Story: Die 24-jährige Mae Holland ist überglücklich. Sie hat einen Job in der angesagtesten Firma der Welt ergattert: beim "Circle", einem Internetkonzern, der alle Kunden mit einer einzigen Internetidentität ausstattet, über die alles abgewickelt werden kann. Mae stürzt sich voller Begeisterung in die schöne neue Welt mit ihren lichtdurchfluteten Büros und High-Class-Restaurants, Gratis-Konzerten und coolen Partys. Während sie innerhalb der Firma immer weiter aufsteigt, wird sie vom charismatischen Firmengründer Eamon Bailey ermutigt, an einem für den "Circle" bahnbrechenden Experiment teilzunehmen. Die Teilnahme an dem Experiment und ihre Entscheidungen zugunsten des "Circles" beeinflussen zunehmend das Leben und die Zukunft ihrer Freunde und Familie.
