Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast we are talking to actress Jessica Pinfield, daughter of VJ, DJ, personality & record executive Matt Pinfield. When we booked Jessica for this episode, we had lots of questions that may have seemed superfluous. What we got was anything but. Jessica was incredibly open and honest about her father, her mother and her family in ways we simply did not anticipate. What we thought might be an interview about what it was like hosting MTV's 120 Minutes or USA Network's Farmclub.com became a much deeper dive into addiction, parenting, therapy, Covid and even murder. Jessica spoke her truth about things we rarely talk about in person, let alone a podcast. Yes we talk about what it was like hanging out with dad when he was trading in records at the Princeton Record Exchange and answering phones at WHTG in New Jersey as well as hearing her story about growing up in a household not feeling love from either parent. Thankfully, a lot of growth has taken place over the years and dad and daughter are living together now, mending fences and connecting in ways it would be hard to imagine they could even a few short years ago. So if you think this episode is about the ‘wild and wacky days of MTV's golden years' this isn't the podcast for you. It's a brutally honest episode that frankly, we didn't see coming. It's next, on the Rarified Heir Podcast. Everyone has a story.

Corrections (because we don't always get it right when we're recording):1. The Scrabble word Shawn said was "fergulous," not "Fergalicious." But let's be clear - neither are real words.2. The seven dwarves are: Dopey, Grumpy, Sneezy, Sleepy, Happy, Doc and BASHFUL. Bashful was the missing dwarf we couldn't think of.3. Subsequent map checking confirms that Holland, where Anne Frank lived, is definitely north of France, but it also shares a border with Germany. So Jane and Olivia were both right.4. Link to Tim Gunn's "Where's Andrae?" moment and Santino's continued impression on "Project Runway": https://youtu.be/FzUH6wjU46A.5. When Henry and Shawn discuss the caves, Henry said he used to "roust punks" from there. 6. The TV show Olivia would have known Steven Weber from is "iZombie," in which he played the evil CEO of the energy drink company that turned people into zombies.Affiliate link to the song "Waltz of the Little Swans" (Op. 20, Act II) by Tchaikovsky. Well the boys finally did it. They took a recording from years ago that was the spark that led them to doing the podcast now you love so dear. Sure they ripped it off some other podcast called Basic Cable, but that's Lucas's problem not Zach's. Also drinks were flowing this night and you can definitely tell. Oh wow, you know what they say about riding a bike? Podcasting after an eight month hiatus is not like that. But Lucas and I got back on the mic to talk about some shows that frankly, just didn't do it for us, and shared what's been on our TV minds since April. It's not perfect, but when is Basic Cable ever the pinnacle of fine audio production? Bear with us as we get out podcast legs back. Special thanks to J, for being my expert of the week on all things FA!

Who knew Amy Schumer would have such a delightful cooking show? WE DID. Because her schtick is LITERALLY just Basic Cable in the kitchen. We cover a ton of trash TV that's in no way good for us, and then Carlie's excellent mom returns for a quick segment about the return of Detective Elliot Stabler to a TV near you. Carlie and Katie also talk about the most recent developments to the Varsity Blues scandal -- there's really something for everyone!

Join Christian Bladt and Stephen Lemieux to discuss the latest 2 episodes of South Park! It's One for the Ladies tonight as Fecal Implants are the newest trend, but Tom Brady's spicy turds are the hot menu item; and then Scott Malkinson finally gets his day as a new diabetic girl enters the school and the Mandalorian gets sabotaged. Comment below! South Park is an American adult animated sitcom created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone for the Comedy Central television network. Intended for mature audiences, the show has become famous for its crude language and dark, surreal humor that satirizes a wide range of topics. The ongoing narrative revolves around four boys—Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick—and their bizarre adventures in and around the titular Colorado town. Parker and Stone developed the show from two animated shorts they created in 1992 and 1995. The latter became one of the first Internet viral videos, which ultimately led to its production as a series. South Park debuted in August 1997 with great success, consistently earning the highest ratings of any basic cable program. Subsequent ratings have varied but it remains one of Comedy Central's highest rated shows, and is slated to air through at least 2016. The pilot episode was produced using cutout animation. All subsequent episodes are created with software that emulates the cutout technique. Parker and Stone perform most of the voice acting. Since 2000, each episode is typically written and produced during the week preceding its broadcast, with Parker serving as the primary writer and director. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Jayson and I return to The XO Show this week with lots to discuss. We open with the battle of the evil empires -- the YES Network vs. Comcast (or why the Yankees hate us part 2). For the record, my $200+ cable bill is only for BASIC CABLE - no movie channels. Grrr ... 11:00 more Peyton Manning (I know, know). 22:00 We discuss CC Sabathia's post on The Players Tribune (and it still somehow comes back to Peyton). 26:30 A-Rod redemption. 33:00 we talk to Double G's own Chris Nalwasky (@ChrisWasky) who was at Rutgers pro day and gives us his thoughts on players to watch. 45:00 we discuss Erin Andrew's settlement and Hulk Hogan and my disdain for Barstool Sports* *Descriptive, NSFW language. 53:00 Jayson and I defend our hot takes. 55:00 we talk about Chase Headly's suspension being overturned, and the ramifications of that. 1:02:00 I met a guy at my bar who works for MLBAM. Jayson and I discuss how much MLB is out of touch, and we profess our undying love for Adam Silver. (@cjzero, @nick_pants, @World_Wide_Wob, @baldvinny all get a mention). 1:00:09 we finally get to the Knicks and Kurt Rambis. Dumpster fire ensues, WTF IS THE TRIANGLE? Also, I've never seen Hoosiers, and get the requisite shit for it. 1:15:00 NFL free agency, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and what are the Jets options?
Vinyl recorded to cassette. Saturday, January 9th, 2016. BODY.

In case the title didn't give it away, this week we honor the arrival of South Park: The Stick of Truth with a Top 5 about other games based on basic-cable TV shows, and somehow manage to mess even that up by including a network show! Can you imagine? Also, Anne busts out another "guess the game by its Steam reviews" game, and we give a listen to some of your favorite victory sounds.
