What does it mean to be a man today? How do young men carve out their place in a world that often feels uncertain about their role? These aren't just abstract ideas but real questions that impact the lives of many men. Masculinity has been celebrated and criticized throughout history. Nowadays, men are encouraged to be open, emotionally expressive, and nurturing partners and fathers. Connor Beaton shares his life experiences, lessons, and advice to future leaders. Teenage life is simply the gateway to adulthood. As they learn the reality that living is not as easy as it is, it is up to them whether they will grow as a person or stay within the confines of their imagination. Tune in as young leaders ask questions about life, personal growth, entrepreneurship, and more! Quotes: "A man's work begins in pain. It's in the confrontation of our deepest struggles that we discover our true strength." – Connor Beaton "Confidence and competence are deeply intertwined. To build true self-esteem, focus on developing skills and mastery in areas that matter to you." – Connor Beaton "Simplicity is almost always the answer." – Matt Beaudreau Takeaways: Celebrate your unique experiences and viewpoints, even if they differ from the norm. Your differences can be your biggest strengths. Face your flaws and insecurities directly; this leads to personal growth and authenticity. Look for mentors and apprenticeships to build skills and abilities before trying to assist others. Set your standards and expectations for relationships instead of relying on societal norms or unrealistic ideals. Value loyalty, appreciate masculinity, and keep a grounded view of a potential partner. Explore new activities and follow your curiosity to find your true passions and potential. Be patient and persistent in creating long-term value and impact instead of looking for quick fixes or shortcuts. This method will lead to meaningful and lasting success. Conclusion: The journey to becoming a man is challenging but very fulfilling. Men can build an authentic and empowering sense of self by facing difficulties, gaining skills, being open, valuing loyalty, and questioning societal expectations. As we rethink what it means to be a man, voices like Connor's highlight the importance of personal growth and self-discovery in this ongoing journey.

The world is changing, and so does men. Nowadays, men struggle to stay healthy, find their desired careers, or manage their families. In our society, the image of what a man is slowly fading away. So, how do you define a true man? Mike Dolce shares her life experiences having a single mother raising their family, him having to work at an early age, his career as a UFC fighter, and being a great husband and father. Tune in as Mike chats about showing commitment, gaining respect, a workman's mentality, the importance of communication with your wife and children, health, fitness, and more! Quotes: “It's the average person with the deepest respect, the everyman, every woman, that's the journey I want to be on.”- Mike Dolce “How I do one thing is how I aspire to do everything.”- Mike Dolce “I want to give my kids everything that I did not have. But I want them to have the same work ethic that I have, which allowed me to create this life that they have the things that I never had.” - Mike Dolce Takeaways: To keep your body at a top level even when you age, you must understand the value of recovering. Focus not on how hard you train but rather on how you can build your program to match your ability to recover. How you treat your body, fitness, health, relationship with your family, and role as a man will reflect everything you do. So keep showing respect for yourself; it will be shown in all of your actions. As a father and husband, you must be clear and intentional about the operating principles inside your home. You have the responsibility to make the decisions critical for the better future of your family. Conclusion: To be a man, you must be committed to your actions. And that comes with being faithful to your wife, children, health, goals, and everything in your life. To be the best version of yourself, worthy of serving and leading others. Don't let society consume who you are as a man; stand up and be an example of what a man really is.

What does it mean to be a man in the modern world? The tides are shifting. Roles are changing. And emotions and vulnerability are now at the forefront. Growing up in a machismo-focused household, award-winning author, speaker, and actor Carlos Andrés Gómez speaks his truth to inspire others and society as a whole to break generations of toxic gender norms. Hear his story and his ways of handling his relationships in the most balanced way. Tune in to this episode: Reimagining Modern Manhood with Carlos Andrés Gómez Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Art should be done within a community. Gone are the days of creating in isolation. Meeting new people, receiving feedback, and hearing different stories are what help us grow as artists and individuals. ✔️ Excavate, don't wrestle. The narrative calls for a more balanced view of gender roles. Be a good example to others so that younger generations can follow. ✔️ Master the dance of knowing each others' strengths. Your partner could have skills that are out of traditional gender norms or some that they just don't have the bandwidth to do. Work together to maintain balance. ✔️ Share your story. Speak your truth through your art. Allow your audience to empathize with you. Poetry and other forms of art are an investigation, not a fixed answer to the issues we face today. ✔️ Accept the glimmer of nonconformity. Be open to more nuanced discussions on gender roles and how it affects our authentic expression. Give yourself permission to go against the grain. --------------- Carlos Andrés Gómez is a Colombian American poet, speaker, actor, and equity and inclusion strategist from New York City. He is the author of Fractures, winner of the Felix Pollak Prize in Poetry, Hijito, winner of the Broken River Prize and a #1 SPD bestseller, and the memoir Man Up: Reimagining Modern Manhood, released by Penguin Random House.  A star of HBO's Def Poetry Jam, TV One's Verses and Flow, and Spike Lee's #1 box office movie Inside Man with Denzel Washington, Carlos' honors include the Sandy Crimmins National Prize for Poetry, Atlanta Review International Poetry Prize, Foreword INDIES Gold Medal, and the International Book Award.  A genre-transcending multi-hyphenate, he partnered with John Legend on Senior Orientation, a program to counteract bullying and champion inclusive masculinity among high school students. Movember - a time to really hone in on the importance of both our prostate and mental health. And this year, we felt it was incredibly important to dissect one of the biggest influences to our mental health (and maybe even to our prostate) - our intimate relationships! The saying goes, "the quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives." So the questions we find here are: how does relational health correlate with our actual health? In what ways does improving our relationships actually improve our quality of our life? How do we actually elevate and improve the health of our relationships? Join us as we dissect all of these questions and more in an effort to improve our overall health as men. Sponsors:MenzLeague: an online personal development platform for men. We spend most of our lives focusing on being successful men... but when do we stop and ask ourselves: who is this "success" really for? Do I want it because it gets me validated and seen by the world, or do I want it because it actually means something to me? Does it allow me to be who I really am, or do I have to wear a mask everywhere I go? Is success what I want, or am I actually scared of playing big? Is it possible that we struggle to find pride in our journey and our moments of success because they don't actually align with us or truly fulfill us? Join us as we unpack success, failure, and the struggle to be proud of ourselves along every step of the journey. We found a huge amount of value in this conversation, and we hope you do too.Sponsors:MenzLeague: an online personal development platform for men. There's a lot of people who joined and asked questions which not only talks about the history of the men's movement, but of masculinity in it's own modern discourse. It was a great discussion and I hope you enjoy it.

Podcast Intro: Men are expected to be strong and mighty. This causes them to keep everything to themselves, not wanting to appear weak. They often keep their emotions to themselves as they believe that they will be used against them once they show their weakness. This prevents them from being happy as they have to pretend what society has imposed on them and hide their feelings. In recent years, society has developed a variety of demands that require a variety of approaches. To meet these demands, men need to adapt. The process of understanding what needs to be done involves growth and development. Angus Nelson is a coach and the founder of Evolve Men Coaching. He is among the nation's leading performance strategists as he helps ambitious men achieve freedom, happiness, and purpose. In this episode, he shares his experience as a coach and his views and insights on the growth, development, and history of men in this lifetime. You're going to be chasing that all the time. It's filling your life with the things that naturally and effervescently give you happiness and joy.”  “Until a man knows who he is, he can never become or be anything outside of that.” “All that identity shifting we did in the beginning now brings about these new opportunities. Because you've upgraded yourself, you want to attract your brain and this equilibrium to attract these higher frequent levels, relationships, experiences, and opportunities.” “Just like everything else, we attract what we are. If we're trying to pursue these great and mighty things, what we find is that those great and mighty things are filled with emptiness. Because we're doing them out of the pursuit of validation.” “Transformation in your life is nothing more than having a context of tools that help you advance your understanding, yielding, and letting go.” “I'm giving myself permission, and that permission is all the power you need.” Guest Bio: Angus Nelson Angus is a man on a mission. If you grew up in the 90s Adam Sandler probably had a large influence on your sense of humour. He likely did not have a large influence on you as an eventual parent, however. While Big Daddy was certainly a more "mature" turn for Sandler at the time, his childish instincts prevented it from being a really touching comedy about fatherhood. Speaking of fatherhood, German Villegas of the Modern Manhood podcast joins us this week. The entire upcoming season of Modern Manhood is all about child development, which put Big Daddy right in German's big damn wheelhouse. Together we try to add some stronger comedic structure to the film while also analyzing Sonny Kaufax's style as a father.
