“There's no such thing as perfection. Imperfection is perfection and that is how we learn and grow. Just get it up there and take bold action because it's never going to be perfect. But if you don't do anything, that is failure.” - Kimberly Seltzer   What does your wardrobe say about you? We often dress to express what we feel, but sometimes, our experiences can cause us to lose our self along the way, affecting how we manifest on the outside. Being in a toxic relationship, going through struggle after struggle, an overwhelming pile of family obligations- there is just so much that can rob us off of feeling our worth. But there is a way to bring that back! In this episode, Daniel and Kimmy Seltzer discuss how we lost self-love, what keeps us from loving ourselves even when we know we should, and how to rebuild our lost confidence. As an Image Expert, Kimmy shares her signature formula to make our charisma glow: the Charisma Quotient. Tune in and learn how you can be in congruence with how you feel inside and how you market yourself to others. Confidence is experience. On this episode, we talked about: Upleveling yourself in life Learning how to service people Helping people flirt with life Breaking old patterns in life Knowing your true desires Showing enough for yourself Start making a difference "The inward is super important, but if you're not feeling good on the outside it's going to be hard to show up on the outside" "You have to understand some of the patterns and repetitions that happen in your life that are holding you back" "Once you figure out why you don't feel confident, you can do baby steps and learn how to undo the programming that you have"   About Kimberly: My name is Kimberly Seltzer and I am an image expert, dating coach and matchmaker. I draw upon my experience as a therapist by using a true inside-out approach to my practice. The reason I am so passionate about what I do is that I not only have professional experience, but I've also gone through a personal journey of my own. I really understand how empowering a transformation can be. After practicing as a therapist for over 10 years, I moved to California with my now ex-husband and young children and was blind-sided with divorce. I was forced to suddenly make a lot of changes internally, externally and professionally. After losing a lot of pregnancy weight, I got a new colorful wardrobe with better-fitting clothes and started feeling better about myself. As my confidence grew, I started attracting more people (men included) and opportunities. I decided to focus my career on helping others with the same painful issues I had gone through and encourage their own personal transformation.   Today I help clients all over the world to unveil their most beautiful selves. Whether it's updating your image or transforming your dating life, my philosophy is simple… work from the inside-out to achieve your goals and boost your self-confidence. I have developed my own personalized wing gal approach with clients doing in-field work with men and women working on body language, first impressions, image and messaging and how it impacts attraction.   P.S. Reviews are like a virtual hug and you know I LOVE hugs! It would mean a world to me if you could please write me an honest review so more women can find this show

Lisa's Adventure Club: Blarney Castle (0:00:00) This week, in honor of St. Patrick's Day coming up, we are exploring one of Ireland's greatest treasures: Blarney Castle. This castle is famous for its lush gardens, rich history, and famous kissing of the “blarney stone”. Here to help us explore this world landmark is Paul O'Sullivan, the marketing manager from Blarney Castle who is joining us all the way from Ireland.   Tough Breakups (0:13:40) Breakups are an important part of growing and finding the partner that fits with you best. Sometimes, we can look back on these experiences and laugh. But in the moment, they're incredibly painful! So how can we get over and move on from a hard breakup to find happiness with someone else? Joining us on the show today is Kimberly Seltzer, a certified therapist, dating coach, and matchmaker. She's going to teach us the ins and outs of the complex breakup process and how to use it for our own growth.   Creative Economy (0:33:38) Have you ever heard of the “Creative Economy”? According to Stanford Social Innovation Review, the creative economy are industries “that lie at the crossroads of arts, culture, business, and technology.” In this economy, you can turn your creative ideas into a profitable endeavor or a career. This includes a whole range of careers from photography to computer gaming. So what is the significance of the creative economy and how does it play a role in our everyday lives? We are joined today by the author of “The Creative Economy: How People Make Money from Ideas,” John Howkins.   Coronavirus and Sick Days (0:50:36) Ever since the Coronavirus broke loose, we've seen people respond in a variety of ways. Many in hysteria have made a mad dash to places like Costco to stock up on toilet paper and water. Others have ordered mass amounts of face masks, which the surgeon general told people to stop buying for the sake of sick hospital patients. None of these items are likely to protect you from the virus, but all health professionals can concur that the best things you can do to stay safe are wash your hands, don't touch your face and most importantly... stay home if you're sick. But what about the people who can't afford to take a sick day? Here to share her thoughts on the subject is Alex Baptiste of the National Partnership for Women and Families.   Mini Book Club: Great Authors (1:03:54) Rachel Wadham, of BYU Radio's Worlds Awaiting, talks with Lisa and Richie about the best authors whose work is worth checking out.   Spending Less Time on Your Hair (1:26:02) Daylight saving was this weekend meaning that we lost a whole hour of precious beauty sleep. With that in mind, the idea of getting up early to make sure you have time to style your hair doesn't sound fun! Having some tricks up your sleeve to cut down on your hair routine can be especially helpful as we have busy mornings and we're trying to get as much sleep as possible. We're talking with Michelle Lindsay about how we can spend less time on our hair. Michelle is a hair stylist, color expert, and an instructor for L'oreal Professionnel.

Ability Beyond (0:00:00) In our country, there are a fair amount of resources for children growing up with disabilities. Customized school experiences, after-school programs, and summer camps all help our disabled youth to understand how capable and incredible they are. But what resources are available for young adults with disabilities? How do they learn how to write a resume, land a job, and become independent? Ability Beyond, an organization based out of the East Coast, is doing big things to help our disabled community with problems facing every common adult. With us is Carrie O'Connell, Director of Programs and Services at Ability Beyond, to tell us about unemployment among those with disabilities and how their organization is helping. Laugh Through Life (0:14:02) Many of us can struggle to find meaning amidst the monotony of our daily routine. Whether we're climbing the corporate ladder, learning how to parent, or just trying to make ends meet, it can be easy to forget why it all matters. So how can we start learning from even the most seemingly insignificant life experiences? To help us out, we're joined by Dr. David Levy, author of the new book, LIFE Is a Four-Letter Word, to talk about the lessons that he's learned. Google Decade Trends (0:34:49) Have you ever started typing a question into the Google search bar and seen the outlandish, auto-generated questions that pop up? Every December, Google releases the top searches out of the trillions made each year, revealing what people around the world are asking and talking about. Justin Burr, a Google trends expert, joins us to share the biggest Google trends of the decade. Allyship (0:50:35) We want to believe that we're all created equally, but it's an unfortunate truth that whether because of gender, race or sexuality, sometimes life is easier for some people than it is for others. These differences are important, they're a part of our identities and we want to celebrate them and it's unfair and unjust when anyone is held down because of their beautiful differences. So the question is—what can be done about the situation? If we see someone being treated unfairly, especially if they're being treated so because they're a minority in some sense, how can people reach out and help? Here to talk to us about some of her thoughts surrounding this and allyship is poet Ashley Finley. Cold and Flu Season (1:08:55) Stuffy noses, sore throats, fevers, that cough that just won't go away. . . Cold and flu season is the worst and it's upon us! How can we possibly fight such a catastrophe? Dr. Cass Ingram is a natural physician with some great solutions for building up our immune systems this winter. We've invited him onto the show to share them! Holiday Relationships (1:23:28) This time of year can be very romantic. With those Christmas songs rife with lyrics describing kissing under the mistletoe, dreaming by the fire, and walking in winter wonderlands it's no wonder that more people are finding themselves in relationships during the holidays. But sometimes, navigating holiday relationships can get tricky. Whether you are wondering when is the right time to introduce your significant other to your families or to make a bigger step in your relationship, the romance can quickly turn to panic. Here to help guide us through these relationships is dating coach and matchmaker Kimberly Seltzer.

Confidence and Clothing (0:00:00) You can feel the difference between the days when you roll out of bed and throw on an old, stained sweater you hope no one sees versus the days you wake up early, actually pick out an outfit, and strut that brand new shirt. For some mysterious reason it makes you feel more like getting out of your cubicle and saying hi to people! Your wardrobe can actually have a huge effect on your confidence, and it could be one of the factors of helping you find a lasting relationship. Confidence is an attractive quality and if the proper wardrobe can help with that, we are all ears. We have Kimberly Seltzer, an image expert, dating coach and matchmaker, with us to help us unveil our most beautiful selves.  How to Make Love Last (0:16:56) Being in a long-term, committed relationship like marriage requires a lot more work than some might think. Just because you've decided to spend the rest of time together, it doesn't mean things will be easy from here on out. Relationships, regardless of their status, require attention and constant work to keep love alive. But amidst all of our grown-up responsibilities, how can we still find time to date our spouses if we've already won each other's hearts? Alisa Goodwin Snell, a dating and relationship coach, joins us to share how people in committed relationships can stay in love for the rest of their lives.  Theatre's Role in Culture (0:34:13) From 500 BC to 2019, actors have taken the stage to tell stories of the human experience in the entertaining and inspiring art form of theatre. But in what ways has it changed over the centuries? What are the ins and out of theatre today? Tony Gunn, theatre professor, director and actor, joins us to give insight into the theatre trends of today, as well as tips on how to find the best shows near you. Bibliotherapy (0:50:34) I think everyone needs therapy at some point in their lives, and therapeutic experiences can come to us in many different shapes and forms. Today, we're talking about a type of therapy that's a little out of the box. Instead of laying on a couch and spilling your feelings to a doctor, can you gain therapy and healing from laying on a couch with your favorite book? Here to tell us more about the practice of bibliotherapy is Nancy Knapp professor and co-author of The Psychology of Reading: Theory and Applications.  Being Programmed for Unhappiness (1:05:11) Study after study tells us that being happy is good for us. Yet, according to the World Happiness Report, America is the least happy it's ever been. If being happy is so good for us, why are we having such a hard time becoming happy? “We're actually born happy, unfortunately that natural joy has been blocked by the programming received over the years,” says Desmond Towey, teacher and speaker at the DeMello Center. “You can't acquire it,” he adds. “Instead you have to delete your programming.” We've invited him onto the show to explain how we can do that.  Weekend Review (1:22:06) Lisa and Richie tell us about activities happening across the country and the movies coming out this weekend. Treasure Island 2020 (1:32:00) Sam Payne, host of the Apple Seed, gives us a preview of BYU Radio's Treasure Island 2020.

“When you love yourself, other people will too. End of story.” Kimberly Seltzer (29:44 - 29:48) What you wear matters more than you think.  When you look in the mirror, do you love what you see? Or do you feel disappointed? Your response may have something to do with your wardrobe. Kimberly Seltzer is a strong believer that you are what you wear. The LA-based Style and Confidence Coach works with men and women to find the right textiles and patterns that build a wardrobe of confidence.  Her “outside-in” approach will have you toss out your comfy cocoon clothes and stock up on power outfits that attract success. Are you ready for a complete makeover? Let’s find your personal style so you radiate confidence everywhere you go.  “It doesn’t matter what size you are. It doesn’t matter what age you are. How you look on the outside boosts your confidence and makes you feel better.” - Diane Forster (10:30 - 10:41) After her divorce, Kim covered her curves in black and dismal materials. Any hint of color was out of the question. That was until a clothing department employee handed her a terrifying red dress that was two sizes too small.  Like Cinderella, Kim transformed before her very own eyes. She couldn’t believe how beautiful she was. As Kim marched out of that department store with her new dress in hand, she felt empowered and ready to take on the world.  That’s because when you look great, you feel great. So, how do you curate a wardrobe that builds confidence? Kim’s Three Cs Style Formula to build confidence:   Color. Incorporate more color into your wardrobe. Color is a powerful force of attraction for success, money, and love. Use tones that compliment your skin and beckon double-takes.     Cut. There are so many shapes and sizes of women. Some are tall and lean, others are short and curvy. None are the same, but they’re all beautiful. Find clothes that fit your body type right so you can feel your best.     Confidence Clothes. What are your go-to outfits? The ones you pull for dates and special occasions every time! What is it about those clothes that work for you? Once you’ve figured it out, go shopping for more in the same style.  “You don’t have to change who you are. You want to market yourself so that people can get to know who you are.” - Kimberly Seltzer (20:47 - 20:55) Style is an opportunity for others to get to know the real you. What you wear matters. But it’s less about the clothes and more about the attitude they inspire. This week, go to your closet armed with Kim’s “Three Cs Formula” as a guide. Pick articles of clothing that complement your figure and skin tone and align with your personality.  It’s time for the world to see who you are and what you’re all about.  Each week, we provide you with a mantra meditation, a fun, transformational way to apply the concepts in each episode. Tell yourself the story of what you want, without all of the limitations, and watch your life begin to change! Listen to this week’s mantra meditation to grow in self-love.  Letting go of the expectations of others, and growing in the confidence and love of who you are and all that you are capable of, is the only way to truly move forward in success and fulfillment. Each day, we are surrounded by people who are doing the best that they can. Listen in to this week’s mantra meditation, embrace self-compassion, and extend compassion to your relationships.  How to get involved For more information about working with Diane and to gain access to valuable resources visit dianeforster.com.  You can contact Diane for coaching information at info@dianeforster.com. Are you hesitant to set boundaries or ask for help when you really need it?  This week, Kim coaches Jessica, a stay-at-home mom who wants to branch out and find her purpose outside of being a badass mom without guilt!  Kim talks through a bit of scientific research that shows women are more likely than men to take care of everyone and everything -- and feel guilty if they don’t!  Jessica openly shares a story about her upbringing where she didn’t get the attention she needed so she poured her energy into putting others first to feel validated. Kim dives into how Jessica can set some clear, healthy boundaries and set up a few simple systems that will allow her to take some much needed time for herself and not feel beholden to her role as a mom at all times. These lessons can apply to you whether you're a parent like Jessica or you often find yourself in the caretaker role in your romantic relationships. New year, new you! We always feel like a makeover is needed in January. So what better way to begin 2019 than with style coach Kimberly Seltzer?   You might not realize it, but your outfits are more than just clothes. They say a lot about you. They can keep you feeling down, block love, and give away your power. Yes, really. Wearing muted colors, going for the bigger size, wrapping up in layers all send a strong message, both to the outside world and to yourself: that you are not confident and are not comfortable in your own skin. From that space, implementing positive change is an uphill struggle.   Often, we’re told that if we work on what’s on the inside - our mindset - we can transform what’s on the outside. But this can work the other way too: a great outfit can make you feel empowered, and over time this boosts your confidence and improves your mindset, so you can attract what you want - whether it’s in love or in business. If you work on both your mindset and your wardrobe, transformation gets much faster. Kim knows about this first-hand.   Twenty years ago, she was a traditional therapist - in other words, she was totally focused on the inner work side of things. But life happened, she got a divorce. Life as she knew it was over. Her mood was so low she couldn’t even get out of bed, let alone be a helpful therapist. Despite her knowledge of talking therapy, she couldn’t get out of her own way or change how she felt. One day, she looked in the mirror. And she was horrified. Frumpy, wearing oversized clothes, a nursing bra and Birkenstocks. She looked like her mindset: sad, and hiding in a cocoon of black. So she went shopping. Luckily, a personal shopper saw her picking out her usual uniform and intervened with a sexy little red dress. This chance encounter changed Kim’s life forever. She suddenly felt like herself again. Her confidence started growing. And the rest is history. Now, Kim is determined to help others reconnect with themselves and find their perfect partner.    Being hailed as “Sex and the City for Food,” The Food Heals Podcast brings together experts in the field of nutrition, health and healing to teach you the best-kept natural secrets to being a hotter, healthier, happier YOU!   The Food Heals Podcast is hosted by Allison Melody and Suzy Hardy – two self-proclaimed natural chicks who will rock your world and change your beliefs about health! Time for Fan Mail Friday, where we'll be answering your questions and dropping some knowledge and feedback to help you kick the weekend off right. This week, Kimberly Seltzer joins Jordan and Jason to set your questions right and help you course correct. Let's cut to it! In this episode: How do we cut off relationships with addicts when they're so good at making us feel sorry for them? Your good friend's significant other is a disrespectful, bossy mismatch, and it's obvious to everyone in your social group but him. Is there a way to hang out with him without her? When both partners in a long-term relationship have partaken of infidelities, can trust ever truly be regained between them? On paper, you seem to have your act together -- you maintain fitness, you have a good job, and you're friendly and outgoing. So why aren't you getting second dates or approached in real life by potential suitors? How do you help your best friend of 13 years maintain a healthy mental life and not get sore over his rebuffing of your suggestions -- especially when he's got another friend who encourages his bad behavior through binge drinking? How do you get over a five-year dry spell when your longest relationships won't last longer than a month? Time for Fan Mail Friday, where we'll be answering your questions and dropping some knowledge and feedback to help you kick the weekend off right. Let's cut to it! In this episode: If you listened to our recent episode with Darya Rose, you understand the importance of creating good habits without having to fall back on willpower. But where do you begin? More feedback on jealousy in response to the actress whose boyfriend has trouble with her romantic scenes, and advice given by another listener. While listening to our most recent episode with Susan Winter about breakups, a listener who recently went through a breakup was prompted to write in for advice about getting back into the dating game. The catch: she has HSV and dreads the responsibility of telling potential new partners. A casual relationship had to hit the brakes because your partner's mother passed away. It's a few months later and you want to pick up where you left off. How do you know if the other person's ready -- and what should you do if they're not? [For reference, Kimberly Seltzer talks about covert contracts a bit here.] If the married person you're having an affair with stops having sex with you because they've discovered you watch porn, there may be other issues at play here. You probably already know what our advice is going to be here, but come along for the ride anyway, won't you? Shoutouts to Jeremy Ashton from the HATponics crew and the CHS Lions Powers of Hope team who build aquaponics systems in Jamaica to help deaf kids grow food, and Meredith from her crazy dad in Wuxi! A self-described alpha female has been trying Kimberly Seltzer's dating advice, but it seems to be backfiring. What's the deal? Do men really love "bitches?" (Her word, not ours!) Do you find yourself constantly getting placed into positions of leadership by others? Is it really possible to get left holding the ladder...for yourself? Do you ever create scenarios or situations you may encounter with others and try to solve them before they actually exist -- and does this lead to false judgments and misunderstandings? How do you continue to work with someone who is insecure, insincere, and threatened by you, but is definitely not going anywhere because the CEO believes in him? In this episode: How do you go back to your long-term marriage that needs work once you've become infatuated with someone who reminds you of all the things your partner is not? As we learned in episode 499 with Kimberly Seltzer, boundaries are imporant. But how do we know if we're closing ourselves off with too many boundaries? If you're an educator who's had to make countless compromises, it's hard not to become jaded when work politics hamstring the passion that got you into your field in the first place. Is there a way to realign your perspective and avoid the mounting bitterness you've been feeling about your job before you just leave it all behind for good? Some fan mail we get goes beyond the scope of our expertise, and we have to recommend professional help. Kimberly Seltzer gets another mention here for her in-depth episode about how to find a therapist. We wholeheartedly encourage everyone who listens to this show to put a plan of action in place and stick to it. Start small, as even the tiniest daily improvement will snowball into a core-level identity shift that will improve your life and the lives of those around you forever. When is the time right to tell prospective partners? Too early, and you may be seen as presumptuous. But if you wait until things start getting serious, they may be angry you didn't tell them sooner. How do you make the call? A listener from Jordan's appearance on the Sex Nerd Sandra podcast writes in to ask for an alternative to the "just be yourself" advice usually given to someone who wants to approach an attractive stranger. If you're used to being a pushover, what do you do when your so-called friends resist the boundaries you're trying to set (as discussed with Kimberly Seltzer in episode 499)? Sometimes love is unrequited for good reason. But what do you do when "the one who got away" briefly returns the sentiment only to go right back to their abusive spouse?
