Miami is once again one of the biggest stories in college football, and this episode dives into whether "The U" is officially back. The crew debates Mario Cristobal's impact on the program and whether Miami's rise should be credited primarily to Cristobal's recruiting and culture-building or to the arrival of elite talent like Cam Ward. From rebuilding the roster to restoring Miami's national relevance, the discussion centers on how the Hurricanes have returned to the championship conversation. The conversation then shifts to new starting quarterback Darian Mensah and the controversial path that brought him from Duke to Miami. The hosts discuss Mensah's talent, his fit in Miami's offense, and why many believe he may be an upgrade at the position. They also examine the arrival of star receiver Cooper Bar-Kate and how Miami's offense could be even more explosive in 2026. On the defensive side, the crew breaks down the challenge of replacing NFL-caliber talent such as Rueben Bain and Akheem Mesidor while highlighting the next wave of Miami defenders ready to step into larger roles. With Jason Taylor continuing to develop elite defensive linemen and several highly regarded recruits waiting in the wings, the Hurricanes appear positioned to maintain one of the ACC's most talented defenses. Finally, the hosts analyze Miami's 2026 schedule game-by-game, debate the toughest tests on the slate, and discuss whether the Hurricanes can navigate key matchups against Clemson, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, and Florida State. The discussion concludes with predictions for Miami's season record and whether this roster has what it takes to compete for an ACC Championship, College Football Playoff berth, and potentially a national title. Is Miami truly back? The guys make their case and explain why the Hurricanes may have their best opportunity in years to reclaim college football's biggest stage. In this episode of The College Admissions Process Podcast, Dr. John Durante welcomes back Rick Barth, Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Clemson University, for an in-depth conversation about Clemson's increasingly competitive admissions landscape. With more than 65,000 applications submitted this past cycle, Clemson continues to experience record growth while carefully managing enrollment to maintain quality and student experience. Rick shares how the admissions team evaluates applications in a highly selective environment, including transcript review, academic rigor, and the role of institutional priorities such as in-state enrollment and high-demand majors.Listeners will gain insight into Clemson's use of the STARS self-reported academic system, how the university evaluates students within the context of their high school (including an internal ranking system when schools do not provide class rank), and what academic benchmarks signal readiness—particularly for STEM and engineering applicants. Rick also discusses the realities of test-optional admissions, noting that approximately 40% of admitted students apply without scores, while providing context around Clemson's middle 50% ranges.Beyond academics, the conversation explores what makes an application stand out. Rick emphasizes authenticity in essays, meaningful engagement in activities, and the value of initiative—whether through part-time work, leadership, or service. The episode also covers support services for students with IEPs or 504 plans and highlights the transfer pathway as a viable route for students not admitted as first-year applicants. This episode offers a transparent, behind-the-scenes look at what it truly takes to join the Clemson family.Clemson University Admissions---------------------------------------

Send us Fan MailThere's a number that explains almost every NC State football loss over the past two years, and it has nothing to do with talent, scheme, or who's lining up around him. Ethan Barry pulled it straight from his own Patreon breakdown: CJ Bailey is 10-1 in his career when he throws one interception or fewer. He's 3-10 when he throws multiple. Same quarterback. Same coaching staff. Completely different team.Layton and Ethan dig into exactly which losses that gap accounts for, the three-interception Duke game, the uncompetitive Notre Dame and Miami showings, the 2024 Georgia Tech heartbreaker decided by a single point. They also revisit the seasons before Bailey, back to Devin Leary and the quarterback carousel years, and the pattern holds up every time: when NC State protects the football, it doesn't matter who's behind center. When it doesn't, nothing else matters either. But this isn't just a look backward. Bailey is heading into a contract-year-sized spotlight in 2026 — bigger money, bigger expectations, and a receiving corps that lost Noah Rogers, Hollywood Smothers, and Justin Joly. Ethan makes the case for why the schedule actually sets Bailey up to succeed this time (no Clemson, no Miami, no Notre Dame on the slate), points to the Virginia Tech home loss as the one game last year he should have stolen and didn't, and closes by breaking down where he'd actually place a bet on Bailey's 2026 prop numbers — and it's not where you'd think.Tuffy Talk is NC State's home for sports talk, hot takes, and everything Wolfpack. It's a bridge episode, but we still got business to handle. Sparty MSU breaks down the six recruits Pat pulled in over the last two weeks — linebackers, corners, a big tight end, and a D-lineman with serious upside. We talk about what the size-first philosophy says about where this program is headed and whether the receiver room is a real concern heading into the season. Then we get into the real stuff — the Big Ten and SEC are going to war with Congress over the Protect College Sports Act, and we've got thoughts on why a collective bargaining agreement is the only real answer. Plus, the NCAA's new age-based eligibility model is heading to a vote this month, and we break down what it means for the future of the game. And of course — Kevin G watch is officially in effect. As of tonight, he has not signed with Clemson. The door is still open. We talk about what he's done right, what he hasn't, and who could step in if it comes to that. In this episode of Hit The Books, Brad Powers and Joey Knish dive into one of the most debated topics in all of college football right now: which head coaches are actually being overrated by the market, the media, and fan perception. The conversation gets heated quickly as they break down the gap between reputation and real results across the sport. Mario Cristobal at Miami comes under the microscope, with discussion around elite recruiting versus actual on-field execution and whether the results truly match the hype. Dabo Swinney's Clemson tenure is also heavily debated, especially as questions continue to grow around whether the program has adapted enough to modern college football after recent down years. The guys also take aim at Lincoln Riley and whether his offensive brilliance is being overshadowed by deeper program-building concerns at USC, especially after expectations shifted following his arrival. Coach Prime and Colorado are brought into the mix as well, focusing on whether early momentum can realistically be sustained in the new transfer portal era or if regression is coming. From there, the debate escalates into some of the biggest names in the sport. Steve Sarkisian at Texas is questioned in terms of win consistency versus roster talent and program investment, while Kirby Smart at Georgia sparks one of the most controversial takes of the episode, with Brad and Joey challenging whether results fully match the national perception of dominance in today's college football landscape.
Former Alabama national championship quarterback Jake Coker joins Mick Gillispie on Last Call to discuss the changing future of college football, conference realignment, and the growing debate over the College Football Playoff. Could the SEC and Big Ten eventually separate from the NCAA and create their own college football governing structure? If that happens, should the SEC expand by adding major brands like Florida State, Clemson, and Miami? Mick and Jake break down why the SEC and Big Ten continue to hold the most value in college football and what that could mean for the ACC, Big 12, Notre Dame, and the rest of the sport. The guys also dive into the future of the College Football Playoff, including the ongoing debate between a 16-team CFP format and a 24-team playoff. Would expansion help college football, or would it weaken the regular season by allowing too many multi-loss teams into the postseason? Plus, Mick and Jake discuss the end of “cupcake” games, the push for better SEC scheduling, Notre Dame's independent status, ESPN's influence on the playoff, preferred kickoff times, and the latest on Alabama athletics — including Alabama football, Alabama softball's Women's College World Series run, and Alabama baseball hosting St. John's in the Super Regionals. In this episode, we introduce a new game called “Bed or Built,” where we take some of college football’s most repeated narratives and decide whether it’s time to put them to bed or if they’re still built to last. With the 2026 season creeping closer, we sort through the stories that have followed programs, coaches and fan bases for years, and ask which ones still make sense in the current version of the sport. We dig into Mario Cristobal and Miami, Matt Rhule’s turnaround reputation, Lane Kiffin’s chaos factor, Ryan Day’s “born on third base” label, Texas A&M’s hard ceiling, Oregon’s late-season hurdle, Clemson’s attempts to adapt, James Franklin’s big-game baggage and the difficulty of following Nick Saban at Alabama. Along the way, we get into the transfer portal, coaching hires, College Football Playoff expectations, roster-building, fan perception and how quickly old narratives can become outdated.
