*WARNING* This episode contains discussion about suicide. Listener discretion is advised. Carley Crain felt lonely. Away from her college friends, confused about her career path, drowned in student loan debt, and frustrated by social media algorithms that told her she was failing, Carley started feeling an all-consuming sadness that she couldn't shake. She wanted a way out. But she didn't take it. Instead, she sought the help she needed. And now, through her work at Connections Peer Support, she's offering services to those who struggle with the very issues Carley was (and still is) navigating post-college. In today's conversation from my makeshift studio in downtown Portsmouth, Connections Peer Support Community Outreach Director Carley Crain and I discuss: My past mental health issues (00:00) Manchester's bad reputation (04:00) Battling depression and anxiety (08:30) Carley's hospitalization (14:00) Social media's impact on mental health (19:20) The benefits of peer support (21:07) Changing the narrative around suicide (31:35) Mental health struggles for the LGBTQ+ community (43:20) What's your mission? (56:00) Carley Crain is the Community Outreach Director for Connections Peer Support, a peer support center with locations in Portsmouth and Northwood, N.H. Peer support is a non-clinical method for treating mental health issues, and it's FREE. A product of Hooksett, N.H. and a graduate of Springfield College, Carley studied sports journalism and sociology in college. She's also a proud advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. --For more information on the offerings at Connections, visit ConnectionsPeerSupport.org. More About MJAs a Texan, wife, mother, and successful entrepreneur, MJ has a big heart for her family and community. After almost 20 years in marketing, project management, and entrepreneurship, MJ channeled her wide breadth of industry experience and shared her passion for helping women. When MJ lost her twin daughter, Desiree, at birth, the reality of not having the proper support from family, friends, and the community around her was devastating. She not only lacked guidance when being released from the hospital, but she did not know how much she truly needed mental, spiritual, and physical healing. This traumatic event prompted her to start Little Angel Network later. She is passionate about helping women during one of the darkest times of their life, and she vows to be the light and support to women worldwide. We provide grief care packages to hospitals and birthing centers to provide to families who have lost a child during pregnancy or birth. Our aim is to bridge the gap with after-hospital care for women and families to receive professional counseling, spiritual support, and physical and nutrition guidance.Connect with Little Angels Network@littleangelnetwork (both Facebook and Instagramwww.littleangelnetwork.org or Michelle, Community Outreach Director at 832-702-9851.Phone Number | 8329732229Email Address | MJ@littleangelnetwork.orgGet Involved Private Label Event Wine for A Cause on March 23rd from 4-7 pmSip & Support on April 25 from 4-9 pmEach month we have fun and exciting events, visithttps://www.littleangelnetwork.org/2023-event-calendarThanks for listening to Serving the Community Podcast. Today I had the joy of interviewing my good friend Chelsea MacAdam about homelessness! Chelsea is the Community Outreach Director for Oaks Village. Oaks is a nonprofit in Monroe, Michigan that works to “rebuild our community, restore families and repurpose individuals.” On any given night, there are 190 homeless people on the streets of Monroe county. The team at Oaks works to feed, house, provide medical care, connect resources with, & simply love the people of Monroe!November is Homeless Awareness month in Michigan! We discuss several key points, including ways to support your community, the barriers people face while accessing social services, and removing the stigma surrounding seeking support. We dive into things well-intended people do that are not actually very helpful, along with how to be mindful of the accessibility of nonprofits you're donating to! Most importantly, we talk about honoring the holiness of people experiencing homelessness & how building relationships with others drives us to want more for all of our neighbors. This work is imperative, especially as the weather gets colder. May our increased awareness lead to increased advocacy! To get involved at Oaks Village, or to utilize their services, visit their website: https://www.oaksvillage.net/ Here is the link to their Donation Wish List: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1LDQXRRXP43O3?ref=cm_sw_em_r_un_un_lOHv9JbX3CwsX&fbclid=PAAaZAfIHB5SIjK15Qc6pu0yHQaUsgXarHEQblPdmW-B28K3TT0Ca4iVzbLiE

In this rerelease episode, first published in April of 2021, John dares to take on something he seldom does on his own podcast - talking about something he believes to be true: that centuries of confusion (sometimes deliberate, sometimes not) have given history the wrong "William Shakespeare". In this episode, Steven Sabel, an accomplished actor, director, host of the podcast Don't Quill the Messenger, and Podcast and Community Outreach Director at the Shakespeare Oxford Fellowship (of which John is a member) discusses the Oxfordian case, why he's convinced, and how the work of the greatest author in the history of the English language can only truly be understood in the context of the life of their true author, Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford. Check out Steven's excellent podcast, Don't Quill the Messenger

Slam the Gavel had amazing guests on tonight! Dr. Zena Crenshaw-Logal and Belinda Parker-Brown talked about the grassroots campaign spearheaded by both National Judicial Conduct and Disability Law Project (NJCDLP) and Louisiana United International, Inc. (LUI) that addresses America's inadequate judicial oversight as a constitutional and human rights CRISIS with unrivaled success. Dr. Zena Crenshaw-Logal is a former civil trial lawyer turned full-time human rights advocate. Crenshaw-Logal has helped challenge every seriously questionable aspect of America's legal system, working as a Co-Founder and Executive Director of National Judicial Conduct and Disability Law Project, Inc. (NJCDLP) as well as Assistant Chief of Operations for Louisiana United International, Inc. (LUI). The most controversial of these efforts seek appropriate, but dramatic expansion of U.S. state and federal judicial accountability. Crenshaw-Logal is Lead Strategist for Opt IN USA, a grassroots campaign spearheaded by both NJCDLP and LUI that address America's inadequate judicial oversight as a constitutional and human rights crisis with unrivaled success. Distinguished on multiple occasions as a scholar, Crenshaw-Logal is also a prolific and published writer on topics such as this grassroots advocacy, first Amendment Rights, and the dynamics of organized U.S. legal system abuse. She is Chairperson of the Human Rights Committee for the Council of Organizations, an affiliate of the United Nations Association of the USA. Belinda Parker- Brown is an educator, researcher, life specialist, community organizer and motivational speaker who has spent the majority of her career enhancing the potential of others. She is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Louisiana United International , Inc. (LUI) as well as a board member of and Community Outreach Director for National Judicial Conduct and Disability Law Project, Inc. (NJCDLP). Working under the hammer of Opt IN USA, both NJCDLP and LUI address organized U.S. legal system abuse facilitated by unchecked judicial misconduct. NJCDLP does so primarily as a think tank and public policy analyst. LUI does so primarily as a bipartisan social justice organization. Its mission is to champion human rights including the civil, constitutional and societal rights that are all too commonly trampled in today's world. LUI speaks for the person or group that cannot speak for themselves. LUI speaks though Belinda Parker-Brown. In her are glimmers of Fannie Lou Hamer, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X and Professor Angela Y. Davis and this is an AMAZING combination in Parker- Brown's uniqueness and strength. The court system has failed us. There must be prompt, accessible and available resolutions before an independent body. Federal Emergency Management Agency is compared to the Judicial system/legal system being a complete disaster due to UNETHICAL judges and lawyers. Opt IN USA is trying to do is that grassroots campaign that addresses organized U.S. legal system abuse as a HUMAN RIGHTS CRISIS attributable to inadequate judicial oversight in America. International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) compliance and the leverage we all have to insist that the Biden Administration comply with America's ICCPR.To reach Dr. Zena Crenshaw-Logal and Belinda Parker-Brown: http://www.njcdlp.org/ and go to the WAVE page and https://m.facebook.com/LUIaFORCE4Justice/https://www.launitedi.org/***PLEASE SEND YOUR STORIES TO THE ABOVE WEBSITES***http://www.dismantlingfamilycourtcorruption.com/Music by: mictechmusic@yahoSupport the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/maryannpetri)

Addiction. It can take many forms. Drugs, prescription medication, alcohol, sex, gambling, the list goes on. Addiction can tear apart families and leave so much destruction in its wake. During the COVID pandemic, this tragedy has gotten worse. In some communities, overdose-related emergency calls are up as much as 40% and 42 states reported increases in overdose deaths during the pandemic. And it’s not just overdoses taking lives: In 2018, more than 175,000 deaths in the U.S. were related to alcohol and other drugs. That makes substance use the third largest cause of death in the nation. Co-Host Donna Alexander Donna has had her own dealings with addiction, having experienced her first drunk at the young age of 11 and her first DUI at 19. She has been sober since 2008 and has gone on to help others by not only sharing her story but she is actively involved with their recovery journey as the Community Outreach Director for Crossroads for the past 10 years. She is also the co-host of Recovery On Air, a podcast that gets real about breaking the stigma of addiction.

In this episode, John dares to take on something he seldom does on his own podcast - talking about something he believes to be true: that centuries of confusion (sometimes deliberate, sometimes not) have given history the wrong "William Shakespeare". Talk Cosmos celebrates the start of its 4th season with a fascinating show including an independently grouped panel to deliberate our story’s potential restart energy through two celestial timing cycles: The annual Vernal or Spring Equinox on March 20 and the 2nd to last Aries Venus Star Point on March 26! So what is the Vernal/Spring Equinox? It signifies the approximate even balance point between daytime’s sunlight hours and nighttime’s star-light hours. Two equinox points occur between the winter and summer solstice points when the sun’s light is either the least or most in comparison to night. These 4 celestial timing cycles create the global calendar of seasons. Venus represents attraction to what we love and our values, and systematically conjuncts exactly to the Sun’s orbit in beautiful patterns. March 26 the Aries Venus Star Point connects at 5°20?
