Just such a hilarious and well crafted game.  Battletoads speaks for itself, I'm not sure if it's a full blown bmup because of the platforming and speeder bike levels, but they teamed up with Double Dragon so that's gotta say something. River City Ransom is probably the only oddball here. A great semi-obscure NES game that thankfully a lot of people are now aware of thanks to River City Girls. One of my favorite NES titles and up there with Battletoads for me.   the Well-Red Mage — Today at 9:50 AM Shredders Revenge is AH MAH GAHHHHHHHH so good. A beat em up nobody gives enough love to is Fight N Rage. Seriously amazing.   ElPeeDee (Liam D) — Today at 10:09 AM mine has to be Batman Returns for SNES.  I loved the grabbing & throwing mechanics, breaking parts of the environment and the bat gadgets you could employ.  the sprite art was gorgeous and, while I hadn't even seen the movie at that point, I loved the characters   twodollarhero — Today at 10:25 AM For me, it's Scott Pilgrim. Volume 2 ended on a cliffhanger with her seeming to be shot by Katherine Grant. However, she wasn't actually shot by Kat Grant. As Volume 3 starts, we found out that Kat was giving a speech elsewhere. The person who shot her and was pretending to be Miss Grant was none other than the sorceress Selena. However, what she did shoot Supergirl with, has caused her powers to rage out of control. Something that has not been uncommon in the D.C. Universe. If you'll recall our review of Flash Volume 5, negative the Flash also got hit with something, in this case the negative speed force, which caused his powers to rage out of control. So, there's a lot of that going around in the D.C. Universe. However, the main focus of this story is on the battle between Supergirl and the so called Fatal Five, which is led by the Emerald Empress along with the aforementioned Selena, Indigo, Solomon Grundy and Magog. And at first glance this really does appear to be a bit of a motley crew. They're trying to stop Supergirl from doing major damage in the future. Why this is something Solomon Grundy would care about? I really don't know. I guess Grundy can just be relied upon to create menace, you know, doesn't really care much what the reason is and I think he and Magog, for that matter, kind of serve the same purpose in this. While the Emerald Empress, Indigo and Selena tend to monologue quite a bit in explaining their motives, in having conversations with Kat Grant. Some of it, I think particularly Indigo, comes off as just a bit sanctimonious. Emerald Empress has at least a believable motive for why she's doing what she's doing as she believes that Supergirl's going to cause the death of her father but their methods really make it hard to sympathize much with them.Also as part of their plan. in order to undermine the public's trust in Supergirl, Indigo manages to have it exposed that the Cyborg Superman who she fought back in volume 1 was actually her father and that she and the D.E.O., the Department of Extra Normal Operations. are keeping him alive in a tank after all the mess that he created. She tries to explain that she's just showing him the same sort of compassion that people on earth had shown her and I think that's very true to her character. That's very true to who Supergirl is but it's not received well by folks in National City who feel lied to because she didn't reveal her relationship to the Cyborg Superman and I should say there are some one of two Cyborg Superman's. This should not be confused with the Cyborg Superman who was Hank Henshaw in a previous episode on Superman. That's another cyborg Superman. So yeah, D.C. continuity. The story becomes really a pretty big melee with a lot of fighting and action. That's decent enough maybe a bit repetitive. It doesn't go on forever but for quite a while. In the course of it, Supergirl is able to have some surgery performed on her which stops her from literally exploding, which is what the massive increase in her powers was going to do at the start of the plot but she still doesn't have it under control and also Jeremiah and Eliza her adoptive parents get into the act and really ha...

Superman barely has time to adjust to his latest retcon before a team of malcontent supervillains form the new Superman Revenge Squad and declare war on him.Affiliate link included.Transcript:Superman faces his revenge squad and we take a look at it in Superman Action Comics Volume Four: The New World. The return of Superman has been one of the big pluses of the DC Rebirth Event. The DC Universe was rebooted in 2011, more than a quarter century after the last full Universal Rebirth in Crisis on Infinite Earths. In the 1990s Superman married Lois Lane but the younger Clark Kent under The New 52 Universe was a single man, allowing writers to explore the possibility of things such as a relationship with Wonder Woman. In The New 52 event ‘Convergence' it was revealed that the post-Crisis Superman had actually survived along with Lois, and that they had had a son. In the eight-part mini-series ‘Superman: Lois and Clark' written by Dan Jurgens it's revealed that they made it to The New 52 earth, but that Superman didn't want to tread on the territory of the Superman of that world. However, The New 52 Superman went out literally in a blaze of glory, which meant the world needed a Superman and he took over the job full time after spending years fighting in the background. And there were a great many plotlines around people getting used to this new Superman and how they reacted, and those were interesting stories, but that bit of backstory probably wasn't something that was ever going to last. And so in Superman Reborn many questions that have been hanging over particularly the Action Comics title were answered, and at the end of the event The New 52 Superman and Lois emerged and they merged with their post-Crisis counterparts, creating one unified timeline and thus the title of The New World. It reveals what that unified timeline was and provides a retelling of Superman's origin stories, something that they've never done in comics again. And of course we're going to soon get another retelling when Brian Michael Bendis writes his new Man of Steel series, though I'll talk about that after we finish talking about this one.This book, ‘Superman Action Comics: The New World' collects issues 977 to 984, and 977 and 978 begin with Superman somewhat unsure about what's happened to him, and so he goes back to The Fortress to get a unified view of his timeline and concludes everything is fine – not even remembering where the big difference occurred. It's a good enough retelling, it provides some interesting details. Instead of Superman operating at night undercover in a black costume to stay out of his younger self's way, we're told that he and Lois took a sabbatical from The Daily Planet – though given the number of years involved that's a pretty big sabbatical. [He/It?] does a good job of holding the timeline together that there are some problems, particularly when you consider The New 52 Superman's relationship with Wonder Woman, this was never going to be perfect. And then we get into the Superman revenge squad. This is a concept that dates back to the Silver Age but it's been nearly a decade since we've had any active teen. And this one is an impressive one with Blanque – a shape-shifting alien, Metallo, Eradicator, Mongol; and it's initially led by Hank Henshaw as the Cyborg Superman, not to be confused with the one that Supergirl defeated earlier in DC Rebirth. They decide they have to spring General Zod from the Phantom Zone when they're able to do that by breaking into Belle Reve, home of the Suicide Squad. And the story features a good confrontation between Superman and Amanda Waller. The Squad then falls more or less under the leadership of General Zod with Henshaw being usurped, and Zod has a single target in mind.

Welcome to the DC TV Report for the week ending Saturday May 20th, 2017. IAs submitted by Edward O'Hare, nickname To Be Determined. Six new episodes, three of them were penultimate. So many bombshells. So much excitement: Gotham: The Court of Owls broke Captain Barnes out of Arkham Asylum and Dr. Hugo Strange used his blood to make Tetch virus airborne. Kathryn tested Jim by having him watch the gas be released on a small group of innocents. With some help from Oswald and Firefly, Jim took down a Talon and saved the day. The Court later captured Oswald and caged him in a cell next to Ed. Lee continued pursuing her vendetta against Jim, and ended up resigning from GCPD. The Shaman taught Bruce to channel his pain and let go of his rage. Ivy found Selina in a coma and turned her hospital room into a greenhouse. The plants woke Selina up, and she was off to Wayne Manor. Last Minute Reveal: Kathryn wanted Jim killed and Barnes broke through his bonds ready to perform an execution!   Lucifer: Chloe and Lucifer investigated the murder of an orderly at a psych ward. One of the patients claimed to be God and Lucifer learned he might not have been lying. Chloe took a Doctor on a weird double date with Maze and Amenadiel and embarrassed herself asking for help with the case. Lucifer checked himself into the psych ward, broke out Dad, and tried pulling a parent trap with him and Charlotte. Chloe broke up the fun. Turns out the killer was a nurse. After losing his belt buckle, God remembered he wasn't God. Luci and Amenadiel figured out the buckle was a missing piece of the Flaming Sword of Eden that offered divine enlightenment. Charlotte drowned her sorrows in Dave. Last Minute Reveal: Lucifer showed the guy who wasn't his Dad to a taxi and became determined to return to heaven and punish his real father!    Supergirl: Penultimate Episode - Rhea planned to enslave the Earth, proclaim it New Daxam, and force Mon-El and Lena to get hitched. After an Air Force One attack, President Marsden revealed herself to be an alien refugee and ordered Alex to break into the DEO and destroy Rhea's ship with a positron cannon. Cat Grant returned, reminded us why she is the most dynamic character on the show, inspired Kara to go after Rhea, and with help from Winn, inspired all of National City to fight back against the Daxamites. Lillian Luthor and Cyborg Superman helped Kara rescue Lena and Mon-El but pulled a double-cross. When Alex learned Kara was still aboard Rhea's ship, she hesitated and the positron cannon was destroyed. Last Minute Reveal: Rhea stepped aside and let Kara get punched out… by Superman!   The Flash: Penultimate Episode - Barry traveled into the past and brought back Captain Cold to help him break into ARGUS, neutralize King Shark, and take the Dominators' Crystal. The mission was a success (sort of), and Captain Cold returned to the past, advising Barry not to play by Savitar's rules. Tracey continued her romance with HR. Joe and Wally tried hiding with Iris on Earth 2, but Savitar tricked HR into revealing their location. Savitar crippled Wally and snatched Iris. Cisco got vibes of Killer Frost and finally met her in the forest for a final showdown. Barry confronted Savitar on Infantino Street and tried using the Speed Force bazooka but it did not work, and Savitar drew his blade to kill Iris. Last Minute Reveal: As Barry ran, we saw a video message from Iris to Barry reciting her wedding vows. Barry failed to save Iris and held her body in his arms!   iZOMBIE: Liv went “Red” and nearly choked out Blaine but believed he didn't steal the cure. Liv rolled up preschool teacher brains with PB&J and became extremely friendly and encouraging. Turns out the teacher was banging three of his students' moms and was killed by one of their hubbies. Blaine was feeling down until Don stole his brain business and left him, shot in the gut. One of Peyton's cases was blown up by attorney Harry Thorne and the next day the defendant hung himself. Peyton asked Ravi to blue-soak the brain for answers. Major and Justin discovered the Scratching Post. Justin went on a sort-of-date with Liv. Major and Justin tracked down Harley Johns and confronted him on a dark road at night. Last Minute Reveal: Harley ran over Justin, who went “Red”, chased down Harley and jumped on the hood of his car, before getting thrown. Harley took a video of Justin's attack and now has proof Zombies exist!   ARROW: Penultimate Episode – 5 years ago, Kovar injected Oliver with a serum that caused him to feel extreme pain and hallucinate his past failures. A vision of Laurel convinced him not to kill himself. In the present, the team threw Ollie a surprise birthday party. Then one-by-one Adrian Chase had each teammate kidnapped by Talia al-Ghul's army, including Evelyn and Black Siren. Turns out Wild Dog didn't abandon his daughter after all. Quentin met Black Siren and it took time for him to realize she wasn't Laurel. Malcolm Merlyn showed up to help. Oliver learned that his son, William, had also been snatched, tried stopping Chase, but ultimately had to let him escape. Nyssa al-Ghul joined Oliver's cause. Oliver tracked Chase to his old island and set out to rescue his friends. Last Minute Reveal: Oliver entered the ARGUS submarine prison and asked Deathstroke for help!

Since the cancellation was announced, fans have been wondering whether it was due to poor sales, or studio sexism towards Wonder Woman. However, the DC spokesperson told the Guardian that though “we loved the book and we were very excited to work on the collected volume”, the studio was concerned about Dillon's public comments about other teams at DC on social media. In a series of now-deleted tweets, preserved online on Bleeding Cool, Dillon criticised the writing in another DC series, Wonder Woman: Earth One, and complained when DC approved future volumes of Earth One while he was waiting to hear about the future of his own series. “It is an unfortunate situation.
