Iedereen heeft het over de Kamasutra beurs, maar waarom doen we daar nog steeds een beetje lacherig over? Daar praten Jordy en Christel over met een sexuoloog. Hij bekommert zich om het wel en wee van het enige overgebleven zoetwatergetijdengebied in Europa: de Biesbosch. En ja, dat is volgens boswachter Harm Blom bijzonder, omdat het allerlei buitengewoon leven aantrekt. Vooral uit de lucht. Neem de visarend, kraanvogel en ijsvogel. Maar de Biesbosch is ook het thuis van veel reeën, bruine korenbouten en bevers. Genoeg dus om goed voor te zorgen. Harm doet er ook alles aan om de Biesbosch op de kaart te zetten, want we mogen er best trots op zijn. 

Als twee vissers op 14 januari 2014 in de Biesbosch een teen uit de grond zien steken, kan nog niemand bevroeden wat hieraan is vooraf gegaan. Door een zeer oplettende informatie coördinator achterhaalt de recherche de identiteit van deze jonge Poolse man. Maar dan begint het speurwerk pas écht. Huisarts Danka Stuijver maakt zich boos over deze zorgcowboys en roept verzekeraars op tot actie. Het is de laatste Spijkers-uitzending van de maand, dus zoeken twee dichters traditiegetrouw een gedicht uit bij het nieuws van deze maand. Deze maand in Dichter op de Actualiteit: Yentl van Stokkum en Martin Rombouts. Omwonenden van een nieuw AZC in Dordrecht krijgen wel een heel bijzondere subsidieregeling aangeboden: ze mogen voor 1000 euro aan hang en sluitwerk installeren in hun huis. Gemeenteraadsleden John van der Net en Abdullah Uysal gaan erover in discussie. Dat Eric Cantona geweldig kon voetballen wist iedereen wel, maar dat ‘ie ook kan zingen.. Volgende week vrijdag treedt ‘The King' op in Amsterdam met zijn eigen muziek. Sportjournalist Michel Doodeman zag hem eerder in Londen optreden en vertelt wat we kunnen verwachten. Sinds een aantal weken vaart rondvaartbedrijf Zilvermeeuw met een elektrische rondvaartboot in de Biesbosch. Het familiebedrijf trok hier miljoenen voor uit. Volgen er nu nog meer boten uit de vloot? De vorige keer in de Biesbosch stond Gisbert voor het eerst oog in oog met de almachtige visarend. Nu zijn ze bij de Dordtse Biesbosch om op zoek te gaan naar de temminck strandloper. Ja mensen hij is van ver gekomen. Hoewel de visarend een prachtig beest is. is de moeilijkheidsgraad om hem te zien niet heel hoog (hij zit daar nu gewoon op zn nest). De Temminck strandloper daarintegen is een echte vogelaars vogel. Nadat de bever lang was uitgestorven in Nederland is dit beestje in 1988 opnieuw uitgezet in de Biesbosch. Het gaat goed met de bever, er verschijnen meer open ruimtes in het landschap en beverburchten vormen een plek waar vissen kunnen schuilen voor roofdieren. Met al deze ecologisch-architecturale aanpassingen creëren bevers een dynamische hotspot in hun leefgebied. Deze nieuwe dynamiek brengt ook botsende belangen met zich mee, bijvoorbeeld wanneer een weg doorzakt omdat een bever daar een gang onder heeft gegraven. Hoe liggen de verhoudingen in het grensgebied tussen Mensenland en Beverland?Irene van der Linde schrijft voor De Groene Amsterdammer over de grenzen van Europa en schreef eerder al een stuk over de integratie van de wolf. Bij beide interesses gaat het om een proces waarin groepen zich aan elkaar moeten aanpassen. Albert Verlinde pakte zijn moment op het podium. Ook voor Daniëlle Oerlemans is het feest: ze viert een maand lang haar vijftigste verjaardag. In this episode of the WW2 Nation Podcast, we hear veteran Peter Davies recall his wartime experiences serving in No. 1 Troop of B Squadron of the 1st East Riding Yeomanry as a gunner on a Sherman Tank during the Second World War. He had originally enlisted with the RAF as a wireless operator, but then was transferred to the Army which at that moment had been desperately short of winless operators. Having landed on D-Day, he and his crew fought all the way through to VE Day where they finished up in the area of Biesbosch. They were incredibly lucky, as despite suffering several glancing blows - 'Bandit' - Peter's tank was never knocked out. This episode is the first of a few instalments from this interview, that I did with Peter back in December 2019, it has been split into a few different parts, of which I will be releasing on the Podcast over the coming few weeks. Hij was 21 toen hij in de Biesbosch begon en daarmee de jongste boswachter van Nederland. ‘Polder Maltha, is mijn favoriete plek in de Biesbosch. Ik heb hier zelfs vier jaar gewoond met de bevers en de vogel wielewaal als mijn buren.' Boswachter ecologie van Staatsbosbeheer Thomas van der Es over zijn geliefde Biesbosch en zijn nieuwe baan als boswachter op Texel. 

De bever, toch een bewoner van onherbergzamer streken dan de stad -denk aan de Biesbosch- wordt steeds dichter bij de steden gezien. Ook Geert denkt dat het een kwestie van tijd is dat de bever zich vestigt in grotere stadsparken met veel water. En dan de pestvogel. Wat een plaatje... Bart heeft hem nog nooit gezien en lijkt daar bijna in te berusten. Maar Geert heeft goed nieuws voor mensen met een lijsterbes of een gelderse roos in de tuin!

Op 19 november 2021 is het exact 600 jaar geleden dat de Sint-Elisabethsvloed plaatsvond. Volgens de overlevering zorgde deze storm ervoor dat het waterige gebied dat we nu als Biesbosch kennen ontstond. Bovendien zouden er hele dorpen verdronken zijn en duizende mensen omgekomen zijn op die noodlottige nacht van 18 op 19 november 1421. Recent is echter boven water gekomen dat we die overlevering misschien met een korreltje zout moeten nemen. Deze week weer een inspirerend interview met natuur- en landschapsfotograaf en auteur Marcel van Balkom. Hij begon met het fotograferen in de Biesbosch en organiseert nu reizen naar het prachtige Ijsland. In deze aflevering vertelt hij wat hij mee maakt op zijn reizen, waarom hij fotoboeken uitgeeft en geeft hij tips om een betere landschaps- of natuurfotograaf te worden. We gaan in gesprek met Liselotte Gatzen, op afstand, en aan tafel met Elio Barone van Leefwerf de Biesbosch, Jos Hubens van Vereniging de Binnenvaart. Bas de Zwart praat over de geschiedenis van Big Rivers en deze nieuwe versie Back to the Rivers. Leden van de Raad van Toezicht vertellen over hun taak binnen de organisatie en Norman van Holst vertelt over zijn terugkomst naar het eiland Dordrecht. Geen live muziek van Skeftum maar wel als gast zanger Chris Kirch. Samen met live muziek van Brassociety en muzikant Maarten Teekens maken zij deze Back to the Rivers special compleet. Hoe was het in de Biesbosch? Wat betekent Planken Wambuis? Drink je melk uit een glas of een mok? Kortom: heel veel vragen en heel veel antwoorden in deze veertiende aflevering van Tegeltjeswijsheden.

De nieuwste cd van Camerata Trajectina bevat een fraaie verzameling van kleine rampenfilmpjes. Door de eeuwen heen hebben we op rampen van allerlei aard, overstromingen, branden, plagen etc. gereageerd op een culturele manier. Onder andere door er liederen over te maken en te zingen. Dominees namen het voortouw bij deze collectieve rouw. En al hadden ze de neiging om de ramp apocalyptische trekken mee te geven om hun religieuze boodschap te ondersteunen, sommigen waren beslist niet gespeend van literair talent. Hoe dan ook, hoe mooi dat kunst en cultuur een voorname rol spelen in het verwerken van gebeurtenissen die het verstand en de kwetsbaarheid te boven gaan. Dat hadden we ons bij de corona-pandemie ter harte moeten nemen. Die is niet de eerste ramp die ons treft, en vast niet de laatste. Ik sprak erover met hoogleraar neerlandistiek Lotte Jensen (Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen). Zij doet een groot onderzoek naar de manier waarop rampen cultureel verwerkt worden. Het maken van liederen is daar een van. Zij werkte nauw samen met Camerata Trajectina. Dat nu een kleine staalkaart biedt. Vanaf de St. Elizabethsvloed (die de Biesbosch deed ontstaan) tot aan de Watersnoodramp van 1953, en zelfs Corona. Esther Naomi Perquin schreef het meest hedendaagse lied over een ramp dat je je kunt voorstellen, en Willem Wander van Nieuwkerk schreef daar de muziek bij.  Het is al met al een vergeten genre dat op een verrassende manier het verhaal vertelt van Nederland: met die eeuwige strijd tegen het water, die soms domweg verloren wordt.

Honderden keren gaan ze met kano's en roeiboten door vijandelijk gebied van bezet naar bevrijd Nederland. Ze worden de liniecrossers genoemd, een verzetsgroep in de Tweede Wereldoorlog. De nachtelijke tochten gaan vanuit Sliedrecht door de Biesbosch naar Brabant. Ze brengen inlichtingen voor de geallieerden naar het zuiden, helpen onderduikers ontsnappen en nemen eten en medicijnen mee terug. “De crossers hebben levens gered”, zegt Jelle Simons in het Rijnmondprogramma 'De Verdieping'. Zijn boek Liniecrossers, frontkoeriers van het verzet is deze week verschenen. Simons heeft jaren onderzoek gedaan in archieven in binnen- en buitenland. Geen van de 21 liniecrossers is nog in leven. Wel spreekt Simons met nabestaanden. De nabestaanden van één van de leiders van de groep - Bertus van Gool - hebben de Stichting Liniecrossers Sliedrecht opgericht. Voorzitter is Willem van der Vlist, hij is getrouwd met een kleindochter van Van Gool en één van de initiatiefnemers voor het boek.

In Via Cultura Weekend Magazine ontvangen wij deze keer Kitty Westgeest, projectleider van het Wervenpark (een mini-Biesbosch met historische elementen) op Stadswerven Noord, Esri die vertelt over Inter Amicos, de toneelvereniging die komend jaar 125 jaar bestaat, fotograaf Kees Dijkman over zijn fotoreportage van het schip voor ‘Rivier, boot, stad', Edward Clydedale Thomson die voor het Dordts Museum dit project ontwikkelde en Conny Taheij over de voedseltransitie en verantwoord eten dat lokaal wordt verbouwd.

De Avifauna van de Biesbosch, Volgermeerpolder krijgt krabbenscheer, zaden verzamelen voor de genenbank en ons landschap dreigt hagelslag te worden.
