Escaped inmate Tyler Bennett had still not been located as of 8:30 this morning. The 31-year-old man, who is from the Northern Peninsula or western Newfoundland area, escaped from the West Coast Correctional Centre in Stephenville last Friday. Bennett had been in custody in relation to a number of criminal charges. Cpl. Jolene Garland is Media Relations Officer for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and we reached her in St. John's.

Did you know that now he's joined a nonprofit that saves Ukraine pets left behind in war? I knew we had to talk! Join us as we dive deepuncovering why everyone needs to care about the pet crisis in Ukraine, which is not only about welfare but about preventing the spread of disease throughout Europe. This tragedy of epic proportions is crippling a nation already enduring so much suffering. We need to talk about it! Chris Hyde enlisted in the U.S. Army in December 1995 and served just over two years as a personnel actions clerk assigned to the 18th Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg, NC, before his selection to attend the U.S. Army's Officer Candidate School (OCS) in early 1998.  He was commissioned as an Adjutant General second lieutenant in June 1998. Over the next several years, he served in many different capacities as an AG officer: AG detachment executive officer, postal platoon leader, MEPS operations officer, and AG detachment commander.  COL Hyde was selected to serve as a Public Affairs Officer (PAO) in 2007. COL Hyde served in key public affairs billets at all echelons for 18 years – internationally, on operation, and in garrison.  Operationally, he deployed to Diyala, Iraq, in September 2008 with the 1/25th Stryker Brigade Combat Team as the SBCT's PAO and served as a PA planner for the ISAF Joint Command (CJ-35) throughout 2011 in Kabul, Afghanistan.   His other public affairs assignments include Media Relations Officer for NATO's Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC) in the UK, Training with Industry (TWI) Fellow with Siemens Corporation (NJ), Division Public Affairs Officer for the U.S. Army's 2nd Infantry Division, ROK/US Combined Division in the Republic of Korea, Chief PAO for the U.S. Army's I Corps (Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington), and completed his Army Public Affairs career serving as Chief of Public Affairs and Deputy Director of Strategic Communications at NATO's Allied Command Operations / Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, or SHAPE, in Mons, Belgium. Roy L Hales/Cortes Currents - RCMP have been attempting to crack down on drug trafficking in Campbell River. Their most recent press release states that on Thursday March 16, a cache of drugs and guns were found in a house on Ebert Road. According to Cst. Maury Tyre, Media Relations Officer for the detachment, “Police seized over $3000 in cash, 17 grams of crack cocaine, 4 grams of cocaine, 13 grams of Fentanyl, 316 Hydromorphone pills and several other prescription pills.” “The home had been the scene of four suspected drug overdose deaths since 2017.” “As a result of the investigation, a 66 year old Campbell River woman and a 27 year old man from the Lower Mainland were arrested. Both were released and are scheduled to attend court in June, 2023. This is the latest in a series of drug related arrests in Campbell River. On February 28, the RCMP seized a significant stash of drugs, scales, packaging materials, replica guns and more than $6,000 in cash, after raiding two houses in the Campbellton neighbourhood. Two 41-year-old men and one 43-year-old woman were arrested, released and now wait to appear in court. On November 16, two Lower Mainland residents were apprehended after they were witnessed trafficking. Subsequent to arrest, police located cocaine and fentanyl packaged for street sale. As of last month, Parmvir Dhaliwal and Gurvinder Deo were still awaiting trial. On November 4, the RCMP seized ‘a substance consistent with being cocaine, along with a prohibited weapon' from a residence on Holm Road. A 20-year old Campbell River man was arrested for Trafficking a Controlled Substance. After a two month long investigation, police arrested Brandon Viskovich on December 10, 2021. The Campbell River RCMP Street Crime Unit seized 22.85 grams of Cocaine, 347 grams of Psilocybin and approximately one pound of marihuana, over $26,000 in cash and what is believed to be Viskovich's drug client list.

Jenn grew up in the lower mainland of British Columbia and was very surprised to be posted in the North – she'd never traveled farther north than Kelowna before. Jenn's first posting was in Terrace, B.C. where she stayed for five years. Jenn and her family moved to Prince George in September of 2016. She originally started out in Frontline Policing in Prince George, before moving into the Media Relations role for two years. Jenn has a passion for Community Policing, which ties in nicely with her current role within the RCMP.
