U.S. banks' fourth-quarter 2023 earnings demonstrated continued pressure on funding costs and minimal slippage in credit quality. The Street largely took the results in stride, but management teams were hopeful that net interest margin pressure could subside in the second half of 2024 and credit quality would hold up in the face of a higher for longer rate environment, according to Gerard Cassidy, co-head of global financials research at RBC Capital Markets. In the episode, the veteran analyst said he shares that optimistic outlook and believes the current environment is more similar to 1995 when the U.S. economy digested sharp rate hikes by the Federal Reserve and likely will not result in a severe downturn like some investors fear. Cassidy believes bank stocks are a show me story but does see further catalysts on the horizon. The analyst also offered his outlook for bank M&A activity.

Lorenzen Wright played 13 seasons in the NBA and was Memphis Tennessee's sacred son. He went missing and was found shot to death several days later. Tanna Togstad, and her boyfriend, Timothy Mumbrue, were found stabbed to death in Tanna's Royalton, WI farmhouse on March 21, 1992. Police identified Tony Haase as a suspect after a DNA sample was taken from him during a traffic stop. Neil LaFave was a DNA warden who was killed in the Sensiba Wildlife Area in Green Bay by 21-year-old Brian Hussong. 14-year-old Aundria vanished from her home on March 11th, 1989 recently after accusing her adoptive father, Dennis Bowman, of molesting her. Dennis told authorities she had stolen money and left home. Aundria was classified as a runaway for decades. Jeffrey Moreland quit his job as a police officer because of a Parkinson's disease diagnosis. He assaulted and murdered 2 women, one of which was his ex-girlfriend's mother.
