Roy Jenkins and guests discuss human rights and the Football World Cup with a live audience at Wrexham Glyndŵr University. The panel discussion is part of a range of programmes being broadcast by BBC Radio Wales in Wrexham this weekend to mark the Wal Goch Festival of Football. The Football World Cup is just a week away and it's the first time Wales has qualified since 1958. It's also the first time the World Cup has been hosted by a Muslim nation, Qatar, and the country is expecting 1.3 million fans. However, the games have been shadowed by controversy, with questions asked about the rights and working conditions of the migrant workers involved in building the infrastructure. Paris and other French cities are boycotting the games by not screening them in public spaces. In response the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, has said that Qatar has faced unprecedented criticism since winning the bid. Joining Roy Jenkins to discuss the issues are Graham Daniels, General Director of Christians in Sport and a Director of Cambridge United Football Club. Jahangir Mohammad, Founder and Director of the Ayaan Institute. Ewa Turczanska, Member of the Colwyn Bay Amnesty International group and contributor to the World Cup values statement made with the Welsh Centre for International Affairs. Faisal Bodi from the Islamic Human Rights Commission. Audience includes students from Wrexham Glyndŵr University, Coleg Cambria, Chester University and Bangor University.

Welcome to the Sing When You're Losing Podcast! In this episode I get the privilege of interviewing Graham Daniels. Graham has been involved in football for a long time, and on many levels: as a player, a manger, a director of football, and currently in football operations at Cambridge United. In addition to this, Graham is the General Director of an organization called Christians in Sport, where he is active in supporting Christians involved in elite level sport. For many years in the UK, this was a taboo subject, but not anymore. As the world gets stranger, it seems that the need for Faith and willingness to admit it has grown. I hope you enjoy this conversation Graham as much as I did! As always, this episode is recorded online, so please be patient with the occasional lack of sound quality, if you can persevere, I have no doubt that you will enjoy it and grow from it, so get comfortable and join me, your host, Buddy Owen as we all learn to Sing When You're Losing.

UTAS were lucky enough to sit down with Graham Daniels, Director of Football, and Shaun Grady, Director of Business, to pose a set of questions regarding this summer's recruitment strategy and our financial shortfall that a lot of United fans feel have remained inadequately answered. There’s a lot of other topics we could have touched on but given a time constraint they remain uncommented on for now. Most importantly, the dialogue is open from fans to board, and we thank the club for their honesty and transparency in this interview and hopefully in the future. I only had 2 hours to meet Graham while I was passing through London "ok, let's meet at a Chinese all you can eat buffet." We met and in between bites we talked about what Graham was working on, Orchestra of Samples. He and his music partner have travelled to over 30 countries and sampled over 200 musicians over the last few years to be able to put together some really interesting music. These people never met and may have even recorded on other sides of the planet a few years apart. It's really cool stuff and I think if you are listening to this you should think about cool projects like this that you could take a part in!
