ŚB 5.6.9 Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued speaking to Mahārāja Parīkṣit: My dear King, the King of Koṅka, Veṅka and Kuṭaka whose name was Arhat, heard of the activities of Ṛṣabhadeva and, imitating Ṛṣabhadeva's principles, introduced a new system of religion. Taking advantage of Kali-yuga, the age of sinful activity, King Arhat, being bewildered, gave up the Vedic principles, which are free from risk, and concocted a new system of religion opposed to the Vedas. That was the beginning of the Jain dharma. Many other so-called religions followed this atheistic system. Egyszemélyes metálrobbanásnak neveztük Tisza Karát ebben a cikkben. Most körüljártuk a black metal, technical death metal, post metal, post rock, ambient műfajokban főleg instrumentális zenét alkotó gitáros életét. ITT tudod letölteni CD minőségben is Tisza Kara eddig megjelent albumáit, ITT pedig meghallgathatod a Spotify-on.

“DUDE! They're like KISS, but next level, man!” (J/K. But seriously, NOW that we have your attention…) Hidden deep behind the anonymity of their grotesque masks and monochromatic, prison-style jumpsuits, SLIPKNOT have remained forever faithful to the sinister, dark ambiance that permeates every pore of everything they do; sonically, lyrically, and visually. SLIPKNOT isn't some lame, throw-away, “Nu Metal” band from the 2000's, but if they are to be forced inside that particular box, then they are easily the thrashiest, heaviest, and without question, the DARKEST band of that particular sub-genre (Hell, even the DJ is aggressive!!!). In essence, SLIPKNOT is the Zeppelin of the Metallica of the Pantera of the 2000's. Zaprojektuj samodzielnie swoje pierwsze badanie w organizacji. Warto podejść do nich w sposób systematyczny. In this episode I host a dialogue between Daniel Ingram and Dhammarato on the question ‘Is there magic in the Dharma?’. Daniel Ingram is a contemporary Buddhist author who controversially declared himself to be an Arhat, one of the highest spiritual attainments in Buddhism, challenging cultural taboos against disclosing one’s enlightenment. Dhammarato is a lineage teacher in the Thai Buddhist tradition, a student of the famous meditation master Bikkhu Buddhadasa, and is known for his unique, 1-1 teaching style conducted over Skype. In this episode Daniel and Dhammarato discuss the pros and cons of magical experiences, how to develop siddhis and their dangers, and whether these topics should even be discussed in public. They debate the differences between their own teaching approaches, as well as the approaches of the Burmese and Thai meditation methods, and the importance of a close relationship with a teacher. Daniel and Dhammarato also acknowledge each other, decrypt the ways in which they signal recognition of others’ spiritual attainments, and explain how to recognise enlightened teachers. … www.guruviking.com Audio version of this podcast also available on iTunes and Spotify – search ‘Guru Viking Podcast’. … Topics Include: 0:00 - Intro 1:44 - Structure of the episode 2:09 - Daniel’s opening address 12:34 - Dharmmarato’s opening address 26:56 - The pros and cons of magical experiences 35:15 - Anapanasati and developing sukkha 38:39 - Slow and hard path or fast and easy path? 43:30 - Different paths to enlightenment 48:41 - Does magic exist? 52:56 - Is there any value in cultivating siddhis? 58:26 - Should we talk about siddhis and magic? 1:12:43 - Moving from Right Dhamma to Supramundane Dhamma 1:18:50 - Misconceptions about the Mahasi method 1:23:30 - How to recognise Noble Ones and the dangers of siddhis 1:36:32 - The cat is out of the bag 1:39:50 - Mage vs sage 1:47:26 - Close relationship with a teacher 1:52:41 - Mass teaching vs 1-1 teaching 1:55:55 - A mature spiritual culture and the dynamics of Asian temples 2:19:24 - Daniel and Dhammarato recognise each other 2:22:04 - Ajahn Po the arhat 2:30:00 - Gender equality in the sangha and Thai culture 2:44:48 - Dhammarato’s closing address 2:47:06 - Daniel’s closing address … Daniel Ingram Episode Playlist - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlkzlKFgdkny_MJSecHyvKHPpvxTskBAC Dhammarato Episode Playlist - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlkzlKFgdknyGISEfksirYaYpsrXdf8va … To find out more about Daniel, visit: - integrateddaniel.info - firekasina.org - https://theeprc.org/ To find out more about Dhammarato, visit: - https://dhammaratoblog.wordpress.com/ - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjxg5GJFsRqnS-YLTzyrjLQ For more interviews, videos, and more visit: - www.guruviking.com Music ‘Deva Dasi’ by Steve James
The Buddha may be the single most influential figure in human history, and also the most misunderstood, or misinterpreted. When he attained "Buddhahood," the course of history changed forever, but what did it mean when he announced to the world, "I Am Awake?" The legacy he left in his wake is one of the major religions of the world, know today as "Buddhism" but he did not teach a belief system, nor a philosophy, and not exactly a science. What he taught was how to deliver one's self and others from suffering through education, reflection, and meditation. Let's take a look at this magnanimous artist formerly known as Siddhartha, and what is means to be a Buddha. In part 2 we'll answer this question from the Mahayana Buddhist perspective.

(Chinese) Contents~ Most people don’t realize that doing things they like or doing things their Master commands will have different benefit. That’s why even though it’s very difficult to find a Master, staying with an enlightened Master after you find Him is even more difficult. Therefore, many people practice spiritually and only attain the level of an Arhat or the level of a Bodhisattva. To attain Buddhahood is more difficult because they can’t get rid of their egos. The “ego” is the preconceived ...

Host and tea importer from Trident Cafe, Jake Dirnberger, samples a "rock oolong" from the Wuyi mountains in Fujian, China, with filmmaker Josh Hyde. Tie Luo Han, or Iron Arhat, is one of the oldest and most famous tea varieties in Wuyi-shan. It is exceedingly sweet and floral while maintaining a delicate complexity and strong mineral-ity. Rock oolongs are named so for the mineral-rich soil of the Wuyi nature preserve in which the best ones grow. The bio-diversity, rocky soil, and constant mist result in a more nutrient-dense tea leaf, and a more complex and full flavored tea. Rock oolongs are traditionally roasted in multiple stages, creating an oolong which is darker, with rich, sweet, and earthy flavors. Find more delicious oolong tea varieties at Trident Cafe and Teas website. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/immortalitea/support

1. Without haste or hurry, the herdsman rides home on the back of the bull. Far through the evening mist carries the sound of his flute, Note for note, tune for tune, all carry this boundless mood; Hearing it, not need to ask how the herdsman feels. 2. Pointing ahead towards the dyke where his home is, He appears out of mist and fog, playing his flute. Then suddenly the tune changes to the song of return. Not even Bai-ya' masterpieces can compare with this song. 3. In bamboo hat and straw coat he rides home through the evening mist, Sitting back to front on the bull, with joy in his heart. Step by step along in the cool, gentle breeze, The bull no longer looks at the once irresistible grass. (Gentling the Bull: The Ten Bull Pictures by Myokyo-ni, pub. Zen Centre, London) ……………………………. In this podcast: The mysterious and ‘divine' nature of the bull. The difference in understanding ‘mind' between Western and Buddhist psychology. Relating to the ‘ineffable'. The importance of the right relationship to the mystery of the Dharma. The end of the Arhat path and the emergence of the Bodhisattva path.

YOU GUYS, I GOT TO INTERVIEW SCOTT GOSNELL! Okay, okay, I’m calming down. In this episode, Erik interviews Scott Gosnell, entrepreneur, scientist, writer, wizard, autodidact, and translator of the collected works of Giordano Bruno. We spend a lot of time diving into Bruno’s life and works, but we also talk about other stuff. It is a really fascinating conversation that touches on the origins of psychology, the art of memory, Neoplatonism, and even Dzogchen Buddhism. The Beers No beer this episode! In this last episode in the enlightenment series, we interview Daniel Ingram, the Arhat. Dan created quite a bit of controversy when he came out and claimed enlightenment a few years back. For listeners of our previous episodes, you will know that such a claim is loaded with all sorts of assumptions and implications. Dan joins us in stripping away many of the romantic myths surrounding the ideal of enlightenment and presents his pragmatic model of awakening. We also discuss the future of awakening. Dan is the author of Mastering the Core Teachings of the Buddha and one of the most interesting characters to come out of the pragmatic dharma movement. He stirred up a great deal of controversy when claiming Arhatship and was instrumental in setting up the Dharma Overground; a site dedicated to exploring progress in practice in a lively, peer-to-peer environment and a location where folks make often dramatic progress in their pursuit of awakening. In this chat, we covered the following themes; 1. Daniel's coming out & the impact this had on the Buddhist community 2. His model of awakening and how it contrasts with the views we explored in episode 7.0 3. Exploding popular myths surrounding enlightenment & addressing taboos 4. The political implications of claiming, or not claiming enlightenment 5. Death & awakening 6. Evolving models of awakening 7. The degree to which individuals are willing to 'get enlightened' 8. In today’s session Alan talks about the importance of purification and accruing merit in order to proceed quickly along the path. The Sanskrit term for merit is punya, and it literally means power. It is that which propels you along the path. And if you want merit to really flow, then think about what Atisha said about the ability to accumulate merit once you have achieved shamatha. Another way to supercharge your merit according to the Buddha is by concentration on suchness, which means emptiness. And finally, when you develop bodhicitta you accrue merit, and once you are on the level of engaged bodhicitta it will just be an ongoing flow of merit no matter what you do. That’s for accumulating merit. And how to purify? Well, how about shamatha, insight into emptiness and bodhicitta? If you might think that all this emptiness and Dzogchen stuff is just too way up for you, you can’t really do this, then this is one of the three types of laziness, the laziness of putting oneself down. So no excuses, especially since Alan lists the remedies for all three types of laziness! The realizations e.g. of emptiness don’t appear out of the blue, they come from hearing, reading, trying to figure it out, meditating about it, and sooner or later a true understanding will arise. This will still come and go, so you need shamatha to stabilize it, and to get so familiar with it that it becomes the natural way of viewing reality. After the meditation we return to Natural Liberation, continuing from yesterday’s topic of viewing hatred from the perspective of rigpa. Alan gives an advice that he himself has received from Gyatrul Rinpoche when anger comes up in the mind: Don’t be troubled, just look at it and try to trace it back to its roots. The same can be done for the other poisons; craving and delusion. You can trace them back to their relative origin, which is substrate consciousness, and from that perspective all three poisons are nothing other than luminosity, bliss and non-conceptuality. But here in Padmasambhava’s text they are seen not from the perspective of substrate consciousness, but from the perspective of rigpa, and that means that they are nothing other than the three aspects of primordial consciousness: mirror-like, discerning and Dharmadhatu. Padmasambhava states that from the perspective of rigpa hatred never comes into being, is empty of location, and doesn’t go anywhere. Which means, you can’t even lose it. If an Arhat thinks that he has cut hatred at its root, that isn’t really true. You just reduce it back to where it comes from, or better to say, it releases itself if you can rest in rigpa. Alan references different buddhist schools of thought regarding what happens when a sentient being, who has realized nirvana, dies. After exploring the Pali canon, he looks more widely and brings us back to our current meditative practice: pristine awareness (rigpa). Following a brief explanation of the text in ‘Natural Liberation’ (p.125) there were two questions: - one on nyam - and one on being lucid in dreamless sleep. Meditation starts at 01:05

In this afternoon session, Alan Wallace gives a 24-minute guided meditation on loving-kindness as it extends out in all directions: a wave of benevolence. He also describes the distinction between self-centeredness, or self-cherishing, and loving-kindness towards oneself. Finally, he touches on the importance of imagination while attending to the realm of possibility in addition to the realm of actuality. During the question and answer period, Alan answers the following questions: 1. Is the substrate consciousness conditioned? Is it impermanent? What are its causes and conditions? Does an Arhat realize rigpa at the time of death, and if so, does that mean they attain Buddhahood? 2. What are pointing out instructions, and what is the distinction between different types of realization? 3. What is the source of sexual energy? How does one deal with sexual energy while in retreat? 4. What is the antidote for intoxication with hedonic pleasure? 5. What is the role of walking meditation in the practice of shamatha?
This afternoon Alan started by pointing out the modern tendency of being very harsh and strict with ourselves, and the need for Compassion. He then proceeds by diving down to the very root of suffering, considering the hypothesis that all mental afflictions stem from the grasping and reification of "self" as separate, autonomous, and self-existant. He aludes to the Vajra essence, showing how the symmetry of the substrate is broken and the sense of "self" coagulates and differentiates itself from the space, followed by the arising of appearances also as "other" and finally as the mind activates it conceptually imputes objects from those appearances we directly see. Using a few other examples, we see that it is pretty evident that all suffering comes from the reification and grasping of self, me and mine. The only thing left for us to do is investigate this hypothesis, bringing wisdom and compassion together into practice. After the meditation, we have a brief comment by Alan about the Vajra Essence (Dudjom Lingpa) and the relative "simplicity" of the path, followed by some interesting questions from Malcolm. He built on on an earlier question about being a Bodhisattva without knowing it, now extending it to "Is it possible for a Sotāpanna (stream enterer) to be one with out knowing it." Alan said yes, but then really unpacked the question, focusing on the importance of not taking things out of context. He highlights his skepticism of many modern ways in which people are practicing Dharma, and talks a little about debunking false claims of realization. He also talks about how these new Dharma experiments can cause you to fool yourself into thinking you have genuine realization, uniquely combining a story from the suttas with Mark Twain.Along the explanation he comes upon the debate of "momentary Samadhi" being enough for Vipassana practice and the problems with this allegation, pointing to the following debate: http://www.mahasi.org.mm/discourse/E24/E24ch01.htmThere is also a part where Alan speaks about a connection between Mahayana and Christianity, and Elizabeth explains how the Christian Saint Josaphat is actually a mistranslation of Arhat, and reveals the fact the The Buddha was actually canonized! She says there is an article on her website, which is here: http://buddhist-christian.org/Well, I think this description has gotten out of hand with the length. So I'll leave you with this still from David Cherniack, representing the distortion that occurs when taking Dharma out of context!
The Diamond Sutra is a Mahayana sutra from the genre of Prajnaparamita ('perfection of wisdom') sutras. In this series Norman will referernce the Diamond Sutra - Red Pine Edition. This is the fourth talk in this series. Diamond Sutra 4 By Zoketsu Norman Fischer | November 12, 2008 Abridged and edited by Barbara Byrum and Deborah Russell Last time we were discussing the Diamond Sutra and the earlier Buddhist path of the arhat, the path of renunciation. We feel our own pain, and we know that there is something to be done; there is something to let go of, so we let go. We renounce. But, then, maybe we get attached to that brilliant sacrifice that we have made, to our renunciation and our sense of identity with the renunciation, to our holiness, and to our difference from others, who have not yet done this great thing that we have done. In contrast, in the bodhisattva path - the path of emptiness and compassion - we don't have the imperative to take a moral action, which is to renounce self, the world, and so on. Rather than the compunction to take a moral action, we have an ontological commitment to seeing that things are empty of anything that could be held on to. We understand that there is nothing to renounce, and there is nobody to renounce anything. Even if we do renounce something, we know that it is not an actual renunciation. So we are liberated from renunciation, and we are liberated from our sense of our difference from others. We are fully identified with others as non-others, and so, without any others, naturally, just living is an act of compassion. In other words, there is nothing but love and compassion, because we have realized that there is really non-difference. So we love the world and others as we love ourselves. Life by its very nature is loving-kindness, no matter what goes on. You know the wonderful phrase in the Zen koan, speaking of compassion, "It is as natural as reaching behind in the night for your pillow." Nothing special, just that natural action to bring comfort to a weary head, whether it is your own or someone else's. It hardly matters. So in the Diamond Sutra a shift is being proposed from a religious act to what I am calling an ontological commitment; to an understanding of the way that the world really is. So let's read Chapter 13: This having been said, the venerable Subhuti asked, "Bhagavan, what is the name of this dharma teaching, and how should we remember it?" The Buddha told the venerable Subhuti, "The name of this dharma teaching, Subhuti, is the Perfection of Wisdom. Thus should you remember it. And how so? Subhuti, what the Tathagata says is the perfection of wisdom the Tathagata says is no perfection. Thus it is called the 'perfection of wisdom.'" "Subhuti, what do you think? Is there any such dharma spoken by the Tathagata?" Subhuti said, "No, indeed, Bhagavan. There is no such dharma spoken by the Tathagata." The Buddha said, "Subhuti, what do you think? Are all the specks of dust in the billion-world-system of a universe many?" Subhuti said, "Many, Bhagavan. The specks of dust are many. And how so? Because, Bhagavan, what the Tathagata says is a speck of dust is no speck. Thus it is called 'a speck of dust.' And what the Tathagata says is a world system, the Tathagata says is no system. Thus it is called 'a world system.'" The Buddha said, "Subhuti, what do you think? Can the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Fully Enlightened One be seen by means of the thirty-two attributes of a perfect person?" Subhuti said, "No, indeed, Bhagavan. The Tathagata, the Arhat, the Fully Enlightened One cannot be seen by means of the thirty-two attributes of a perfect person. And why not? Because, Bhagavan, what the Tathagata says are the thirty-two attributes of a perfect person, Bhagavan, the Tathagata says are no attributes. Thus are they called the 'thirty-two attributes of a perfect person.'" This is the famous and strange logic of the Diam...
