Matt Damon as Jason Bourne is back in the first of many sequels! This time he has to try and remember all of his memories by tracking down another old man who made him do a Treadstone. It's got action! A car chase! More things from the first movie! It also has Paul Greengrass taking over directorial duties with a script sort of from Andor's Tony Gilroy. Marc Bernardin is the co-host of a popular podcast with filmmaker Kevin Smith entitled “Fatman Beyond.” He spent 13 years as a journalist for Entertainment Weekly and worked for other publications before and after. He then boldly transitioned from covering the entertainment industry to being part of it. He is now a TV/film/comic book writer who has written on shows such as Castle Rock, Treadstone, Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and many more. In 2023, he released his first short film, Splinter. His appearance on the Hall of Justice coincides with a new fundraising project to raise money to make a feature-length film entitled “Deepest, Darkest,” which takes place in the “Splinter-Universe.” In this episode, Bernardin explains the evolution of his entertainment career, and how he got connected with Smith to do their podcast. He also discussed some key topics in the superhero genre including superhero fatigue, criticizing story, and when political issues intercede with superhero content. Bernardin has launched a Kickstarter to raise funds for Deepest, Darkest. That link can be found here: http://kck.st/3YZVeaO.

“A House Is Not A Disco,” is the directorial debut of one of my favorite actors, Brian J. Smith. From his co-starring roles from “Stargate Universe” to “Sense 8;” to “Treadstone” and the time-hopping “Class of 09,” Brian has portrayed nuanced and soulful performances with just the right amount of coming dread or authority, (he needs to grow his hair out sometime, lol). This documentary debut is about The Pines, a staple of Fire Island and a haven for the lgbtq community. This is one of my favorite interviews. The Continental: From the World of John Wick & Treadstone
Matty P Radio Presents: Marks v. Pros & Saturday Morning Cereal
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world, and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon. This week, we celebrate May the 4th and the silver anniversary The Phantom Menace with writer, podcaster Marc Bernardin. Snap hiss back to a more civilized time. A time before, the internet, podcasts, reaction videos and the scummiest & villainous of them all the “Fandom Menace”. Star Wars had been out of theaters for 15 years. GI Joes, Transformers, TMNT and even The Power Rangers had taken over toy shelves across the USA. And then came a movie that changed it all… Meet Joe Black. Well, not exactly Meet Joe Black but rather the world debut of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace trailer and we haven't stopped talking about Star Wars since. Have you accepted Jar Jar Binks as your holy savior? Join Grim Shea, Marke, Johnny Heck and The Retro Cool Nerd Jimmy Leszczynski as they blast back to 1999 and where they were physically & psychologically for the theatrical return of Star Wars. Recorded live from the Golden Apple Foundation booth at WonderCon 2024, our guest Marc Bernardin is a monster of modern fandom. He's written for LA Times, Hollywood Reporter, Entertainment Weekly and staff writer for Alphas, Castle Rock, Treadstone and Carnival Row. He's co-hosted Batman Beyond with Kevin Smith and The Battlestar Galacticast with Tricia Helfer but he comes to use as a comic book writer on the new Mace Windu series for Marvel. And if if his cred couldn't get any more incredulous, he's also written for DC & Image Comics where in 2018, he won an Inkpot Award by CCI. I have a good feeling about this!
RETURN TO TETH! Where it all began in The Clone Wars (2008) droids no longer congregate at the top of the mountain, it's clones. Not just any clones.. This week we chat about The Bad Batch Season 3 Episodes 6 & 7. Kyle joins us again this week and we chat some star wars news and headlines! The entire Bourne Identity/Treadstone saga gets an absolute round of applause for all of it's many violent, edgy, clever and surprisingly brief witty moments thanks to megafan/podcaster-in-crime Corby Stephens! Why are audiences so ADD and not able to focus when you can clearly see what's going on? Why was Treadstone show cancelled? Why did Jeremy Renner deserve another shot at appearing as Aaron Cross? And why is the whole universe just one of spy movies's ultimate examples on how to properly world build for this genre? And more pats on the back to Universal's proper Action/Mystery crowdpleasing saga! Tim Kring is a television writer and producer. He created the hit sci-fi drama ‘Heroes', which became a global sensation - running for four seasons and winning him both a BAFTA and an Emmy nomination. Tim got his big break on ‘Knight Rider' in 1985, and since then he's worked on some of TV's biggest shows like ‘Chicago Hope' and the Jason Bourne spin-off show ‘Treadstone', going on to become series creator for many flagship programmes, such as ‘Crossing Jordan' and ‘Touch'. In this in-depth interview, Tim candidly reflects on his long and varied career, and tells us what Hollywood is really like from the inside - warts and all; takes us behind-the-scenes on how TV shows are made - from the initial idea, to seeing the results on screen - including the casting, production and politics challenges along the way; and reveals how he wasn't prepared for just how profoundly his hit show ‘Heroes' would change his world view.
The last in our 3-part series with special guest Brendan O'Driscoll from Treadstone. Brendan talks about the cost of waiting to buy a house relative to the recent rate hikes, we share some unfiltered feelings about Zillow and Rocket Mortgage, and we do our worst Jack Nickolson impressions from A Few Good Men. Enjoy!
When you meet Josh, aka @joshuahoodbooks, you don't initially know if he's angry, super-focused, or thinking about something else. Then, as you unwrap the conversation, you'll see he's a thoughtful, introspective, and guy who has a mad talent to write. On Episode #64 of The Thriller Zone, I'm happy to spend a bit over an hour speaking with this driven, opinionated, and (again) talented young man. He's served his country in the 82nd Airborne, as a sniper team leader on a SWAT Team in Memphis, he's been awarded the lifesaving medal for an act of heroism in the face of danger, and when he's not doing all that...he's tending to his young son Jake, and daughter Marlow. Do me a favor; heck, do us both a favor, and carve out an hour to hear Josh's thoughts on what it takes to craft a successful writing career, and what it was like to be offered the job of writing a Robert Ludlum book, carrying on the legacy of one of the greatest thriller writers in the world. But most impressive? Could be the discussions on his observations on the mind's ability to adapt to change, the topic of "neuroplasticity," what he reads in his spare time (when not writing thrillers), and what his protagonist ADAM HAYES is doing in his latest thriller, THE TREADSTONE TRANSGRESSION...as well as what he's got up his "tatted sleeves" next! For more info on Josh, visit: https://JoshuaHoodBooks.com (JoshuaHoodBooks.com) and follow him on Twitter @joshuahoodbooks. The 2nd installment of our 3-part series with special guest, Brendan O'Driscoll. The co-founder of Treadstone Mortgage, Brendan talks about the power of giving and how success should not be defined by the amount of money you have, rather the amount of money you give. A tremendous lesson along this PoFU journey...happiness and self-fulfillment is the key. While money can buy you freedom and time, money has no value if you are miserable. Brendan and his amazing wife, Christine, have chosen to do great things with their money including support for Guiding Light Mission (www.guidinglightworks.org), Family Promise of Grand Rapids (www.familypromise.org), and substantial investments in The New Growth Project (www.newgrowthproject.org). Please consider supporting these causes or find something within your own community and contribute!
