While it's bittersweet that our podcast is coming to an end with this episode, it's difficult to put into words how excited we are as an organization for what 2025 has in store.A formal partnership with Centershot Ministries and Centershot Blue will officially kick off our initiative to help plant 1,000 archery outposts across the US. These locations will provide a safe environment for Active Military, Veterans, Law Enforcement and First Responders to gather around the sport of archery. Outposts can be at an archery range, pro shop, school, church, park, or anywhere else that a group of local volunteers can host the participants. With a great curriculum in place and archery kits available for purchase through Genesis and Centershot, this program is transforming lives and communities one arrow at a time. HHAUSA's role will be to locate individuals wishing to start outposts and pointing them to Centershot leadership for the necessary training and onboarding process.Five years ago, our vision was for HHAUSA to become a nationwide nonprofit. While it took a different path than we expected, it has become a reality through this allegiance with Centershot. God's ways are always higher than ours!We will be hosting the four largest HHAUSA events in our history in 2025 with the schedule being released in December. If you haven't made the trip to Wisconsin yet, plan on adding that to your list of archery destinations in the New Year. We'd love to invite you into this community that has come together and continues to grow, providing a healthy outlet for our Service Members.I want to thank everyone who has been a part of The HHAUSA Podcast over the past three and half years. From our guests to our listeners and our editor Logan Chartrand of Whiz Bang Media, collectively we have made a difference in so many lives. While the mic will be going silent, you have my word that these life changing and life saving conversations will still be happening in the weeks, months, and years ahead as we continue to selflessly serve those who serve and protect us.May God bless you, God bless our Service Members, and God bless America! To stay updated on everything happening at HHAUSA, visit our website at hhausa.org, subscribe to our email list, and follow us on Facebook and Instagram. For more information on Centershot Ministries and Centershot Blue, visit their websites at:https://centershot.org/https://centershotblue.org/For more information about HHAUSA, learn how you can support our mission, or attend an event, visit www.hhausa.orgTo purchases HHAUSA hats, tees and hoodies, visit www.hhasports.comHHAUSA Partner Discount CodesHot Shot 15% Off Code: HHAPartner24Rugid Gear 10% Off Code: HHAUSA10StealthRig 15% Off Code: Stealth15

Today's episode of Christopher Lochhead: Follow Your Different is a love letter to our military and veterans. Our guest Christian Anschuetz shares his story of how he looked up to these brave heroes growing up, and how he became one of the heroes that serve our country. Christian Anschuetz retired from the U.S. military as a Marine Captain. After his service, he had a long and successful career as both an entrepreneur and an S&P 500, Senior C-level executive. After hanging up his uniform as and executive and advisor, he continues to serve as one of the leaders of the organization called Project RELO and will be spearheading an upcoming endeavor called Task Force Tribute. If you are interested in his story, and the story of thousands of active military and veterans who have served our country, stay tuned to this episode. Christian Anschuetz & the Legendary Humans of the US Military Imagine being 12 years old at home with your dad, as you watch a strange car pull up in front of your house. Two men in uniform get out, and one's a chaplain. This is an experience only Goldstar families know. This was also the moment a 12-year-old Christian Anschuetz, learned that his older brother and hero, Norman, had died serving his country. Years later, Christian finds himself joining the military himself. He did so to honor the memory of his brother, and the love of country in his heart. He eventually became a Marine Captain and went to serve for several years. We often forget that military service in our country is completely voluntary. So it takes a tough and brave soul to go through all the harsh training, and eventually deploy to dangerous and unknown territories. To sacrifice so much to serve speaks volumes to their love and loyalty to our country. After Christian retired from service, he found himself in the entrepreneurial side of things, where he utilized his expertise in advising and training business leaders and executives on how to hone their leadership skills. Project RELO Christian talks about Project RELO, a veteran non-profit that he founded. He provides a quick description of what they do, and how they help hone the nation's top CEOs and management teams to think different. “What we do is we take some of the nation's top executive leadership of fortune 500, CEOs and their management teams, and we provide leadership training to them. But what we do is we actually go on to military bases, and we conduct full military operations for three days. We do everything from convoy operations, communications, weapons handling, etc.” – Christian Anschuetz The beauty of Project RELO is that the people teaching these leadership training are transitioning military members. So it not only trains future business leaders to focus and learn leadership skills from another perspective, it also helps these transitioning military members and veterans have an idea on how they can use their previous experience to find work, or even build up new careers. Task Force Tribute Christian then talks about Task Force Tribute, which is a huge undertaking that Project RELO will be undertaking soon. One thing he pointed out was that not a lot of people know that people they mingle with on a day-to-day basics is a veteran, or is serving in some capacity in the military. Part of it is the depiction of what military does in the media. So when they eventually leave the service, there are certain preconceptions on what they could do for a career or business moving forward. As said earlier, Project RELO helps shine a light to both business leaders and military members that these military members' skills are not just confined to military-related activities. They are well-equipped with other talents and skills, plus the military discipline that has been trained to them for years. Task Force Tribute aims to tell their story in a more elaborate way. They want to tell the story of these legendary people, both active and veterans alike,

I am a veteran so I understand where you are coming from and how to best help you. Here are some points I cover about veterans: Adaptability Comfort Zones Tactical Investing Active Duty Investing Mutual Funds You had a guaranteed paycheck and a guaranteed retirement plan. But where do you go now? Where do you start? The person you need to talk to is someone who is knowledgeable, knows you, and someone you can trust. [09:05] – With all this advice out there, it might be hard to determine who is right and who is wrong. [11:51] – Cashflow is great and you are stuffing it into your savings account. Today we’ll be talking about your Estate. That is what happens to you and your stuff when you die. Estate Planning plans for what happens to you when you are very sick, and your stuff when you die. At the top of the list is to put, in writing, what kind of end of life medical care you do or don’t want and who you want to make health care decisions for you if you can’t. This is an Advanced Medical Directive for Healthcare, also know as a Living Will. These forms are usually state specific. A good place to start is ask your healthcare provider or search online for your state government resources. My local hospital had the forms printed out, answered questions, and even notarized it for me. Military OneSource has a pamphlet available on line called Making Your Health Care Wishes Known Through an Advance Directive: A Guide for Active Military and Their Beneficiaries This is a great place to start for our military. It gives a great overview and points servicemembers to your supporting military Legal Assistance Office. The next estate task is to name beneficiaries on your various financial accounts. This includes life insurance, bank accounts, and retirement accounts like an IRA, 401k and the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). When you die, they will pretty quickly pay the beneficiaries you named, giving them much needed cash as soon as possible. These accounts don’t go through probate. Probate is the legal process done through the courts verifying that your will is legal and your intentions are carried out. Probate is also public, it takes time, and it costs money.Another way for some of your assets to bypass probate and go directly to who you designate is by titling. You’re probably familiar with the title for your car. After you buy your car, you take the title the seller signed to the DMV to get plates and a new title in your name. Or in the name of you and someone else, usually a spouse. Two types of shared ownership which are called Joint Tenancy with a Right of Survivorship and Tenancy In Entirety pass directly to the surviving co-owner with out going through probate. These types of title are common for spouses who own property together like a house or a car. Using a title with survivorship rights means that person will get your share directly without the time, cost, and publicity of probate. Probate will also occur when there you die without a will, this is called dying intestate. Without a will the probate court must decide how to distribute the assets of your estate to your loved ones, and anyone else who might try to lay claim to your stuff. So the next important estate tip to consider is have a will. If your single, no kids, not much stuff, it might not matter to you much. Have more assets? Married? Kids? You should have a will. A will tells the court where you want your assets that pass through probate to go. It’s also where you would tell the court who you would like to act as a guardian for under age children and provide funds to support them. Our military can get a will free from JAG legal services. Not sure where you supporting facility is, check at Military OneSource online. For you civilians, some workplaces offer legal services as a benefit, so that may be a resource. For very simple wills, you might consider an online will preparation service like Legal Zoom , Trust and Will or NOLO. Just be aware that these sites don’t actually provide legal advice. If you want to set up a trust to take care of minor children, have a blended family, want to disinherit an estranged family member, or have a life partner you aren’t married to, it is probably best to hire an actual lawyer to draft your will.

On this episode, we interview Alison Barber Bell, Chancellor of WGU Indiana, and Andrew Nagel, Registered Nurse and Graduate of WGU's Nursing Degree Program. We discuss WGU's unique non-profit, accredited online degree program and how it's especially good for active duty military, transitioning military, veterans, and their families. WGU Indiana is an online, competency-based university established to expand access to higher education for Indiana residents. The university offers more than 60 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the fields of business, K-12 teacher education, information technology, and health professions, including nursing. Degrees are granted under the accreditation of WGU, which is accredited through the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). Teachers College programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), College of Business programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), and nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). WGU Indiana has helped 7,500 Hoosiers achieve their dream of completing a college degree. Another 5,900 students are currently enrolled. Facts about WGU Indiana: In 2010, Western Governors University was approached by Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels about creating a state-based model for the university. Indiana became the very first state model and the first state-endorsed online university, creating positions for a local chancellor and local advisory board. * WGU Indiana serves more than 520 active-duty military members, veterans or military family members. * WGU Indiana is a nonprofit, accredited, online university that serves students from all different backgrounds * WGU Indiana is currently serving about 5,600 Hoosiers – a 166 percent increase in enrollment since 2011. * WGU Indiana has awarded degrees to more than 7,500 Indiana residents. * WGU Indiana serves students who are not well-served by traditional colleges and universities; 72 percent are classified as underserved in one or more of four categories: ethnic minority, low income, rural residents, or first-generation college students. * As of 2018, 86 percent of WGU Indiana’s students work full-time jobs while pursuing a degree. * According to a recent Gallup-Purdue index, which provides insight into the relationship between the college experience and outcomes, WGU consistently scored higher than the national average when measuring school compatibility, mentorship, challenging curriculum, cost-worthiness and more. WGU Indiana’s tuition fees are nearly half the national average. Tuition is about $6,500 per 12-month year for most programs, and it is charged at a flat rate, which means students can complete as many courses as they are able in any term, at no additional cost. On average, WGU graduates increase their pre-enrollment income by $12,600 within two years of graduation and by $18,400 within four years. With an average cost of $16,500 for a bachelor's degree, most WGU graduates see a positive return on their investment within two to three years. Special Guests: Allison Barber Bell and Andrew Nagel.

It’s important to note that BAH calculations are made according to the location of the service member’s base or duty station, and not the location of his or her primary residence. Cory ran from Columbus, GA to Indianapolis, IN – 565 miles - to his daughter. His example is now a national movement called Run Ranger Run where individuals and teams from around the country raise funds and awareness to assist in the transition from active military to civilian life. You can join Cory to make a difference right where you are, and bring awareness to the difficult transition many of our honored military veterans face. A team of up to ten individuals will pledge to walk, run and/or ride bicycles a combined total of 565 miles in the month of February (usually 28 days). Teams may be formed from anywhere in the world and your miles can be logged from the comfort of your own home. As a collective, all participants will raise funds for GallantFew and increase awareness for veteran issues surrounding the transition from active military service to civilian life.
