Snake's Revenge is a licensed but non-canon sequel to the original Metal Gear for the NES. Three years has passed since the Outer Heaven incident. FOX-HOUND has gained intelligence that an unknown terrorist group has seized a remote facility containing mass-produced Metal Gear tanks, as well as a new Metal Gear prototype which was under development. The newly-promoted Lt. Solid Snake is called back into action to infiltrate the terrorists' base with the help of two FOX-HOUND rookies, former marine Nick Myer and navy intelligence agent John Turner. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/nestalgia/support

This week on The MetalSucks Podcast, we've got none other than Austin Haines from Outer Heaven on the show this week! During our chat, we discuss his love for the Alien film franchise, how it may have the best sequel of any series, and how the world create on their new album Infinite Psychic Depths is a prequel to their previous one. We also chat about the album's artwork, how the band's two full lengths tie together, the guest vocalist he secretly hoped would commit, and how important it is to stay true to Outer Heaven's sound. Petar and Jozalyn discuss Ozzy Osbourne dropping off the Power Trip festival and the band announced as his replacement, our thoughts on the impact of a Creed reunion, and Puddle of Mudd releasing a new song that doesn't really live up to their past. Welcome back metalheads to another episode of The Great Metal Debate podcast. I'm Xander and today we will be talking about the Finnish death metalers known as Corpsessed. This is their 3rd full-length studio album Succumb To Rot which was released on April 22nd through Dark Descent Records. Anyone who is fan of slow grinding or that sludgy style of death metal will most likely enjoy this band. As with most metal bands, this band begins their album with an ominous instrumental intro track that sounds like what someone would hear playing in their minds just before dying. That foreboding sense of gloom but with heavily distorted guitars thrown into the mix. The name of this track is the album title but after about 2 minutes or so, the album dives right on into the next song "Relentless Entropy". Jussi-Pekka Manner kicks things off on drums to start the mayhem. Next up we have another song that opens with the sound of flies buzzing followed by an extremely heavy rhythmic guitar chug. Jyri Lustig and Matti Mäkelä's dual playing style are guaranteed to get your head banging in this song called "Death-Stench Effluvium". This was the first single released for this album in the form of a black and white music video full of grotesque imagery which is fitting for this track. "Spiritual Malevolence" contains a strong build up for most of the track until Niko Matilainen comes in and delivers his harsh growls for us on a silver platter. Following this we have the song "Calling Void" which begins with the fastest drumming on this entire record. The double kick drums will rattle you to the core! Later on in the track we get to hear a brief bass riff played by Tuomas Kulmala. However, it is very short lived yet still memorable. "Sublime Indignation" is exactly what you can come to expect from a band of this caliber. In recent years, Dark Descent Records has signed quite a few interesting bands in the sludgy death/doom subgenre; most of which have been hits with the underground metal scene. The last two songs "Profane Phlegm" and "Pneuma Akathartos" have not strayed at all from the musical formula in the way that it keeps people invested. To me, Corpsessed is one of those bands who can be crowd pleasers for many Outer Heaven or Drawn And Quartered fans. I would say that this band is definitely a cut above most bands in this genre in the way that they can be a crushing death metal band while not just playing the same songs over and over. Sure, there might be similarities on the notes but they're never fully the same. For the untrained ear, it would be hard for mainstream listeners to distinguish between certain tracks. Corpsessed also isn't so obscure that it's not for everyone but it's also not Mozart of Metal either. This is a band I can recommend to only specific types of metalheads out there. With that being said, I'm going to keep it fair and give these guys a 7.5 out of 10. You can listen to Corpsessed's music pretty much everywhere including: Amazon Music, their bandcamp page or even by hard copies that you can purchase on the Dark Descent Records website.

Ce n’était qu’une question de temps avant que Solid Snake ne s’infiltre dans ce podcast. The recent Rob Miller/holocaust denier controversy has been causing quite a stir in the Metal underground. When it came to our attention last episode, things were still up in the air as to what exactly was going on. One of our fave heroines, right behind Doro Pesch and Jo Bench of course, is the mighty Wonder Woman. The Amazonian's "Lasso Of Truth" proves to be an effective weapon is questioning unsavories. It made us think of the possibilities of using it upon Metaldom and getting a straight answer on some burning questions. Who would we use it on? What would we ask them? Being "Creature Feature" - less it made for some pretty interesting conversation. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we give our support to oppressed Iranian metallers Confess and go over the new season of Banger TV's "Shredders Of Metal". Musically we crank cool tune from Abbath, Batushka, Outer Heaven, Pelican, Torso, Bleach Everything and introduce Canadian metalllers Widow's Peak in our "Indie Spotlight"! Horns! Merry (belated) Xmas everyone!! It may not seem like the winter holidays around here, what with the lack of Christmasy-type tunes. But we're still in the giving spirit as this week we present not one but two kick ass interviews. Good Fight recording artists Cryptodira are currently killing it on the road in support of their label debut "The Devil's Despair". We sat down and spoke with the whole squad discussing touring Europe, working with Good Fight, and the band's musical recommendations. Direct support came from Boston hometowners Chuggernaut. An awesome band we had to speak with as well for an "Extended Indie Spotlight". In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we discuss meeting and photographing Dave Ellefson (!!) and dissect a recent survey about imbibing at concerts.
For the inaugural Codec Call we invited @lordbritish and @hodgepodge42, aka Dexter Jaekel and Richard Hodges of the Tech Fixation, to join us for a Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Spoilercast. Please be warned: This is a spoilercast and as such, may contain traces of spoil for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes! Discussed in this show: The look and feel of MGS V: GZ (spinning in circles and staring at spotlights) Cassette tapes: There's a lot of depth there if you go looking for it. Is it easier to miss the full story without the enforced codec calls from earlier games? Tone: With the depth there's darkness to be uncovered. Big Boss' character development; will the Phantom Pain openly be the darkest game in the series, or will it stay hidden in dossiers and cassette tapes for you to engage with at your own pace? Also, is Hideo a perv? Gameplay: New mechanics including Reflex, vehicles and the companion app are discussed; including a variety of approaches from stealth to slaughter with Anti-Air artillery. It's not a game that will hold your hand! Kiefer Sutherland: Apparently he's in it?! What's coming next: Who is Skullface? Will we be building Outer Heaven? Will we see Ocelot, Liquid or Hayter? Will Raiden be a playable character voiced by Ashton Kutcher?
