Since the time they went off to college, millennials have been on the wrong track when it comes to life and love. But it isn't their fault. Their parents, aka baby boomers, led millennials astray. “We suffered from the educational debt phenomenon because when we couldn't find jobs, a lot of us went to college. Or we got graduate degrees. Our boomer parents encouraged us to fund a lot of that with debt, on the premise that it would eventually pay off in the job market. But that was clearly wrong, and we're paying the price for it,” writes Wall Street Journal columnist Joseph Sternberg in this interview about his new book, The Theft of a Decade: How the Baby Boomers Stole the Millennials' Economic Future. All of that is true, but there's more. The narrative Boomers promoted re men, marriage, school, work and motherhood has resulted in the troubles millennials now face. In this episode, Suzanne and her millennial assistant, Kelsey Merritt, discuss the poor choices millennial women make when it comes to money, men and marriage. In this episode, Suzanne and her assistant Kelsey talk about millennial women and why their approach to education, men, marriage, and motherhood has led them to unhappiness, debt, and being unsatisfied in their personal lives. Kelsey tells her own story of awakening to countercultural views and how Covid-19 changed her financial perspective and wedding plans, leading to her and her husband's decision to elope. How does the word failure make you feel? In this episode, we delve into the subject and our own journeys with it. Verity talks about how she feels it is important to ‘fail’ and understanding what you don’t want is just as important in knowing what you do want. Charelle discusses her struggle with failure and how your attitude and reaction to it makes all the difference.   Are you a perfectionist who is crippled by failure? Should we simply see failure as growth? Is there a difference between failing and being a failure?   We discuss having to risk failure to try and succeed in life and the importance of making failure your friend. Is the definition of failure subjective if you compare your own opinion of yourself to others? Verity discusses the more spiritual side in that you are sent things in life to help you grow and put you on the path of where you need to be. Charelle brings up the pressure she has put on herself in the past by putting time goals on her achievements.   What is your definition of failure for yourself? We finish the episode talking about overwhelm, setting yourself up to fail and giving yourself permission to evolve with the rhythm of life. ___ Have some feedback, a question you would like us to answer or a topic suggestion? This week’s the host demystify all the myths around journaling. Charelle - a seasoned journaler and teenage diary keeper - started journalling as part of her morning routine and has now transitioned to evening notes to help her digest and get clarity before she sleeps. Verity uses journalling primarily to get through blocks or challenges she is having and that her conscious mind can’t figure out on her own!   The hosts discuss prompts, using this tool on both a professional and personal level and planners made just for journalling. They also give their own personal tips on how to make journaling work for you (it’s never too late to start!) and the best places to do it.   Do you use journalling daily? Do you carry a notebook and pen with you all the time? Do you use it as a way to cut down your screen time? Is journaling a habit for you?   The hosts talk about free flowing vs specific questions, using it for things you feel you can’t speak to anyone else about and how the art of pen and paper journalling gives you time to reflect in unexpected moments.   “We are always focused on the future and sometimes forget everything we have achieved already.” Morning Pages - https://juliacameronlive.com/basic-tools/morning-pages/ High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard - https://www.amazon.co.uk/High-Performance-Habits-Extraordinary-People/dp/1401952852 The High Performance Planner - https://www.highperformanceplanner.com/ ---   Have some feedback, a question you would like us to answer or a topic suggestion? This is a specialized demographic of 80 million strong with a can-do attitude and a financial powerhouse, unlike any generation of women we have seen in the past 100 years. With off-the-charts buying power, their effect on the economy - and politics is unprecedented. These women are confident, strong, bursting with ideas, tech savvy, and champion multi-taskers. They live the feminist movement's goals by controlling their own lives, having lifestyle choices, and doing almost everything their male counterparts do.
