So. Much. To. Talk. About. This. Week! We have a week of Zendikar Rising Standard under our belts, and it has been very revealing... of how busted these Omnath decks are. Neither aggro nor control has been definitely able to keep them down, and midrange is a laughable joke by comparison. We discuss the different angles we and others have been taking to attack this deck: Monogreen Aggro by Rumti. Gruul Adventure by Jason Fleurant. Azorius and Dimir Control by Covertgoblue and DanyTLaw. The announcement of an announcement didn't help any, leading us to speculate which cards will get banned on Monday. We were all pretty sure an Uro ban was incoming, but we didn't think that alone would be enough to correct the format... we shall see, we shall see. Find DanyTLaw on his Twitch ( https://www.twitch.tv/danytlaw ) stream and YouTube ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcEPNGW21KW-w8Ae4Bts2xg ) channel. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we took the holiday weekend off. But, WE'RE BACK...with a brand new commander. This week we played around with the now defunct mechanic Recover the create an Azorius god who wants to cast cards FROM THE BEYOND!!! Recover: Recover [cost] (When a creature is put into your graveyard from the battlefield, you may pay [cost]. If you do, return this card from your graveyard to your hand. Otherwise, exile this card.) I also discuss my Olympic career, and once again have some wild beers from our unofficial sponsor Southern Grist Brewery.

In part 2 of the Ravnica Allegiance Frontier review we cover the remaining cards such as the multicolor, artifacts, and lands. We start by going guild by guild and discuss how they fit into the already existing archetypes of the format. If you're an Orzhov, Azorius, Gruul, Simic, or Rakdos player you'll want to check it out. Multicolor cards are always more powerful and we thought quite a few were good enough to make it into Frontier. They might also be good enough for Pioneer!

Lost to another player’s voltron’ed up commander, who also went on to win the game. Game two - Was able to get an infect counter on every player at the table. Got out Seedborn Muse and Karn’s bastion. The player on my right won with a combo where he had infinite mana and card draw, cast Enter the Infinite, put season’s past on top of his library, used beast within on all of our permanents, then uses reality shift to mill out libraries. Game 1 Urza comboed off on Turn 4 Game 2 Urza comboed off on Turn 5 Edgar Markov played by Ivan The Ur0Dragon played by Simon Michael Rite of Replicationed a Woodfall Primus and left Ivan (playing Edgar with a single plains). However, Ivan had Azor’s Gateway, and eventually flipped it, adding 40ish mana each turn Simon (Ur-Dragon) took out Michael Ivan (Edgar) used Forerunner of the Legion to find Mirror Entity. I had Raff in play and a Contagion Engine, and I politiced Ivan to attack Simon (otherwise I’d wipe his team of 1/1s) On my turn, I cast Karn Liberated, and exiled the flipped Azor’s gateway. Riku of Two Reflections played by Michael Game 3 Everyone played lower powered decks Ryan Games We Played 408.2 -> 113.3 Commander Rules! Helmed by Raff Capashen, Ship’s Mage The idea here is that I can flash in Planeswalkers on the person to my right’s endstep, and then untap and wrath away all the creatures https://archidekt.com/decks/117406#Azorius_Super_Friends Planeswalkers - 23 (This might be too many) Tell the story of how TH does Hypergeometric Distribution In probability theory and statistics, the hypergeometric distribution is a discrete probability distribution that describes the probability of successes (random draws for which the object drawn has a specified feature) in draws, without replacement, from a finite population of size With 20 PW it’s roughly 80% chance to draw one on Turn 1, and it goes up from there 2 Gideons, 4 Jaces, 2 Karns, 2 Narsets, 3 Teferis, 2 Tezzerets, 2 Ugins Could have Ultimated Karn Liberated the turn I played him (but that’s not super fun). This podcast is the sixth in my Ravnica guild series. In this podcast, I talk about the Azorius Senate, the white-blue guild.
The duo dig into their middling success (due to lack of skill or time is up for debate) on Arena, and dig into options for modern and Arclight Phoenix decks.
What better guild to slow everything down than Azorius? Let's make everyone lobby and do paperwork before they can play EDH. It's a beautiful puzzle to behold. Not quite like a hand-made rug, but more like ENRON's code of ethics. Join Kyle, Andy and special guest, Austin from CMDR Ninety Nine, as we close out the guild series with a rousing discussion of what Azorius is up to in the Commander realm. Austin takes us on a tour de force of his build for Lavinia, Azorius Renegade. Andy then explores the idea of the Persistent Petitioners taking up their, well, persistent petitions with Grand Arbiter Augustin IV as the CEO of their lobbying firm. And stay until the end to see if Andy has a curveball for the Petitioners. Check out Austin's Lavinia deck right here: Also, be sure to subscribe to CMDR Ninety Nine's channel for gameplay and more deck techs: Be sure to watch our gameplay videos on YouTube, and feel free to join the podcast conversation there. Tonight we talk mostly about the Anthem Demo and our thoughts about it. Having played it or at least repeatedly attempted to play it... we have things to discuss from our feelings about various Javelin types to the general feel of the gameplay. Additionally we talk a bit about Ravnica Allegiances which officially came out this week. Kodra and Bel have been drafting some on MTG Arena and talk a bit about the mechanics that they are enjoying. Topics Discussed Anthem Demo Ravnica Allegiances

The dorks are live at the Ravnica Allegiance Prerelease! Brian, Mike, and Chewie went to House of Cards in Winston-Salem, NC to partake in this sweet guildy goodness! Brian got his second choice (Gruul, they were out of Orzhov), Mike got his first choice (Gruul), and Chewie asked for the least popular guild and ended up with Azorius! How'd we do? What'd we open? Who is this weird guy whose name is almost Chewie's? Find out these answers and more in this episode of The Mana Pool! Ravnica Allegiance has started peeking out from the Christmas presents, so we're looking at the mechanics! Remember this was recorded on Thursday, so we didn't have the Azorius mechanic yet. Sorry about that. We're also checking out the promos and whatnot while we're on the Allegiance kick. Then it's time for reflection. We're going to look back at Magic's 25th anniversary, for better and worse. After trying to make sense of it all, let's take a look forward. What are we expecting or hoping for in 2019? What are YOU hoping for next year? Thank you all so very much for everything! We hope you have a fabulous holiday season if that's your thing, and we'll see you all next year!
