These days it is not unusual for fans to wait over a year for a second season of their favourite series. But five years??That is the situation for When Hope Calls, the spinoff to the popular period piece drama When Calls the Heart. The shot in Ontario series returns April 6 on Super Channel Heart & Home in Canada and on Great American Family in the United States.A lot has changed in five years including the casting of the two leads. The two Canadians at the heart of the series now are Cindy Busby (best known for several seasons of Heartland) and Christopher Russell, my guests this week on brioux.tv: the podcast. Busby plays Nora, a lawyer who travels by stage coach to the western Canadian town of Brookfield. Russell plays the new mountie in town, Michael "Fearless" Fletcher.Before you can say "1916," a pioneer romance ensues.Returning to the series is Wendy Crewson as no-nonsense lady rancher Tess Stewart.  The first new episode will also feature Morgan Kohan -- who has moved on to Sullivan's Crossing -- as Lillian Walsh. Now that I'm in a better headspace both in life and with the card channel, I decided it was time to start catching up and watching what I missed last year. There couldn't have been a better time to do it than with neck muscle spasms that kept me mostly immobile for a weekend, so here's a look at nine 2022 movies I finally got around to watching. Absolutely don't miss Romance in Style and A Splash of Love starring Benjamin Hollingsworth. A Tail of Love is a lot like Love and Sunshine but still a watch in my opinion. Welcome to Mama's and Pumpkin Everything were both good movies, but they just lacked something that would make them rewatches, while Love in the Limelight could have been good without Alexa and Carlos' weird married chemistry on screen. Cindy Busby solidified her role as a photojournalist in Marry Me in Yosemite, and HMM had a good out West movie with Big Sky River. Finally, Dating the Delaney's was such a cute concept for Hallmark, sign me up for more content like that. This week, I review Hallmark Channel's newest movie Warming up to You starring Cindy Busby, Christopher Russell, Devon Alexander, Caitlyn Stryker and LaTonya Williams. Directed by Christie Will Wolf. I had very low expectations with this movie. Between the fat shaming in the promos and the fat suit on Chris, I had a feeling I wasn't going to like it. But I gave it a try anyway. Movie was ok. It was not the worst Hallmark movie of 2022. Still belongs to another Chris Russell movie "Where Your Heart Belongs". I liked the chemistry between Chris and Cindy. This is their third movie together, so it has to be there. Lol. The scenery was beautiful. and I can't believe they inserted a Bridgerton reference on a Hallmark movie. Like WHat?!?! But I didn't like the ableism, fat shaming, "exercise cures everything even depression" which it doesn't. So much eek. There were some awkwardness too in plenty of scenes. Like the play fighting and stuff. I would like to see Cindy and Chris in other movies with costars they've never worked with before. I feel like between the scenery and the same cast, this felt like Chasing Waterfalls 2. I would like to see Cindy work with Nathan Witte next. And Chris with Nikki DeLoach. I think giving both actors a different scene partner would be nice. Gave it 2/5 stars. May is AAPI month. On Instagram I have made collages highlighting actors of Asian and Pacific Islander descent. News and Notes about Hearts Down Under Hearts Down Under originally aired on Netflix Australia in 2020 under the title Romance on the Menu. The movie was filmed on location in Australia, specifically in Queensland. It's been reported that some of the small village scenes were shot in the suburbs of Shorncliff and Sandgate on the Brisbane Coastline. Hearts Down Under was filmed in December 2019. Australia closed its borders to foreign travelers in March 2020 due to the global pandemic. Lemon Myrtle Cove and The Seagull Cafe are fictional locations. Rob, Nathan and Lube are three friends at Great Falls High determined to succeed in their mission of manhood and score with the ladies of their dreams. After some uproarious attempts with less than successful results, they accidentally discover a legendary guide to seduction hidden in the school library. It turns out to be a rarely-seen often-sought manual about the secrets to sexual success, penned by some of the school’s previous generations. But a few missing pages leads to hilarious surprises for everyone...including the alumni. There were those who called him Icarus. Everyone else knew him as a divorced father working for an investment company. But they didn’t know his other side—his dark side. Because Icarus (Dolph Lundgren) was at his best when he was killing people. For years, he’d worked as a sleeper agent in America—but when the Soviet Empire collapsed, he found himself in a foreign country with no one to trust. The Informers is a multi-strand narrative set in early 1980's Los Angeles, centered on an array of characters who represent both the top of the heap (a Hollywood dream merchant, a dissolute rock star, an aging newscaster) and the bottom (a voyeuristic doorman, an amoral ex-con). Connecting the intertwining strands are a group of beautiful, blonde young men and women who sleep all day and party all night, doing drugs -- and one another --with abandon, never realizing that they are dancing on the edge of a volcano.
