DJ Bill Bennett EXODUS I am very proud of this album that contains new mixes of my previous singles and new tracks I never released. Many of us have had a very difficult time since the quarantine. I have made a decision to not release my new album for sale. I really do not want the anxiety of getting daily notifications on this album sales stats, commissions etc. My haters will have a field day with this one. But I know now what haters stands for... Have Anger Towards Everyone Reaching Success I have done 2 giant tours, several billboard club hits... I have been there and have the T-Shirt. I am now 55, I have no desire to be on magazine covers or in the gay rags. I just want my art out there. The world, the universe is energy. And we get back what we put into it. This is my gift to you. I hope it helps eliminate the darkness that has been around us these past few years. I hope it brings you joy. I hope it makes you smile. I hope it makes you move. I hope it makes your 2024. I do ask two favors of you. First, on your first listen please use headphones and listen to the entire album from start to finish to fully experience my art. Secondly, share this link with your friends. If this makes someones day, week or year... I have done my job. Namaste. Stay to the end for a very special interview from an undisclosed location in Augusta, Georgia.Remember the time as kids when we tried to communicate with two tin cans and a piece of string? Fast forward to now, we have the magic of podcasting that lets us connect with personalities like DJ Ron, who joins us from Florida. Through a modern day version of tubes and wires, we share laughs, memories, and the magic of music. DJ Ron shares his memorable cross country summer vacation with Garry, while discovering new family members along the way, and then meeting up with KC and Harley in Denver. Ron reminds them of the first time they met four years ago during the excitement of attending Pride 48 in New Orleans, and how awkward it can be meeting podcasters in person who listeners know through their personal stories. The Sountrack Of Our Life Segment starts a lively discusson about the transformative power of music including Larry Flick's incredible music playlist that has us appreciating his genius in music selection. This is a special moment for me and Autism Rocks And Rolls because one of my teen heroes is here. The hero I'm referring to is an LGBTQ comedian from America named Brad Loekle. Brad rose to fame as a result of his participation in the humorous reality TV series TruTV Presents World's Dumbest. Viewers of NBC may be familiar with him from Season 9 of Last Comic Standing, where he advanced to the semifinals. Brad has additionally appeared on a number of programs on E!, VH1, MTV, Logo, and various other networks. Radio listeners have heard several of Brad's appearances on The Frank DeCaro Show and his work as a guest co-host on SiriusXM's Morning Jolt with Larry Flick. In front of tens of thousands of viewers in more than 30 countries around the world, Brad has performed on stage alongside Patti Lupone, Sutton Foster, Vanessa Williams, Kathy Griffin, Lea DeLaria, and Leslie Jordan since 2010. I have him on more than just for that reason because he is one of my heroes and also a good person who accepts others. With a history of over 35 years in the music business, Larry Flick is probably best known for his 14-year stint at Billboard magazine where he was a senior editor, after which he became a host and producer on SiriusXM. Larry achieved a lot of firsts in the industry, with the ability to break artists into the American market. He was the first to write about Mariah Carey and helped break Britney Spears, and Adele into the American Market, and when it comes to specific tracks - even Madonna. He's a New York native, brought up by Italian catholic parents who used to get him to play records for them and their friends to dance to when he was a child. He has a theory about the 7th track on any album - something which will get you looking through your record collection, and seeing if this is true. He's charming and entertaining and this interview is just like dining out with one of the greats of music journalism of the past 35 years. Larry Flick has lived the most incredible life from growing up in New York to being senior editor on Billboard magazine with a host of superstars only wanting to talk to him for interviews and continuing that on through his radio shows for Sirius XM and Studio 54 Radio. He was one of the first to interview Madonna and counted Donna Summer as a personal friend. His dance column in Billboard magazine was the bible for anyone on that scene in the 90s including myself and Dave Seaman who hung on his every word - turns out the fanboying was mutual but we never knew! In this conversation I talk to him about his inspirations, the twists and turns that gave him a stellar career and the incredible story around his first and only time at Studio 54 which turned out to be a lot more transformative than he could ever imagine. Ep 134 My music is "dated"; so what? Video Description This episode piggybacks on Gab & Jam Ep 57, “What’s ‘retro’?” The topic relates to one that we overheard being discussed on SiriusXM’s show, “Volume,” where Larry Flick was talking about Evanescence’s new release. Flick mentioned that the new Evanescence sounds like the old Evanescence, which prompted him to ask what “lane” they fit in anymore. Flick said it doesn’t have a “lane” is because it’s “dated,” which we took to mean the derogatory incarnation of “retro.” @larryflick #larryflick #musiccategories #prejippie #bloomingprejippie #coronavirus #quarantine #musicianlifestyle #retro #dated #beyonce #onpurpose What do you think? What is wrong with making music that is “dated” as long as that is the statement you plan to make? We would LOVE to hear about it! Please share in the comments below. In this episode of #JCsMusicology, we explore the enigmatic Kate Bush's work before her first hiatus. After the release of "Hounds of Love", which is often regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time, Kate Bush would continue to develop as an artist with her follow-up album, "The Sensual World". After a four year gap, "The Red Shoes" would follow. In 2011, selections from each album would be re-recorded to create "Directors Cut", a cohesive album, that stands on it's own. Only a genius like Kate Bush could so sucessfully execute such an exentric project.
