With America In Major New Administration & the Political News View Headlines Changing Everyday, This Book is Particularly Intriguing Now!!In 1974 John Egerton published his seminal work, The Americanization of Dixie. Pulitzer Prize-winner Cynthia Tucker and award-winning author Frye Gaillard carry Egerton's thesis forward in The Southernization of America, a compelling series of linked essays considering the role of the South in shaping America's current political and cultural landscape. They dive deeper, examining the morphing of the Southern strategy of Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan into the Republican Party of today, the racial backlash against President Obama, family separation on our southern border, the rise of the Christian right, the white supremacist riots in Charlottesville, the death of George Floyd, and the attack on our nation's capitol. They find hope in the South too, a legacy rooted in the civil rights years that might ultimately lead the nation on the path to redemption. Tucker and Gaillard bring a multiracial perspective and years of political reporting to bear on a critical moment in American history, a time of racial reckoning and democracy under siege.Frye Gaillard is an award-winning journalist with over 30 published works on Southern history and culture, including Watermelon Wine; Cradle of Freedom: Alabama and the Movement that Changed America; The Books That Mattered: A Reader's Memoir; Journey to the Wilderness: War, Memory, and a Southern Family's Civil War Letters; Go South to Freedom; A Hard Rain: America in the 1960s, Our Decade of Hope, Possibility, and Innocence Lost; and The Slave Who Went to Congress. “Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever!” George Wallace, Governor of Alabama, was one of the most successful third-party presidential candidates in American history. In 1968, he ran a populist campaign pitching himself against the Civil Rights movement. He pushed to uphold formal structures of white supremacy in the South, forever employing racist dog whistles at his rallies and in the media. He may not have won the presidency, but his approach paved the way for a new, incendiary brand of politics, which permeates American society to this day... Join Dominic and Tom to discuss George Wallace's 1968 campaign. They explore the legacy of his political career, how it shaped the modern Republican party, and why the Alabama Governor could be considered the precursor to Donald J. Trump. _______ *The Rest Is History LIVE in the U.S.A.* If you live in the States, we've got some great news: Tom and Dominic will be performing throughout America in November, with shows in San Francisco, L.A., Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Boston and New York. Nothing is going to stop write-in candidate Dean Odle from running for governor of Alabama. This God-fearing patriot strongly cautions Americans against the evil plans of global leaders who are destroying America. Dean, who has had a profound interest in Biblical prophecy since he was a child, describes how the United Nations represents the beast from the Book of Revelation with seven heads and ten horns. Dean also reveals the horrifying influx of U.N. troops on American soil, the real reason why our leaders allow the southern border to remain open and unsecured, and how elitists like Bill Gates are working to gain a stranglehold on the world's food supply. In the end, this pastor of Fire and Grace Church says it's all about achieving total control over all of mankind. Learn what we can do to prepare for what lies ahead. TAKEAWAYS Dean's book, Like Clay Under the Seal, focuses on digging into what the Bible teaches about creation in contrast to modern science. Globalist power players' ultimate goal is to weaken the U.S. so that it falls under U.N. control. Proponents of the New World Order create the “chaos” and then give us their “solution” fulfilling their evil agenda. Most Democrats and Republicans are complicit in Agenda 2030 with only Christians and patriots standing in the way.

He used his position as ambassador of food, to promote farmer's markets and events that support Alabama food products. In 2011 he was crowned the King of American Seafood by winning The Great American Seafood-Cook-Off and became the national spokesperson for Alabama Seafood, American Sustainable Seafood, Gulf Seafood and the NOAA. As the winner he traveled the country educating the Americans about the benefits of sustainable seafood. As Chairman of the Alabama Seafood Marketing Commission, Chef Smith is proud to be a part of the great work being done to promote Alabama Seafood and Chef Advocate for Wild American Shrimp. He also works closely with The James Beard Foundation as a Boot Camp for Policy and Change Alum, supporter of James Beard Foundation's Smart Catch Sustainable Seafood program, and Scholarship Programs. Chef Smith is best known for his appearances on Seasons 14 and 16 of the acclaimed Bravo television cooking competition show, Top Chef. With a top ten finish and fan favorite support he proud of his competitive efforts and has high hopes for the future. Pete and Jim on this episode talk through Jim's unique experiences in the food industry and how that gives him the edge in the industry. Pete and Jim open up talking about how Jim's time as the Governor's Chef taught him how to be organized and efficient as a cook since Jim would at times be cooking for hundreds of people and have to cook prep the food by himself. Jim gives insight on how executive chefs can stay organized and also, teach their staffs to be organized and lead the way rather than the executive chef handling everything organization wise because one person handling all of that is not going to be scalable as you grow as a business. When you have more people on the team the more chaotic it gets, therefore you must be meticulous in the kitchen if your restaurant is going to succeed long term. Pete and Jim also discuss opening a restaurant and how Jim was his own investor by cashing out on many assets he had and how that freed him up to run his restaurant the way he desired and knew best. With that though there was great risk and Jim and Pete gives insight to those who are looking to open a restaurant how that process should look as you create a game plan for your restaurant. On this episode of Destination on the Left, I talk with Douglas Ralston, who describes why he sees the digital visitor experience as a way to open new channels for revenue, data, and engagement. We discuss the evolution of consumer behavior over the last 18 months and how it aligns with recent technological advances. Doug shares case studies of big brands that have added an omnichannel approach and how destinations of all sizes and budgets incorporate similar strategies into their visitor experience. What You Will Learn: How creativity and innovation combine when applying an omnichannel marketing strategy How large brands are fully developing this type of strategy Affordable ways to develop an omnichannel strategy for your destination Tactics that destinations can use to gather data that helps them better serve their visitors How to leverage your current technology to enter the omnichannel world Personalized Information Understanding and personalizing the customer experience is the future for the travel industry, and omnichannel communication allows you to meet your customers where they are most comfortable. When you're developing technology, remember that the more value you give your visitor in the form of information, coupons, or tickets, the more value you will get back in the form of data that you can use to understand and improve the visitor experience. Enhancing Visitor Experience The omnichannel approach to the visitor experience is all about allowing your customer to access the content they want on a device of their choosing to enhance their experience of your destination. Smartphones and mobile devices have opened up a whole new medium of communication, and if destinations can evolve their marketing on a digital level, then they will be able to open up new channels for revenue and visitor engagement. If President Lyndon B. Johnson has a real claim to greatness it is for his work to pass the Voter's Rights Act of 1965. It was the act that guaranteed every citizen in this country the right to vote. It came after a horrifying Sunday in the Alabama town of Selma. It was there that a contingent of Alabama State Troopers attacked a group of protesters as they marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge. The entire country watched it all on television, including the President.Lyndon Johnson had just passed a Civil Rights Act in 1964 that had guaranteed access to all Americans to public places. But that Act did nothing about laws and restrictions all over the country that were used to prevent African Americans from voting and registering to vote. Johnson knew that something had to be done and it could wait no longer. It had been a century since President Abraham Lincoln had signed the Emancipation Proclamation and won a war to insure African Americans their freedom in America. During the century that had followed a period of racist, shameful segregation had been allowed to exist unchallenged through out the land.Lyndon Johnson knew that his chance to gain a permanent place of greatness in our nation's history would be "to finish what Lincoln began." Here listen in as he works with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Senator Everett Douglas, and many others to get the 1965 act passed and to insure the safety of thousands of protesters in Alabama as they marched to secure their rights as Americans. Listen in as he pressures the Alabama Governor, George C. Wallace (no relation) into securing the safety of the marchers. It is truly a historic moment in the history of our country and thanks to President Johnson's taping system and the gift of audio recording we can listen in as it all unfolds.

4/20 week is upon us
US presidents Dwight Eisenhower and Lyndon Baines Johnson stopped by for a visit! But that's not all ~ former Alabama Governor and candidate for US president on three occasions George Wallace and Lyndon Johnson's chief aide on civil rights, Lee White, also stopped by! The topic we'll explore is the development of racially segregated housing in the city of Austin, Texas. In order to fully understand the relationship between race and housing, this story will focus on housing policies at the local level. Why? Because the implementation of policies at the city level, this podcast episode will argue, ultimately determined the pace and pattern of segregated housing in American cities. A law and order politician who rails against anarchists protesting in the streets and the lying mainstream media? It may sound familiar, but we’re actually going back more than five decades on the show today, when Alabama Governor and four time presidential candidate George Wallace was perfecting the politics of resentment and race baiting. A lot of people have commented on the similarities between that time and now. Congressman John Lewis was one of them.
In 2012, former Alabama governor Don Siegelman went to jail for five years. He says his prosecution was driven by a politicized justice system. And he's now making the case for why American democracy could be at stake without criminal justice reform. Don Siegelman and Jack Beatty join Meghna Chakrabarti.
In this episode. Deb Boykin interviews 2015 Alabama Governor's Arts Award recipient Rick Hall about his book The Man from Muscle Shoals: My Journey from Shame to Fame and about various aspects of Hall's career as a record producer and found of FAME recording studios.
BIG O SHOW JUNE 22 SEG #6 ALABAMA GOVERNOR CONDEMS NOOSE PLACED IN BUBBA WALLACE'S GARAGE
I've watched the political persecution of former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman for more than a decade in abject horror that such a political assassination of a much-loved governor could happen in the United States of America. But it did, and justice was not served in any manner. Siegelman was targeted by Karl Rove and brought down on false charges of bribery in a case antithetical to the concept of democracy. Having served more than five years in federal prison for no crime, Siegelman finally tells the whole story, and issues some stark warnings about what can (and did) happen, and some prescriptions for fixing the many problems that plague American society today. Governor Siegelman joins me for most of the hour today, as we have a lot of ground to cover. I hope you'll share today's program with everyone who needs to hear about America's Political Prisoner #1.

On Tuesday 5/24/19 we had protestors across the United States to stop States from abortion bans. Georgia's heartbeat bill: the bill has prompted Hollywood stars vowing to boycott the state if the legislation goes to effect in January. Alabama Governor signs abortion ban, Missouri Senate has also passed an abortion ban, Louisana is in the final stages and more states are coming. This is after NY signed the abortion on demand bill, lit up the empire state building. Governor Kay Ivey of Alabama signed a bill that makes most abortions in the state during any point of pregnancy, illegal. Except for those necessary to prevent a serious health risk to the unborn child's mother. She said, “every life is precise and every life is a gift from God.” Intro: Abortion, since 1973 the United States has killed over 70,000,000 viable children in the womb. The less than 1% that have to be aborted because of the mothers' life, or threat of the mothers' life. When this is the case I believe that that medical procedure, that termination is something that is a painful decision but necessary for the life of the mother. That’s that what I’m talking about. I’m not talking about rape which is less than 1% I want to talk about the bulk of elective abortions.
