Zuzana Mukumayi Filipova joins Claire Pedrick to talk about her journey into coaching and the work she does with foreign partners. [Note from Claire: Most coach training and development is expensive. At 3D we try and make ours affordable based on the sector you work in. When you charge what people can afford it's tough. So Zuzana is doing a fundraiser for the next part of her coach training with Solutions Academy. She is asking for donations. In fair exchange, she will donate coaching scholarships for people who can't afford coaching. “It matters to me, because I know what difference coaching can make and I want to make it accessible. Fundraising the full amount would equal approximately 10 to 20 people supported with pro‑bono coaching (estimate based on my packages)” If you'd like to pay it forward for Zuzana's training, here's the link https://buymeacoffee.com/zuzanamf/ ] Listen to insights from diverse coaching journeys across different cultures. If you thought coaching had to be serious to be effective, meet Jill Salzman — who decided to write a coaching book as a graphic novel. A comic-style book about mindset blocks, fears, and what it really means to coach. Her purpose? To show that coaching isn't just deep thinking — it's also fun, relatable, and human. She wanted to challenge the idea that we need to be overly serious or “professional” to be credible. So she created five fictional characters — a superhero among them — who embody common excuses clients use: “I don't have time,” “I'm too inexperienced,” and so on. Through playful art and storytelling, she makes coaching accessible and engaging for everyone, even kids. What stands out? The notion that coaching doesn't have to be a heavy, intimidating process. It can be light, joyful, and authentic — because that's where real connection and transformation happen.Maybe that's the point. Perhaps we need to remember that human connection — not perfection — is the core of coaching success. Chris Paterson emailed Claire Pedrick: I wonder if there is a podcast around the title “What can't I bring to supervision?” which could be interesting to explore. My sense is that lots of coaches will have things that would be valuable for them to discuss but they either don't trust their supervisor enough or don't feel they would be allowed to discuss things that might not be directly related to their coaching practice. Of course, this comes down to the contracting between them and their supervisor and I wonder if a conversation which included examples of topics such as grief and loss, forgiveness, caring responsibilities, life events and choices might give coaches more permission to discuss what really matters to them in supervision rather than having to perform in some way.
