This interview is why I do my podcast- to talk to GREAT artists about the inspirations behind their art and their process. Joe is incredibly candid and funny in this wide-ranging conversation about the effects of being shut off from the world by Covid had on him. You'll get goosebumps hearing how Joe approaches making music (it will surprise you). Hear cool details about his days in the bands "James Gang" and "Barnstorm," how he moves so effortlessly from bands to solo work and back to bands, how he taps into the different voices he shows in his work, and how he played angry in his 20s but doesn't now. He has a revealing, fun story of how Glenn Frey and Don Henley of "The Eagles" described him and much more.
Damon gets to talk to Dave about his upbringing in a musical family, Broadway, teaching, Experience Camps and so much more! There's other segments too, like music news, iconic recordings, gig alerts and more.

Tony Dokoupil is on the road in three key battleground states, beginning in Michigan. This morning, he's in suburban Detroit, in one of the counties that President Trump flipped from blue to red in 2016, and is being hotly contested again. Meanwhile, the president is focused on some other critical states in the West, holding rallies in Arizona today after visiting Nevada yesterday. More than 28 million Americans reportedly have already cast their ballots in this election. Over the past week, we've seen massive early voting lines in multiple states, part of what's expected to be a record turnout. Economic stimulus negotiations are expected to resume today on Capitol Hill, after months without an agreement. The U.S. has been reporting the highest number of new coronavirus cases since the summer, as hospitalizations are up in at least 30 states. The case against five of the men accused of plotting to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is heading to a grand jury.
Singer/Songwriter/Multi-instrumentalist Cameron Mitchell is NOT just another musician in New York City; he balances being an in-demand side man with co-fronting America's party band "The Barnstorm," while finding time to write, record and release his own beautiful record Masquerades and Grand Parades. We hang in his new (living, breathing) Maplewood New Jersey home to discuss the record, his songwriting process, beefs with Jake Owen, playing the Super Bowl and the Masters, playing celebrity weddings, and what it's like to be really proficient at baseball and not go pro. Cameron is super good at everything he does. The dude is an ace human: sweet, honest and as cool as it gets.

President Trump new budget arrives on Capitol Hill. It will never pass, but it's sure to be a campaign year flashpoint. It includes deficit spending well past when candidate Trump promised to erase all red ink, and Democrats say it proposes heartless cuts to food stamps and education. The day before the New Hampshire primary our final CNN tracking poll shows a two-way race for first between Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg. It also shows Amy Klobochar making a final weekend move. Can she make a statement by running stronger than the struggling Joe Biden? The President is in New Hampshire tonight, too, for his first post-impeachment rally. We'll hear from his GOP challenger, former Massachusetts governor Bill Weld insists his GOP primary challenge is not a fool's errand. In a world that smashes people's dreams, it's refreshing to hear some stories from a human who's had their dreams come to fruition. Seth Ondracek lives the dream (by working his ass off), having arrived in New York six years ago from Omaha, Nebraska with nothing but a P Bass and the desire to make his living. His stories of personal transformation are that of legend and all in the commitment of serving the music. He is now the bassist for some of the coolest bands in NYC: Motherfeather, Hollis Brown and America's Party Band, The Barnstorm (!). We sit down with a Pamplemousse La Croix* (natch) and get the scoop on why he only has black basses and animals, why he made major lifestyle changes to improve on his music, and how he became the king of Omaha at age 21. *I appresh the article about how they are getting sued and how it's toxic. Thank you for sending my way, loves. I'm WAY TOO FAR GONE. If La Croix is what does me in, just let me enjoy my remaining days with a few of them. Save yourself.
Republican Gov. Scott Walker will face state School Superintendent Tony Evers in November, as a result of Tuesday's Democratic primary. The attacks happened immediately. The Republican Party of Wisconsin announced on election night that it would run TV ads, attacking Evers for not revoking the license of a teacher who viewed pornography on a state computer. Evers responded by saying that state law at the time wouldn't allow him to revoke the license, because students did not see the pornographic materials.
In the 2013 documentary History of the Eagles, the late Glenn Frey describes his bandmate Joe Walsh as “an interesting bunch of guys.” The statement is meant to be comedic relief, there to set up the story of how the wild, unpredictable Joe Walsh — the one famous for hotel room trashing antics — ushered in a new chapter of the Eagles’ late-70s hedonism. But, if you take a closer look, the description rings true for his musical sensibilities, as well. Few places can it apply more aptly than 1973’s The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get, Walsh’s second solo album in collaboration with his band Barnstorm. Though the album would come to be remembered mostly for its lasting arena rock hit “Rocky Mountain Way,” Walsh explores all of his musical personalities, from the dad rock shredder to the softer, more introspective, singer-songwriter to the psychedelic-influenced long-winded jammer. In this episode, we dig through the varied influences Walsh pulls from, discuss Barnstorm members' individual contributions, unpack the multitudes Joe Walsh contains, and more.

Joe Walsh - Turn To Stone Those American girls gave brilliant performances on the gym floor in Beijing this year, even when the odds seemed stacked against them. (No way in hell that all of those Chinese girls were at least 15. Just no friggin' way.) I was immediately impressed by Nastia Liukin's elegance and fluidity, but, damn girl, maybe you could smile a little?! I don't think she cracked a grin until she triumphed in the All-around. Perhaps it's a way of psyching out her opponents or something. I don't know. I began to think of her as "Stone Face." So, here's today's flashback, from the 1972 album, Barnstorm, here's Joe Walsh with Turn To Stone, in honor of the Stone Face and her Olympic feats. (Note: I prefer this version of the song to his 1975 reworking on So What.)
