‘Los Santos Tuners' The update brings a brand-new “social space,” the LS Car Meet, which is described as an underground racing hide-out. D2R: Alpha Test Beans [Link] Blizzard has been listening to player feedback to preserve the classic nature and spirit of the game. “There are so many unique quirks and systems in this game that, if modernized, would ultimately sabotage the original experience we adore. So, we've exercised restraint to protect the authentic experience” VFX, QoL, Accessibility, Interface (like auto gold pickup), shared stash, ‘compare' tooltips, automap visualization enhancements, a clock (LOL), Loading Screen: Character Vulnerability & Time (no more getting 1 shot before you even load) For a limited time in August, players who pre-ordered D2R will be able to step into Sanctuary in an early access beta. “Soon after,” all players (on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation) will have the chance to play in the open beta. We'll be able to play the Amazon, Barbarian, Paladin, Sorceress, and Druid. No assassin or necro mentions yet! Party with up to 8 players. Discord Goes Artificial [Link] Discord has purchased AI ant- harassment company Sentropy. Sentropy's product-in-mention, Sentropy Protect, monitors networks for abuse/harassment, then offers users a way to block problematic people and filter out messages they don't want to see. The product was initially focused on helping people clean up their Twitter feeds and to create tools for companies to support moderation. As of now, Discord has a huge network of more than 150 million monthly users! The userbase is currently made up of more than 19 million communities and requires the work of both volunteers and teams within Discord to properly moderate. I'm sure a LOT of testing and “retrofitting” of Sentropy's algorithms will have to take place before we see it in action. Mega Sega-suit [Link] Sega is catching some heat right now under a lawsuit claiming that one of its arcade games, Key Master, is actually rigged! ..and this isn't the first time the game has come under fire.. The plaintiff, Marcelo Muto, is suing the company for $5 million Key Master, which is found in arcades and malls across the US, has players use a joystick and button to maneuver a key into a specific hole where winners are awarded with prizes: such as earbuds, video games and even GoPros. If a player gets the key into the correct position to win, but not within the predetermined time, the machine will overshoot, causing a loss. Pretty simple, right? Each machine, the lawsuit says, is programmed to only allow a win after a certain number of losses, 700 by default. This denies players from winning with actual skill. Is CS:GO Hemorrhaging Players? [Link] The average player-count for CS:GO dropped about 17% over the month of June; The biggest loss of players since April 2018, per SteamCharts This loss of about 110k players in June is now the third largest loss in a single month since the game came out in Q3 of 2012 Why the number-talk? Well, some speculation says this could be blamed on Valve's decision to start charging for Prime matchmaking. Could also be due to all of the other popular FPS contenders out there, but I find that hard to believe. CS:GO and its predecessors have always been a game I go back to. It's simply a classic. However, engaging the ol' Money Grab Mode on a game that's already 9 years old, and with a very dedicated fanbase, would make me think about jumping ship for good too! We Can Haz RTX 3080s?! News Patch v6.23 Resident Evil Village DLC From Capcom's underwhelming E3 conference, we go the announcement of RE:V DLC being developed NO details though! As always, there are tons of what-ifs out there on the interwebs. Abandoned. Silent Hill. Kojima-san-Hasan?! As any thirsty Silent Hill fan probably already knows, BlueBox Game Studio has been working on an upcoming horror-adventure called Abandoned. Ok.. and?? Thanks to Reddit (mostly), theories have caught on fire regarding this game secretly-but-not-so-secretly being the next in the Silent Hill franchise. However, Hasan from BlueBox tweeted a short video on 6/22 stating that they are plain-and-simply an indie dev studio working on a passion project. Abandoned is NOT Silent Hill. Diablo 2: Resurrected Info Bit We now have an actual release date of Sept 23, 2021! The game will cost $39.99 on PC Reminder this is not a remake, but simply a remaster. Other than new 3D graphics and Dolby audio, this will largely be the same game. Nostalgia from 2000, yes! New World Alpha Update Amazon Games seems to be pumping out, or at least revealing, quite a bit of new content as of late for New World as release creeps up. New armor appearances and tiers Mob groups being split up for identification's sake, dropping different armor/weapon appearances 2 new mission types: Assassinate and Elite. Assassinate missions: You'll simply find a high-level target somewhere in the world and kill them. Elite missions: Players will challenge some of the strongest enemies in New World. "Elite missions send players to take on Aeternum's most dangerous villains and their minions. These missions are higher difficulty with a higher reward. It's recommended that you bring a friend." War Declarations have been updated to give the most active companies a higher chance to be selected as Vanguard for the region. PVP is also seeing some changes. Amazon reduced gear durability loss on death and increased XP for player kills. It also seems New World is reversing some of the XP tweaks it made with the last update by reducing the XP needed to level after level 7 by 20%. XP gained from repeatable Expedition quests has been doubled as well as tweaked the XP gain from the different crafting professions (some items were giving disproportionate XP). Discord Stiff-arms Microsoft.. For now [Link] Discord has ended acquisition talks with Microsoft! They are seeking an IPO to stay independent. As you all know, MS was wanting to by Discord for $10B Apparently MS acquired Nuance Communications Inc for $16B last week Not sure if this has anything to do with ending talks with Discord Amazon Cancels LOTR MMO [Link] Amazon's LOTR MMO announced in 2019 has now been cancelled. The game had been in development at Amazon Game Studios in a partnership with Chinese company Leyou Technologies Holdings Purchased by none other than Tencent in December The negotiations following this acquisition led to a dispute between Amazon and Tencent that lead to the game's cancellation The Amazon team working on the game will be moved to other projects Sad news for Amazon Game Studios who hasn't been able to get off the ground since 2014. Even New World has been delayed repeatedly. Resident Evil Re:Verse [Link] Another new RE title being worked on, Re:Verse, is a multiplayer team deathmatch with teams of 4-6 facing each other in 5 minute "survival horror revenge matches." Apparently, when killed, you're not out! Your body turns into a “biological superweapon” to wreak havoc on the enemy team. There is a free open beta taking place TODAY (4/21). It has been going from 2am and is running until 2am tomorrow (4/22). You just have to have a Capcom ID, which is free to sign up for, and meet the minimum specs. Of course, there is no release date, but is coming out later this year. The game looks pretty cool so far. I might check it out after this News Patch! Let's Talk About Our Stream! New World, New Weapon, the Ice Gauntlet [Link] After hitting a retweet goal, New World threw us a teaser on the new Ice Gauntlet weapon! (https://twitter.com/playnewworld/status/1380596793797447681) Their initial video on a tweet showed a chunk of ice with something inside of it. Back on April 6th, NW challenged users to hit 200 retweets to reveal what was inside. No details on the abilities, but gaunlets are a neat alternative to your typical staves Gauntlets were spotted in very old alpha/beta footage and artwork. Older Ser Medieval YT videos delved pretty deep into these details. Assassin's Creed Expansion Delayed [Link] First off, I will say I've been loving the Pagan and Old World references that saturate this game. It is a favorite genre of mine. The expansion, Wrath of the Druids, planned to come out on April 29, has now been pushed to May 13 Ubisoft tweeted, "We're working on an article to provide transparency and share insights on our dev process. Thanks for your patience. Keep an eye on our social channels for future news!" Wrath of the Druids will have players investigate the secrets of a mysterious and ancient cult in Ireland, an island full of "occult forests," gloomy and doomy landscapes, and regional kings you may befriend or offend. Half-Life: Alyx Being Flattened?? [Link] I had not heard of this mod project before! Developer SoMNst has been working on this for over a year! It is turning HL:A in to a traditional FPS, expectedly. May be a little slower paced and won't be as exhilarating as it was inside a headset. Now, obviously, HL:A is not a game meant for a flat screen, but I am in favor of it! With this being such an amazing game, I think everyone should have a chance to experience the story. Oculus Quest 2 Officially Going Wireless! [Link] The Quest 2 is already a great headset for playing VR games independent of a PC or cords. Anyone who owns a Quest 2 is probably already aware of Virtual Desktop for streaming your PCVR games to your headset. However, Oculus has announced Air Link. Part of the v28 software update rolling out this month, Air Link is "a completely wireless way to play PC VR content on Quest 2 using WiFi" that you'll be able to opt into in experimental mode. As is the case with Virtual Desktop, you'll need a strong router, a wired connection from that router to your PC, and to be standing near-ish the router while you play. "We'll work to improve Air Link over time," Oculus says, "including performance, visual quality, and the ability to run in less than ideal wireless scenarios." Oculus also announced native support for the 120Hz display refresh rate! Virtual Desktop can push this, but it more of a manual setup and dialing in the proper bitrate. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/saved-state-heros/support
Pantheon: RotF Alpha One! While there is no exact date, it will be “soon!” By soon, Visionary Realms means this year! Alpha will have several phases like Pre-Alpha. The sessions will be longer than the 3-5 hour sessions that have been the norm for Pre-Alpha. Visionary Realms will be livestreaming on Twitch tomorrow, April 1st, as part of their monthly Development Update. Hopefully, officially announcing Alpha with an exact date! There are a whole slew of things they have listed to have integrated by Alpha One, check out the links for full info! 'World's Largest' Hacks Distributor Busted in China This Chinese cheat distribution group, nicknamed ‘Chicken Drumstick,' has been busted by police in Kunshan, with help from Tencent. The cheat group mostly made cheats for mobile phone shooters, some distributed by - you guessed it - Tencent! Supposedly some of the hacks were also being designed and sold for popular arena shooters Valorant and Overwatch. Chicken Drumstick was pulling in around $10k a day. They charged from $10 a day to $200 a month for a subscription key to access these hacks. Police were tipped off to this operation about a year ago and have since closed down 17 websites, with 10 resellers arrested. Assets of around $46 million were seized, including several luxury cars. ESO Free Play Event March 31st to April 13th. This event only includes the base version of the game, including Vvardenfell. Don't balk at this because that is still 23 zones to explore! This is a great way to get started, especially if you choose to buy the full game after the free event. If you played a previous free play event, you'll be able to pick up where you left off, which is pretty cool! During this event, the base game and last year's Greymoor chapter will be up to 67% off, so for those who do decide to pick up the MMO after the event ends can do so on the cheap. Also, watch out for the next chapter, Blackwood, coming out later this year. No Man's Sky: Expeditions Update New game mode: Expeditions is a path of milestones laid out before you, tasking you with objectives like establishing bases and/or discovering creatures, with rendezvous planets set up to bring the community back together at certain progression points. If you're not the biggest fan of open world (or universe) games, this is a great way to give yourself some direction in No Man's Sky. After completing these expeditions, you can unlock cool new ships, cosmetics and commemorative patches. All Expedition rewards are shared across all of your No Man's Sky saves! Expeditions basically sound like seasons/ladders in other games, resetting with a new rewards track, theme and timeframe with each reset. If you really like a particular Expedition character you played, you'll be able to continue a save to play beyond the Expedition's end, like a normal NMS save, and free roam similar to one of the other play modes. Many more changes and features included in this update. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/saved-state-heros/support

Another Cyberpunk 2077 Feature.. Removed?! [Link] A recent Reddit post has added on to more, recent frustrations with the game. Rants on this thread have revealed that wall running was a feature during a 2018 demo. Also, the shooting range in the demo only being used in a single mission, and not being able to be revisited, was the cause of some more nerdrage. Removed shooting range not confirmed Could've been just that.. A part of the demo. Microsoft Buying Discord?! [Link] Yet another acquisition for MS? Valuing Discord at around $10bn. More than Bethesda/Zenimax at $7.5bn! Another record breaker already. Back to back! This could become a way for MS to integrate the voice software into their Xbox Network, even bundling Nitro Discord subscriptions with Game Pass. Apparently Discord has also talked to Epic Games already. Epic recently bought up Fall Guys dev Tonic Games.
