Herbal remedies, vaccines, and heart transplants...should Christians use modern medicine? If so, to what extent? Does using medicine display a lack of faith in God's ability to heal?In today's episode, Pastor Derek and Pastor Jackie talk through a question about how Christians ought to approach modern medicine. We dig through Scriptures about God being the Great Healer, as well as verses that point to use of medicinal practices as good and beneficial. We also look at how these two things work together. Our hope is that this podcast helps you better understand the relationship Christians ought to have with medicine! The 17:17 podcast is a ministry of Roseville Baptist Church (MN) that seeks to tackle cultural issues and societal questions from a biblical worldview so that listeners discover what the Bible has to say about the key issues they face on a daily basis. Jesus is asked for a sign and He refers to the life of Jonah as a sign of his authority. As we unpack this idea we realize how fitting the life of Jonah is for the life of Jesus. Jonah takes responsibility for the sailors and offers his life for their salvation. But the fish that had swallowed him can't keep him in and throws him up on land after three days. Likewise Jesus takes responsibility for mankind and offers his life for their salvation and he is offered up to the Romans who kill him. But the tomb can't keep him and symbolically vomits him out after three days and His life continues. The pdf for this podcast is available at www.rediscoveringgod.ca

Matthew describes Jesus as being above the regulations about the Sabbath as he defends his disciples against the criticisms of the Pharisees. Then Jesus heals on the Sabbath revealing the heart of the pharisees who had placed the care of animals over that of people. After Jesus healed and cast a demon out of a man the people exclaim he must be the messiah. Jesus had just performed one of the four miracles that were signs of the coming Messiah. To which the Pharisees commit the sin against the Holy Spirit by attributing the work of God to the work of Satan. See the pdf document at www.rediscoveringgod.ca.

The healing of a lame man by Peter and John shocked the people. They recognized the man now jumping around the temple and couldn't deny that he was that lifelong-disabled beggar they'd seen at the gate each day. The reaction gave Peter a golden opportunity to tell them that it was their own God who had raised, glorified and therefore validated Jesus of Nazareth by whose authority and power this man had been healed. He also heavily rebuked them for killing the Messiah.--Although physical healings are seen by evangelicals usually as indicators of spiritual salvation, they should instead prompt us to think about salvation in a more holistic way, remembering that these healings point to not only forgiveness of sins, the gift of the Holy Spirit and the promise of eternal life, but the redemption of our bodies also. If we pray for the faith of the likes of Peter, we shall enjoy a fresh excitement about our resurrection.

We may know Jesus as Lord and Savior, but do we know him as Healer? This book is for anyone asking for a miracle—whether physical, mental, relational, or spiritual—and how to worship the Great Healer no matter if His answer is answer is yes, no, or wait.If we understand anything about our culture, it's that we desperately need healing. Many people are quick to believe in an outrageous conspiracy before they will believe in Jesus and the miracle worker He is. Throughout Scripture, we see that He makes the blind see, opens deaf ears, restores life from death, and so much more . . . but what about you?Do you believe that Jesus has the power to restore you to health and heal your wounds? Throughout this book, Matthew Stephen Brown leads readers on a spiritual journey designed to discover who Jesus is as Healer and explore many questions including:Why do we believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior, but not as Healer? Why would a good God allow us to experience pain in the first place, and maybe many times? When we don't experience healing, does that mean Jesus has failed or let us down?Jesus cares about our physical needs, but what healing in our lives is He most concerned about? Combining personal stories, biblical truth and wisdom, and humor that puts people at ease and draws them in, Pastor Matt Brown leads readers to worship a God who is not random, not careless, and who is never without cause, especially when it comes to performing miracles. Everyone can get behind a God who says yes. But what about when God says no? Or wait? No matter what God's plan is for your life, we can learn to trust and worship the Great Healer. — “Be the Love in all and everything – this is the lesson, and it can be hard. This will be the key, is the key. You search for the answers to life, to manifesting and you are the key. You are LOVE and Love heals, creates all, for it is ALL. Love is a consciousness, and you are that consciousness! A spark, a part in this body, this beautiful body, connected to the Oneness, to all and everything. Love = Universe. The consciousness of Love manifests all – galaxies, stars, tea, coffee! And once you sit with this and become that Love, release the veils/barriers you put up to hide you from it, then the answers start to come in. There is nothing to do beloved, sit and be loved, all will be revealed. Too simple for the human mind which wants to keep doing BEING is the key to finding the answers. So, sit and be loved, all the time, receive that Love, let it pour through you and let the mysteries unfold and be revealed.” Valeria interviews Malti Patel — She is the author of “Ascending Into The Light: Messages From The Angels.” Malti Patel has a PhD in Artificial Intelligence. When we think about Jesus many things pop into our minds. Jesus was a brilliant teacher and a great healer, but Jesus was also the best friend a person could ever have. What John wants us to grasp today with both mind and heart is there is no greater happiness in life than a deepening relationship with Jesus. Jesus taught and embodied a servant posture as an essential power posture of His Kingdom. Jesus reminds his closest friends, Whoever would be great must be a servant…the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many. Those who embrace humble foot-washing friendship, basin and towel servanthood are blessed and happy. Footwashing friendship requires both serving and being served. Jesus is a friend that can always be counted on. Jesus is a friend who humbly serves. Jesus is a friend no matter what. What a friend we have in Jesus!Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49014827 Prayer Requests: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2509/responses/new23.01.22

It is Thursday morning, the 7th July 2022, and I want to greet you in Jesus's name! This is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. Psalms 40:9:“I have proclaimed the good news of righteousnessIn the great assembly;Indeed, I do not restrain my lips,O Lord, You Yourself know.I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart;I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation;I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truthFrom the great assembly.”Acts 20:20:“…how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house,…”There are no secret agents in God's kingdom. We have an obligation to speak up and share the Good News to everyone who will hear us. Remember, no one deserves to hear the Gospel twice until the whole world has heard it once. The Apostle, Paul, was fearless when it came to speaking up for the Master. He regularly got beaten, stoned and abused, just for telling people that Jesus Christ is Lord. The devil hates it when the name of Jesus is spoken. You might ask the question, “But why?”. That name brings salvation, peace, healing, forgiveness and most of all, love. It brings you and I new life. What kind of folk would we be if we were lying in a hospital bed in a ward full of people who were dying with a terminal disease. Then somebody arrived with a bottle of tablets and said, “Take one of these tablets and you will be healed.” You took the tablet and straight away your body was completely healed. You got up, got dressed, packed your suitcase and you looked around the ward at all the other patients who had the same disease as you, who were dying, and you said, “God bless you and keep well,” and you walked out? What kind of person would that be? That is exactly what happens when we have been saved from eternal damnation and we keep the Gospel to ourselves. This sick and dying world needs you and I to tell them about the Great Healer.Have a wonderful day as you go out and you speak up for the Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you and goodbye.
