The Annular eclipse will be on October 2nd for the other side of the world during the sundown of Rosh Hashanah. This is one of those moments where the darkness of the soul is to rear its head — the dragon is to rise up and bring the world to its knees as prophecy seems to be coming to fruition with the increase in worldwide calamities and wars. Supply chain shortages are happening on the East Coast due to the severe storm conditions and dock workers on strike. Furthermore, Israel's military says at least 100 ballistic missiles have been fired from Iran at Israel as tensions in the Middle East are at a breaking point. In theory, the Earth is experiencing shock treatment in just a zeptosecond. Tonight on Ground Zero (7-10 pm, pacific time) Clyde Lewis talks with military and geopolitical analyst, Steven Ben-Nun about ZEPTOSECOND – GIMME SHOCK TREATMENT. During an annular eclipse, the Moon is centered in front of the Sun but doesn't completely obscure it, instead leaving a ring of sunlight visible around the Moon's edges. This circle of light is called an annulus, or sometimes a “ring of fire.” Annular solar eclipses happen only when the Moon is at the furthest point from Earth in its orbit, making the Moon appear smaller than usual from the Earth's perspective. On October 2nd, the sun will go down at 6:22 PM in Israel, and that is precisely when the festival of Rosh Hashanah will start. So when this eclipse begins, the festival of Rosh Hashanah will have just commenced. Some say YESHUA will return at the FEAST of TRUMPETS others say IT is the start of the great Tribulation...what do you believe?www.prophecyhour.com Also                                           http://wichitahomeless.com/ “Remember we do not 100% agree with everything our guests, say, do, or believe. Such an alignment occurs approximately every six months, during the eclipse season in its new moon phase, when the Moon's orbital plane is closest to the plane of Earth's orbit. In a total eclipse, the disk of the Sun is fully obscured by the Moon. In partial and annular eclipses, only part of the Sun is obscured. Unlike a lunar eclipse, which may be viewed from anywhere on the night side of Earth, a solar eclipse can only be viewed from a relatively small area of the world. As such, although total solar eclipses occur somewhere on Earth every 18 months on average, they recur at any given place only once every 360 to 410 years. If the Moon were in a perfectly circular orbit and in the same orbital plane as Earth, there would be total solar eclipses once a month, at every new moon. Instead, because the Moon's orbit is tilted at about 5 degrees to Earth's orbit, its shadow usually misses Earth. Solar (and lunar) eclipses therefore happen only during eclipse seasons, resulting in at least two, and up to five, solar eclipses each year, no more than two of which can be total. Total eclipses are rarer because they require a more precise alignment between the centers of the Sun and Moon, and because the Moon's apparent size in the sky is sometimes too small to fully cover the Sun. An eclipse is a natural phenomenon. In some ancient and modern cultures, solar eclipses were attributed to supernatural causes or regarded as bad omens. Astronomers' predictions of eclipses began in China as early as the 4th century BC; eclipses hundreds of years into the future may now be predicted with high accuracy.   The Sun's distance from Earth is about 400 times the Moon's distance, and the Sun's diameter is about 400 times the Moon's diameter. Because these ratios are approximately the same, the Sun and the Moon as seen from Earth appear to be approximately the same size: about 0.5 degree of arc in angular measure. Types The Moon's orbit around Earth is slightly elliptical, as is Earth's orbit around the Sun. The apparent sizes of the Sun and Moon therefore vary. The magnitude of an eclipse is the ratio of the apparent size of the Moon to the apparent size of the Sun during an eclipse. An eclipse that occurs when the Moon is near its closest distance to Earth (i.e., near its perigee) can be a total eclipse because the Moon will appear to be large enough to completely cover the Sun's bright disk or photosphere; a total eclipse has a magnitude greater than or equal to 1.000. Conversely, an eclipse that occurs when the Moon is near its farthest distance from Earth (i.e., near its apogee) can be only an annular eclipse because the Moon will appear to be slightly smaller than the Sun; the magnitude of an annular eclipse is less than 1. Because Earth's orbit around the Sun is also elliptical, Earth's distance from the Sun similarly varies throughout the year. This affects the apparent size of the Sun in the same way, but not as much as does the Moon's varying distance from Earth. When Earth approaches its farthest distance from the Sun in early July, a total eclipse is somewhat more likely, whereas conditions favor an annular eclipse when Earth approaches its closest distance to the Sun in early January.   Total eclipse A total eclipse occurs on average every 18 months when the dark silhouette of the Moon completely obscures the bright light of the Sun, allowing the much fainter solar corona to be visible. During an eclipse, totality occurs only along a narrow track on the surface of Earth.  This narrow track is called the path of totality. Annular eclipse An annular eclipse, like a total eclipse, occurs when the Sun and Moon are exactly in line with Earth. During an annular eclipse, however, the apparent size of the Moon is not large enough to completely block out the Sun. Totality thus does not occur; the Sun instead appears as a very bright ring, or annulus, surrounding the dark disk of the Moon. Annular eclipses occur once every one or two years, not annually. Their name comes from the Latin root word anulus, meaning "ring", rather than annus, for "year". Partial eclipse A partial eclipse occurs about twice a year, when the Sun and Moon are not exactly in line with Earth and the Moon only partially obscures the Sun. This phenomenon can usually be seen from a large part of Earth outside of the track of an annular or total eclipse. However, some eclipses can be seen only as a partial eclipse, because the umbra passes above Earth's polar regions and never intersects Earth's surface. Partial eclipses are virtually unnoticeable in terms of the Sun's brightness, as it takes well over 90% coverage to notice any darkening at all. Even at 99%, it would be no darker than civil twilight. Comparison of minimum and maximum apparent sizes of the Sun and Moon (and planets). An annular eclipse can occur when the Sun has a larger apparent size than the Moon, whereas a total eclipse can occur when the Moon has a larger apparent size.

You have likely at least seen pictures or videos of solar eclipses, perhaps you have been fortunate enough to see one as it happens. Either way, eclipses are quite a dramatic and awe-inspiring sight to behold.    What do they mean? Anything? For non-Christians and those who hold to a completely materialistic view of the universe, sadly no. These events, while breathtaking, are not anything purposeful. They were not intended by anyone or anything. They are just chance alignments with no rhyme or reason for their occurrences. Science can tell us quite a bit about the numbers, forces, and elemental particles that comprise such a glorious arrangement, but science has no explanation for what it all means.  But for Christians, these celestial events are reminders and declarations of God's glory. And if you happen to live in parts of Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, or Texas, you will be in for a real celestial treat - an annular eclipse will be happening overhead Saturday, October 14, 2023. You don't want to miss it! An annular solar eclipse isn't quite the same spectacle as a total eclipse. The Moon doesn't completely cover the Sun, so we don't see the corona — the Sun's hot but faint outer atmosphere. But it still offers a beautiful experience. The sky looks dusky, the air cools, and leafy trees produce shadows that look like rings. And viewed with the right safety gear, the eclipse itself is impressive, with a “ring of fire” encircling the Moon. And that's what a narrow band of the United States will see tomorrow. The path of “annularity” — when the Sun completely encircles the Moon — will sweep ashore on the coast of Oregon at about 9:13 local time. It'll then slide southeastward, passing across six other states and several major cities before heading into the Gulf of Mexico, around noon. Solar eclipses take place when the new Moon glides between Earth and the Sun. If the Moon is at its average distance from Earth or closer, it produces a total eclipse. For this eclipse, though, the Moon will be about 8,000 miles farther than average. So, at most, it'll block 91 percent of the Sun's disk. Other than Hawaii, the rest of the U.S. will see a partial eclipse, with the Moon blocking a smaller fraction of the Sun. The closer to the path of annularity, the greater the extent of the eclipse. Please look at the eclipse only with proper eye protection, or follow it online — as a ring of fire encircles the Moon.  Script by Damond Benningfield Support McDonald Observatory

Programming note: This is a rebroadcast with updates of an episode from February, 2023. An annular solar eclipse is crossing Oregon this fall, and whether you're an eclipse-head or a casual stargazer, you'll probably want to go check it out. The eclipse is Oct. 14. On this week's episode of Peak Northwest, we talk all about how to prepare for the big cosmic event. Because while the annual solar eclipse won't be quite as awesome as the total solar eclipse from 2017, it will still be a spectacular sight to behold, creating a “ring of fire” in the sky above Oregon. Here are some highlights from this week's show: What is an annular solar eclipse? When and where is the eclipse happening? Are there any particularly good places in Oregon to see it? The first of two American solar eclipses is just a month away. It's an annular eclipse. That means the Moon won't completely cover the Sun. Instead, sunlight will outline the Moon — a bright “ring of fire.” The eclipse is annular because the Moon will be several thousand miles farther from Earth than average. At that range, it won't be quite large enough to totally block the Sun from view. Eventually, that's what all solar eclipses will look like. The Moon is moving away from Earth, at about an inch and a half per year. In half a billion years or so, it'll be so far that it'll never again completely obscure the Sun. Total solar eclipses will vanish, replaced by annular eclipses with ever-larger rings of sunlight around the Moon. Annular eclipses still offer a beautiful experience, though. The sky turns dusky, the air cools, and trees produce ring-shaped shadows. And viewed with the proper eye protection, the eclipse itself is quite a sight. The October 14th eclipse will sweep ashore on the coast of Oregon, then slide southeastward. It'll pass across six other states before heading into the Gulf of Mexico, near Corpus Christi, Texas, around noon Central Time. Except for Hawaii, all of the U.S. outside the path of annularity will see a partial eclipse, with the Moon blocking a smaller fraction of the Sun. The second American eclipse will be an even greater spectacle — a total eclipse, coming up on April 8th.  Script by Damond Benningfield Support McDonald Observatory
