This week we will spend time in simple, quiet worship. Let's simply focus on God and His goodness. Breathe deep and allow your spirit to connect to His Holy Spirit. Psalm 29 from The Message — A Psalm of David Bravo, God, bravo! Gods and all angels shout, “Encore!” In awe before the glory, in awe before God's visible power. Stand at attention! Dress your best to honor him! God thunders across the waters, Brilliant, his voice and his face, streaming brightness—God, across the flood waters. God's thunder tympanic, God's thunder symphonic. God's thunder smashes cedars, God topples the northern cedars. The mountain ranges skip like spring colts, The high ridges jump like wild kid goats. God's thunder spits fire. God thunders, the wilderness quakes; He makes the desert of Kadesh shake. God's thunder sets the oak trees dancing A wild dance, whirling; the pelting rain strips their branches. We fall to our knees—we call out, “Glory!” Above the floodwaters is God's throne from which his power flows, from which he rules the world. God makes his people strong. God gives his people peace. What words, what phrases stood out to you? What games of God moved your spirit to worship? Listen once again to the final verses: We fall to our knees—we call out, “Glory!” Above the floodwaters is God's throne from which his power flows, from which he rules the world. God makes his people strong. God gives his people peace. As you walk through hardships and the challenges of your life, remember that Your God is the God of the thunder, of the rain, and of glory and power. He has you. He holds you. To make you strong. To give you peace. Let's pray: “Father, I realize Your power. I recognize Your glory. Today, in this quiet moment, I worship You. Thank You for Your strong arm that protects my life. Thank You for Your gentle Spirit to give me peace. As above, so below.”

Prophecy Radio episode #69 invites a very special guest—J. Maya, of “Achilles Heel” fame—to join us and talk about her debut EP, Poetic License, as well as her hopes and dreams for the Percy Jackson and the Olympians soundtrack. Plus, we talk about all the latest news in the Riordanverse, including Winston Chu vs. the Whimsies‘ imminent release date, as well as read and discuss Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian chapter 23. This is the final chapter in the book, which means we've made it to the end of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series!! New episodes of Prophecy Radio air weekly, and all ages are welcome to tune in. News and updates (00:02:36) Happy birthday to Glynn Turman! Don't forget to pick up Winston Chu vs. the Whimsies by Stacey Lee, which comes out on February 7! Read Riordan had a couple articles this week, one in which we're introduced to Dani, as well as the Cowherd and the Cloud Weaver. Congratulations to Yoon Ha Lee (Tiger Honor) and Mark Oshiro (You Only Live Once, David Bravo) who made it into the 2023 Rainbow Book List Top 10 Titles for Young Readers! We have a new Rick Riordan Presents author in Sarah Dass! Kristen is a little skeptical of all these creepy tree stories, but Karen is totally on board. Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 1 has officially wrapped production! It's now time for the show to enter post-production, which involves a lot of editing, music, and visual effects. Did you see all the pictures and videos from the wrap party? It looked beautiful! And Walker's little “Send Help” video was so cute, too! Can you believe it took Rick eight months to notice they'd misspelled his name on his set ID tag? According to IMDb, Jennifer Shirley has been added to the cast as The Oracle. Interview with J. Maya (00:13:12) You are now entering a post-You-Have-Met-J. Maya world! Deferring Harvard Law to build a music career is a huge decision to make, so we're curious what convinced her this was the right choice for her. “Two Roads” is about that very choice, and talks about giving up stability to follow your dream, so we're curious if J. Maya has figured out how to find stability in a creative career like this. Yes, we are definitely all “we'd rather be home reading” people. J. Maya has built an incredible audience for herself, especially on TikTok and Instagram, and we just have to know what her secret is! Social media has its pros and cons, but it certainly allows artists to be authentically themselves and build a community of like-minded people. But we also have to know—how do you avoid getting burnt out from social media? As book people, it's so important to find time to read for pleasure. We're all a big fan of “Prophecies” here. How did J. Maya's parents react when “Achilles Heel” went viral and she decided to quit her job to pursue music? Karen has a lot of feelings about this song, so strap in for this one. Our advice is for all ages! You, too, can achieve your dreams when you are An Old. We get some background information on “Achilles Heel.” What makes Greek mythology (and mythology in general) so captivating? If you love mythology, make sure you check out her song “Golden Age.” And if you're a Percy Jackson fan, you're gonna want to listen to “Library Card” super closely. But that's not the only one that references the series! J. Maya breaks down some of her favorite musicians (and musicals!). Now we're really getting into the Percy Jackson content! Favorite book in the series? Favorite character? How excited is J. Maya about Percy Jackson and the Olympians? We take some time to talk about how important Aryan and Leah's casting is and will continue to be. Plus, let's not forget about Rick Riordan Presents! We play a little rapid fire game matching up genres of music with characters from the book. If J. Maya had her pick of genres or eras of music to put in the show, what would they be? Which scene would she love to write a song for? What does J. Maya have in store for 2023? What are her hopes and dreams? This was such a fun episode, and we're so grateful J. Maya took the time to chat with us! Make sure you stick around for details about our giveaway for J. Maya's debut EP, Poetic License. Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian (01:47:37) It's time to talk about the FINAL CHAPTER—The Last Olympian chapter 23. We're excited and sad at the same time! We wonder how Nico's undead warriors are compensated for their labor. This universe is so rich, and we're always coming up with more stories we'd like to read. We're so glad the Hermes Cabin has a little more space these days. What exactly was Poseidon thanking Percy for?? That joke about Poseidon having other children was a little mean… How did they fit all the names of the fallen on that Empire State Building bead?? We're so happy to see Hestia back at Camp Half-Blood. Annabeth is totally staying in New York City to keep an eye on Olympus' rebuilding and definitely not for any other reasons. Maybe that next Great Prophecy will be decades for now…but it's unlikely. This IS Rick Riordan after all. Isn't it weird how fast we got through these five books? It's great seeing Annabeth and Rachel as friends at the end of this one. We're gonna save our big thoughts on the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series in another episode! Feedback (02:10:35) Here are the composers Henry had in mind for the show. “Run Boy Run” by Woodkid would be an incredible song to have on the show, too! Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 70, where we'll do our What If…? scenarios for The Last Olympian, plus discuss “Percy Jackson and the Singer Apollo.” This episode's hosts are: Karen Rought and Kristen Kranz. Each episode, our Prophecy Radio hosts and their guests will keep you up to date on the latest information coming out of Camp Half-Blood, including upcoming books and adaptation news, discuss a topic of choice, and do a chapter by chapter reread of the Percy Jackson series. Microbiome has been heralded as a next frontier of unlocking the power of biology to drive healthier outcomes. This week, we bring together two pioneers focused on driving those outcomes in animal health: Aaron Schacht, CEO of BiomEdit, and David Bravo, Chief Science Officer at Nutreco. The two companies recently announced plans for a long-term strategic partnership focused on discovery, development and commercialization of next-generation ultra-specialty feed additives called Biom-actives to address livestock producers' health and sustainability challenges. The two leaders dive into the details of their collaboration and what the industry can expect in terms of new products. They also examine the power of partnership, a nice marriage bringing out what both companies do best and the luxury of good timing. David and Aaron also discuss the emergence of microbiome innovation, an environment of complexity creating difficulty for companies' continued ambition and turning that complexity into a competitive advantage. Read the full announcement on this partnership here.

Prophecy Radio episode #51 gets into our next Monster Guide, this time about Echidna and the Chimera. Karen and Kristen also tackle all the latest news, including the title for the Solangelo book, The Sun and the Star: A Nico di Angelo Adventure, as well as discuss Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian chapter 6. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air weekly, and all ages are welcome to tune in. News and Updates (00:02:25) You Only Live Once, David Bravo by Mark Oshiro is now out in the world! What does Read Riordan think of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians teaser trailer? (Check out Prophecy Radio episode #49 for our breakdown.) The same people producing Percy Jackson will also be adapting The Ring and the Crown by Melissa de la Cruz. Mark Oshiro confirms the Solangelo book title is The Sun and the Star: A Nico di Angelo Adventure! And yes, it's probably a reference to Bob. What's the last we saw from Nico and Will? (Listen to Prophecy Radio episode #5.) Monster Guide: Echidna and the Chimera (00:16:38) We decided to put these two creatures together because they kind of go hand-in-claw. This episode is surprisingly relevant to our current reading because Typhon (aka Typhoeus) was her husband. You can pretty much thank Echidna for all the famous Greek monsters you know. We definitely question the anatomy of the Chimera. Sorry, King Amisodarus, but you kind of had it coming. Bellerophon seems like an interesting hero, and we can thank him for killing the Chimera. How did Rick Riordan depict Echidna? We wonder if they'll change her appearance for the show. Are Kampê and Echidna related? Echidna may have stepped out on Typhon to have the Sphinx. Believe it or not, Echidna and the Chimera are one of the only monsters not defeated and sent to Tartarus in all of the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles. How is the Chimera depicted in Percy Jackson and the Olympians? Do monsters adapt their appearances to better scare modern demigods? Mark us down for not wanting to go up against a monster with human intelligence. Chimeras are totally a real thing in the science world. We're always gonna shout out Teen Wolf, and this week we get to do it because they also had chimeras on the show. Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian discussion (00:38:58) It's that time of the week—let's discuss Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian chapter 6. Do you think you'd like Shadow Travel as much as Percy? We need some little monster Beanie Babies from Disney now. Luke's mom is a little scary, especially her eyes. How does this whole Oracle thing work, and is this why the Oracle in the attic is just a dead body? What did we think of Hestia and what she was trying to impart on Percy? Did you realize we've seen her before? If you didn't already love Nico, how could you resist now? Hestia really is a different kind of goddess, and we love that. Paul and Mrs. O'Leary on the same page is just too much adorableness for us to process coherently. Poor Sally has to make a huge decision, and we're kind of glad she's hesitating? The Empire State Building lighting up blue in our world means SO much more now. Feedback (01:13:26) We get a wonderful email from Jubilee, who gives us a What If scenario from Lightning Thief. Nephele lets us know the Iliad and Odyssey mention that the gods have their own language, and we definitely want to know more! Mac also wonders if the symbols will transform into numbers on the flags on the cabins. Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 52, where we'll come up with some ideas for a Percy Jackson board game. This episode's hosts are: Karen Rought and Kristen Kranz. Prophecy Radio episode #46 tackles our What If…? scenarios for Battle of the Labyrinth, which asks how the books would change if one small detail were different. Karen and Kristen also discuss all the latest news, including several superb surprises from Percy Jackson's birthday, as well as begin their journey through Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian with chapter 1. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air weekly, and all ages are welcome to tune in. News and Updates (00:02:01) Celebrating Percy Jackson's birthday was SO much fun. We also got some great presents, like this photo of the trio from the official Percy Jackson and the Olympians account. Rick also put up a blog post on August 18. We discuss the fact that, by design, Percy Jackson is perpetually 17—at least for now. What did all of his friends get him for his birthday? Can you believe THE Empire State Building lit up blue for Percy? Walker's mom is basically Sally Jackson. Cursed Carnival and Other Calamities is back on the NYT bestsellers list, joining Daughter of the Deep and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. (Click on those links to listen to our discussions of the two books.) Rick had some thoughts on Beast, and Kristen totally agrees. Join the Goodreads giveaway for You Only Live Once, David Bravo by Mark Oshiro. Have you met Serwa Boateng yet? Okay, is it a firefly or a vampire? What If…? season 4 (Battle of the Labyrinth) (00:21:15) Let's kick off season 4 of What If…? with our Battle of the Labyrinth scenarios. Karen is wondering what if…Grover had refused Pan's blessing? This was so sad, she almost didn't want to think about it! Kristen wants to know what if…Percy had never met Rachel Elizabeth Dare? Is there another human who could see through the Mist as well as Rachel? Next, Karen is curious: What if…Bianca had never convinced Nico to trust Percy? Is Nico basically the White Ranger of the demigods? Now Kristen is wondering what if…Quintus hadn't helped Luke? Would this have ultimately led to Rachel's death? Bonus question: What if…Luke hadn't survived Kronos' posession? Bonus question: What if…Percy had stayed in Ogygia? Our listeners also write in with questions of their own! Rachel wonders what if…Annabeth found out about Camp Jupiter early? Poseidon Boy wants to know what if…Annabeth had never met Luke and Thalia? Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian discussion (00:54:32) We're changing things up by doing one chapter at a time, so let's discuss Percy Jackson and Last Olympian chapter 1. Lukronos is the worst ship name ever. When does this story take place in relation to Battle of the Labyrinth. How are we feeling about Percy and Rachel Elizabeth Dare? It's only chapter 1, and we're already starting the war! Blackjack is always a good time. And very convenient to have around. Were Percy and Beckendorf willing to kill any demigods or mortals onboard the Princess Andromeda? Shout-out to Paul Blofis! It was maybe not the smartest idea to take on Lukronos single-handedly. Again. Why wasn't getting hit with the scythe instadeath? We also learn that Kronos is basically invulnerable. Note: A saltwater shower is the best cure for being stuck in a time warp. Does Percy feel guilty about letting Ethan Nakamura go free time and time again? This book really starts off with a bang (too soon??), and we were shocked Beckendorf died so early. Who's the spy at Camp Half-Blood? We're pretty sure it's not Annabeth. Last Olympian death toll: 1 Feedback (01:23:09) Henry writes in to ask us if we've seen all the set photos and videos as of late. Welcome to Prophecy Radio, a Percy Jackson podcast dedicated to all of Rick Riordan's past, present, and future projects! Co-hosts Karen Rought and Kristen Kranz discuss the latest news in the Percy Jackson/Rick Riordan Presents fandom (including the fact that Percy Jackson at Disney+ has the greenlight!), then break down the events of the short story “The Diary of Luke Castellan,” as well as analyze chapters 11 and 12 of Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters. New episodes of Prophecy Radio will air weekly, and all ages are welcome to tune in. News and Updates (00:01:20) Yes, we're talking about the Percy Jackson/Disney+ official greenlight! Kristen didn't tell Karen about the news because she HATES HER. The announcement video has over a million views now! It's amazing to see all the other authors who are excited too. What did the press release have to say? The show will be closely aligned with the source material. The people working on the show are so talented and seem like the perfect ones to bring Percy to life. It's taken so long to get to this point, so let's take a second to realize how momentous this is. How will this show being on Disney+ affect the way it's received? Disney+ is coming to 42 more countries. This show will be for tweens, teens, and young adults. Shout-out to the over 30 crowd! We think this show will play well for any age. Karen has decided to get her hopes up. The people at Disney seem excited too, and we can get on board with that. What kind of impact will the show's success have on the Rick Riordan Presents books? A band called The Happy Return wrote a song about Annabeth. Mark Oshiro wrote a new book called You Only Live Once, David Bravo. Be sure to enter our Tiger Honor giveaway! “The Diary of Luke Castellan” by Rick Riordan (00:30:25) Have we ever read this short story before? Let's talk about Luke's narration—did we like it? Thalia is such a cool character, and this was an awesome portrayal of her. But it makes it even harder knowing what Luke has done. Were there romantic feelings between Thalia and Luke? It felt like they'd already gone on so many adventures before this story took place! That goat is classic Rick Riordan. What did the leucrota remind us of? Hal is very old for a demigod. Aren't there enough monsters in the world without Apollo being this extra? Did they ever reference Halcyon Green in the Trials of Apollo series? Is there any reality in which Apollo had a point in punishing Hal? Hal reads Thalia's future and it's…tragic. When was this short story published in relation to The Lost Hero? Could reuniting with her family also mean Annabeth? Luke's future is a little messier… It's going to be so interesting to keep reading with this short story under our belt now. Does Luke's diary ever come back into play? Does Thalia have a bright future? Is Hal to blame for continuing the ruse of the trap? You can really see that this is where Luke's radicalization started. But did we also see a bit of Luke's true nature here? Luke is definitely gonna break some promises. Did you see the map of Hal's house? Wouldn't this make a great flashback episode in the show? Chapter Reviews (01:05:57) It's time to jump into Sea of Monsters chapter 11! We're officially halfway through the book. Clarisse is pretty possessive of this quest of hers, isn't she? We feel very differently about Clarisse now that we're older. Does Clarisse have any friends? Did anyone actually want to come with her? We REALLY don't like Ares. Not that we liked him a ton before. He's a misogynist and clearly abusive. Here's the blog post where Rick meets with the gods. Is Ares the worst godly parent out of all of them? Prophecy Count: 9 Grover is smart to give Percy a heads up about the traps on the island. Okay, so Polyphemus isn't completely blind. Charybdis or Scylla? Either one is pretty terrible. Tyson is the true MVP of this chapter. What does Ares have up his sleeves? We were feeling some emotions in this chapter!! Time for chapter 12! It feels like a trap! But they still fall for it. Thank goodness Annabeth is so smart, though. Turns out Blackbeard was a demigod too! What was with the whole mizzenmast thing? We have a lot to look out for in future books. Kristen does an excellent guinea pig impression. Thanks for listening, and be sure to tune in next time for episode 18, where we'll do a deep dive into the mythology of the furies.
