Tamara Fowler has dedicated her career to babies, children, and their families. As Founder and CEO of Wiggle Giggle Playtorium, this indoor playground and event venue is just the latest of her pursuits to help children develop, and to support their families. With Bachelor's degrees in Biology and Nursing, and a Master's in Secondary Education, Tamara has done everything from teaching high school Chemistry and Physics, to Nursing in Labor and Delivery, and Fertility and Family Planning. As a wife and mom to a 3 year old, when she created Wiggle Giggle, Tamara did so with a vision of kids learning, growing, and playing all day, and parents in Marietta, Georgia having a safe place for their children to explore. Raised in Roswell, Georgia, Tamara was a student athlete in high school and attended Spring Hill College on a basketball scholarship. She also coached various sports when she taught at Stone Mountain High School, and was a leader for Black Girls Run in its early days. Thus, she knows first hand that children learn more than techniques of a game and use of motor skills through play. They're being exposed to community building, networking, empowerment, and mutual support in the time they spend interacting with newfound friends. Moreover, parents benefit from the same thing. While their kids imagine-up big adventures, they're exchanging stories and tips, and finding people who understand their lived experiences as parents. When Tamara and her partner returned to Georgia with an almost 2 year old, after spending 7 years away, living in California, Virginia, and then Maryland respectively during that time, these were the things they sought out. They would drive for miles, exploring places where their daughter could practice using her courage and social skills, and parents could engage in dialogue with one another, which meant they spent a lot of time commuting with a toddler. With Wiggle Giggle as the only indoor playground within a 10 mile radius, Tamara recognized and seized the opportunity to fill this need other parents in her immediate area seemed to share. With party bookings taking place before Wiggle Giggle's doors were opened by neighbors and classmates from their daughter's school, attendance of over 400 people at the facility's grand opening, a collaborative partnership with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, private event reservations from her Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. members, local public figures, and more, Wiggle Giggle has received an outpouring of support, the Fowler family is overwhelmed with gratitude for being embraced by the community.Riverside.fm A platform for podcast interviewingBuzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched! This episode focuses on the ins and outs of what it takes to become a black business owner in today's economy where we're faced with a inflation and a mild recession. My guest, Malik Chamblain, a Business Credit Coach/CEO of ULeverage Capital that provides financial literacy, consultation, provides a business credit builder program that teams you up with an financial advisor, and financial opportunities to business owners. For starters, he mentioned the fact that "how you build something is how strong its going to stand". He broke down what should be considered when starting off your business; come up with a name and google it to make sure it doesn't already exist, create an LLC, apply for a virtual address, sign-up to get a professional phone number for your business, start a business bank account, and create a website. The purpose for having these things done in the initial stages of you starting your business is to first establish yourself as a business, one that the banks can take seriously when considering approving you for a business loan. In our community, we often times make mention of "generational wealth" but Malik spoke about what it means to have and establish "sustainable wealth"; wealth that can be maintained and passed down to your kids and family. We also get fixated and prideful about word "ownership", which Malik mentioned is fine but what good is it to own something at 100% and not make much or any money from it? The quote he used was a powerful one. "Would you rather own 100% of a grape or 50% of a watermelon?" Building a successful business and ultimately selling is what successful business owners do as well as buying up businesses. As a business credit coach, he touched on the importance of establishing your business credit and all that it takes to do so; for instance, paying your bills early and in full puts you in good financial standings and helps establish a financial relationship with the banks. He also said that it's okay to apply for multiple business loans from multiple financial institutions likes banks and or credit unions and not look to get all of what you need from one place. In the event that you're not able to get approved for a loan, if you work a 9-5, be able to save money from that to go towards your business ventures to help you start your business. It's with the understanding that in order to make money, you have to spend money, wisely and responsibly. For information on how to become a successful business owner, what financial opportunities are out there for you take advantage of, or consultation on how to sustain a healthy business, you can find him on Instagram @leveragewithmalik. For a consultation or guide to building a healthy and successful business, visit his website at www.uleveragecapital.com and the viewers and subscribers to this show will receive a 25% discount from his company to have a financial advisor walk you thru the process of being a successful business owner. Be sure to put in the comments of your online application " Speak To The Mic Podcast" to have that discount be applied. Much love and appreciation to Malik for being on the show to share this very important and helpful information.

We traveled to Charleston, South Carolina to sit down with model, female entrepreneur, and artist, Venita Aspen. At 16 years old, she didn't see anyone that looked like her in magazines and TV ads, shortly after she started her modeling career to help change that. She also shares with us what it's like to be a black female entrepreneur in the South. As an influencer, we talk through comparison and how social media oftentimes grows our insecurities and hinders our work. Towards the end of the conversation, we discuss through what it's like to own your own business and prioritize what's most important. Her modeling carreer has lead her to work with companies like Target, Old Navy, and Anthropologie. She also runs her own creative agency servicing clients around the world. I can truly say I left this conversation a better person thanks to Venita and her story! "People are power, and if you want to get something done, people have to not be afraid to stand up for what they believe is right." -Venita AspenLink to the video version on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5atVy4P9BI
