A compañía, baixo a dirección artística do ferrolán Jaime Pablo Díaz, bota o pano da celebración do seu 20 aniversario -iniciada a finais de 2023- cun fito único na cidade herculina: o Teatro Colón acollerá, do 17 ao 19 de xaneiro de 2025, ás 20.00h, as pezas de danza Leira, Berro e Dique

La discusión pública por la cifra creciente de personas en situación de calle, en particular en la zona céntrica de Montevideo, ahora sumó otro factor: el arquitectónico. En octubre, Facundo, un hombre de 30 años, tropezó y cayó sobre pinchos colocados frente a un edificio en el cruce de las calles Durazno y Gutiérrez Ruiz. Le atravesaron el rostro, le hirieron un ojo, la arteria carótida, el lóbulo temporal izquierdo. Fue sometido a dos operaciones craneales, pero su situación se agravó. Facundo pasó 51 días internado en CTI, hasta que falleció a mediados de noviembre. Pero el episodio tuvo repercusiones a partir de los primeros días de este mes, y puso sobre la mesa el tema de la “arquitectura hostil” o “defensiva”. Es decir, los implementos, como pinchos, que se colocan en suelos frente a los edificios, o en sus ventanas, para evitar que se acuesten personas en situación de calle. El Concejo del Municipio B resolvió el 4 de diciembre por unanimidad buscar la regulación de “elementos punzantes, cortantes o similares” que tengan “posible riesgo para los transeúntes”. Además, determinó comenzar a intimar edificios a retirar estos elementos, con cinco días de plazo, según la resolución a la que accedió En Perspectiva. Y de acuerdo con el diario El País, el Municipio lleva ya enviadas más de 300 intimaciones. Sin embargo, no existe regulación al respecto, lo que motivó la crítica, por ejemplo, del edil nacionalista Javier Barrios Bove, que acusó al municipio de “atropello”. A nivel departamental, el ruido en torno al episodio llevó a la Intendencia de Montevideo a conformar un grupo de trabajo para estudiar el tema. Y según supo En Perspectiva, desde el Municipio CH se aguardan lineamientos departamentales, pues se considera que la materia debe encararse con un criterio único en la ciudad. Mientras tanto, ¿qué otras alternativas tienen los vecinos para evitar este tipo de “arquitectura hostil”? Drawing on interdisciplinary insights from IR, Historical Sociology, Blue Humanities and Critical Ocean Studies, The Sea and International Relations (Manchester University Press, 2022), edited by Dr. Benjamin de Carvalho and Dr. Halvard Leira breaks with this trend of oceanic amnesia, and kickstarts a theoretical, conceptual and empirical discussion about the sea and IR, by highlighting theoretical puzzles, analysing broad historical perspectives and addressing contemporary challenges. In bringing the sea back into IR, the book reconceptualises the canvas of international relations to include the oceans as a social, political, economic and military space which affects the workings of world politics. Heile dagen er det lagt opp til eit variert og allsidig program både ute og inne.  Leirsjef Hilde Sofie Blindheim Østrem ser fra til leira, og har enno plass for fleire. This week, we had a chat with Angeles Leira, former C-3 board member. During her 30-year tenure as city planner, she experienced a diversity of challenges corresponding to massive growth in suburban development in the region. She shares how she came to live in San Diego from Spain, and why she got involved with C-3. Angeles gives us an inside look at the city's planning department in the 1970s, and C-3's influence on the practice of urban planning, as well as notable battles in the fight for progressive values. You'll hear about what's changed in the last 50 years, what hasn't changed, and why history is our city's DNA.   Timestamps: [2:49] Angeles discusses being born in Spain and how she came to live in San Diego for over 60 years. [8:04] How did Angeles fall in love with planning? What was her career path like before she came to C-3? [10:09] Angeles's mother was a marine biologist and mentee of Roger Revelle at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. What does she remember about the SIO academic community? [13:53] How was the assessment of the city's land-use policies related to community empowerment and development within environmentally sensitive lands? [17:29] A successful community plan is one that enhances the way people already use their community and neighborhood.   [18:23] What were some of the micro- and macro-battles in the 1970s where a conflict occurred between a community, group, or citizens and policymakers/developers? [39:15] Angeles talks about coming to understand the different perceptions that you have when you are in different levels of government. Not everyone can think the same way, even when using the same information. [41:02] Angeles discusses her experience advocating within the planning department. [47:42] As societies become powerful, they become very dictatorial. And when you are dictatorial, you have no flexibility. [49:29] As societies ebb and flow, time is one of the solutions and utter failure is the other one. Angeles explains. [54:53] Angeles fights hard for habitat preservation and historic preservation because habitat preservation gives us the basic structure of the city and our history gives us our personality and our DNA. [55:27] Angeles discusses her relationship with C-3 and how she discovered the organization.
