Front Row Classics takes it's first look at the James Bond franchise by celebrating the 60th anniversary of what many consider the ultimate Bond film. Emmett Stanton joins Brandon to celebrate 1964's Goldfinger. Brandon and Emmett discuss the unending charisma of Sean Connery as 007. We also celebrate the iconic performances of Gert Frobe as Auric Goldfinger, Honor Blackman as Pussy Galore and Harold Sakata as Oddjob. This is the film where many of the permanent elements of the franchise came together in spectacular fashion. We also celebrate the unforgettable theme song sung by Dame Shirley Bassey.

Today MPs from all parties are holding a debate on a controversial pregnancy testing drug used widely in the 1960s and 1970s. It's expected that MPs from all parties will speak, including former Prime Minister Theresa May. In May, the High Court rejected a claim for compensation saying it could not proceed because there was no new evidence linking the tests with foetal harm. Marie Lyon, Chairwoman of the Association for Children Damaged by Hormone Pregnancy Tests and Hannah Bardell MP, Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group On Hormone Pregnancy Testing, join Nuala McGovern. In the last in our series Rebuilding My Life, Nuala speaks to Wiz Wharton, author of Ghost Girl, Banana. Wiz was sectioned under the Mental Health Act 24 years ago, which led to a diagnosis of bipolar. She was forced to confront her demons and work out what needed to change, including owning her identity as a British-Chinese woman and learning how to stand up to the racism she had experienced all her life. Exclusive reporting from The Guardian this week shows that cricket umpires were paid three times more to officiate the men's Hundred this summer than the women's. It comes just days after the England and Wales Cricket Board announced that the women's teams will get the same match fees as the men's. Nuala speaks to journalist Raf Nicholson. One of the last surviving Bletchley Park codebreakers has died aged 99. Margaret Betts was just 19 when she was headhunted to work on the project. Nuala speaks to Tessa Dunlop, author of The Bletchley Girls, to find out a bit more about her. Dame Shirley Bassey will become the first female solo artist in British history to be honoured with a stamp series. Welsh music journalist Jude Rogers joins Nuala.

Happy birthday, Mr. Bond. Yes, this October sees 007 turn 0060 with the 60th anniversary of Dr No, the film that brought Ian Fleming's James Bond to the big screen for the first time. The celebrations begin this weekend with a series of Bond At 60 events at the BFI Southbank and BFI Imax, then a The Sound Of Bond concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday October 4, headlined by Dame Shirley Bassey, and the debut of Mat Whitecross' documentary, The Sound Of Bond, on Prime Video on October 5. Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are the producers who have overseen not one, but two, key reboots of the character, through the Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig eras, firmly keeping alive the traditions established by their father, Albert R. 'Cubby' Broccoli. They've been around since the franchise began — Michael cameoed briefly in Goldfinger in 1964, while a very young Barbara toured the world with her father as the movies became a cultural phenomenon in the Sixties — and in this special interview with Empire's Chris Hewitt, the two talk about their relationship with Bond, the movies and actors, through the decades, culminating in the major decision they made with the most recent movie, No Time To Die. Enjoy.

Bradley Walsh is a familiar face to many millions of TV viewers, as the host of quiz shows including The Chase and Blankety-Blank, and as an actor in dramas such as Doctor Who and The Larkins. Bradley was born in Watford and after leaving school at 16 he was apprenticed to the local Rolls-Royce factory as a jet engineer. A keen footballer, he signed to Brentford FC when he was 19 but his career was cut short by injury after only two seasons with the club. He dealt with this blow by turning his attention to the entertainment business. He worked as a Pontin's bluecoat and then tried his luck as a stand-up comedian - doing impressions and telling jokes at working men's clubs. In 1986 he turned professional, and his first booking was a stint at the Pavilion Theatre on Cromer Pier. Later he became the support act for performers including Dame Shirley Bassey, Leo Sayer and Sir Tom Jones. In 1997 he hosted the quiz show Wheel of Fortune and three years later got his first acting role in the Channel 4 series Lock Stock….a spin-off from Guy Ritchie's 1998 feature film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. He followed this up with roles in Coronation Street, Law & Order: UK and Doctor Who Bradley released his debut album Chasing Dreams, featuring his interpretations of popular standards, in 2016. In that year it became the biggest-selling debut album by a British artist. In this podcast, we'll be talking to pianist, singer, musical arranger, director and producer Dominic Ferris. Dominic's credits include producing for well-known singers such as Michael Ball, Alfie Boe and, currently, the final studio album of Dame Shirley Bassey. His collaborations with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra have sold over 3 million albums worldwide. He joined the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra as assistant musical director and pianist for the Elvis Presley: If I Can Dream UK arena tour, and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra for the USA anniversary tour, ending at Graceland with Priscilla Presley for the Elvis 40th Anniversary Celebrations. Dominic also tours around the world with his piano duo The Piano Brothers. He is one half of musical theatre double act Ferris & Milnes, who have become known for their medleys of Stephen Sondheim, George Gershwin and Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber. Dominic is a classically-trained musician, having studied piano performance, singing and conducting at the Royal College of Music in London. In this podcast, we'll be hearing about his varied background in the classical, pop and musical theatre genres. We also discuss the crossover market and the process that goes into producing and creating a crossover album. In particular, he talks about working with Michael Ball and Alfie Boe. Interestingly, Dominic says that crossover albums are among the last that people listen to in full. This leads to a really fascinating discussion about the creation of music releases in an age of streaming and the current pop music market. Having exposure to many different genres of music, it seems, can contribute to one's musicianship and musicality and this is certainly the case in Dominic's work. Finally, we talk about a poignant video project he helped to produce: a performance of "We'll Meet Again," the iconic wartime song made famous by Dame Vera Lynn. It was given by some of the top names in the West End and entertainment to boost morale for the UK theatre industry. Many thanks to Dominic for taking the time to talk especially for this podcast! One evening, LV is overheard by one of her mother's loathsome boyfriends, the disastrous dead-end talent scout Ray Say, who recognizes her innate talent and realizes this is his last big chance for the glittering prizes. On today's episode, Maria Elena Infantino, an Italian born singer and actress that performs in 7 languages talks about breaking into the US music scene in spite of her original passion having been acting. She discusses overcoming obstacles, the power of networking, and the willingness to be flexible and embrace the journey. Maria studies acting at The London Academy of Live and Recorded Arts. After graduation, she starred in the ITV Yorkshire television series "Emmerdale", and began her singing career at the Royal Albert Hall, with Dame Shirley Bassey for the 50th Beatles anniversary. She then produced her first west end show in London in honor of her late father, the legendary tenor, Luigi Infantino. She moved to Los Angeles after being nominated as best international singer at the LA Music Awards in 2011. Her LA debut was at the Marilyn Monroe theatre at the Lee Strasberg institute with her one woman show on Edith Piaf. Her many credits and collaborations include working with Maestro Andrea Morriconme, Maestro Umberto Scipione, Mike Stoller, and concerts in prestigious venues worldwide . However, my favorite accolades for Maria include those where she serves non-profits. She also recently accepted a seat on the Ranch Hand Rescue advisory board, where the organization brings together severely abused people and severely abused animals for a counseling program.
